Hi!
Just upgraded from a 5T to a 6.
And one thing that annoys me a lot is that even on the lowest step of the volume, notification sounds are still super loud. In a quiet home environment it's awful.
I splitted the notification and call ringtone volume bars with Gravitybox but there is still no way to turn this down.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks!!

It's so loud because people complaining it was too low in previous releases. Blame them

It's loud because some bright light thought that if the previous maximum was too low, then, even if nobody complained about the minimum, they should increase the volume on the both ends of the scale. Better blame the 1+ guy with the same logic as this one!!!

Yup no complaints whatsoever, except for literally hundreds of complaints on the OnePlus 6 forums....
I remember this is one of the first things I noticed when I got my device. The min notification volume is pretty aggressive in comparison to what it was like on my OP5. I liked the subtle notification volume (at the minimum setting).
You could potentially get the notification sound file, manually reduce the volume in the file, and then set that as your notification sound

:good: a ton of complaints about the maximum beeing too low. But we are talking about the minimum that was upped. Should I have an issue about the minimum beeing to low I would just turn it up a notch, because there is a way up. But there is no way to turn it down because now the minimum is too loud while the complaints were about the maximum beeing too low. They fixed one and ruined another.
Use volume control, use the separate ringer and notification setting
Has anyone found a way to adjust this in a root folder?

you mean because some fall from one extreme into the other, those who don't like both extremes are to blame. for the rest same like above.

you can use a custom kernel and/or install a kernel tweaking app to see whether you can tune audio by reducing speaker and other "gain"
the kernel has to support this but who knows, perhaps stock kernel does or you install elementalX kernel and reduce speaker gain.
default is +18dB, i reduced mic gain to 9dB but those values are personal preference, you'd have to play with the settings a bit.

I LOVE this Rom and its my daily driver. But I have one problem. It's TOO loud for my liking. So what I'm asking is there any way to lower the system volume altogether so it won't be as loud? Thanks guys
Are you having issues with your settings > sound > Volume? What does it do when you change the volume? I haven't had volume issues since we were in the double digit revisions..
I mean the overall volumeseems very loud no matter what setting it is on. I've never had this problem with any other rom

That's due to the newly added Bravia engine in the latest release.
Most users have always complained the max volume was too low, well that is no more.
At this time, there is no method of changing that, other then reverting back to r230 if you prefer the lower volume.
Thanks! I'll keep that in mind.
But seriously, this wasn't an issue before JB. I listen to music at night with my headphones on, to drown out my husband's snoring. Before (I think before the JB update, but not positive), I could put it on a very low volume, and I'd barely hear it. This was great, as it didn't wake me up when a louder song came on.
Since upgrading to JB (again, I think that's when it started), the volume "slider" has specific notches and can no longer be set to any volume along the spectrum. The lowest "notch" is too loud at night and keeps waking me up.
Anybody know of an app or setting or something that would revert this back to a free sliding volume switch, where I could go so low, almost to the point of barely hearing it? I was startled nearly out of my pajamas last night, when Van Morrison screeched something in the middle of a relatively sedate song.
Thanks in advance!

if you have CWM installed i can fix that for you..
I haven't noticed a difference in volume since the update, but I never have the volume that low. You could just get headphones with inline volume controls to decrease the volume.
I never even used ics on this tablet so I don't know either..

Edit it how? Looking at the file, which is in the system/etc folder for those wondering, it is fairly non-intuative. What would you change to reduce the volume ?

CWM... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2080366
CWM lets you install/change things on your tablet that the Company don't normally allow.. I have a sound mod that you could install if you havd cwm installed..
Noozxoide .... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2111763
This is a loud/ sound mod i enhanced... you can look at the review video in the link to see how it works.. I notice a big difference when using it and this mod works with any app on your tablet not just music players.. There is a version in the Playstore but doesn't work correct so i enhance it with some mods there is also a Equalizer included to lower or raise volume if needed..

And this would allow me to make the minimum volume lower? Everything I've been looking at is all about making things louder.

Sorry i read this wrong.. i thought you wanted it louder.. but yes you can still use the equalizer with this and set everything low so the volume will also be lower.. and when you need that extra boost it will be there also...
install the market version and turn down the eq settings might help.. You dont need CWM with this version.. you have to download it because the tablet is incompatible with it in the playstore.. once installed open the app and click on app to open it..
the top option is for your headphones
the middle option is for the tablet speakers
the bottom is for bluetooth

Thanks for providing this. I installed it and have no idea what to do with it. I know I have to select the first option, but after that I'm lost. And I don't notice any changes in sound with the headphones on, when I change any of these settings. Any idea what I might want to change to get lower minimum volume?
Edit: I selected this as my MusicFX option, under my Sound settings.

Hi, I've update the op6 to oos 5.1.6, but I noticed that with the minimum volume the sounds are TOO LOUD. Is impossible to mantain the phone with the sounds on at work with this volume. There are any methods or a different way to reduce the volume of system+ringtone+notification (because OP has merged in a only one volume)?
I am rooted and I have twrp.
Change volume percentage (original mininimum is 14%, I tried 4%) with automate or something like this, doesn't function.

You can try gravity box to separate notification and ringtone volume or a custom kernel to edit the speaker loudness :good:

I have the same issue. I have had to turn notifications off for Facebook and Messenger as its too loud. The only other way to stop them is to set the slider switch on the side of the phone to vibrate....
I thought it was just me, but not being able to totally volume down notifications is a major flaw in this firmware

You can try disabling Absolute volume in Developer Settings
spotify sometimes "normalizes" volume so it may be doing that also.
in spotify settings turn off that option

I don't really use Spotify so this may not be accurate, my volume is about the same as my s9+ was over bt, but I installed ainur sauron mk3 and my headphones got a little bit louder.

I tried the "good old" OnePlus 5T "trick", unpair your headphones and repair them, this fixed my issue with my aire2's as the volume was really low, and when speaking on the phone, the sound from my mic was really noisy in the other end, so now everything runs perfect!
Volume In spotify
I was having the same problem and what fixed it for me was forgetting the device in Bluetooth settings, then reset the Bluetooth device. After I paired them back up the sound hurt my ears because it was turned all the way up lol
Use viper4androidfx ? Kind of a must have for audio anyway and you can manually adjust the output in db
Ah lol just noticed the thread is old af.. nvm then
I am having the same problem. Coming from Huawei Mate 20 X, the volume is too low. Even on maximum output (doesn't matter if absolute volume is enabled or not) the volume through my Sony WH1000-XM3 is one or two steps too low compared to the Huawei.
For listening at home it is fine but when out and about in busy city, it is quite annoying.
Any fix?
I'm also seeing the same issue coming from a Note 10+, I'd say this is around 20% lower volume in comparison.

Hi folks !
I am a new OnePlus Nord user.
I like it but I am missing some useful features , for me really necessary.
I can't find a way to set gradual increase of volume for ringtone and for my morning wake-up.
When using standard ringtones the volume is too high when I am in office but too low when I am at work in noisy environments.
With previous Android smartphones I was used to set a starting low volume followed by a smooth increasing volume rate.
It there a way to set gradual ringtone ? I am rooted with Magisk on latest Oxygen OS 11.AC01BA (EU).
An other question: can I enable a stereo sound effect using earpiece ?
Thanks for your kind reply.

Hi,
1) unfortunately there seems to be no option for this
2) when I pair my BT ear pieces, they produce stereo sound, at least I perceive this to be the case. Can you be more specific on this one?
Cheers
