SameProblem?!
Hello!
I'm a newbee... i want to connect a GPS 4TomTom to the USB Port.
So i don't really know, how to connect the MDA II to the USB GPS-Mouse.
I've taken an USB cable, that could charge the MDA II and build a adapter to connect the cable and the GPS Mouse in it. It won't work. I've think so already, but i've read it anywhere in the www.
So, could anybody help me with the Problem?
I've an Haicom HI-202E GPS-Mouse,
the MDA II
a soldering iron...
and a 5V Powersupply in my adapter (consists of 2 USB ports connected to each other, powersupplied with an 7805 (2A))
How can i fix it?
Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure, but i think, that wouldn't work.
The USB Specifications says that USB requires one master device to controll the slave devices. Your PC is the master device and the mda is just an slave. You won't be able to get 2 slaves talking to each other without a master.....
Stefan
cant the MDA work as an Master?
I've heard it so. But I'm not shure.
Some people gets a external HDD working on other PDA's.
I'll look and think about, but i've never found anithing an web for thet problem/solution.
I've wondered that nobody wants to connect more on the PDA...
I mean 20Gig HDD may be nice in Holliday to listen music
the tomtom software for PPC's will enable under "GPS-status - GPS" the options to select a protocol/GPS-Mouse and the connection:
Ir
BT on com6
serial on com1
com9
.
.
Serial on USB
Bluetooth GPS
so, i thought it will
Thanks for more...
Found this in another thread:

Yes, this is right. The XDA2 won't function as a USB host. You do need that backpack and a www.ratocsystems.com host card. Then it will work.
I know this becuase I'm trying to link mine up to a HDD to store loads of music in my car and use the PPC as a controller but I don't want the confounded backpack - for you though on the motorbike, only using it when you need it it sounds perfect.

Hi
I have an xda 1 & am trying to get the gps to work. I have a Haicom hi204s gps receiver & a (ic-xda-ht for 02 xda tmoble ) cable for the car.
The software I am using is tom tom 3 ver 3.02
I have turned the beam off
My settings for the gps page are Haicom GPS + com1
I am at a loss !!

@nobody: THE MDA can ony act as slave.
BUT: For GPS you ony need a serial port. And after all USB IS a serial type of port.
Only thing you need to do is solder a cable that connects the +5v, ground, Tx and Rx of the GPS USB connector to the appropiate pins of the MDA connector . . . .
On one of the german forums (cant remember the name :-( )there is a memeber nicked 'mocki' that offers custom built cables.
Tanman, choose nmea 4800 and com 1. Make sure beams are off and also that you dont have a keyboard driver loaded. Go to the gps screen in tomtom and see if there is any bars showing for satellites. If this doesnt work or gives an error let me know.
Hi cruisin-thru
Worked a treat
what I could not find at first was 'nmea 4800' which was the name of the sat receiver
Nice one thanx a lot
Tan
Tanman, that is actually the protocol used by the receiver rather than the name/model. Glad its sorted for you.

So what you're saying is that, asl ong as the hardware is compatible with NMEA, we can use this generic driver with the correct baud spreed ?

Here is also USB Pinout inside... to try without Factory Pogo JIG...
Depend on your skills... maybe it is possible to connect wires without soldering...
I have only SM-R732 (SM-R720) knowledge...
I have to solder because it is so f. tiny...

And I have damaged something during soldering...
But in main it is alive...
Maybe SM-R760 and SM-R770 are "easier" to handle... maybe you can connect wires through the Pogo contacts without soldering...
Or glue or "needle" or try to create something or your friends have an idea...
Look at the Pics...
I have tried to prepare some solderless ideas... but failed because it is toooooo tiny...

SM-R732 and SM-R720 have contacts in 1 rope...
I'm missing Pictures of Gear S3 solutions...
Maybe users allready found solderless connection without Factory Pogo JIG...
Best Regards
Thanks. ??

USB To Ethernet moden via UTP cable

I have a question.
After an upgrade of my head unit with a PX6, Androi 9. I have no working WIFI or Bluetooth. The question is, is it possible to connect the headunit via USB-Ethernet adapter direct via UTP-cable to my router in-house. I can realize a test setup for the unit in my office, but am not sure if this will work? An experience with this setup?
I have a MTCD/E unit (MTCE_LM) with a PX6 RK3399. I have a USB to UTP connector, which I tried on my Android (11) tablet and my Xiami phone. There it connects via the UTP cable (after disabling WIFI and 4G), and gets a IP adress form my (DHCP) router. Hope somebody tried it on the head unit with
What happened when you tried it
Did not rty it yet. HAve to wait for my upgrade unit. And have to create testsetup in my homeoffice. My car is not reachable with an UTP cable Will let you know when I have results.
You can use a USB Modem like the HUAWEI like the e5573 and use it like a ethernet cable. I am not 100% sure if you can connect any ethernet wires, just try.
Another option is wipe and reinstall firmware, like hal9k one to solve wifi problem.
I have two PX5 head units here that work just fine with any USB to LAN adapter. I don't see why it wouldn't work on PX6.
Thanks. Tried it and mine works fine also.

Wireless Download (AP MODE) not working after flashing wrong ROM

Title says it all.
Wireless Download isn't working, even if I double tap the power button or hold it for 2 secs then release it.
Any idea to fix this? Or do I have to use Wired Download instead?

I had this happen awhile back when I ordered a T-Mobile version and they sent the Verizon version on accident. I didn't read ahead to see what happens if you flash the wrong rom and end up bricking the watch and was longer able to access Wireless Download mode and connect to NetOdin. What I had to do was get a charger from the original Galaxy Gear S watch (that clipped to the backside of watch), slight disassembly and modification and the metal pins used to charge the original gear S watch will fit into the access port on the side of the Gear S3 watch and allow you to connect the watch to PC via USB and flash using regular Odin. There is a guide in these forums somewhere if you search, or if you have any questions, feel free to ask
There is another way to do this if you have the tools and skill but requires disassembly of the watch and soldering a usb cable to the motherboard of the watch to connect to usb and flashing stock rom using Odin. Once finished, removing the solder and cable, and then reassembly.
