Had my P20 since about 3 weeks and it looks like something is peeling off the bottom edge of the fingerprint sensor...
Not sure whether it has any protective foil on it that i am ok to just pull off... or is this button just going to fall apart soon...
Confused...
I have phone for 3 months and nothin is peeling off

Hello people
The membrane on my touch pro (the one covering the buttons below the screen) is starting to peel off. Its almost unnoticeable at the moment, smaller than a millimeter but it seems it could go off more
Apart from getting some sort of case (i.e. a silicone one) anything else I could do in order to avoid it?
Should I just peel it completely off just to get it off my mind?!
It will keep peeling. Especially from pulling and putting back in your pocket. Its VERY common.
2 options
1 replace the entire button pad. (pretty cheap on ebay)
2 take a small bit of super glue to the corners to keep it from curling up. (looks a little ugly because the corners will still be discolored from being peeled in the first place.)
Ive thought about peeling the entire thing off, but not sure if it would have any negative effects.
Additionally, duct tape works wonders I hear...
Don't buy these

They break the proximity sensor (phone thinks it's near your head all the time). This is my experience, YMMV.
I guess you could cut a hole but it's bit of a PITA.
Mine are already on the way. What's the fit like excluding this problem?

They're a little on the small side but not too bad, I had mine fitted perfectly and it covers only the actual live area of the screen width wise, and is a little short of the top and bottom of the glass height wise, maybe 2 or 3mm.
I just did a little testing of the proximity sensor with my hand, without the protector on, and it seems that the proximity sensor only turns the screen off when the phone is vertical not when laying flat. Might test some more with the protector. I had to rip it off to end a call earlier!
Just done a bit more testing and indeed, hold the phone vertical while on a call and put the screen protector on, screen turns off, take it away, screen turns on. When the phone is flat the proximity sensor does nothing so if you put the phone flat while in a call you can access the keypad etc.
SGP ultra clear blocks the proximity sensor too

I spoke to an SGP UK agent on Tuesday. He said SGP are revising their design to allow for this. Said should have the new version sometime next week.
I have some cheap screen protectors that used to cover my SGS2 proximity sensors and had no problems, guess I'll report back when I get my phone ):
I have a BSE on order. I hope that doesn't do it :'(

If any protectors do cover it, a hole puncher should take care of it pretty easily. It may not result in the prettiest results, but it will get the job done until all of the manufacturers revise their designs to not cover it.
That works well enough for now

I bought from same seller in ebay, not a good fit (very short) and have proximity sensor issue as well.
hi guys
i wanted to buy s7 but home button scratching issue really got me worried.
does the scratches on pearl white look disturbing as on the black ones? and does it affect the fp sensor detection and speed?
tnx in advance
If you use metal, razor and chainsaw then yes, the button does gets scratched.
Anyways what is the this Black Onyx "scratch issue" ?
I have the silver one and have been using the fingerprint scanner lock screen. Absolutely no scratches at all.
I've only spotted this today, but I have two pretty deep scratches on my home button, and apparently this isn't uncommon. Guessing the fingerprint scanner will give out in the next two years.
Oh well...
Well. mine started months ago. It now 1/3 black on the surface of the home button (I got gold color).
However the fingerprint scanner still works well, without any problem.
I guess the painting was really bad.
Replacing the whole screen is not an option tho.
Is it as good as the day you bought it though?
No scratches on mine
My first S7 edge was Black Onyx, the home button did get scratched, but they weren't as bad or as noticeable as the ones on my Silver Titanium one.
It scratched a lot quicker than the black and it's obviously a lot more noticeable.
Hasn't affected the fingerprint scanner for me though. Still works perfectly fine.
Got the gold one and just recently saw the first scratch. Not using the fp sensor though
I've got a scratch or two on mine, too. Presumably it doesn't have glass on it so the FP scanner can work - hence why it's more susceptible.
Hey, when i receive and accept a call, my screen immediately turns off. Like it should when i put my ear up to it. But during the call i cant do anything to get the screen to turn on. After the call i have to press the lock button and unlock it again to get it on.
1) bootloader unlocked
2) custom kernel?
3) stock ROM?
4) rooted?
6) What version of the OS are you on? MM 6.0.1 / .511
7) This is recent, tried with 2 different roms so it isnt rom reliant i guess.
8) When in service menu and testing the light sensor it responds on my hand covering the sensor so i don't think its faulty.

Mostly, screen protector cause that. Second sensors might be broken. Software is the last thing (if comes with stock)..
Go to *#*#7378423#*#* service test and go to proximity sensor, if it stays "ON" something is wrong with the proximity sensor, if you are absolutely 100% sure nothing is blocking your sensor, have you ever changed your display assembly? try pressing down around the top right of screen with a little force, both front and back if it switched to "OFF" when you press your screen there's a slight gap between your motherboard and front glass.

Holy this is it. I had to get my front glass replaced because it was shattered, when i press the screen it turns off, when i block the sensor it goes back to on again until i press on the screen. Also my vibrator motor seems to not function properly since, it sometimes doesnt vibrate at all, and sometimes with very little feedback. Could this also be a result of the replacement?

It could be the glue is not settling in correctly and adds very little gap than original one, did you replace the screen yourself? Mine showed this behavior I then reheat the edges of the screen with hair dryer then put pressure around the screen with those black paper clips, reheat it again then let it cool for about 2 hours.
I'm not entirely sure about the vibrator motor

No, I had it done by a company in phone repairs. But i kinda regret fixing it instead of buying a new phone tbh..

I bought this phone second hand and it had this issue, What I did was hair dryer and paperclip. and ..... try a more ghetto solution, which involves opening the back door, put some foam and double tape it near the camera module, there's an empty space. Make sure it presses the motherboard but not too hard or it will compromise the waterproof glue holding the back cover.

Just for info is someone has this problem, i had small skin flake on the sensor hahahha.
