[SOLVED]: connect the USB cable to the computer first, without connecting to the phone, enter download mode and only then connect the cable to the phone. works without the original cable
I found the solution here:

[Q] bricked samsung galaxy 5830m not detected by pc

I flashed my phone with cm10 I think? every thing went fine with that it was successful, however when the phone rebooted it stops at the samsung logo. The unit will not go into recovery mode. When I put it into download mode the screen shows odin d/l mode and the model is 5830i but my model is 5830m. also the computer does not even detect my device. where do I go from here?
Download a ROM for the 5830m with an Odin install. Go into download and install the ROM with Odin.

[Q] Flashing via Odin problems

Trying to flash via Odin on my Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 YP-G1, only problem is the device isn't recognized by Odin in download mode, only when the device is booted and on home screen does Odin com port pick up the device. I've tried everything except starting Odin on the home screen. USB Debugging is enabled, device is rooted,re-installed device drivers, tried multiple USB ports on my computer, etc... Nothing I've tried will allow Odin to see my device in download mode. I'm out of ideas, anyone have a suggestion?
Try a different version of Odin?
Sent from somewhere....if I could only remember where....
Each USB port on your computer will show as a different COM port. Go into Device Manager when the phone is connected and see which COM port the phone is on. Set Odin to use that port.

[Q] Samsung Drivers aren't properly detected / Download Mode Problems.

Hello people, I have a particulartly weird problem. I have Samsung S7562, Or S Duos. I had Stock Rom 4.0.4, and decided to flash CosmicRom 3 on it, so of course, I'm rooted and I have Clockwork Mod 5 (Custom version). Also, I have USB Debugging On. One day I decided to go back to stock using Odin, and I got stuck. Here's what I tried:
-Connect the Phone to the PC with 3 cables, using 2 different ports
-Pull out the battery in Download Mode, Boot Windows 7 64 Bit with Phone plugged in
-Turning off USB Debugging
-Installing Kies oddly doesn't work, and also I can't uninstall Samsung Drivers, which is also weird (It crashes).
-I restarted my PC and did all these on my second PC, but no success.
I think that the problem is the driver. When my phone is in Download Mode, it gets recognized as a Samsung Modem, with a modem picture, and it gives me Error Code 10, even though I have proper CDC Drivers installed with which I connect it to Odin. What's the problem here?

FIXED: ODIN stuck at Get PIT for mapping for TWRP installation

Phone model: SM-G920W8
ODIN version: 3.14
TWRP version: 3.3.1-0
Samsung drivers: 1.5.65.0
Operating system: Windows 10 Pro 64 bits
I tried different cables, different USB ports. With the previous TWRP, I had access to my files so the cables work fine and the ports wrok fine. I just wanted to update TWRP. I tried to restart Windows, and restart Phone in download mode and redo the process. I even tried to find a PIT file and put it in ODIN, still same issue, stuck at "Get PIT for mapping.."
Can anyone help me find a solution?
SOLUTION - FIXED: After many trials and erros, I used a shorter cable supporting data and plugged it directly in my USB port. I was using a network cable USB extension and it seems that ODIN hates anything between your phone and the computer.
