What are the changes from 35 to 40? I didn't bother updating to V35 because unrooting for an update that is rumored to be buggy didn't seem worthwhile, but I'd like to know if v40 adds something interesting enough

I'm on 35 and no bug working well......you would probably have to google it to find out what is what.....

I did before posting, but it's not a very known phone so it makes finding precise info quite hard. Even Ulefone's site fails to have it, which doesn't surprise me since they don't even have the decency to communicate on Oreo update cancellation...
Thanks anyways

Just got a ota and for what I was able to read it is mainly to do with face unlock fix's it didn't say anything else......
Edit.....now on 40 didn't even think there was a security patch in it.......

Ok thanks, I won't bother updating then. FaceUnlock isn't my thing ^^

Don't know if you are able to skip ota updates it may want you to take one then it my allow the Oreo update.......

Well, it's not so much as skipping as completely ignoring all updates until a new one is worth the hassle of unrooting, flasing and rerooting again.
It seems we'll never get Oreo anyways so what I'm running on is probably the last version I'll use until it dies :/

If you want the last OTA without paid,

i will upluad it on mega if link is broken
Only for V35, don't know if it work on V36 (mine don't receive OTA yet )

Think we'll get this instead of 2.3.3? (Adds video chat to Google Talk, so most likely not on the Nexus One).

"carl" seems to think so..... but my guess is sense its tmobile we will get 2.3.3 in july-august (even though they say june/soon)
and wont see 2.3.4 till mid fall....
but ill give a 9/10 for wishful thinking
Maybe not officially but CM7 will have this and other unofficial roms.
I'd rather get frequent steppings and options then 1 upgrade in a year.

Maybe so, but since they specifically say it's for video chat (ie. front facing camera) would make sense it would hit the G2x sooner rather than later (yes, yes, I know, I said "Make Sense" in regard to a Carrier). Would also explain why the G2X didn't hit with 2.3.3 with 2.3.4 in the wings.
Note: Google Tweet says this is heading to the Nexus One also

Android 2.3.4 OTA rolling out over the next few weeks! Has bug fixes for Nexus One, video chat for Nexus S. But a surprise is still to come!
I have trouble understanding why people complain about not getting updates.
You purchase a phone with specific version....why is update required?
I think updates for bug fixes are required but fixes for improved features....not so much...
In that case I should call honda our chevy to get my updates....
In some cases the updates are promised in which case it should be given on schedule but when its not promised....just be glad they aren't charging for them like apple......
I don't see anyone "complaining" about not getting updates. It was a simple musing on an announcement.

There's sort of an expectation when it comes to software that you'll get updates for at least 12 months after purchase. Maybe not new software outright, but at least be up to date with whats current.
But even then, this phone would benefit hugely from a software update and I do think it's up to Tmobile and LG to fix a few of the launch issues.

No one was complaining, they were just speculating. Also, upon release the g2x was already "behind" in it's os version compared to some other phones, which creates even more of an expectation for a timely release of a new version.
Also, are you really from the camp where you expect NO additional features stemming from updates for your phone? If that is the case, you probably would be better off with a *phone.

There's a difference between "wanting" one and "needing" one. This phone is buggy as crap. I'd love Gingerbread but I'd settle for:
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a radio that get along.
- Bluetooth that remembers profiles.
- Not getting random reboots.
- Faster 4G than my old G2.
- A signal indicator that displays what the phone's actually doing.
There's more, but you get the idea.

Probably because in most cases you have to sign up for a 2 year contract, which is like 5 years in techland. But that's just me.
Just an FYI, Google pushed the source and binaries for 2.3.4 to ASOP a little while ago.. and the signed update.zip for Samsung is available for direct download.
Sooner than we think may really be sooner than we think.

Verizon officially announces buggy thunderbolt OTA

Can't say I'm surprised: http://support.vzw.com/system_update/thunderbolt.html
No voicemail notifications and FFC issues. Wonderful. How did this pass VZW testing again?
Nothing against you but people have een crying about other devices getting GB first and how we are getting screwed and blah blah and now GB is finally just around the corner and people are going to complain again. Can't be pleased it seems. Just root and run a custom ROM that runs better than stock and it's smooth(er) sailing!
I am running a custom rom. My point is that it's been how long since we were promised GB? 4 months? Weren't we supposed to get it in June? You'd think they would at least be able to iron out the bugs with this long of a delay. It's the end of September and they can't fix voicemail notifications which have plagued every leaked build for months? That's a huge bug (especially since voicemail is a Verizon feature) and it hasn't been fixed yet. Come onnnnn.

I see your point but I guess it all boils down to is GB worth not being notified of a VM especially with the other alternatives that are out there. With that said I do agree they should of made VM notifications work but I guess that means they will put out another update to fix that and other issues soon (hopefully).

I think what it really boils down to is the fact that VZW is releasing this buggy version as an OTA update, which will be rolled out to lots and lots of people who have never heard of ROMs or rooting or anything, and they will be stuck without voicemail notifications or a properly working front camera until VZW (I'm guessing) releases *another* OTA update later on to fix those problems. That's pretty bad customer service. I think they're just releasing it so they can (finally) actually stick to a release date, even if the release is buggy.
People who run custom ROMs won't have to worry about it too much but we are a small minority of all the people who have Thunderbolts.

This is true but nothing anyone can do about it. VzW will have to deal with all the customer service calls they get for lack of VM notifications then and that sucks for them.

Actually, people who run custom roms WILL have to worry about it. Custom roms do not fix this problem. Using this phone for business it will be a HUGE problem...a liability problem.

Those who don't use Google Voice or YouMail and so on should call and call and call to get VZW and HTC motivated enough to fix it quickly. Maybe that will motivate them enough.... On the other hand, I have to think fixing VM notifications, for whatever reason, must be extremely difficult. I really don't see either company releasing an update without seriously trying to have fixed this.
People who use the Thunderbolt but do not know about leaked RUUs will not know about the VM bug. They will see their phone prompt them to update and click accept just to get rid of it. If they're in the subway, underground, or a place with no reception and someone leaves them a VM, they will have no idea it's broken until their find out the good old hard way. As you said, VZW will have their hands full with custom complaints in a few days after the OTA hits.

We were speaking specifically about custom roms, not 3rd party software. Everyone has access to those alternatives, whether its a custom rom or not.
Ahhh, yes, I overlooked that aspect of the issue. One won't KNOW they've rec'd a voicemail with this update.... I doubt people randomly check their voicemail to see if there's a new VM. People only do it when their phone tells them they have a VM waiting.
I really expected VZW to acknowledge this issue in their 'announcement' and to at least say "a minor s/w update will be released in the near future to resolve this".
Those are the details for the last ota update

The build number is the same as the leak from the other day, so it's there. Let's hope they do change the build before they push it.
Is there a way to not accept the ota? And just prevent it from downloading on its own? My wife's phone is stock and unrooted

Use google voice. Problem solved!
Guys it's possible that voice mail and other things will work. The update according to them will be 147mb, much smaller than the full rom leak. As this is an "update" the camera and voice mail may work just fine.

Anybody got any update above b190 for L29C567? US version that is. The Intl C432 version got 2 or 3 updates after our May update.
Should we consider rebranding?

There's a beta, B230, out for the US version. That's the latest release, albeit not an officially pushed one.
Probably new version will come soon, I'd think.

Me either...I do appreciate those that run the betas, but 190 is VERY stable for me. I've gotten old enough, cranky
enough, and stubborn enough to just run official release versions. At the end of the day when I get home from
work, I don't even pick my phone up, unless someone actually calls me, and even with that, it better be a family
member or I won't touch it. I get enough calls, text, emails on the thing during the day.:cyclops:
Same here...was tempted to rebrand and try some of the custom ROMs but this phone is working so well for me. I also doubt the 230 version has any features that makes it worth it to update. I will wait for Oreo before I mess with it again.

Yes, it's true.
They took almost one month for an 80 MB update, and today, 20 May, it's not released for all users but only for a bit of them.

It is no crap, unless you show me a contract you signed in which it says they have to Release it in x months after it is publicly available.
Or show me a device starting with nougat which already has it.
Other than that people would complain if it has bugs. With Samsung, the note 8 hasn't even got 8.0 yet because it is too buggy.
So basically your post is bulls*** as we almost always get our security updates in the same month. Galaxy s9 is still on February afaik. Besides that 8.1 is still Oreo and not really worth that much anyway. Then again if it helps yourself with whining keep going but don't annoy others with it
Well it is kinda the point of Andoid One to always be up to date. Without all the manufacturer crap this should really be faster.

Nope.
The point of Android One is to have an android version closer to the specifications of Google, meaning zero or very little customization from the manufacturer.
Has nothing to do with updates. If you want updates, buy a Pixel.
Most devices are abandoned even before they are available to buy, and you complain because you have May update in... May?
What are you going to do with 8.1 that's so important? Besides, it's coming! We already have a beta for it. So what's the big deal?
Go buy a Motorola phone and enjoy 0 updates.

Nope, i didn't mean that. Their are few bugs left you can find them on Forum, but they don't fix them first, secondly they adda new bugs, like the charging time has increased after April Patch by atleast 30-40 mins. Xiaomi just fails when it comes to answer question relating to updates ,features and anything, they just don't reply to them, with even a simple NO.
If any of you went to android one program webpage and actually read of it, there wouldn't be any stupid discussions.
It should have 8.1 few months ago already. Meanwhile were getting stupid security patches and nothing else.

Xiaomi is known for it´s great specs/ price relation but it´s terrible in the update department, this varying given model x or y. As for our Mi A1, yes, updates are a little slow but still on time .

Xiaomi has the worst community in the world, no doubt.
Anyway, seems like the pre-oreo update, less than 100mb and after 3/4 days Oreo was released.

[News] LG V20 H990DS - Update V20b-Mar-28-2019 available!

I don`t know, if this version has been discussed. After month of silence I finally got the first update after the big oreo-upgrade last year.
The Update is 753,08mb big and it`s downloading now. My security patchlevel is 1. sept 2018 for now. Hopefully I`ll be on 1. may 2019 after the update.
Yeah was just about to make a thread also, mines crawling at 1% every 5 minutes or so...finnaly the security patch is here...33% took almost 2 hours so far, LG just love to disappoint.
Yeah I awoke to find this downloading today. Confused me because I thought LG had officially dropped support for V20 software updates. Not sure I'm going to let it install until I've heard some reports from other users. I only need this phone to last a bit longer (probably going to get an Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro when they become available) and really don't want to risk any problems with this handset before I upgrade.
Update: I installed it and it seems fine. I did have Poweramp crash on me since, but that's not an unusual occurrence for me anyway.
I'll be looking out for the KDZ to drop then will make a flashable zip. Whoop!
