Hi all,
I'm new to MIUI, trying to adapt myself to this new system interface. I am curently on MIUI 9.5.19 .
I am aware that it might be a really dumb question, but I searched through google and in Xda forum and I can't find where is the Autofill option in Parameters. It seems Google autofill is active because sometimes it works... I would like to change the autofill app to set Bitwarden by default which is much better in my opinion.
Can someone please say me how I can do that ?

Auto fill was added to android in 8.0 and is directly through the OS. From my understanding there is no way to set "bitwarden" as your default auto fill tool.
As soon as you login to a website/app you should see a prompt from the OS to save your password. Click save. Next time you login, it will auto fill.
This works for me and has worked for quite some time.
Thank you for your answer .
My previous phone was a OnePlus 3, and I flashed different Android Oreo and OxygenOS rom on it. Theses ROMs all had an option in "Language and input" (something like that) in Settings, in which I could set another Password autofill app. I will keep searching, maybe it's (really) well hidden somewhere in Settings.

I use google keyboard (GBOARD) on my device and cannot find any option in settings AND in GBOARD preferences to change the default autofill service. Other keyboards may allow you to do this, I am not sure.
Best of luck! :good:
For me it's working with Lastpass, just search in the search bar in settings app for autofill. On xiaomi.eu miui 9 rom it's under settings->additional settings-> language and input -> autofill-service. Phone language is german so I don't know if I translated correctly^^
In global ROM the menu is missing, you cannot chose autofill service. Still waiting for unlock to install .eu ROM
You could install LastPass as a workaround. When you go into settings in LastPass and click Autofill it opens the MIUI Settings Screen for Autofill in the Global ROM. Once MIUI Autofill Settings opens you can choose Google or LastPass and there is a + option for adding a different service.
OP see attached!!
This is on the latest miui 10 beta 8.7.5 dev global.
I was able to set auto fill service to my password manager (enpass) and can confirm it works!

When I decide to share something from an app (for example a photo from Google+), normally I have to choose the app to use for the sharing (Whatsapp, Twitter, Gmail, etc.).
With my Nexus 5 I don't have this option when I share a webpage from Chrome, Android send me directly to Gmail and the same happens when I try to share something from Falcon Pro too.
With other apps I haven't this problem.
Anyone wonder how to correct this?
Thanks!
Hi, I think it's a kitkat bug. It keeps in memory the last application you shared with.
To fix this go to Settings -> App -> All and choose from the menu "Reset preferences app" or something like that (I'm sorry but my language is italian).

I have a Chinese Honor 8 and have installed Google on it. Everything works fine but I cannot access the Google settings page. I know its there because I seen it pop up once asking if I want to enable Android Device manager.
Any idea how I can access it? When I go to accounts -> google and click on it, nothing happens.

Google settings has a separate app icon nowadays.
Hope so that it got hidden in any app groups. You need to check in the app groups.
If all the google apps will be inside any app group (Folder like thing). It might be inside that.

There's no icon for it, I checked everywhere.
On my other phones on Android 6 I must go to the Google account and the settings opens when you click on it. On this phone, nothing happens.

Yes of course. Everything works perfect and I know the Google settings app is there because it asked me something about device manager and I saw the Google settings. But there is no way for me to access it by myself.

Try with searching the settings by swiping downwards in home screen...
Let us know the result. So that we can get a clear idea on the thing.
Also thanks for mentioning the app name to do the workaround.

First thing I tried was the search, it couldn't find it. I spent literally an hour looking through the phone for a way to access the google settings. Using that app to create the shortcut was the only thing that worked.
Your probing for the solution and posting the solution for it will be useful for future people. Thank you...
Hi all,
I use Google on Tap alot in my studies in order to translate what's on my screen, including images. I did not use it much in December. However I tried using it today and now I can't access Google on Tap, instead it's completely replaced with "Enable Google Assistant", which I DO NOT want, since it lacks the one feature I use most!
Changing to an unsupported English language region used to stop Google Assistant hijacking the long press home, but now it seems that all of the language regions are supported by Google Assistant now.
Google searches show many results for enabling Google Ass, or outdated methods for disabling it.
Does anyone know another way to disable Google Assistant permanently?
Maybe some modification of the settings in Google menu could do the trick. Did you already tried with a simple method like this one https://www.skyneel.com/disable-google-assistant for example?

I can disable Google Assistant, however, previously it would show Google Now on Tap afterwards. Instead, it is completely replaced by the notification from the screenshot. I can find no other way in the Google settings to change back.
Disabling the feed does not disable Google Ass anymore, so that method no longer works.

Yup, that one. It scans a screenshot for names, locations, potential translations etc.
I read that Google Assistant has a "what's on my screen" button but that doesn't show on my phone, and I generally dislike that Google Assistant insists on mic being enabled. (voice search - not my thing - it's so impolite to talk to your phone when 1) in company or 2) in class.)

Ok perfect, got it. Yeah i dislike those mandatory to work permissions too, I've denied everyone of those. Try this so to find that option; go on Google app -> settings -> research from screen, and activate the first option. The sub-menu that contains the option to which I'm referring is the fourth from the bottom, in the menu visible in the screenshot that i attached. Lemme know if it'll works.

Yeah i saw. That's the maximum i can get by playing with settings in Google app. I'll look around a bit to check if it's possible to deactivate Assistant at all.
There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding lately about the Vivo Nex and the possibility to use a third party launcher on this phone.
Currently it's not possible, except when you have a Chinese phone number to create an Vivo account.
I'm just wondering for myself (interested in buying it) how can we users still unlock this phone. Maybe a central topic with tips would be a good idea for this community.
Got mine this afternoon, spent very little time w/it,just enough to get Google installed:
You can use Nova, but, you can't make it the default launcher,I tried in the settings,it will not allow for the stock launcher to be replaced, relegated to non-default status,w/o logging in to a Vivo account.
Until that is bypassed,or,you create a Vivo account,it's easy enough to place a shortcut to Nova wherever you want on the Vivo desktop & it'll take you to Nova desktop.
It's one extra step/tap vs a normal default launcher selection, but, not as big a deal as it's being made out to be..................
EDIT:
@Achillias
I was able to get another launcher to stick as the default, using a "Public" VIVO Account, provided by VIVO Support:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76958313&postcount=42
Just a heads-up, I bought my Nex in Shenzhen a few days back. Didn't fiddle around with it much yet either but what I do know now is that having a Vivo account (used a friend's Chinese cellphone number) does not let you fully use 3rd party launchers.
Downloaded Nova from Google Play Store, ADW from VIVO's own App Store and BB Launcher just to experiment. As soon as you set another launcher as default in settings menu (Settings - More Settings - Apps - Default App Settings) it will warn you it may destabilize your phone to switch launcher. You can however still confirm.
Press the navigation bar Home soft key however, and you're back in VIVO's own FuntouchOS launcher and in default settings menu reset it to FuntouchOS aswell.
To me placing a link on the home screen to another launcher is not a solution or suitable workaround. I simply press 'home' too often.
So unless there is some other Vivo account I haven't figured out yet given all the lack of possibility to change from Chinese to anything else in the Vivo app store, this is not the solution.
Love to hear anyone's thoughts and ideas on the matter!
One other thing regarding 3rd party apps, App stores:
I was able to side-load Amazon app store, but, couldn't install any apps from it, getting the same roadblock (need a VIVO account).
EDIT:
@monoke @ibreukers
The Amazon App Store works as usual, once you get a VIVO account set-up:

Had a feeling this Vivo account nonsense would be restrictive for certain apps as well besides launchers. What other side loaded apks from the Web has anybody tried? Any issues with those?
This is pretty much an oversized Chinese iphone if they restrict those too.

Yeah, I try out a lot of phones & this is my 2nd consecutive one w/o Google natively installed, the other being the Xiaomi Black Shark.
However, I had no issues installing apps from any source with that one.
This will be the last such phone for a while, I've had my fill with the nonsense already.
Great hardware,BUT the software & U/I is atrocious, reminiscent of COLOR O/S from back in the OPPO FIND 7 days.....
Perhaps things will be better once I get a Chinese SIM & unlock some of these permissions, but, until then, I recommend anyone considering this phone to hang on to your money until more is known in regards to working around the 3rd party app restrictions.
EDIT:
Getting a VIVO Account set up w/a Chinese phone number,or,a public Vivo Account (contact VIVO Support) will allow for default launcher to be changed & more ease of apps to be installed outside of the Vivo store:

Jesus what a mess
My mistake!! I wasn't paying enough attention obviously and I succeeded in installing a 3rd party launcher (Nova)!
So here's the order of things that in the end worked for me:
1. Set up Vivo account (no way around that I'm afraid)
2. Settings - More Settings - Applications - Set default apps - Home Screen and then set the launcher of choice and confirm
Then the settings I failed to locate before
3. Go back to Settings - More Settings and select Security and under menu item Device Management select in both 'Device manager' aswell as 'Replace the System Launcher' the launcher of your choice and confirm.
4. Once that is set and confirmed you are back in the Settings - More Settings menu and from there on out I longpressed the On-Off button and rebooted.
Voilà ! All good to go and ready to make full use of this awesome phone!

Found a work-around to get apps from the Amazon App Store to install:
1) Download the Amazon App Store App with Chrome.
2) Set up/sign in to the Amazon App Store.
3) From another device, also log in to the Amazon App Store, download the apps you want to use on the NEX.
4) On the 2nd device, use an APK Extractor app & upload to Google Drive, then, open the Google Drive app on the NEX, d/l from Google Drive
PROFIT!
EDIT:
Side-loading Google Dialer crashes the Funtouch O/S Launcher, stuck on the lockscreen, until you swipe-up to access settings & uninstall Google Dialer.
EDIT #2 :
@paatha13 @ibreukers
Once you are able to change the default launcher to anything but the stock FunTouch Launcher, the (system) launcher crashing is moot,3rd party launchers are unaffected by installing the Google Dialer.
However, there is no setting (AFAICT) to change the default dialer app,so,at least for now, incoming calls will go to the stock dialer, but, outgoing calls, the Google Dialer works just fine.

Something like this

Did you provide them your full name, address and telephone number.
Since activating requires chinece number how did you do the activation.

Regarding setting up a VIVO Account,did you use a pre-paid SIM & if so,was it voice & data/voice only/data only?
If you did use a pre-paid SIM,could you list which one you bought & where you purchased it from?
I don't mind too much having to take this step & getting a SIM/China phone number, odd as it may be,the price of admission venturing into uncharted waters,I suppose.............
One other thing I'm curious about (just thinking out loud):
I wonder if this registering a VIVO account sticks after a factory reset/bootloader unlock, akin to a SIM Unlock?
Guys it's true Vivo do help you with a public account! I just got one. So it seems that if you contact them and don't screw it up by changing the password you will be able to use this phone at it's full potential.
So the issue actually got fixed by it's self.
IntroductionGAppsMod (ex GoogleDialerMod) is an Android application able to unlock hidden features (e.g., available only in some countries or on certain devices) in Google applications (such as Phone Messages by Google). Root is required.
The patches are applied to the "Phenotype DB", a hidden Google Play Services database that tracks which features are available or not for all Google applications installed on Android devices. This approach should allow mods to survive application updates and keep the original Google applications unpatched.
Features
Supports all arm / arm64 / x86 / x86_64 devices and all Android versions from 5.0 (Lollipop)
Enable / disable hidden features for all users at once when Android "multiple users" mode is in use
Allows users to list and change all Phenotype DB boolean flags for all installed Google applications
A convenient home screen brings together the suggested mods for the most used Google applications
Currently suggested mods
For the Phone application (link):
Force enable call recording feature, even on unsupported devices or in unsupported countries (ref)
Enable also automatic call recording ("always record") feature based on caller (otherwise only available in India)
Silence the annoying "registration has started / ended" call recording announcements (only on Phone version <= 94.x)
Force enable call screening and "revelio" (advanced automatic call screening) features, even on unsupported devices or in unsupported countries (ref)
Allows users to choose the language for call screening
For the Messages application (link):
Force enable debug menu (it can also be enabled without mods by entering *xyzzy* in the application's search field)
Force enable message organization ("supersort")
Force enable marking conversations as unread
Force enable verified SMS settings menu (ref)
Force enable always sending images by Google Photos links in SMS (ref)
Force enable nudges and birthday reminders (ref)
Force enable Bard AI draft suggestions ("magic compose") (ref)
Force enable smart features: spotlights suggestions (ref), stickers suggestions, smart compose (ref), smart actions (smart reply) in notifications
And much more coming soon
Troubleshooting:
After enabling / disabling any mod, please force close and reopen a few times the Google application you are trying to tweak. You may also need to reboot for the changes to take effect.
Before to report an issue try to delete Google apps data, to reboot your phone and to try again what didn't work

Option exist but it says it's not available in your country.
UPDATE : after a few modifications the call recording option also disappeared .
Thanks for the app !
It works on my new Xiaomi Mi 11 running Android 11. But it seems the recording announcement insists on playing when starting/stopping recording, even with the 'slience call recording alerts' switched on. Not sure if the other party will hear the announcements though, will need more testing.
But it is great otherwise ! Cheers

Hi, thanks for reporting your issue.
Are you using the latest version of GoogleDialerMod v1.02?
Could you please tell me which files do you have in /data/data/com.google.android.dialer/files/callrecordingprompt after enabling the "Silence sound alerts" switch?

Option exist but it says it's not available in your country.
UPDATE : after a few modifications the call recording option also disappeared .

Could you please try the following procedure?
Clear Google Dialer app data
Enable all switches on the "Suggested Mods" tab on GoogleDialerMod
Open Google Dialer
Force close Google Dialer via Android settings
Reopen Google Dialer and see if call recording is working for you
Thanks

Yes, using the latest version.
4 files:
ending_voice-en_US.wav ending_voice-zh_HK.wav starting_voice-en_US.wav starting_voice-zh_HK.wav
And it is apparently using the zh_HK.wav files for the alerts, assuming these .wav files are the Chinese language announcements. (My locale is Hong Kong, maybe that's why)

Uhm in theory GoogleDialerMod should force Google Dialer to use the US file, which it replaces with an empty file.
I'll try to troubleshoot this and I'll let you know.
Have you already tried to disable and re-enable the switch and force closing (via Android settings) and reopening the dialer a couple of times?

After trying your suggestions it worked ! Don't know what did it, could the the repeated toggling, could be the force closing, or it may have been just a reboot that did it. So glad to have a fully working phone recorder. Cheers and thanks again !
No luck friend, still have no recording option.
