I've been sitting on 5.1.7 rooted with TWRP for awhile. Got the OTA to 5.1.8 and accidentally clicked install. Will I just have to reinstall magisk when it's done?

That worked, thanks!
Is it also possible to flash the rom.
After that magisk and then twrp.zip?

You can download the full ROM, flash it in TWRP, flash TWRP.zip, reboot recovery, flash magisk, reboot and done.
Last week I flashed the ota as full rom image via fastboot. Then booted and everyting was ok. But then, rebooted into recovery and it just wiped everything without any option. So, my guess is to flash ota via fastboot, fladh twrp via fastboot, reboot to twrp and then install magisk ?
P.s. after update to 5.1.8, does your rear camera portrait mode is working ? My not.

You probably ran the fasboot command with wipe option included.
Ok, what is the correct command to run via fastboot ?

So I had my phone rooted, with TWRP recovery, and today I've received a notification for 5.1 update, and when I pressed Install and reboot, it rebooted directly into TWRP, so I can't update it (or didn't find a way). Is there any way to update it now without wiping data?
There's a whole thread on the ota process in the general forum. You should read it. The ota will not work with a custom recovery. You need the stock recovery which you can install using fastboot. There are other requirements too. You have to be 100% stock system, kernel and recovery.

Just flash the ota zip via twrp you will loose all root and your system modifiactions which are reversible!

Are you flashing via bootloader? Or are you flashing it in twrp?
Download philz
Plug phone into computer
Boot to bootloader
Flash recovery
Reboot phone
Boot to recovery
Should be on philz now

Why do you want to update twrp when there is nothing wrong with it?
If you do update twrp to a newer version it would not reset anything.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I'd also like to move onto 3.0.0.0 because MTP does not work on 2.8.7.1. I have tried everything and am unable to move anything off the phone in TWRP.

Nothing will be reset. Just download the version for your device in .IMG format and flash it in TWRP or via Odin. I have no issues with 3.0 and have been using it since it became available.

Download Flashify via play store, download TWRP IMG and flash via Flashify. Note be sure to select recovery IMG not boot IMG. Done!

So after I unlocked my bootloader I used the all in one tool to root and flash Magisk Seemed to go ok, but when I went to reboot I'm stuck at the G screen and then it goes back to twrp.
I flashed the patched boot image but it still isn't working.
What do i need to do?

I ended up going back to stock and then redoing the root/magisk process and everything worked ok. Must have been a weird issue, but it's working now.

I flashed the factory image via the all in one tool, then rooted and flashed magisk via the tool as well.
The only difference step I took was that I decrypted twrp. Not sure if that was the issue but I'm all working now!!

If you didn't allow modifications when twrp first booted that is the issue.

I also have the problem, but I can not find an .img file in the offical firmware. I extracted it but only got these files:
META-INF
care_map.txt
compatibility.zip
payload.bin (size: 1.2G, the largest)
payload_properties.txt
I assume that payload.bin may contain something I need, but I can not open it.

That's not the factory image. It looks more like it might be a custom rom of some sort. Google pixel factory image. You need the full image, not the ota. Extract this. Inside is another zip file, extract that too. In there you'll find the boot image.
Edit, what you extracted is the ota. I've never extracted one before so didn't recognize it. There's never been a reason to extract it.

Hello everyone,
Right now I'm running the last beta of Android 10
The phone is unlocked and it is rooted
Is there a way for me to install Android 10 and not lose what I've done to the phone
Or am I better off starting from scratch
And if that is the case what are the steps I need so I don't brick my phone
I am unable to install the update......"Couldnt install try again", this is the error i am getting.............i am on latest android 10 beta
When jumping from beta to stable, or one version to another, a clean flash is always recommended.
But, if you want to update without wipe, I suggest you do the following:
- Download the full factory image of android 10
- Unzip it
- Find and edit the "flash-all" script (there are 3 of them, the .bat is for windows etc..)
- Remove the "-w" from the last line and save
- Go in fastboot mode
- Launch the modified script
It will flash the update without wiping the device. Of course since it's an update, it will remove root, custom kernel and twrp, but data will be preserved.
If you prefer to wipe, don't remove the "-w" from the script. Before launch it, remember it will wipe also the /sdcard totally, so backup to your pc what you need.
I did a clean flash and I can tell it feels more fluid and fast, also you avoid possible errors during the upgrade
If you have twrp installed, you can;
-download latest full ota zip to phone
-flash ota in twrp
-flash twrp zip after ota
-reboot recovery
-flash latest magisk zip
-reboot
This won't wipe anything, is just a dirty flash.
Cheers

I want to flash the full image, without wiping so ill remove the -w. But I see there are two packages for Android 10 on googles page. Do you know which version to download if im in the USA with Tmobile? Thanks.
Mine automatically did the second one when I accepted the OTA from the carrier. The "20" one.

Sorry, can't help you with that as I'm not familiar with custom kernels and flash orders.
Maybe ask in that specific thread?
