Gamevice S7/S7 Edge Support? - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) Questions & Answers

Hello! A while ago, I bought a GameVice for my iPhone X, and it is by far the best accessory I have purchased for that device, as I am heavily into mobile gaming. I am now wanting to buy one for my Samsung Galaxy J3, but they do not have a model dedicated to the J3. After some quick browsing on GameVice's site, I found a model for the Galaxy S7 that looks like it could fit the J3. It looks like the connector is properly centered and oriented the correct direction. All I need to know now is whether the J3 is similar enough in size to the S7, or better yet, if anyone has tried this before. Does anyone know if it will work?
The link to the controller is here, for reference:. https://gamevice.com/collections/mobile-console-gaming-android/products/samsung-galaxy-s7-1

Olloclip for Android?

whats up guys! so a friend of mine got an olloclip for his iphone and its awesome. yes, yes i said iphone. anyway, its an attachable lens for the iphone that lets you shoot pictures in fisheye, macro, and wide-angle. i know its a bit far fetched, but has anyone seen something similar for our skyrockets? i highly doubt it, but ive been googling everything and couldnt find any such thing
I haven't seen any clip on "Olloclip" style ones, but there are some alternatives discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760189&page=3
Hope that helps!
Indeed it's such a waste there wasn't any Olloclip brand dedicated to the Android devices given it's increasing popularity and adoption.
Apparently the Chinese market was fast enough to tap on it , to come up with lens specially for Samsung Galaxy s3 and Note II.
I had a tried on it, and it was well valued for the bang i paid for it.
Just google Camera-Licious and look for 4 in one Samsung Lens

[Resolved] [Q] Yet Another Help Me Choose A Phone Thread

Hello, esteemed xdadevelopers, xdausers and other various xdamembers.
I've been on the lookout for a new phone (as in fresh new, not second-hand new, like my few past devices). I don't need a fancy top-of-the-line phone, but i'm looking for a decend phone that'll last me at least a year, preferably two, so an active modding/developer community for the particular phone model is a big plus, 'cause i don't like to be stuck on stock forever. I'll be picking it up from a local cell phone operator, so the supply of different models is quite limited here, they mostly have samsung devices and a few other manufacturer devices.
So far i've managed to narrow the list down to three devices:
Samsung Galaxy S II (I9100)
Samsung Galaxy S II Plus (I9105P)
LG optimus L9 (P760)
I seriously can't decide on which is the one for me. S2 has established a great and very active community, which results in a very high likelyhood of getting some nice new ROMs for the foreseeable future, whereas S2+ is a new device which may (or may not, knowing Samsung) receive some software love from the manufacturer, but it doesn't even have it's own forum section yet. L9, on the other hand, is a worthy runner-up and is down-right beautiful phone to me (also has the biggest battery, which is always a bonus).
Please, post your opinion on the above devices, input from their respective owners is highly appreciated! And yes, i intend to at least root it right away, slap on some custom rom if possible (you can suggest some of your favourite rooms along the way). While I'm not interested in other suggestions, such as SIII, SIII mini (those are fugly to me, no offence) or random chinese crap, you can try to advocate for a device of your choice if it has similar specs and/or is in the same price range as the above devices, but, above all, i prefer devices with as low roundness as possible. Chocolate bars ftw, soap bars suck.
p.s. nexus 4 is not available at my country, nor i'd be able to buy one any time soon.
Thank you for your time.
update [08/04]: i picked up a shiney new SII.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Demo Unit to phone with workstation?

Hi guys,
I use to build my Galaxy S3, Note2, S4, and Note3 vith live demo units (LDU). Im always get a LDU of the phone then i get a cheap SMASHED phone then a phone out of the LDU parts.
I got some S5 LDU-s and im just thinking on something: Would be possible to add the required parts (from a chines S5 or something) to the LDU to make it work? One of my friend got a very expensive profession workstation with a good lenses and control unit...
What is actually missing from there?
Any suggestion?
Cheers!
Sammy

Hi Sammy
The only way to do this would be to first figure out the differences between the LDU and the chinese copy. It can be done BUT IS VERY VERY DIFFICULT. You're going to have to use oscilloscopes and go through data sheet upon data sheet to really figure out the the circuitry before you can begin making the other parts work with the LDU, after which it probably won't fit back into the case. There is much reverse engineering to be done, because the chinese manufacturers probably don't use the same design templates. (The Kobo Glo and the Tolino eReaders use the same design templates. Have a look at those boards for a better idea)
If you do manage to use genuine S5 parts in the LDU, I'd like to learn more.
Remember, anything is possible.

[Completed] [Q] About 4.5", front "home button", Top model - SII i9100 replacement

Hi
I'm looking for a SII i9100 4,3" Android phone replacement
Must Have:
front Home button (my bike phone holder blocks access from the sides when phone is inserted)
about the same size ~4.5" would be ok
Good to have:
Top brand model, common on the market - so in future there would be system updates, the Cyanogen would be available, and the Forums would have good support
From my current research I know that
Samsung Galaxy S6 is too big. It would be perfect, except the size.
Samsung Galaxy S5 MINI is to close to my current S2 phone - it is not Top model, nothing so special worth the price...
Saidly said, the iPhone 6 is closest to my needs :/ If there would be iPhone6S I'd probably bought it already.
The only things keeping me on hold is: non microusb charger and non Android system :/
So the question is - what phone offers performance in range of S5, keeping the size (and popularity) of S2?
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. See this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620179 It's a good place to get information on new phones.

Keyboard cases

I'm looking at the S5 as an upgrade to my defunct Captivate Glide. Does anyone know if any cases with a built in keyboard are available for the S5? Google turns up loads, but they all seem to have been discontinued...
s5 too small.
