Is there way to activate/see VoLTE ? - HTC U12+ Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
As mentionned in the title, is there a way to see or activate VoLTE.
Like on Samsung you've got the VoLTE logo in the notification tray.
I already contacted my carrer and they said "it's enable on the network side"

Is there any settings in the Dialer? Normally the Dialer settings offer control over certain Voice Network settings. If I remember right VoLTE should be an option

TMobile USA. Verizon don't have this option.

Check settings - Advanced Calling -
Verizon HTC 10

The HTC U12+ will not show this setting if you're on the Verizon network since VoLTE is in Verizon's exclusive advanced calling setting. Since this phone does not have Verizon software you will not see it. This is why so many people have trouble activating it properly.

I think it's worth that I imagined.
In France we have 4 carrier. One don't have volte at all (Free) the second one seems U11 compatible but not U12+ for the moment (SFR), the third one you have to buy a Samsung or an iPhone from them to get volte (Bouygues Telecom) and the fourth one you have to buy a Samsung or an iPhone as well (orange) ?
So it really depends of the choice of the carrier to support a phone or not
Sent from my HTC U12+ using XDA Labs

These phones do not support CDMA, they only support LTE on Verizon. If your on Verizon and you can make/receive calls, those calls are using VoLTE.
I spent 2 hours in the Verizon store while they figured this out, you have to have advanced calling provisioned on the line to make/receive calls with these phones because all calls use that feature.

The sim card must have HD calling activated on it before you can use it on the sprint network. The sim card from my M8 did not have HD calling activated on it and would not work when first inserted in my U11 the U12 is the same. I had to insert the sim in my wife's S9 and let the verizon tech activate HD calling through her phone the reinsert it in the U11 to get my Verizon HD calling to work.

If your carrier supports volte and wifi calling and your phone is supported by the carrier, you can enable it in the telephone app inside the settings.

Sadly, LTE is throttled to 5mbps :/ the AT&T sim would've been a much better choice considering HSPA+ alone is faster.
Sent from my XT1575 using XDA Free mobile app
does the data work when using the phone (voice and data)?
I have att straight talk also and I do agree with att ST I get anywhere from 15mb -20 but I happen to work in a dead zone and I work 12 hour days ...lonely days lol and Verizon ST I get full bars so the trade off is good and still watch YouTube in HD
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
How did you activate the device? I know a few workarounds, but when I try to activate on straight talk it forces the use of the at&t compatible sim card? The only way I know to use the Verizon towers are by giving ST an actual Verizon phone's IMEI, or by taking an already active sim from another Straight Talk - Verizon phone.
Sent from my Moto X Pure Edition using Tapatalk
Well I tried on the web sight but it kept giving me the run around not letting me activate it, so I called ST and they helped me out and was up and running in about 10 minutes , oh I also bought a Verizon Straight Talk Sim for it

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I have a question regarding ST/Verizon SIM activation.
When I enter my IMEI on StraightTalk's website, it shows it is compatible with the Verizon CMDA network, however the registration/activation process fails. I called ST, and they asked for my IMEI and are now telling me this device will not work with the Verizon network. Website still says it will work.
What process did you go through to get yours active using the ST/Verizon SIM card? The online process asks for my ZIP and IMEI, then SIM card number, then tells me the SIM is invalid. It never asks for the Network Access Code. Where is this used? Thanks for any input anybody can provide. I am currently using the phone with ST/AT&T but the signal in my area is terrible, Verizon is much better here.
I got it figured out. After numerous Straight Talk reps telling me the X Pure is not CDMA compatible, I decided to try activating using the IMEI of the device rather than the ST/VZW SIM card number. This worked like a charm. Still insert the SIM, everything is working as it should, voice, data (LTE).

Dual Sim

Ordered my 7 Pro this morning. Going to use it to replace my P3XL. How does the Dual Sim work? I currently carry two phones, both Verizon, one for Work and one Personal. Can I put both Verizon SIMs in this phone? Can they both work at the same time or is it one or the other?
Mahalo if anyone knows.
Yes, they will both work simultaneously. I also use a personal and a work sim in my OP6.
You will need to chose your standard in oos for sms, phone and data. But you can always be called at both sims.
Within the caller app you can, again, also decide which sim to use to make an outgoing call.
Within the quick toggles you will be able to change the sim for data on th fly.
Due to the build-in clone function in oos, you can even run 2 times Whatsapp for each phone number separately.
So overall it's super convenient. I would never go back to two phones.
If u ordered from T-Mobile US it will be single sim only

Yes, but of course, Verizon will only get LTE, no 2G/3G so if you are in the few remaining Verizon areas without reliable LTE you won't get service.

I need talk and text only, no data for secondary line - which would be better for this setup Verizon or AT&T (TMobile will be primary line, voice/txt/data/)

Depends, From my understanding Verizon will run talk/text on the LTE network now, AT&T you will get 2G/3G/LTE. Depends on what service has better signal in your area.
Cheapest would be a talk text only plan from us mobile probably

No hidden tray. On the dual sim tray a sim card can be placed on both sides of the tray. You have to purchase a dual sim tray.

dual sim advise
Hi Guys,
I have ordered my OP7 pro and waiting to receive it. I have question for those who have tried it already. How does TMobile and Verizon works together? are you able to setup separate visual voice mail account?
Also, when you are on one call on lets say Tmobile sim, and if someone tries to call you on Verizon line, does call go to voicemail directly or you get call notification as call waiting?
I would appreciate your advice on this matter
thank you

I have TMobile (sim1) and then Verizon prepaid talk and text (sim2)
When I'm on the phone with either line, and someone calls my other line, it goes to VM after few rings.
I couldn't get visual voicemail setup on either line, but it doesn't bother me, since whenever someone leaves VM I get notification and then just call it in. I like my phablet with less clutter hence why I've moved from note9 to opo7
Hope this helps...

Thanks for your help! any one here has any suggestions on if there is anyway to setup call waiting on second line while you are on call from first line? this may be deal breaker for me. any help will be appreciated.

Verizon to Verizon Incoming Calls Dropped

Is anyone else having this issue? I am on Verizon, and when I receive an inbound call from another person on Verizon, the call drops. If I call back, the call goes through and we can speak just fine. Inbound calls from non-Verizon numbers go through just fine when I answer them.
I've had the CDMA-less feature provisioned on my line, not sure what else to look for.

I've been working with Verizon for a few days to get this resolved. They are having thier engineers look into it. The other weird this is that all my calls (if the contact isn't in my contact list) comes through as restricted.
For me though I have narrowed it down to Verizon iPhone users.

I got the Verizon version with a new account from best buy for only $120. If you do device payments, it's only $5 a month thru best buy/$10 straight from Verizon. The 5G Mod is only $50 from Verizon right now, even though it only works in a few cities apparently. None of this answers your question, but maybe it'll help you make a decision anyway. I've had the phone since Monday and it's been great so far.
I have the Unlocked version. Seems to be working ok so far. I have not found anything not functioning properly.
I have not used an branded verizon phone in a long time. I usually look for an unlocked. I don't like all the crap that verizon pushes to your phone... Don't happen with unlocked... Go for the unlocked no regrets!!!

unlocked moto z4, with Verizon sim
voip works, but not Verizon wifi or video calling
use dialer code *#*#4636#*#* then phone information
scroll down there's switches for voip, wifi calling, and video calling. voip works and was on by default after inserting Verizon SIM.
Wifi and video calling are greyed out, and off.
IDK if Verizon can install their drivers or not, I haven't asked them.
Voice over lte works.
I have a brand new Z4 XT1980-3 that I just unlocked (bootloader unlock). The only problem with this model is that WiFi calling and Video calling are not possible on Verizon. Apparently they don't support those features on the XT1980-3. Those features are only available on the Verizon version (XT1980-4). So now that I'm bootloader unlocked, can I just flash the XT1980-4 firmware on the phone? Is that even possible? And will it enable the advanced calling features? I already downloaded the May 2019 firmware from here: https://www.getdroidtips.com/motoro...e-and-firmware-collections-back-to-stock-rom/
Just want to make sure it's safe to flash, and if it will in fact enable WiFi and video calling on the Verizon network. Thanks!

T-Mobile gm1915 no longer compatible with att's network

I know this might be a tricky question and I'm probably out of luck here, but I figured to still give it a try.
I currently have the T-Mobile's gm1915 op7 pro using att's network, and I was informed that this particular model will become obsolete once att phrase out its 3G service. Upon checking att's compatibility whitelist I realized that the only op7 pro model that att supports is the global/US unlocked gm1917 variant.
So my question is, is there any methods such as software spoofing that I could trick att's network into thinking that I have the gm1917 model?
The area I live in doesn't have T-mobile cellular coverage so changing carriers would be a pain , op7 pro has been a great phone and I would hate to give it up due to silly reasons like this.

The area I live in doesn't have T-mobile cellular coverage so changing carriers would be a pain , op7 pro has been a great phone and I would hate to give it up due to silly reasons like this.

I have the same model of phone and the exact same question. Although to add more info, it's not just that they are dropping 3g. They are also adding in "eSim" cards and requiring those. I suspect part of the reason the unlocked version of one 1+7p is allowed and the t-mobile one isn't has to do with eSim compatibility. I am however not sure and trying to navigate this bull**** REALLY quick. The sim card that came with the "free" phone att sent without asking provides full signal strength but I can't make any calls and I'm worried it maybe an issue that transcends the signal strength.
I don't get it, the gm1915 supports 4G bands right?

Afaik it's not just an issue of 4g bands. eSIm cards are (to my knowledge) different technology than regular sim cards. From what I'm reading it's not enough to know the phone is suppose to look for an at&t signal, but that there is a hardware component that allows eSims to program things differently.
I'm *REALLY* hoping someone will tell me I am wrong, but if I am correct this would also be why it wouldn't be enough to spoof info.
Ok I see. You need to reprogram the eSim.
If the phone's unlocked it should be doable.
GM1917 vs. GM1915 on AT&T
I'm leaning heavily towards getting a 7 Pro for my next phone. I'm on AT&T because it's the only game in town where I live. If I can get the GM1915 variant cheaper than the GM1917, can I convert it to essentially be a 1917 afterwards...

Have you tried AT&T advanced tech support?
Keep trying, some techs know a lot more than others.
They already disabled my sim, so I called and complained and they turned it back on. The phone is fully capable, if it wasn't there would be alot of others that would have to be replaced. They can't afford to just shut down that many phones and loose customers.
On this thread it's stated it won't work because of VoLte.

Do you have a source that I can look into? I believe Iphone 6 isn't esim enabled and yet still belongs in the att's whitelist.

I am currently using WiFi while my tires get changed after factory resetting my phone and won't be near my laptop for some time. Sorry.

T-mobile listed the gm1915 model on the website as VoLTE enabled, and op7 pro comes with all the bands att could possibly use. But yes I believe this is part of the problem, currently VoLTE is disabled for my device.
I have a feeling that att just didn't brother to make niche devices such as T-mobile op7 pro to be compatible with its own VoLTE network.

You might also be able to grill the guy who answered on reddit for more info.

Yeah it just happened to me recently, I also had to call in and get my service back on. But the representative told me that they're going to completely shutdown 3g service by Feb,2022. Which then the network will solely rely on VoLTE to support voice calls.
I have no problem getting LTE ,

Is it just LTE or VoLTE? In my settings I only see the 2G/3G/LTE option being default while I couldn't toggle on the VoLTE. 4g LTE only transmits data whereas VoLTE is more refined and support voice over. This will be a problem once att retire its 3g service as now the phone couldn't use VoLTE to call.

wow yeah how did you get volte to work? Did you enable any settings? volte is lte, but I was just making sure becuase it's not necessarily the other way around.
There are many custom roms that will enable it. I still don't understand why people are having so many issues with the gm1915. I have mine one android 11, fully rooted and have working twrp, still have safety net and widevine l1. Only issues I have had is trying to get wlan packet injection with custom Kernal on Android 11. No problem on 10.
Could be that I know how to generate the qr code to decrypt the engineer app. To activate all the bands
