Urgent Issue - OP6 stopped working - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
unfortunally i just started have some issues with my OP6.
I was writing in Whatsapp on my way back home when all of the sudden the phone said: "shutting down", which took about 30 seconds and then the phone shut down. After holding the power button im getting a screen with a OnePlus Logo and a keyboard, supposely to insert some kind of password. There is also a button which sais: "Forget password" which gives me a hint that the phone will completely wipe itself if pressed. (which i dont really want to do)
About the phone: Got it on release day and didnt modify anything til date (shame on me). So it was running lates OOS 5.1.8, bootloader locked and no root.
Any idea where is problem is comming from or more importantly, how to fix it?

The pin is your security pin to enter recovery that you set when setting up the phone I would suggest inputting this and wipe cache , don't worry you will see option wipe data / cache select this and will give you 2nd option to just wipe cache do this and reboot see if helps

You accidentally rebooted to recovery

Yeah I would try not doing that because a user a while back said their phone had rebooted to that screen OP is describing and when they entered their pin it wiped their phone.

Thanks for ur suggestions.
I didnt accidently boot into recovery as this screen is always appearing on boot up so that i cant boot into the OS.
I just tried to put in the pin but it didnt accept. i honestly dont really remember assigning any password because i ususaly want to avoid these kind of issues.

Maybe there's a default password if didn't set one up or poss only way is to factory reset , or try Op support if can't wipe it

I once had some kind of similar issue with my 3T after rooting and booting up for the first time, but to long ago to remember correctly.
No, i preordered on Amazon and got it first day. Since then i only do my daily stuff (music, texting, youtube) and updated OOS per internal updater

There should be no password of any kind for a brand new device. Perhaps Amazon is advertising some kind of a scam seller joint unknowingly? Have you been buying from scammers for years?

*ignore me*

Explain now what it was , we wonder.

Please read the post. He has already stated he bought it on release day.

There is a way to go into TWRP file browser locate the password file and delete it!
I can't remember how to do it but I did it after forgetting my password on my 3t after restoring a very old nandroid backup.

That's the one, looks like it won't help it it's set in TWRP itself.

Any chances it's some kind of malware? Sounds very weird to me either.

Damn, that just happened to me. Just upgraded from 9 stable to beta 6, tried to reboot to recovery only to be greeted with that pin screen. I entered my (correct) PIN and it proceded to wipe the phone by itself, no warning whatsoever! Wtf...

[Q] Data reset does not do a complete reset.

Hi i recently got a samsung nexus S, and i have not did any modifications to it like flashing custom roms on it or anything. So its straight up as original as it is.
But i seem to be having a problem with it now as it does not do a clean data wipe even if i do it with a hard reset? The one where u press and hold the power button and volume up. After that i tried doing a reset from the Settings section, it rebooted and came back on with everything still on my phone ! Nothing was deleted at all!
Anyone has any solutions to this?

Just go to settings -> privacy settings -> factory data reset.
yeah i did that, and it rebooted up, and everything was still there lol
Apps, contacts, and some settings like wifi info will automatically come back when u log into your Google account.

I've NEVER seen that happen before, I honestly think you're somehow doing it wrong.

ok first a factory reset thru the settings option.
i went to settings > Privacy > factory data reset i dun think i can get that wrong.
when i do that it shuts off my phone. Reboots up, and i was expecting a clean phone. But everything is still there...
Nxt is hard reset, i shut off my phone, i press and hold the power and volume up until the recovery screen comes up, i select recovery, when the exclamation mark appears beside the android i press the power and volume up button again to bring up the menu and i select wipe data/factory reset. It says wiping...and when its done i select reboot system now, and it loads back to my phone ... with everything still there! hahah xD
unlock the bootloader, thatll automagically wipe the phone(and everything in storage).
hello, my friend just helped me with root/flash my phone, and the system supposedly did a factory reset.
But everything is still there =( im starting to think its a virus?
Im gonna scan it, but does anyone has any experience with these type of problems?

Like someone said before, if you don't uncheck it Google will automatically install apps from your market account after putting in your account data.
yes i unchecked it already, and i doubt google will put back all my mp3 and pictures even after i did a factory reset? I don't really think thats possible...
But anyways, yes i unchecked the automatic restore box.
sorry for the troubles im causing =(
*EDIT*
Do u guys think i would be able to format my phone by using my computer to format it like any other hard disk?
Factory reset doesn't wipe the (fake) SD card by default. Did you check the box for that?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
mp3's and pictures are not affected by a factory reset. to get rid of that stuff, do Menu > Settings > Storage > Erase USB storage.
i did that too, i even did the hard reset which supposedly wipes all data? But i reboot back in and my pattern password screen comes back up along with my usual wall paper. All my widgets still there and its like i've nvr done a reset before.

you're either not doing it right or restoring data from google... try doing it without logging back into google
i did not log back into anything, i even switched to a prepaid card to make sure i had no connections to the outside world at all lol xD
anyways derek can u please tell me what im doing wrong? I am sure i followed all the steps correctly. And the screen prompted me to make sure i wanted to erase all data, i clicked yes, and it proceeds to the "wiping data" but then when i reboot it back, everything is still there.
EDIT* I found a thread mentioning a factory format code *2767*3855# in this forum, i tried it, and it tells me connection problem or invalid MMI code. Anyone knows what gives?
please download the stock images for your phone and flash them with fastboot.

New help removing ICS disk encryption...

Hi all,
I have a Samsung SII (T989) that's running rooted ICS 4.1.2 (tmobile)
and I enabled whole disk encryption that has been working fine for several months.
.
For some reasons, it did not accept my password to unlock now and it kept
asking me for password. It said after 20 tries it will erase so I entered after 20 times
and now it counts down saying that I have -10 tries and every time I entered a wrong
password, it just got to -1 more.
Is there a way to bypass this or how do I wipe it out back to stock? there is no option
to restore it back to stock?
yes, this is my phone and I am so frustrated. You all can see that I have been on this board for a long while.
I appreciate all your help.

You can boot in recovery (stock or custom, doesn't matter) and do a data / cache wipe. Or simply factory reset the phone.
If you still face problems, you can flash back to stock rom from odin.

You remember how you booted into recovery while rooting using the button combo?
Just boot into recovery mode and you will see options like apply update from sdcard
wipe data/reset phone
wipe cache etc.
Select wipe data/reset phone using volume up/down for scrolling througj options and home button for ok/select.
You will be asked for confirmation. Select yes and then reboot from the options you will get once it is done. Your device will be usable as it is. But you will loose all your data like contacts messages apps etc. You won't loose anything from sdcard though.
And just use the thanks button herafter for saying thanks.

A Hero Can Be Anyone. GENERAL HELP THREAD
Hi all,
can I get some help again...
I finally was able to get back to it.
The question now is:
- I cannot scroll any screen. I'm using Nova but I couldn't use my finger to scroll up and down?
It seems to be fine but I just couldn't scroll any screen.
- I couldn't pull down the status bar.
Basically, I could run any app that's on the screen, but I couldn't scroll
If this of any help: when I unlock the screen by pushing the numbers, I had to do every key twice
for it to register. For ex, to unlock the screen, before, I push '123', now I have to push '112233'
then ok twice for it to unlock. Everything is double.
Please help. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Never mind. Found that the setting->accessibility->explore by touch' was turned on for some reason and this made it unresponsive.
Turning it off made everything back to normal.

[Q] Wifi will not connect. Stucking in off mode

Hi, last night my wifi seemed to cut off while using my tablet. I tried to cut it back on and it got stuck in the "trying to connect to wifi" stage. I cant press the button and it wont turn back on. I was running Chromi X 4.6.6 at the time. Today, I flashed 4.6.8, hoping it would reset and fix the problem, but the problem still is there. I am really nervous I broke my wifi chip or something. Here is a screenshot of what is happening. I hope someone can help me.
Thank you.

Just do a factory wipe. As long as you don't do a full data wipe you will keep your nandroids if they are on internal.

**** me. Restored back to 4.6.4. Wifi is still broken. Gets to the the "Turning Wi-Fi- on..." screen and never turns on. I am freaking out.
Do you think doing this will work? And if so, how do I start a terminal session?
I've had the Bluetooth not turning on issue four times on my TF101 - the first two times a hard reset (no data loss) fixed it - have you tried this, as opposed to a restart? - and the next two times I just waited and eventually BT turned on. I've never encountered this with WiFI (yet).
In case anyone else encounters this, on a rooted tablet the following might also help:
Open a terminal session and -
su - <enter>
cd /system/bin <enter>
stop bluetoothd <enter>
start bluetoothd -n <enter>
This will force stop and then restart the Bluetooth daemon. I haven't yet worked out (mainly because I haven't need to) what the equivlent process is for WiFi.

I got that problem before. I believed that this was what I did if you want to try it out:
1. Wipe both Caches and data
2. Restart your system
3. Shut it off again
4. Go to recovery and select the Android for a cold boot
5. Restart it again and it work for me
I don't know why I had to go through that sequences but I seem to work for me, good luck.

Hehe, I have been there so many times before. You can use the volume up to select and volume down to confirm. Any way, did you tweak your device before the problem? Did you use D2SD? Maybe you explain a little more details what you did so that people have better understanding of your problem. The worse case is you have to flash the rom again .

OK. I was running Chromi-X 4.6.6 ODEX at the time it happened. I used to use a micro sd card but it was acting weird and I took it out. I have been using only the internal SD for the last ~3 months. I use _that/ stock modded kernel variant based from ASUS Stock that comes with the ChromiX mod. I run Apex launcher. Android version 4.2.1.
Using TWRP 2.5 on 10.6.1.14.4 via goomanager.
So far I have tried:
- Flashing ChromiX 4.6.8
- Recovering an old nandroid backup (4.6.4)
- Clearing cache and data via TWRP and restarting with cold boot

1. Boot back into twrp and select wipe, use format option instead of wipe
2. Install cromi x, prefer 3.6.5
3. After the installation is completed, restart your tablet and leave it there for a few minutes
4. Make sure that you must SHUT IT OFF COMPLETELY for a few seconds and turn it back on
Hope it will solve your problem, good luck.

When I try to flash using ODIN, it fails due to FRP lock. Is there any way to bypass FRP lock on a device that's in airplane mode, not connected to Wifi and the screen is locked?

Hi mate
You need to enter the old Google password of the phone , in order to avoid this you should had disable it before you factory reset the phone

I appreciate your feedback, but there's nowhere to enter a password. The screen is locked and I don't have the passcode. I'm trying to wipe it but can't. I can't flash it because FRP lock. So the phone has not been reset yet because I cant. Thanks tho

You mention it was on airplane mode , no wi-fi so your phone boots up , right? usually when it first boot it should ask you introduce the password of your associated email ( google most cases).
But explain what happened , how you got FRP without reseting the phone ?

OP check your Google account to see if its has been accessed, unauthorized.
Possible hardware failure otherwise.
I have access to the Google account. It has not had unauthorized access.

In your first post, when you said "bootloader", do you actually mean the Android Recovery menu?

When I try to perform a factory reset on this device, and I get into the recovery, there is no option to "Wipe/Factory Reset."Any idea how to get this thing reset?

Simultaneously press and hold the Volume up and side buttons until the device vibrates and the Android Recovery screen appears then release all buttons. Allow up to 30 seconds for the recovery screen to appear. From the Android Recovery screen, select Wipe data/Factory reset.

Seriously? Why didn't I think of that? On a serious note, if you read the thread you'll see that this doesn't work.

Reading is hard, mmmkay?
It sounds like you're dealing with an MDM lock. FRP doesn't prohibit stock firmware from being flashed, but MDM does. And an MDM lock would also prevent it from being factory reset via the Recovery menu. I was asking for the Download mode picture in order to confirm the MDM status

Might be worth a few more tries. If you're timing or sequencing is off, it doesn't take. Unfortunately this skill isn't made better by stress. I miss 1-2 out 3 attempts at times.

Reading must be hard for you but I understand it. I didn't respond to you because there's no reason to attach a photo. I'm past it and this thread should be closed.
