OxigenOS 5.1.6 sounds too loud also at minimum volume. - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hi, I've update the op6 to oos 5.1.6, but I noticed that with the minimum volume the sounds are TOO LOUD. Is impossible to mantain the phone with the sounds on at work with this volume. There are any methods or a different way to reduce the volume of system+ringtone+notification (because OP has merged in a only one volume)?
I am rooted and I have twrp.
Change volume percentage (original mininimum is 14%, I tried 4%) with automate or something like this, doesn't function.

You can try gravity box to separate notification and ringtone volume or a custom kernel to edit the speaker loudness :good:

I have the same issue. I have had to turn notifications off for Facebook and Messenger as its too loud. The only other way to stop them is to set the slider switch on the side of the phone to vibrate....
I thought it was just me, but not being able to totally volume down notifications is a major flaw in this firmware

[Lollipop] Volume Panel?

One of the gripes I have with android L is that if im playing music through google play, I can't change the volume of the ringer while the music is playing. It just adjusts the music volume. Is there an expandable volume panel object of some sort? thanks.
Also interested in this, subscribed.
There is an app called Noyze that seems to be what we are after but it needs to be updated because it can't be activated in lollipop...
Settings -> Sound & Notification
Yeah great. If you git a mo3 or video screaming way to loud I will go to settings and then....
Thats ridiciculous.
An expandable volume panel has just been added in the latest Cataclysm ROM update.

Well no because if you have media playing, the volume keys control the media. There's no problem there. OP wants to adjust ringtone volume whilst media is playing. Volume keys won't control ringtones until media is stopped.
Try Volume Button by Yogesh Dama. Not exactly what you what but it may be enough until we see this in custom ROMs.

[Q] Lowest volume is too loud - how to fix?

Lowest media volume is OK and has a fair number of "notches". Ringtone & notifications and alarm volumes are too loud at lowest setting and have fewer "notches". How can I add more "notches" and lower the lowest volume for these two? Using CM11 - don't know if that's important.

Disable the beep sound on volume change

Hello,
Is there a way to disable that annoying *BEEP* sound when adjusting the volume over Bluetooth?
There is nothing in /system/media/audio/ui/ that is related to this.

You can bring up the volume controls and adjust volume from there.

It still beeps even if i use the slider.
Also, in Settings>Sounds>Other sounds there is an option to disable the volume adjustment sounds, but it doesn't work - I hear BEEP on every level of adjustment.

Well, I'm not exactly sure about that, because the beeps are in every ROM and on every version of Android. I've read in the Samsung subforums that there is a line in framework. jar that is related to the volume adjustment sounds, which uses ToneGenerator for the beep, but all this is above my field of knowledge.

Minimum notification volume too loud

Hi!
Just upgraded from a 5T to a 6.
And one thing that annoys me a lot is that even on the lowest step of the volume, notification sounds are still super loud. In a quiet home environment it's awful.
I splitted the notification and call ringtone volume bars with Gravitybox but there is still no way to turn this down.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks!!

It's so loud because people complaining it was too low in previous releases. Blame them

It's loud because some bright light thought that if the previous maximum was too low, then, even if nobody complained about the minimum, they should increase the volume on the both ends of the scale. Better blame the 1+ guy with the same logic as this one!!!

Yup no complaints whatsoever, except for literally hundreds of complaints on the OnePlus 6 forums....
I remember this is one of the first things I noticed when I got my device. The min notification volume is pretty aggressive in comparison to what it was like on my OP5. I liked the subtle notification volume (at the minimum setting).
You could potentially get the notification sound file, manually reduce the volume in the file, and then set that as your notification sound

:good: a ton of complaints about the maximum beeing too low. But we are talking about the minimum that was upped. Should I have an issue about the minimum beeing to low I would just turn it up a notch, because there is a way up. But there is no way to turn it down because now the minimum is too loud while the complaints were about the maximum beeing too low. They fixed one and ruined another.
Use volume control, use the separate ringer and notification setting
Has anyone found a way to adjust this in a root folder?

you mean because some fall from one extreme into the other, those who don't like both extremes are to blame. for the rest same like above.

you can use a custom kernel and/or install a kernel tweaking app to see whether you can tune audio by reducing speaker and other "gain"
the kernel has to support this but who knows, perhaps stock kernel does or you install elementalX kernel and reduce speaker gain.
default is +18dB, i reduced mic gain to 9dB but those values are personal preference, you'd have to play with the settings a bit.

How to increase Bluetooth volume?

I've a pair of Bose Bluetooth headphones but listening to Spotify the volume is very low. How can I increase it? I've rooted and magisk installed.

I've had the same issue when using Bluetooth headphones
You can try disabling Absolute volume in Developer Settings
spotify sometimes "normalizes" volume so it may be doing that also.
in spotify settings turn off that option

Get better headphones. Or try this;

I don't really use Spotify so this may not be accurate, my volume is about the same as my s9+ was over bt, but I installed ainur sauron mk3 and my headphones got a little bit louder.

I tried the "good old" OnePlus 5T "trick", unpair your headphones and repair them, this fixed my issue with my aire2's as the volume was really low, and when speaking on the phone, the sound from my mic was really noisy in the other end, so now everything runs perfect!
Volume In spotify
I was having the same problem and what fixed it for me was forgetting the device in Bluetooth settings, then reset the Bluetooth device. After I paired them back up the sound hurt my ears because it was turned all the way up lol
Use viper4androidfx ? Kind of a must have for audio anyway and you can manually adjust the output in db
Ah lol just noticed the thread is old af.. nvm then
I am having the same problem. Coming from Huawei Mate 20 X, the volume is too low. Even on maximum output (doesn't matter if absolute volume is enabled or not) the volume through my Sony WH1000-XM3 is one or two steps too low compared to the Huawei.
For listening at home it is fine but when out and about in busy city, it is quite annoying.
Any fix?
I'm also seeing the same issue coming from a Note 10+, I'd say this is around 20% lower volume in comparison.
