Hey I've bought this phone recently and as I do with my every phone i planned to unlock bootloader but after knowing that it requires code from motorola which voids warranty I stopped and now I want to know anyone in india with unlocked bootloader gone to service center to repair phone whether they check phone for unlocked bootloader or directly repair phone.... Just curious pls answer it will be highly appreciated thanks....
One of my friends told me that they don't check it and directly repair your phone that's why I'm asking
I can't seem to find the answer to this question anywhere on the moto g forum, so that means I'll have to ask you guys myself.
I purchased this device after having an s3 mini. On the s3 mini I was able to install the TWRP recovery and some custom roms like cyanogenmod. But if anything would go wrong I would just flash the stock rom and bring it over to the store for repairs.
But after looking on this forum, it seems that whenever you unlock the bootloader on the moto g3 your warranty is permanently voided. So here's my question:
If I unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP, cyanogenmod, etc. and my device breaks. Would flashing stock and relocking the bootloader get my warranty back? ( i don't know if it makes any difference but i live in the Netherlands )
I hope you guys will be able to help me answer this question because i really want to root my device and get cyanogenmod on it.
Warranty is legally void the moment you submit the unlock code to Motorola. They will update their database with your unlock code and provide you the unlock key.
So relocking bootloader or flashing stock rom won't restore your warranty legally. But if lucky, the motocare engineer might proceed to repair your phone by seeing stock rom on board. So keep stock while visiting motocare. But legally it doesn't renew your warranty.
The answer is simple and easy to find... No, once you accept Motorola's T&C for unlocking the bootloader, which are crystal clear if you even glance at them, and receive your unlock token your warranty is void, period. You don't even have to actually unlock the bootloader, just accepting the T&C is enough. At this point your serial number/IMEI are flagged as warranty void in Motorola's database. The actual state of your device doesn't even matter.
BTW, technically what you did with your S3 should have voided the warranty, but depending on who handled the warranty (carrier or Samsung) and their thoroughness, many got through anyway. To the best of my knowledge the only devices you can modify significantly and not void the warranty are Nexus devices.

I've already been to the motorola site for unlocking the bootloader before (xda won't let me post the URL) and I have followed the instructions up until step 6: "Check if your device can be unlocked by pasting this string in the field below, and clicking “Can my device be unlocked?”
After that I did NOT click the "REQUEST UNLOCK KEY" button. Is my warranty voided because of following the steps up until step 6?
(because if it is voided, I might as well just root it already)

No, not yet... I don't remember the step #, but Until you accept the T&C and request the unlock token, your warranty is good.

I decided to root my device because on my other devices I use cyanogenmod as a daily driver. Because of this I'm used to the advantages it has, and the freedom you have over your device. I don't have my warranty anymore, but the fact that my s3 mini actually faced the same problems and I was able to get it repared by just flashing stock made me think that the risk isn't that big. Also the other dude said that by flashing stock the device might stil be repaired. So I decided to take the risk and root my device. After that I flashed cyanogenmod on it and now I use this as daily driver on my Moto G 2015 too.
So the chances are that eventhough my warranty is voided legally, they might stil fix my device if broken. Because of the fact that they did this with my other device once I thought it wouldn't do any harm to root this device too.
Some tips if you do decide to root your device;
go over to the FAQ tab on this forum to find yourself the link to the TWRP recovery. This is as far as I know the best custom recovery for the Moto G 2015.
Also on the beginning of the FAQ it says you need to find out what device you have (personally I've got the XT1541), look this up for your own case and do your research before you start unlocking the bootloader.
After you've unlocked the bootloader your device will be factory reset, so make sure you back up all your data.
When you have installed the TWRP, make sure to make a 'nandroid backup' from your stock rom in case you fail to install any other rom (might you intend to do so). Keep this nandroid backup stored on your computer too.
If you decide to install cyanogenmod (certainly as a beginner) I would recommend to install a snapshot instead of a nightly. Also don't install an unofficial except if your absolutely shure you want to do this.
For the original download page of cyanogenmod go to download.cyanogenmod.org and search for the device 'osprey'
When you install gapps I strongly suggest to install the nano package (the other packages didn't work for me)
Go to opengapps.org and select ARM - 5.1.1 (or 6.0 depending on the android version) - nano
Just a few tips for you ( unfortunately I had to find out some of these things the hard way, so that's why I thought I would leave them here for you )
Good luck with whatever you intend to do with your device and I hope my opinion and knowledge might help you to decide what you want to do with your device

(Sigh)... Of course they will fix your device, just not under warranty and not for free. I don't know how much clearer Motorola can be, if you accept the T&C and get the unlock token, your warranty is void. Period.
Your ESN & serial number are flagged in Motorola's database as no warranty, the actual state of the device is not relevant, they don't care, even if you never actually unlock or modify the device... This is not Samsung, LG, HTC, or any other company, this is Motorola and it's how they do it. They are very clear and don't try to hide it or fudge it, it just is and they make sure you know it.
But at the same time, the failure rate of the Moto G is extremely low, so your probably fine anyway.

First of all, i apologize for my bad english.
this method will help you to unbrick your Mi Mix 2s!
from :
1. The system has been destroyed
2. "This MIUI can't be installed on this device"
3. Locked Bootloader in global/ china ROM
4. Etc
how to do :
1. Remove the back panel of the phone
2. Do test point #below the rear camera
3. Flash it with MiFlash2018-5-28-0
*before you flash, go to MiFlash2018 Folder -> Mi -> account_auth.exe
login with Authorized Mi Account (thanks for redmi note 5/pro ARP cases)
4. do flash
5. wait for done
6. enjoy ur mi mix 2s again!!!
Basically everyone on the official Xiaomi Support Threads for the Mix 2S says this does not work. Not almost everybody--every single person that has tried it and left a comment about their experience. All you will do if you follow these instructions is permanently destroy your phone and if that is your intention smashing it repeatedly with a hammer is faster and easier.
Sorry, I did for my phone, and it's works
And now I am replying from my mix 2s,
It was bricked XE model with locked bootloader in global rom. Just flash with China rom, and the key is mi flash 2018 with authorized mi account which we posted in miui Russia forum to get authorized for bricked arp redmi note 5 pro

I bought this bricked phone from someone, XE model, he flashed to global rom and forgot to choose Clear All, he check Clear and Lock in Mi Flash,
Then the phone is bootloop for a month, he tried to flash, etc with any methods, flash recovery, etc
That's how his phone system destroyed
Sorry for my bad english
If your system says it got destroyed it isn't destroyed it only locked the bootloader and that means you have to unlock it again to access the rom.
@jhs39 and ryan mixed: You´re absolutely right: Due to a failed flash to Android P, my Mix2s got hardbricked -
only showing 'The system is destroyed' - the bootloader was re-locked - only Fastboot was working.
I was able to re-unlock the bootloader by using the latest MiUnlockTool ( the older ones got stuck at 50%... )
- after that, the phone was booting again and everything was OK. My experience is: forget all workarounds with
deepflash cables, testpoint aso - the possibility to damage the hardware of the phone is excessive and they won´t
lead to success. The only way to get it working again is to unlock the bootloader! And this is working not depending
if usb debugging is enabled or you got ´find my phone´ enabled in your mi.account,....

Hm, maybe we´re going to be a bit OT - I read the mentioned thread - who needs five mi accounts?
I have only one for my three registered Mi´s. I did the re-unlock of my Mix2s two weeks ago and
I checked it again before writing this - it still has permission. So, maybe there are other reasons why
Xiaomi has revoked some people´s accounts permission? Maybe depending on the age of the
account, the region, or they reglement the number? IDK. Only Xiaomi knows...

For backup, cause of hardbrick of redmi note 5 anti rollback, no fastboot, no recovery, etc, the only way is to flash in edl for ubl devices, otherwise for non ubl devices we do test point, not permission to unlock, but permission to flash in edl mode.
Try miflash 2018,go to "mi" folder, login with your account, see unauthorized or authorized.
OK, arb can be a bad trap for owners of redmi note 5, but is it also
applicable to the Mix2s? As I wrote, I used the 'old' miflash_unlock
( ver. 3.3.525.23 ) and after that I flashed from failed Android P to
global dev. and then again to Android P using XiaoMiFlash
( ver. 2017.4.25.0 ). And honestly, I´m a bit scared of trying a new

I mean the flashing method, not about ARB.
I used that method for my bricked mi mix 2s,
XE model with Locked BL in global rom,
Just fastboot and recovery,
Bootloop,
Everytime i flash with MI PC Suite 3.0 beta, it's detected as Global or XA model, when i flashed, phone bricked again.
I do try unlock BL again, and got message "this account is not bound to device or something like that" in Mi Unlock
So i downloaded MiFlash 2018 + borrow authorized mi account,
Do test point by opening rear side,
Then flashed China Stable or Developer Rom & my phone is up again
I guess your phone is XA, not XE
Sorry, but @Pfofeldix is right. I have the XE model and once I locked the bootloader while being on Global ROM. Phone went softbricked of course, but I used Mi Unlock to unlock it and it went back to life again. Then I've done the whole procedure multiple times and during every single one of them I was able to "revive" my phone.
There's no point in destroying the phone when you can achieve the same outcome with the phone intact, left alone that some people say that the testpoint method doesn't work.
I don't know why some people can't relock and unlock again, but it definitely is possible if you did everything right in the first place.

Because you can unlock it before, when it unlocked, of course you can flash to any rom.
The problem was my phone Locked in hardbrick state,
Mi account not bound to device.
that's why i do test point, i didn't suggest people to destroy their phone, i do for my phone and it back to life. It's ok, i just want to share.

Completely bricked - no recovery & fastboot (Updated the thread about my experience)
I tried to re lock the boot-loader with 'fastboot relock' which made the deice completely bricked.
That was a foolish thing to do but now I can't access either stock recovery or fastboot. I just get the USB connected sound when I plugin the USB but stuck on boot logo. I ran out of ideas, any suggestions ???
In short, I can't access recovery/fastboot either with hardware keys or commands. Totally screwed it in a hurry.
I don't have a backup phone right now to take/make calls. Any urgent help is appreciated.
UPDATE
I tried all sorts of things but there isn't any free tool which can do things when FRP is locked and phone is bricked for Huawei.
I'm here to say about the ****ty service of Huawei/Honor and the way I bought back the device to life.
I submitted this out of warranty device to official service center 1 month back and kept calling them every 2 days to check if they were able to flash the firmware but they continuously failed. Guess what ? Thy didn't even know how to boot the device into fastboot with test point and had no idea about ADB drivers. I had to revisit them after 2 weeks to teach them about test-point boot which they confirmed after calling them repeatedly. After booting into fastboot, for unlocking the FRP of the device I own and have the bill on my own name- They demanded my complete identity proofs for submitting it to the company to get the unlock code. They didn't even accept the photocopy of the blurred out personal details on Identity proof and shouted back at me to send the copy which contains every single detail of mine including address, personal identification number which is linked to my bank accounts etc. I sent them the photocopy of the proof with no real use. They ask me to come down again to check if I could help them in flashing firmware using their basic tools. Finally, they returned the device and they claimed it as a motherboard fault. FFS this was the first company I ever encountered which couldn't recover their own device and pushes service guys to claim it as a motherboard issue(Yes! Terms of the company says so which is accepted by the service guy).
I bought the device back home and used DC Pheonix! Paid 19 Euros for DC Pheonix & HCU timed license and flashed the firmware within 5 minutes. BOOM! Everything back to normal. This was the device which was declared as a motherboard issue by the company which sold it and got repaired by an unofficial software within 5 minutes.
Gave this device to my mom for temporary use and bought the POCO few weeks back. Neither going back to Huawei/Honor nor allowing my acquittances to purchase such useless devices from a company who can't recover their own phones and locks down boot-loaders forever to steal customers data.

Out of warranty sadly.
Nothing is accessible in the phone except the boot logo, force restart. Forcing it into recovery & fastboot just presents the same logo screen again. I'm currently waiting for the battery to drain off and present a different screen as few users suggested in search results.

We can only unlock the bootloader if FRP is unlocked which is not the case here. Anyways, I gave the device to the service center and don't care about it anymore. Most probably those guys blatantly state it as a motherboard issue and I have to eventually unlock it with DC pheonix in the end and donate the device to anyone.

Same here in VN, many people have same problem and Huawei 's solution is changing mainboard....lol....which is now same price with an old Honor6x
The main reason for locking bootloader is sell mobile or give to the next generation (family)
But locked bootloader didn't ask for food let it be,
If something went wrong realme doesn't provided flashing tool so u have to go to service center ,
As well if possible don't downgrade device it's also not recommended becouse some device get in big trouble eg my old moto g5s plus loss IMEI
Tso follow as per wish
