Hello and good day, recently I bought a secondhand google pixel 5''. I found out that the volume during calls is very low and distorted. So, I try to increase the volume during calls using volume buttons but still very low and quiet. I had no issues with microphone like others though. I was on 8.1 June security patch (stock). Please advise and help me. Thanks

I bought nexus 5 a month ago. from then i don't know weather this is the problem or the volume of speaker is built low. i am getting very low ringing volume . while on cal its loudspeaker volume is very good and while on head set volume is also very good. only problem is while ringing a cal or while playing music via loud speaker the volume is below average. i went to service center they just took one more nexus 5 which they had(that one was other customers phone which has a software bug) and compare it with that phones speaker that phone is also giving same volume. but i have read reviews that its speaker has very good sound. and it has around 65db sound. my friend has iphone 5 it has 68db which sounds very good(while ringing). but mine with less just 3db difference is not even half i think. i saw in internet lg released an hardware upgrade so that speakers can be changed is that correct? how can i fix this?
This is a well known issue.
You can flash this zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532788
There are a few other methods as well. You can also look at viper4android or faux sound deal.
I use the sound file called sedna..with no fixes I can hear it clear across the house even without full volume.

It already exists as a selectable ring tone under Sound settings.

You`l have to root to increase loudness, read the first 4 threads in the General section first first first first and don`t use toolkits
It isn't a defect, all of them are pretty quiet. I just flashed franco kernel and used his app to boost the speaker volume. It's almost too loud now...the lowest setting was the highest one before.

hi i rooted my phone yesterday it went fine. then i installed viper4android . i didn't find any reasonable or even a bit increase in volume while ringing? did i went somewhere wrong or is there any other mod or solution for it?
Hello, it seems im experiencing the exact same issue as here: http://en.miui.com/thread-81318-1-1.html
I tried latest MIUI / CM12.1, can anyone else confirm it? Is this a software issue? Any fixes possible? It's extremely annoying..
The problem with sound when it's played with headphones on LOW VOLUME. (especially with in-ear plugs with good noise cancelling like Xiaomi Piston, it's less noticable on other types of headphones)
It is VERY noticable in quiet music or when listening to speech without background music like podcasts or audiobooks, or when the music fades out. I would describe it as hissing noise with a lot of distortion. (just listen to some audiobook to test)
With loud music it's less noticable because music overlaps the distortion.
The problem is the same with the speaker but it's much less noticable. (you have to put speaker close to ear to hear it)
Can anyone test it on your phone? :good:
Can anyone check it on their phone please? Maybe it's just mine and i will need to replace it..

I can confirm it, there's a little bzzz but i can barely notice that, so it's not a big problem for me because i always use vibration mode and also i usually don't listen music with the phone...
Guys you can confirm the issue here to bring this to the devs attention: http://en.miui.com/thread-201506-1-1.html

Has this been solved? My gf's Mi4C still has this issue, latest Xiaomi.eu weekly 6.11
Since I've upgraded, my speaker and call volume are very low. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yes. Me. Is there anything we can do to fix that?
This is a problem for me too. I've tried a few volume booster apps, but nothing works. I use bluetooth a lot and really hoping there's a solution to increase volume because sometimes it's really quiet.
problem after nougat update
I have motorola motog4 plus and facing tha same problem after nougat update . It is barely audible without earphone .
this is really annoying ! is there a solution? can we change the mixer_path to increase the volume of the earpiece ?
Hi,
My dad has a Moto G3 2GB RAM variant, the phone is out of warranty but working perfectly fine except that the call volume is too low.
Now, it's not a new problem, my dad said it was low from the starting but he managed, now it's unbearable.
I want to fix it permanently, can I root and install ROMS? Does that fix it? I don't know. Please guide me, someone
update: I just want to point out that the speaker volume while playing songs is good, just not good during calls. This is definitely a software bug and I'm surprised no-one has addressed or found a solution to it. Even Moto G5 plus faces the same issue.
You can try this - https://forum.xda-developers.com/20...-native-volume-boost-apps-mixerpaths-t3217132

This mod messes with all volume levels. It can damage the speaker.

Clear the upper speaker..the speaker adjacent to front camera
I got my phone on Friday and upgraded it to Andriod 10 this morning, so I didn't have a chance to test if this was also an issue for Android 9. However, when I tried to make a call this afternoon, the other side can no longer hear me, while I can hear the other side just fine.
I tried switching some settings while calling and switching Speaker to be on is enough to get microphone back, then I can switch speaker back to off and use it normally. Rebooting the phone will cause the issue to reappear.
Trying to see if any of you are having the same issue.
I have the exact same issue. The mic works after I toggle the speaker, but another issue happens in subsequent calls... sound no longer comes out of the earpiece, only through the bottom speaker. It's such a bizarre bug.
My microphone works but my headphones don't work (no sound) when plugged into 3.5mm jack. Needed to talk via speakerphone or earpiece.
Seems they didn't fully test their calling on this first patch?
Music via 3.5mm works.
WW_17.1810.1910.68 seems to have fixed my issues.

Toggling the speakerphone seems to fix the audio coming out of the bottom speaker. A fix for the fix?
Is there any fix for this issue? I am facing the same problem, the phone speaker and microphone will not work during the call and playing music, but works fine if I toggle to speaker mode. Music is a problem, but works fine with headphone. Very strange.
I am running into same issue on Android 10 with latest updates. Toggling the speakerphone one and off fixes the problem for a while and the it comes back on. Third party VOIPs make calls with no issues.
Looking at Asus official forums - you can see the problem reported on a variety of models and I don't see a resolution anywhere. I got a bad feeling about this...

Interesting - I'm on Mint Mobile which operates on the T-Mobile network. So maybe this affects me and their solution will address my issue. Thank you.
Having the same microphone problems on T-Mobile as well
