Hello everyone! Sorry for the dumb question, but I was wondering if it is possible to add a wireless charging receiver inside a OnePlus 6. There are some receivers on Amazon for Galaxy S3, S4 and S5, and I thought that it would have been cool to have one, just to play with the hardware.
I'm not talking about the receivers which have the cable with the Type C USB port, but the receivers that connect directly to the battery. Something we can build ourselves.
Could it be possible? What do you think?
I'd nearly say hold on for the 6t and save yourself the hassle. ?

Unluckly I have already bought the 6, and this is my first OP phone and i think it is just awesome.
Anyway I only wanted to do something cool and play with the hardware of my phone.
Yes, I use one. Works just fine. The only annoying part is having to unplug it when I need to connect to my PC. I wish they made one that plugs into the usb-c port but still allowed a USB-c to plug into the receiver. It would probably make the receiver plug too big.
Here is the one I use:

If you're talking about some kind of hardware hack, I can't imagine that there's room inside the case given how thin this phone is. Years ago, I tried doing something like that with my HTC One XL, which had a flexible plastic case and more room inside. I still couldn't make it work.
Wireless charging is awesome but i only like it because my phone has a micro usb.... now that i have ordered a oneplus with usb c i dont think i will miss it because wireless charging is slower and heats up the phone more.
You have two options, buy external wireless charging receiver that plugs into USB or do a hardware hack and put wireless receiver inside the phone. It's certainly possible as back cover is glass, but it's not trivial.

Hi there,
I've had a few phones and a few Brodit Car Holders. Not sure why I've stuck with them, but never had a bad experience with them, so why not. The best holder I had was for my iPhone, it had a Pass Through connector so I could plug any device in the bottom and play it through my Parrot Car Kit as it synced with the iTunes on the phone.
As the car kit has a USB device support on it, I'm wanting to get a Car Holder that has a pass through connector at the bottom so when the phone slides into the holder, it always plugs into a Micro USB part, but then I can plug any USB cable into the bottom of it.
Anyone had one of these or knows where I can get one from for the Desire?
Nobody had anything like this? Nobody looking for anything like this? Surely there are some people out there that have...
I couldn't find one either, ended up going for the active brodit. If your wanting the usb for music can you not make do with bluetooth streaming?

Yeah, its an option, but the usb part was good as it allowed me to flick through my albums and everything, like it was just playing an iPod.
Might get the passive holder and adapt it myself.
Or I guess if you get the active holder you can just cut off the charger plug and wire up a USB plug instead... so long as all the wires are there.

I think it only has two wires there though, for power. I used to love it when they made pass through kits with the old Nokia holders.
nevermind, found this one which will do for me, it looks similar to the Nexus One version, but obviously without the dock pins at the bottom...

On my quest to make an adapter to use my Atrix Lapdock with my S4 I already destroyed an mhl adapter, and now I want to try this dock from ebay.
Has anyone had any experience with it?
Let me know, looks nice.

Be careful. I bought one of these on Amazon a while back...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C4CVT7A/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
...and I realize it might not be the same exact thing, but it looks similar in construction.
About 2 weeks after I started using it, it started shorting out and sparking! I was lucky that I was right beside it when it started happening and got my phone out of it before any damage was done. The problem was with the wiring / circuitry in the base of the unit. I threw it away immediately.
So, hopefully your will work a lot better, just be careful.

Thanks for the info. I usually buy stuff from DX, so I'm quite used to opening and doing a good quality check for every item I buy before using it!
I got the item, it works good and the build quality is good.
BUT, when you connect an external power supply, the power to the usb host port gets disconnected and the usb lines get shorted. So you can use either the USB OR the HDMI. There are 3 relays inside the device; by disabling the top one you can do the 500ms short trick and get the HDMI + USB HOST + CHARGING features, but it takes some effort.

Are you able to use or make a charge only cable (only 5V and ground)? That way the USB data lines should not be affected if the charger shorts the data pins.
Or is the one of the relays shorting the data pins inside the adapter?
Sorry, maybe I didn't explain correctly. The adapter shorts the phone's usb data pins, everything else is untouched. A delay circuit is implemented too, so it looks like they tried to do the 500ms trick but failed miserably so they sold the dock as is.
has anyone got any further with this project? I have an original Samsung smart dock and have now got the hdmi converters but nothing is shown on the lapdock screen. The adaptors and lapdock work fine as I have had it connected to my sky hd box?
Hi, did you try the adapters with a TV? My adapters work well and send a (distorted) image to the lapdock..
Yes I tried them both ways as an output to a tv and also an input to a moniter
looks pretty interesting. huh
Hi,
I've got quite weird problem. Most micro-usb cables doesn't fit nicely with my phone. I've to push it and it feels like I could break something. Is there company that makes good quality cables like Samsung's original ones?
Pretty easy to get oem cables on ebay.
Ok, but is there any particular company, except oem, that you would recommend?
OEM Micro USB Cable
I have searched everywhere, there is no OEM Micro USB Cable available for Galaxy S4.
On ebay , when you select OEM warranty , no results shows up for Micro USB cable.
Can anyone help me find a replacement, the charger is working fine but I'm unable to find the best cable?
Please advice.
Thanks,
Sid
I've bought an Aukey cable and it works really fine.
Try blueridge. They make some of the best cables. I have one and it even supports fast charging ( qualcomm quick charge )

double yes on the blueridge, been using them a while now and no issues
So Blueridge, Thanks.
try look for Remax micro usb cable which is very durable and good quality. But beware of counterfeit one as there's a lot in the market right now.
I've just got myself an LG cable from ... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331618247629 ... The OEM Samsung cable was over 2 years old and was the reason my phone was charging slowly (car charger was fine and swapped an HTC cable onto the Samsung charger and that was fine so definitely the cable ...) - at 300/400mA. With this cable it will charge at the full 1900mA, it seems to fit better (more securely) into the USB port on the phone and it's also slightly longer which is, for me, an advantage.
HTH.

What phone do you use? I threw my stock usb cable (S4) away after it started "connecting/disconnecting" on its own when connected to my PC!
I'm now using my old Blackberry 9380 USB cable which is short and thick AND has NEVER done the same as experienced with stock Samsung cable. I charge with it and flash new ROMS, no problem! :good:
This one time my old stock usb cable disconnected WHILE I'm flashing my S4 with new rom - almost bricked it!
thank you

Hello,.
I can only recommend you one cable, the Anker nylon braided micro usb one, it is the best usb cable I've ever owned.
You do even get a 18 month warranty, you won't be disappointed.
http://www.ianker.com/product/A7116041
As for your problem, it happened too with my new cables. It's pretty normal I think, it's usually over after 2-4 weeks.
I also used a lot of different cables (from my mice, music players, other phones) and those worked w/o any problems as well. Fit like a glove that fits nicely.
Mine is from iOrange-E. It is 6.6ft long and reversible also. Works fine for me.
I love my 6 foot Monoprice cable... Amazing and only 3 bucks with the gold plating(for looks, of course).
These that came with this extra charger are the best I've tried so far.

Hello everyone, I've been looking for 2 days now on Parts for the Blu Pure XL (Gionee Elife E8) and I've came up with nothing...
I have a damaged USB Port and I know this cause I've tried every charger in my home and I've cracked it open to take a look and the prongs that connect it to the board are bent. If anyone could give me a source that sells Blu Pure XL parts that would be incredibly helpful!

Just my thought, but aren't microUSB ports just... microUSB ports? It's not like the ports on different devices differs physically from others. You can use any microUSB cable on any phone with a microUSB port, can't you?
As for replacement parts, I'm not an expert on electronics (perhaps you're more knowledgeable than me), but can't you just swap in any new female microUSB port (or maybe even a USB Type C port, if you have the knowledge and if it fits)?
I'm not sure how the microUSB port is hooked up since I don't have the guts to open up my own Pure XL, but can't you unsolder/cut off your old port and solder in a new one (provided you have the knowledge)?

MicroUSB ports are not just... MicroUSB ports, there are different types of pin variations (But all are 4 pins) to fit certain types of boards.
I never thought of actually replacing the USB Port. It might actually work, but I'm a little hesitant since I paid $350 for my phone.
Thank you for the reply back and I will try this. By the way, USB Type-C has 24 pins and a MicroUSB has 4; it's possible to use the USB-C, but Id only be able to charge my phone and it would take QC capability away from my phone. If anyone could direct me to the actual PCB Board with the USB and the Speakers for the Blu Pure XL that would be awesome! (Until then I guess this solution will have to do.)
Crude Solution, but works.
So what I did what get into my phone and remove the Non-Removable Battery, spliced an old microUSB cable and connected the Red & Black wires to the P+ & P- of the Lithium Ion Battery. Seems to charge the phone fast, bust remember to keep an eye on it and to not let it overheat... Here is a picture of the outcome: http://imgur.com/98Zolef

Having the same problem but for mine it seems like the metal connector on the outside protrudes whenever I plug a cable into the port... pretty loose by the looks of it.
Methinks I might see if BLU can fix it though.

They weren't able to fix it so they sent me a new Energy XL instead. Slightly inferior specs but battery is outstanding.
Also ported CM 12.1 rather easily to it. But yeah, you're either going to have to fix it yourself or get a replacement Energy XL (they might allow you to get a Pure XR as well, not sure.)
Not to dredge up a old thread; But I still need a charge board for my pure xl; I posted something months ago; and shelved the phone until recently; and I would love to find a source of parts for this.

Hate to bring up an old post but can anyone direct me to a "how to" on installing a new usb pcb? I've disassembled my phone and it seems the only solder point is the lower left hand portion.. I don't see any way of disconnecting otherwise. Ought I un-solder whatever it may be? or is there another method. Sorry btw.

then maybe you should hand this repair off to someone more experienced...

All the replacement USB pcba boards seem to be out of stock. I tried to purchase a USB port to replace the USB with but it's really difficult. Anyone know of a place I could buy the USB pcba board that has them in stock?

Thought I would share my experience so no one else repeats this. I bought a micro usb ethernet device so I can hardwire my nexus player. Connected it to nexus player and it did not work. The ethernet device had an extra power cable for it. Thinking it may need more power, I foolishly connected power cable. Now nexus player doesn't even turn on (powerlight off). I'm afraid I may have shorted the motherboard. I was able to open up nexus player using guitar pick....but don't even know what to do. Spent alot of time tinkering with it too. So sad as I am now left with an oversized hockey puck Lesson learned.
Look for black marks or brown you can also take a multimeter and check components you would want to check any smd fuses first then trace back from the USB plug. I don't imagine that killing the whole thing. Does it respond at all?

Did not see any black or brown marks. Unfortunately it does not turn on at all. I'm getting desperate and am thinking of buying a new 12v 1.5 amp adapter. Do you think that may work? Thanks for your input.

I don't think so if hypothetically the Ethernet adaptor delivered voltage to the usb port on the nexus player and now with just hdmi and power plugged in it wont turn on i doubt a new ac adapter will fix anything.
You can check your current adaptor if it is broken by using a multi-meter to see if it is providing 12v.
Can you link the Ethernet adaptor you tried to use? And what ac adaptor you plugged into it.
I can think of a few things that are not what you think they are that have ac adapter sockets. But i cant think of a single Ethernet to usb adapter that takes 12v all the ones i know would be a 5v adapter at most with more running off usb power...
I would look for a replacement nexus player not just the ac adaptor... Check target or walmart first they dropped them down to 20-40 when they got discontinued i wish i had picked up a second one now... i got 2 of the game controllers one for 29 one for 10...

Yeah it is not the ac adapter. I tried an equivalent 12v 1.5amp and it still didn't turn on. When plugged in if I put my ear next to nexus player....I do hear a faint hissing sound, so there is some activity going on. I went out and bought a multi-meter and did what you suggested to check components tracing back to usb. This is all new stuff to me but I found that there was 0 reading on a tiny black rectangular module that has P15 on it. I'm assuming that is the smd fuse. Not even sure where to buy a replacement one. Tried to procure one from old computer board but was unsuccessful. Will search some more online on where to buy one and learn how to solder.
The ethernet I bought was http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-Micro...851881?hash=item567e4840e9:g:QEkAAOSwvt1WRYAO I wasn't thinking and plugged a 12v 1amp into it.
Only nexus player I see being sold is on ebay. I'm being persistent on reviving this one only because I spent alot of time on it already and am stubborn....lol But I will give up when I replace the P15 module and it still doesn't work. If nothing else at least I'm learning...so thank you.
Yes the little thing labled p15 is a fuse im about 80% i think p5 is also a fuse... you should get 0 resistance on them and they should be able to pass current switch the meter to Continuity mode and if the 2 probes are connected it should make a noise put them on either side of the fuses if they dont pass current they are likely blown as for replacements dangerous method would be to replace them with a wire otherwise they should be around .50 cents each from what i could find they are self resetting type so they should reset once any residual voltage is gone.
