Hi,
I just received my work phone and I'm using dual sim.
Now I've always seen app twin function on my previous P10. But now I'm trying to use the whatsapp app twin. When I go into settings and enable the whatsapp app twin, it'll create the app.. but when I open the app it instantly uses my private whatsapp information. So both apps open up the same whatsapp account.
Is there something I have to do first or is it not yet optimized for EMUI 8.1?
thank you.
Same here
The problem persists under EMUI Version 9.1.0
Here the process to reproduce the issue:
1. Install WhatsApp
2. Go to settings | Apps | App Twin | turn on the switch to create a "work profile copy" of the "WhatsApp"
3. Go to app drawer and find the WhatsApp icon with the little "work profile" extra icon attached
4. Open that "work profile" WhatsApp
5. The WhatsApp welcome dialogue appears (like when first time starting WA after installation)
6. Enter your account data and verify your phone number
7. WhatsApp asks for permission to "contacts" and "local storage" (work profile contacts should be empty, because I did not set up any account for the work profile)
8. grant access to "contacts" and "local storage"
9. Go on "new conversation" in WhatsApp and see, that there are all your contacts shown .... This is the problem!
An app started unter the work profile should be isolated from my "normal" profile (Google account). That is the idea behind using the work profile. But it is not working...
The app "Shelter" works for me (even thoug it claims, that it is not compatible with EMUI).
--> Google Play | search for "net.typeblog.shelter"

Hi there,
After finally getting the Android Stock Contacts app on my Desire, I'm finally able to use the "Sync Group" option to only show one group (let's call it "cormie) in the phone book. This is all fine, I have ticked off all other groups and only "cormie" is ticked on. It displays the "cormie" contacts and the contacts on the SIM (I can delete them off it later I guess) but the main objective is to just use the "cormie" contacts and nothing else.
However, when I go to add a new contact and save it, when I sync it to Gmail, the new entry doesn't show up in "cormie" but only in "all contacts" and once the contact is saved on the phone, it doesn't appear in the phone book because I'm only showing "cormie" contacts and it's not there To see the entry I have to go back in and to show all contacts, then I see it.
This puts a great hindrance on the purpose of the Sync Group option. The guy in post 10 here seems to have got it going, but as you can see in my reply, post 11, it's not saving to the desired group for me!
I'd really appreciate if anyone has a solution for this and could explain how to get it working properly. Or is there an alternative contacts program that will do it? Also, if anyone knows how to not display SIM contacts in the phonebook please share too
Any feedback appreciated at all!
Brilliant! I think I got a workaround
When I first started using the phone after rooting it, I selected "contacts" to be the default for all the options and it actually turns out that the Sense "people" app allows you to save a contact to a group even though it doesn't allow you to "sync groups", choosing which groups you want to sync only, so I needed to get the "people" app to be the default for adding contacts.
What I had to do was go to the main menu > settings > applications > manage applications > scroll down to contacts > and press "clear defaults"
This clears "contacts" as being the default for all the phonebook related actions. If you go back to the home screen and click "phone" you can set "contacts" as the default for this, but then when you go to add a new contact in contacts, it will ask what app you want to add a contact with, click set as default and click the "people" app. Now all "add to contact" actions will be carried out using "people" app, here you can select the group you wish to save it to and then it will show up perfectly in the "contacts" "contacts" menu and will be synched correctly to the chosen group on Gmail!
I think, after 18 days of buying it, I'm finally ready to put my normal sim card in the phone and start using it as a phone! Finally!
I realize this is WAY later than the original post, but have any of you found a solution to not being able to add a new contact to the group you want to add it to? I'm using an HTC Hero (cdma) that I Froyoed with aospmod 2.2.1, so I cannot use the htc "people" app - at least I read that. Sorting by groups is mucho importante to me and I find the default contacts app built into aospmod lacking in this area.
Thanks if you even reply to this!
Hello guys, I switched from IOS to android and I do not regret my decision ... Except: I don't like it, that on android version of whatsapp every incoming photo is saved automatically.
Before you answer me please consider the following: I know that I can deactivate auto-media-download in the whatsapp settings but that is jot what I search. I also know the .nomedia solution, which also fits not my expectations. I just want a IoS-like method with which you can look at the photos and then safe them manually if you want to.
I have a huawei p9 lite device, which is rooted and has xposed framework installed. Thanks a lot for your help.
1. Open the app and go to the main chats screen. From here click on the three vertical dots and then open settings.
2. Now that you're in the settings menu, you need to open Chat Settings and then select the Media auto-download option.
3. From here is you will be presented with three further options to let you decide if you want to download content when you're just using mobile data, connected to a Wi-Fi network or when Roaming. You now need to open and deselect the Image, Audio and Video check boxes from each Mobile Data, Wi-Fi and Roaming options.
That's it. You will be asked whether you want to save a Whatsapp photo, audio or video file to your Android device.
Hope it help
No thats not what I search. On ios you can see the photo and then decide if you want to save it or not. But still you can see the photo. With your method I cant see whats on the photos. On ios you can see whats on the photos without saving them...
so you want image preview?
1. Open WhatsApp.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Tap on Notifications.
4. Scroll down and choose show Preview.

That option is not available on android ...
Disable Facebook Messenger Day (Root Method)
1. Download and launch the Terminal Emulator!
2. Execute su in terminal prompt. (To give aplication Root access!)
3. Then Execute am start -n "com.facebook.orca/com.facebook.messaging.internalprefs.MessengerInternalPreferenceActivity"
After executing latest command, new window will popup and you will see secret messanger settings.
Now follow this steps in secret settings:
GATEKEPPER OVERRIDE > Search GateKeepers > type "Internal" and then set messenger_internal_prefs_android to TRUE
then go back and find MobileConfig in secret settings, and then:
MobileConfig > Search > then type and search for "wave2" > press on wave2 and set value to FALSE
Then press RESTART NOW! And your Messanger Day will be disabled!
Thanks!

This has been patched as of v131 and on. Internal menu can still be brought up. However, attempting to change params in mobile config throws an error. You need an employee or tester login. None of the mobile config settings will be listed.
Edit:
If you have automatic updates like I do (preference), uncheck Messenger. Downgrade to a version from July. You can get one from APK Mirror.
Facebook pushed a server side script that now displays a permanent upgrade notification on the top of the messages list. This targets clients using versions all the way down to 124.0
I downgraded one by one to each version (excl beta!) found on APK Mirror. Right now, v123 and below does not have this problem. You still get all the other features and the internal menu.

How do I change the default Contacts app on Pixel 4a running Android 11??? Aftering searching for the answer, I can tell you:
1. It is not under Apps & Notifications / Default Apps. (Yes, some apps are listed, but Contacts is not listed.)
2. It is not by Apps / Contacts / Open by default. (It says, "No defaults set")
3. I don't want to run a different launcher. I just want to use a different Contacts app.
It seems like a simple thing, I just can not figure it out.
Any help would be appreciated...
Try installing a new contacts app, then when you try an operation that normally would invoke the contacts app, it should pop up a dialog to select which contacts app should be the default (the built in one or the new one you installed).
Also, it might say "no default app" if there is only one contacts app installed on the device (so there is nothing to choose between), so trying the above will test that theory.

Sorry, should have included that info. Phone has both standard Contacts and a second app "Smart Contacts".

Maybe I figured it out. Loaded third contact app and got the choice for default! Apparently Smart Contacts does not register as a Contacts app... Thanks for the help.
Then certain apps, like the built-in phone app might be hard-coded to use the built-in contacts app for certain functions (but not all contact functions), just like the built-in camera app is hard-coded to use the built-in photos app to preview just taken pictures.
But for things like clicking on a phone number in an email should display a "Select Contact app" if you have two contact apps installed (and you have not selected a default contacts app after installing the second contacts app)

So when that "select contact app" dialog box finally did appear (after you installed the third app), are you saying that "Smart Contacts" wasn't in that list?
yup. When I loaded "Simpler Contacts" app and triggered the contacts, I got a choice between "Contacts" (Google's installed app) and Simpler. Smart Contacts did not appear in the list. (I know Smart Contacts was functional. It would load my contacts when opened.)
I really appreciate the help with this...
