Anyone's charger make a sound when unplugging it from the phone - HTC U12+ Questions & Answers

My U12, when I unplug the charger from it, it makes a slight electric "tsss" kind of sound. Not sure if it's just mine or not but. I don't think it does it with my 10 charger.

Yes you are right, i am facing the same thing here. I have old cable and there is no sound when unplugging it.i think it bcoz the cable still new or there is some reason behind it.not sure.

I also noticed that sound and thought I was hearing things!! thanks for posting about it... Bought a second charger for my office and the cable that came with it doesn't produce that sound so it must be a cable issue. Good thing is that HTC's service center is nearby so off I go!

Yes, same sound here with the original HTC charger & cable

I don't think the issue is related to the HTC cable. I can hear that sound, as well, if I'm using my "Anker Powerport +1" (quick charge 3.0 certified).
In addition, my sister's OnePlus 5T is making the same noise if you unplug it from its original charger.

I'm "happy" to discover that I'm not the only one to have this issue. I use an Aukey qc3 dual ports charger with the hTC cable. I do think the disturbing noise is coming from the cable usb-c plug because I don't have the noise at work on an Aukey power bank and a third party usb-c cable...

I also just replaced the HTC cable with an Anker PowerLine II USB-C to USB 3.1 Gen2 cable and am no longer hearing that noise so it is definitely an issue with the cable.
Nice job HTC!

HTC support told me its not normal, they said they need to replace my cable.

I confirm !
My U12+ was just replaced (see my thread about Force Closes) on Wednesday, so I received also a brand new cable and no more disturbing noise when unplugging from stock charger or my QC 3 Aukey one

LG Op One Charger?

So I broke my Optimus One LG original charger, and I can't find an original LG charger anywhere! I've gone through two local chargers, but they don't last more than two weeks with me.
Would another company's phone's Micro USB charger be alright for my phone? Any specific company or phone which would best suit the Optimus One?
I'm asking because I used to think all Micro USB chargers are the same, but the local ones used to screw my touchscreen up if they were plugged into my phone for 30 mins or so.
A generic USB charger is fine. The way the phone is wired in side determines if it is going to pull 3volts or 5 volts from the usb charger. If you were trying to charge an Ipad then you need to find a high output charger. I've been using my HTC usb charger and Ipad charger on my OP and it has been charging fine.
That's the beauty of Europe mandating phones have the micro usb chargers. No Vasaline required when you need to buy a new charger and cable.
Androids are sensitive to chargers, but any half decent MicroUSB charger should see you through. (The roadside ones don't qualify as half decent ofc )
I carry my Kindle charger usually since it's very compact and many Indian buildings have moved to sockets that take both Indian and American plugs, and it works fine with the phone.

Im just using a moto cable and a blue ant wall plug, now It charges fine, but I used my friends microusb bb charger, and it pumps out more power. Are there cables wired diffrently?
Sent From My P-509 With Xda Premium App
blackberry chargers and moto chargers have the data pins shorted in the charger themselves. This is because they have have high speed/low speed charging detection system (as do most android phones now).
If the data pins are shorted, the charging rate is up to 1000ma, without the data pins shorted, many phones limit the charging rate to 500ma. This is to keep the phone from shorting out USB ports on computers by drawing too much power through them. The wall adapters that require separate USB cables don't always have that, or they limit the power output to about 750ma. The dozen or so smartphones in my office require about 700ma to operate, so the effective charge rate is +50ma, which takes FOREVER to charge.
I took an old 5v 1200ma wall wart from a router and cut the end off and soldered on a USB connecter (with the data pins shorted) now I can plug use those multi-plug extendable USB cables for charging any kind of phone just by putting in the right adapter tip. My P509TN will charge from dead to 100% in just over an hour.

I have the LG original charger, but everynight I use a Samsung charger near my bed, because it has the wire longer, but you can't separate it to do a usb wire. Anyway I only use it for charging in the night. I think every charger that fit your jack is fine. Like everything in this world, if it fits, then it's ok.

[Q] 3rd party charger - wierdness

I bought one of these because of the convenience of the 2 usb charging ports
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Masterplug-SRGDU42PW-Charging-Protected-Extension/dp/B007TQNUH8
As soon as I plugged it into my Sensation the touch screen became unresponsive often registering touches from menus no where near my fingers.
Once I had swapped between the HTC charger and this it was clearly a problem on the 3rd party product (which I believed to be a good quality one).
Before I bought this I made sure of the 5v - 1A rating which is what the HTC adapter provides so I'm really puzzled why I don't get this problem when plugged into a pc, a cheap car charger (1A) or my HTC supplied adaptor (1A) and an Anker charger with usb port (600ma), yet this supposed USB port is sending my HTC touch screen haywire.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Needless to say I won't dare use this for the HTC and I'm loath to plug my other intended device (an Asus tablet) into it. I'm a little worried about damaging it but if it's a USB port it should be a simple standard ... shouldn't it?
Same... I have 3rd party charger too for my old Mobile..
Output of that China charger is written same as on HTC charger
When I try to charge my sensation with this charger , entire screen gets unresponsive
My old chaina mobile charge fine with that charger

That's interesting, thanks for the input. I wonder if this is something to do with over-voltage or poor regulation in general. The Masterplug is supposed to be a good make which is why I opted for this rather than the ebay offerings from China.
I have some weird experience before too with 3rd party charger, my xe auto redial the last contact i called out, it call and hangup by itself continuously until i remove the charger, i put back the charger and it did the same again... then charger in bin
Sounds like a grounding issue or voltage regulation perhaps.
It's not worth getting a cheapo charger.
I got an original HTC one with cable for £8.

Understood, however, the product isn't what I'd call a cheapo like the chinese ebay offerings. Masterplug I believe do a range of high quality surge protectors and sockets for all applications so I thought it would be a reasonably safe bet. I already have the HTC charger but this was a convenient way to do away with all that bulk and have a couple of convenient charging sockets.
I'd love to know though what is actually causing this kind of reaction on the phone .. curiosity now more than anything.

Samsung Galaxy phone cable

I see there are posts case , charger and etc, but no post about cable, including charging cable, data cable, OTG cable.
Which cable is the best you find?
For charging, the original charger with fast charging from Samsung. You can also get it the fast charging car adapter.

No, there're ton of alternative. Many cables that I already have work fine with QC 2.0.
I don't mean to butt in but I see this topic is about charging cables and was wondering what is a good thick charging cable that would last a long time. It seems all the cables i had the ends that plug into the phone would stop working like either it would not stay plug in or just won't charge anymore and the cable it's self would start to come apart from bending over time.
Ya i dont think the op was asking about actual cargers but the cable itself. I got this same charger off ebay and the cable is great. The little led lights up as soon as u touch the actual micro usb section so u can see to plug it in in the dark. It only lights up when u are touching it with your hands. Cable is nice and long and seems to be holding up great.

Droidmodderx just reviewed a great aftermarket cable that would work fine with our phone on YouTube it's a hybrid cable that plugs into a phone either way no more needing to check which way is up anymore and it's non tangle durable material. Just search that name on YouTube and watch his review
https://youtu.be/x4bHKpa-3QA here's that sweet after market cable review. Definitely buying this if one of my cords takes a dump
I used to think all USB cables were the same and paying more for one was a waste of money. But I was so wrong. A quality cable gives faster charging and better data performance alongside a more durable construction.
I use and recommend Volutz branded cables. They aren't actually that much more expensive and buying a 'pack' of them off Amazon worked out exceptional value. I have had no issues on the S6 Edge+ with them at all

Anker PowerDrive +2 Quick Charge 3.0 makes Xperia XZ shuts down

Dears,
Recently, I bought car charger (Anker PowerDrive +2 Quick Charge 3.0) that makes a weird behavior with my XZ. When I turn off the car, the phone turns off too
if you plug the car charger out, the phone turns off.. if u plug the cable out from the phone while the car is on and the charger is plugged in, phone doesnt turn off.
I found two sony talks about the same problem
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-XZ/In-car-USB-charging-XZ-auto-shut-down/td-p/1167260
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xper...ther-with-car-if-I-m-charging-it/td-p/1203501
I tried another anker car charger (Anker powerdrive+ 3.0) and doesnt make the same problem.
Do you know if it is a SW problem? or I shall just through away the Anker PowerDrive +2?
Thanks,
I have the same issue! Same charger anker, makes same in different car also with the anker

This is odd... Anker tests say that it is compatible with the XZ. but seems this Anker model was not tested with the XZ. I have the Anker Powerdrive +1 car charger (has one usb port) and it works fine.

I don't see anything anywhere in either products' listings that would suggest that those are actually QC4 chargers, however, as Qualcomm's specifications indicate, QC4 does support USB Power Delivery, which is what everyone should be using anyway.
I've been charging my U12+ on PD for the last week and it tops up blazing fast.

I do think they're being untruthful. I don't see any indicator other than "QC4.0" that indicates that it's Qualcomm certified, nor did I see the phrase, "Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0" in the listing. I don't trust it.

Yes you are probably right. I would wait for a Qualcomm certified charger anyway. Just saw someone post about the first one linked and they seemed to know it was 4.0. No reviews or comments anyhow, I would never purchase something with no reviews lol.
As for Anker, I've had issues with their cables and HTC phones. They seem to work for a little while then they stop. They also wear out quickly to where the micro usb connection becomes loose and falls out easily. Seems it's hard to find a good cable.
I need replacement micro USB cables for my M8 and M9 and can't even order one from HTC. The "HTC OEM cables on Amazon are fakes. They look exactly the same except they do not have the HTC tag.

The clips on the micro USB wore out quickly and would not snap in like they are supposed to so they fall out. I still use micro USB for non-phone devices. But they guaranteed the cables would work with HTC devices since HTC devices are very finnicky with charging cables, if it's not HTC oem, most of the time they do not work right. My first pack I ordered from them, a pack with different sizes wouldn't work, they said that was the older style so they were great and offered me a upgraded version for free, like six different cables and they were the ones that worked but didn't last long. Anyway, the USB-C should be much better since they attach much differently.
It is hard finding a good micro USB cable.
