Oneplus 6 Warranty, Quality of Phone - Gearbest - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
Hope you are all enjoying your OP6. I need to replace my aging OPO and have a question:
- If I purchase the phone via Gearbest, or any other site other than OnePlus will I still get standard warranty?
The only reason I'm asking is I've read that OnePlus will only honor warranty purchased via their website. Can some one confirm this?
Thank you!!

Would like to know this as well, I just got my OnePlus 6 (A6000 version) from there too. Shipping took about 3 weeks even with expedited shipping smh
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6000 using Tapatalk

Got my own answer by going to the source - OnePlus Support. And they did confirm that if one buys the OP6 from other vendors, warranty claims will have to be done via the seller/website. Standard warranty ONLY applies to phones bought DIRECTLY from the OnePlus site. If one needs to have repairs done and phone was purchased from sites other than OnePlus, then OnePlus will be charging you for the repair work done.
Question now is - is it still worthwhile to get the OP6 from Gearbest &/or others? Gearbest has the OP6 on sale...very tempted...then again, maybe it is worth it since OnePlus warranty from what I've read is...
Cheers!

I bought my Oneplus 6 in the gearbest (version A6003) I had a good final price, 421 €, with the money I saved, I can send it to the oneplus and pay for the repair work (if need be) easy

Gearbest == no warranty. Think about it next time...

Good luck

Who told you that? The gearbest has a 1-year warranty.
And as I said and I repeat, with the money I saved (€ 100), I can pay for repair at oneplus, I'm fine with that.

Guess it depends who is selling it on Amazon. If it's OnePlus, then it should be ok but best to contact OnePlus.

Warranty through OnePlus only applies to purchases through them or an authorized reseller. But remember warranty laws also very country to country.

Sony's warranty if you buy from eBay?

For those buying Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3C phones from eBay wholesale sellers, do you get any warranty from Sony? Or this is a done deal, no return kind of thing?

Well, I can't tell you for sure but as soon as I registered both of my D6633 and now the D6603 both have the Warranty Information in there, don't remember the exact date for the D6633 but it was until December 2015, and now my D6603 says valid Until 17/01/2016.
Why it is more than a year? I don't have a clue but I registered my D6603 last Monday (10/21) and it says valid until 17/01/2016, so about 15 months, not bad.

Both are from eBay, the D6603 was the one that listed as $599 when everybody else had it over $740, he sold tons of them, seller is techno.trading.house and the D6633 was from never-msrp.
This is very promising. I bought from the same seller. :]
For those wanting to register their phones: https://account.sonymobile.com
SONY: Thank you. What is the model of your device and your service provider?
ME: Sony Xperia Z3 (D6603) on T-Mobile
SONY: Thank you, we understand that you have a warranty question regarding this device model and the purchase situation, is this correct?
ME: Yes
ME: I bought it from an eBay wholesaler.
SONY: Correct, how may I assist you?
ME: Just wondering about whether you honor warranty for these new devices, even though I bought them from a third party.
ME: I've read in forums you do.
SONY: I understand, we'll be more than glad to assist you regarding this matter.
SONY: In this case, as long as you purchased the device from a Store Seller and you have available a Proof Of Purchase from them, then your warranty can be honoured even though your device is an international model, however, our repair center in the US will address the warranty under US repair policies and your device will be considered a Gray Market phone, meaning that we would not be able to provide you with an estimate turnaround time from the repair facility.
SONY: Have I answered all of your questions today or is there anything else I can help you with?
ME: I registered my device on your website, and it said "Warranty valid until: 17/01/2016". What kind of warranty am I expecting?
SONY: This would be the case for your device as this is the 1 year warranty from date of purchase as long as you conserve the Proof of Purchase.

You're so lucky. It's currently listed at $675. The only one cheaper is never-msrp at $665.
This has been discussed a few times on here. The reports range from--
(this is the party I belong to) you're covered with the full 2 yr warranty, but since the phone was manufactured for a different country, they will give no estimated time of return stating that if the phone needs a region specific part it will need time to ship here
all the way to Sony saying it hates it's customers buying phones overseas and will offer zero assistance. I say again that I have had them take a phone in from me and return me a brand new in box unit 30 days later.

You will need the email address you used for Xperia Care or if you registered with Google or Facebook.
Just contacted Sony and I don't even need to register my phone for the warrant, apparently my phone already came with a 1 year warrant from Sony.
I have the Black Z3 (D6603)

I'm unfortunately in the latter camp with my z2, bought from never-msrp on eBay and am having a really weird screen issue. Sony USA says they won't touch it since the IMEI is from Hong Kong, and Sony HK says they won't since I don't have a bill of sale directly from them showing that it is "Hong Kong officialgoods".
In case you (or anyone) might have input on what's causing my issue (weird, it's like the bottom row of pixels is being taken from the bottom and then displayed at the very top row of the display), here is a short youtube video I uploaded to show what's going on. Factory reset didn't fix it, software repair didn't fix it. Suggestions appreciated. http://youtu.be/BHtR5hylmN4

I am thinking about picking up a Sony Z3 Compact from the same seller. Is there any way to figure out where the IMEI is from and if Sony will support it, ahead of time?
If its a sealed product and you register it when you get it you should get the basic warranty
I think it's depending on the country you're living in / you're buying the product.
eg. in germany you have a two year warranty enforced by law if you buy from a professional reseller. the law defines what's covered and how to handle. and you have the claim against the seller, not the manufacturer. because the seller is your contractual partner.
but a manufacturer can provide an additional guarantee, which does not affect the legal warranty. this guarantee can be set up by the manufacturer in whatever way he wants to.
Just make sure you get a your region version on eBay.

Warranty in the US for an International version of S6 ?

Hi!
Lets say I buy an international version of the S6 (SM920F) for example from the UK
How would the warranty play out if something were to malfunction ?
Would I have to return it to the seller (in the UK) for warranty repair/replacement, or can I turn it in to some kind of samsung repair center here in the US ?
Any of you guys have experience with something like this ?
I'm not interested in the Carrier bloated S6 versions
Thanks guys
Wondering the same. Figured I'd comment to bump. Not getting any clear, concise info from Google.

Well, I bought the Note 2 from Ebay when it came out and I ended up having some issues with it... The company I was working with was "BREED" and they were not the best but I did ended up getting the issue resolved. First you want to make sure that the seller is even going to issue you a warranty and stand by it, because technically it was voided as soon as it was delivered in the US. There are some companies that will facilitate the transportation so that it can get sent to them, and then Samsung, wherever they may be (Mine was from Spain). The problem there is that you will be without a phone so as long as you don't care and have another phone then you are golden! Personally, I would get a 3rd party warranty and be done with it! No worries and no problems if something does end up happening... :good: BTW: I have used Squaretrade for several warranties and my daughter has broken 2 different iPads!! All they do is make you send them your original receipt and if they can't fix the damage or problem then they cut you a check, and can even throw it in your PayPal account 4 you! The last claim was about 6 months ago and they cut me an $800 check within 5 business days! Top notch IMO!

Mate 9 Pro-> Available at all? in U.S.?

The Porsche Design is incredibly expensive. But they have announced a Mate 9 Pro, and is on their web site here. But no information on versions, or places to purchase.
Google search not turning anything up either.
Seems like this time of year would be good time to get this stuff out there and available.

It's only a limited release so far.
It's available in China, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
Your only way of getting it would probably be to import a Chinese version. I've yet to see a Nordic shop ship internationally even though it would probably be preferable (albeit more expensive) to get one from a Nordic country.
Other than that, you can only cross your fingers and hope it sees a wider release. I'm guessing they're testing to see the reception of a curved amoled display for future devices.
Thanks
Sweden and most of the others appears to be pre order from 20th.
i've found a couple of shops in sweden that will ship to other countries when they do have stock...
If you find out where the Pro is available for purchase online, please post.
Yeah, a lot of people like me have interest on this Model.
Sure. Likewise, of course.
Misco in sweden will post overseas but they only taking pre orders and are not guaranteeing it'll be instock by 20th. They said telcos will get them first so maybe try them....

Yup. It sure is. Although it is not available from a supplier in the U.S.
One of my concerns about purchasing a phone that would not be from a vendor in the U.S. is support. Even if the support is 'good', timing for handling would be an issue, I presume. Maybe my concern is not valid...I don't know.
The other thing for me is if I purchase a phone (especially one in that price range) I want to be able to evaluate it for at least a couple weeks and return it if it's not for me for whatever reason. The Oneplus 3 has a 14 day policy, and the Axon 7 has 30 days.
I talked to Huawei customer support today inquiring about the Mate 9 Pro because I have been wanting to get one but was told that they do not recommend buying it from 3rd party vendors or sellers and there is no warranty for the international version of the phone if you use it in the U.S.
Well, that ended my hopes of getting an expensive unlocked phone. Might as well wait for the upcoming phones...

Some re-sellers offer warranty support.
I wouldn't worry about it... I've never had to use warranty service for any of my smartphones. I've been searching but can't find any places selling this phone in silver/gray at a decent price... most are $1,000+. I already got burned when I bought my international Mate 9 (lost $200 when I sold it after the unexpected U.S. release).

Very valid. I bought a Mate 9 Pro in the USA via a seller on ebay. The sellers post just said huawei has 12 month warranty. Which is true. Just incomplete
After i received the device, i could figure out:
Huawei does not seem to have global warranty support == you need to send in the device for any form of repairs to the country where it is originally from.
My device seems to be from Taiwan, but that is just conjecture by me because the packaging has a URL from Taiwan on it. Alas, the Taiwanese Huawei site is one of the few that does not have online warranty check and when i sent an email to them from the webpage to inquire about my warranty status, i never got a reply. Maybe they can not or do not want to talk english. Or deal with overseas sold units customers.
Aka: i guess i am pretty much out of luck wrt. warranty unless i learn chinese and jump into a plane to taipeh. Which could be fun . But i guessed something like that to be the situation before i bought the phone, so no big surprise.
i got my mate 9 pro from ebay too. and it's also from taiwan. it's the gray one and it's only $878 + intl express shipping. i think it's the cheapest gray mate 9 pro coz some sellers from aliexpress sells it for even more than $1000 coz it's very rare. and they are selling the chinese version too. mine's international, i got it after 5 days here in new zealand via dhl. didn't have pay any import dutiesas well. the seller only sold 4 of these and i was one of the luckiest to grab the sale. here's the link:

That is a great price! Gray does seem to cost a lot more because it's unavailable mostly... there's a AL00 (China) model open box on eBay, but I'm afraid of dealing with annoyances from buying a Chinese model.
I've just ordered the gold via Amazon Prime for $889. At least that way I actually CAN easily return the phone and get my money back if I don't like it... or if Huawei does a release in the U.S. soon I won't get screwed.

I think I might have seen the same listing on Amazon as you for the gold one. But I got my gold model m9pro for $773 with free shipping (no tax) on ebay. it was a great deal and have been loving the phone. I got the C636 build which I believe is the European version but could be wrong.

I just checked your link, Porsche was there, no Pro. One said it was a Pro, and I could be wrong, but my understanding is that the Pro is 6GB of memory, and the one listed said 4 GB.
A The only reason I would want a Pro is for 6GB of memory.

Where best to buy? (UK)

Hello,
I'm looking at buying the OnePlus 7 Pro 8GB 256GB but where's best to buy it from in the UK?
- Directly from OnePlus UK (heard their aftercare support isn't that great?)
- Amazon UK (assuming this is from OnePlus themselves and not third party, Amazon's aftercare is good)
- John Lewis Retail (heard this is best to buy from in the UK, due to aftercare)
What do you recommend? For aftercare, support, and possible returns policy if I don't like it?
Thanks!

John Lewis is the best to buy from, Amazon customer service can be a nightmare sometimes, OnePlus customer service may as well not exist.. I contacted them twice both times useless, 1st for a RMA and 2nd for missing referral points said they'd get a higherup to contact me never happened.
Both Amazon and OnePlus you'll need to mail it back for a return. Least with John Lewis can return it to local store no problem.

Thanks for the helpful advice! I was stuck between the three.
With OnePlus I can get a discount of 5% off the handset (student), with Amazon I can split the payment of the phone for 5 monthly payments of £139.80 which makes it more affordable until I sell my iPhone but with John Lewis I get non of that instead you get quality customer service and aftercare but for full price.

OnePlus 7 Pro GM1910 in Canada

I am looking to buy a OnePlus 7 Pro from Swiftronics. They sell the GM1910 (China) version of the phone but I believe they flash Oxygen OS using the built in updater.
It looks like it should be perfectly usable in Canada but I just wanted to confirm I would not have issues with OTA updates or connectivity issues.
Currently in Ontario and on Koodo.
Hey it would work with no problems. But I would recommend ordering from Ali express as it would be cheaper. I got my oneplus 7 Chinese version with global ROM installed and I've been getting all the OTA's with no problem. PS I'm in Atlantic Canada

Ok thanks. I'm not sure if I trust such a large purchase from AliExpress. I feel like I would have a better chance of getting my money back if there was anything wrong from a Canadian reseller. Especially since it won't have a warranty. Unless you have a link to a really reputable reseller with a much lower price.
Yea that's totally up to you. I've purchased several expensive items from Ali express. Never had a problem. My biggest purchase was my one plus 7 as well haha. I usually look for a seller with most units sold and good reviews obviously. Also free shipping haha since you don't pay import duties on free shipping.
