Facebook app wrongly showing notifications (3) - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone!
As the title says I am unable to get rid of these false notifications (not icon badge). I tried reinstalling/deleting app data/clearing cache/disabling/re-enabling permissions/ other stuff and nothing.
If anyone has a clue on how to proceed further please help me out! (My phone is a HTC U11, running android 8)

Try resetting the cache of htc home.

Took a while before I found the sense home app (kept looking for something with htc in it) but once I did and after I cleared the cache and all the app data (not sure if it was necessary) everything (finally) went back to normal!
So thanks a bunch, been looking for a solution for a few weeks now!

You're welcome. It took me a while to click when I had icon badges that wouldn't leave. There is a quick fix sometimes where you can change the home widget (out/home/work/) between one of the selections (out/home/work/) and back again. If that doesn't work you have to clear the cache of htc home app.
Glad you got it resolved!.

Thunderbolt HTC Sense Loading Problems

I rooted my TBolt earlier this week and now I just moved my bloat apps to my sdcard. All went well except i tried to put the car panel app back. So I read further about how to put back apps and resetting the permissions. I tried it with the car panel app and it seemed to have worked but I couldn't see it in the app list. So I read further and found a suggestion to clear the data of the HTC Sense app. My thinking was that I had to do that in order to get car panel app to appear again. But it did not work.
Well I cleared the HTC Sense data and now all I get after many battery removals, reboots, etc. is the following after I unlock the screen.
"Loading...
It may take several minutes to complete, please wait."
It's been doing this for a day now and I dont know what to do.
The phone seems to be functioning because I can receive calls and msgs. But I cannot launch anything.
I also tried doing the power+dwn vol, on reboot and tried to recover, restore factory etc... but nothing is working..
Any advice....?
THanks in advance...
Problem fixed, thanks

[Q] HTC Sensation Issues : Lock Screen

My lock screen has stopped working.
I had the Weather lock screen setup with the icons and now when I unlock I gtet a black lock screen, no weather, no icons, just the time and date at the top.
I can still drag the circle to unlock.
If I try setting any of the lock screens such as the clock I get the same. Just a blank lock screen.
Also, the Dock Mode app doesn't work.
Each time I start it it just quits immediately.

Did you try to reboot the phone (press and hold power button, tap restart)?
Yes. Many times.

Hmm, a factory reset?
Hmmm, I'd really rather not. It's not much of a fix. What's to say it won't just break again ?

What about
How about changing the lockscreen type from weather to stocks or standard and then back?
Yes. I've been through all that. None of the lock screens work and switching between them doesn't help.

i would still try doing a factory reset since everything else you try seems to not work..so you cant know its not much of a fix without trying it now can you?

No one else seems to be complaining about this, so probably not a common bug. It sounds like some type of corruption. If so, a factory reset would likely fix it. Understand not wanting to redo all your app installs and setup. Still, there may not be another fix other than swapping the phone. Just my 2 cents.

Yes I can. If you remove the symptoms of a problem without ever understanding or addressing the cause then it's not much of a fix. If the problem recurs you are back to square one. At best you can say you've given yourself a break from the problem, but you haven't fixed it.

I Used the kingdom sense pack on my desire hd. This did happen to me once. But I just reflashed it in clockwork to get it back
Factory reset could work for you

Same thing... And also I don't want to do hard reset/restor factory settings... Any ideas?
Htc Sensation isn't rooted yet, so custom ROM is not a solution...
Thanx in advance
Check the settings/applications and if there's anything like lockscreen for example, try clearing cache and data. If that doesnt work or was not found, maybe clearing stuff for Home can help.

Thanx for Your answer.
Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me.
I did:
HTC Sense process - no cache, no app data avaliable - only "kill" button...
Weather widget - all data wiped, no changes
Default lockscreen - all data wiped, no changes
Sync services provider - all data wiped, no changes
HTC Lock Screen - all data wiped, no changes
HTC Sense - all data wiped, no changes
Three another weather processes - all data wiped, no changes
HTC weather wallpaper - all data wiped, no changes
Weather agent service - all data wiped, no changes
Weather Provider - all data wiped, no changes
After all, did Soft Reset (battery out, wait 2-3 minutes, battery in, Power On), and still... no changes
I'm afraid I resorted to a factory reset in the end. Not because of this issue but because of another problem. I rebooted my phone and it lost all my email account info. The mail app told me there were no accounts. Accounts and Sync said they were still there but if I tried to open the settings nothing would happen. Also, it would not let me remove the faulty accounts.
Anyway, the reset fixed the problems with the lock screen and with the dock mode app.
Such is life

I had a problem with my lock screen where the icons dissapered. It seemed to happen after I was changing the skins etc. Nothing I tried would make the icons re-appear. I had to hard reset in the end. Have been using it for a couple of weeks since without any problem.

I think You're right... In the end, I had to hard reset my device also. Right now everything is back to normal, but I thing HTC should fix this problem, beacouse what's the point of downloading more skins, when after apply them, lockscreen seem to not work properly?
So, right now, the only way I know to get the 4 buttons back on lockscreen is to hard reset device, and not apply any other than stock skins....
Cant say ive come across this one before.. so you may just have a duff one. send it back and hope for the best my friend.

HTC Clock - no Facebook updates

Hi guys,
This problem has been driving me nuts for the last week:
I love the HTC Clock on the ChaCha with Facebook messages underneath. Much more useful than the weather (Jeez! look out the window!)
Anyhoo, for the last week or so it's been saying "no recent updates" my daughter suggested I just didn't have any decent friends but no, pressing the panel takes me to loads of updates in HTC's Facebook app.
I've tried clearing the cache on Sense, toggling WiFi on and off, rebooting the phone. Still nothing
I can't see how I can get to any settings for the clock, it must hang off of something else but what?
Both the Facebook's own homepage widget and HTC's Friendstream both seem to be working fine. Hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Andy
Aha. I had this exact problem last week and made me realise how much I missed the feature. No end of rebooting, removing the widget / adding it again seemed to fix it. Then had a go a looking for other widgets to use instead, but I couldn't find anything that fit.
Anyway - the solution is to go:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Scoot down to 'Facebook for HTC Sense'
First go 'Clear Cache' if that options on.
Second go 'Clear Data'
You'll get a pop up telling all data will be deleted, click OK.
How go back to home click on the Clock widget, go back.....
And hopefully, you're back in business!!!
JD
Yay!
After reseting the data I had to re-authorise my "f" button and "**** about" a bit with the facebook app... then the little sync arrow appeared at the top and it all started working
Thanx!
Tried all of the above with Wifes phone and It didn't work, Then again she has like hundreds of facebook contacts through the stupid games she plays on there so maybe there is just too much info to sync with such a small amount of memory on the device, Anyway I don't care as its her phone lol
Hi,
I'm having the same problem.
I deleted the Facebook application. I installed again.
"Facebook" application, and the "Facebook for HTC Sense" I deleted the application data. But it was not the solution. Still does not update facebook widget.
How can I solve this problem?

Add widget, crash Google Search?

Anyone else had this?
Today I removed my calendar widget because it seemed to be syncing improperly, and long pressed the screen to re add it. I tapped widgets, then when I tried to scroll to the next page of widgets, Google Search force closed and kicked me back to the home screen. Repeated three times, same result. Uninstalled updates to Google Search, and the problem stopped but also the home screen went back to the default startup arrangement.

Same issue here. I have even just reflashed a stock factory image and it still happens, must be a recent Google Search (launcher) update that is breaking things. Don't seem to be many people reporting this issue though...

Found another post that cured this problem.
Clear Cached data in Settings/Storage/Cached Data
Worked for me!

Same problem here. But I don't think it was because of adding widget.
I did nothing and it just happened. Both text search and voice search stopped responding.
After rebooting, it worked for a while then it crashed again.
FYI, my problem happened before there's an update yesterday. After updating new version, the problem is still there.
I own both Nexus 4 and 5. The symptom only appeared on Nexus 5.
Okay I'll try upgrading again to see if it still crashes. I have a Titanium Backup of the current setup.
Alright, tried that. Immediately after the upgrade, it once again crashes when I open the widgets menu. However, clearing the cache does indeed fix it. Thank you!
I'm slowly leaning back towards just ditching this to return to Nova Launcher though. The new features I use so rarely anyway.

bad widget, bad!
Encountering this same issue for the last 2 days, although I haven't tried to add a new widget in over a week. Attempted clearning cache, and uninstalling any recent apps - no fix. Multiple restarts - issue persists.
I'm running ART... can anyone else verify that they get this issue whether or not they've changed their runtime?
cheers
Art seems to be the cause here, well definitely was for me.
solution
Simple, but effective.
I continued to have this problem until I turned OFF Google Now, then turned it back ON. From that point on I have had no problems adding widgets or changing wallpaper using either runtime.

This worked perfectly for me; tried clearing apps cache through system settings, didn't work. Went into recovery, cleared cache, solved it. Thanks!
Sorry to bump an old post but I'm having this problem (not running ART), and clearing dalvik + cache didn't fix it for me. Any other things I can do to fix this?

Trouble with changing lock screen picture? Help?

So, I've been trying to change my lock screen image (as well as the app screen and such) for my HTC U11 but it will only let me use the default selections and not my own pictures...it was working a few weeks ago but it's really bugging me!
Every time I try to select my chosen images it says "Error: Could not load media" - there's nothing wrong with the image files and I've tried many different ones...
I tried going to the "edit current theme" and such but it just won't work! Even HTC customer support couldn't help me :c

Same here.. I deleted the Sense home data, restarted the phone - nothing worked.
Perhaps it is a problem on HTC's side..

Doesn't work.
Also when I select a pic from the G photos itself, to create a theme for an example - it says the same - could not load media. I deleted also the data for the GPhotos - still doesnt work. I run out of ideas.
Can your gallery see the photos OK? It might be a permission thing. Try deleting gphoto cache and data, reopen the app and see if it asks for permission. The screen saver is linked to the gphoto app so the problem must lie there.

Gallery sees and edits the photos ok. Deleted and reopened everything possible. Nopermissions asked. No luck.
From this point I'll admit I'm stabbing a fish in a barrel. Do you have encrypted storage?.
Out of curiosity, are you trying to change from personalize or display settings?
Try edit current theme under personalize.
The error occurs when I select edit current theme using the Themes app and then try to load a picture from the device
Same Issue
I have the absolute same issue, I uninstalled the whole sense home app (therefore my whole homescreen messed up and all my icons) and it reinstalled itself and I restarted my phone and it worked, however it just updated again and now does the same thing
I'm having the same issue on my HTC 10. I've noticed the problem about 2 weeks ago.
Google photos got an update in the play store and the problem is now fixed.
