mobile data stopped working after OxygenOS 5.1.6 update - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I just had the OxygenOS 5.1.6 update on my Oneplus 6. and after reboot, I have lost the mobile data connectivity.
tried resetting network setting, but no use.
Also tried Hard reset (with the phone off) but of no use
Turn your phone off by pressing down the power key for five seconds.
Press and hold the volume key and power button simultaneously until the device vibrates and opens the Recovery menu.
Choose your preferred language.
Using the volume keys to navigate, go to Wipe > data cache > Confirm.
Reboot the device after this is done.
Can anyone help to resolve the issue or how to degrade to the previous version.
Is the factory reset the only option, please help.
Thanks
JJohn

i can say that it has become kinda dodgy after the update.

[Q] Nexus 5 stuck on boot animation after a wipe all data/factory reset....

Hello,
I had an issue of my Nexus 5 restarting whenever I tried to unlock the screen. Since, I have searched several websites and found that I need to do a factory reset to fix the issue. And, I followed the below steps:
1.If your phone is on, power it off.
2.Press & hold Volume Down and Volume Up, and then press & hold Power simultaneously until the device turns on. You will see the word Start with an arrow drawn around it.
3.Press Volume Down twice to designate Recovery mode.
4.Press Power to restart into Recovery mode. You will see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
5.While holding down Power, press Volume Up.
6.Use the volume keys to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press Power to select it.
7.Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data" and press Power to select it.
When everything is completed. I tried restarting the phone by clicking the power button, and what I see is the Boot Animation . Waited for an hour, two , three and five. Still i see the same. Please help me. I tried to search for similar posts with no luck.
Thanks in advance.

Stock recovery wipes everything AFAIK so your user data and the OS are gone... You have to flash the stock build (factory images) or take the opportunity to flash a new recovery and a custom rom.
EDIT: maybe not I actually never used it.

It doesn't touch /system or /boot. Only /data, but not excluding /data/media like custom recovery would

Boost LG Stylo Soft Brick? Please help.

I have a boost mobile LG Stylo that I rooted last November using 6th_Hokage's custom room method provided here http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-stylo/development/boost-stylo-5-1-1-zv5-custom-rom-v1-t3216307 on this forum. I used the rooted-zv5-system.img file. All has been well for 7 moths until last night when I was using Google Chrome and the app hung (which happens occasionally, not frequently). Had to pull and reinstert battery and upon booting, I am getting in this weird loop of Setup/Activation Wizard - Wifi Connect - and TalkBack Activation that I cannot get out of. HOME and RECENT SCREENS buttons are disabled, BACK button is enabled. I am assuming some corruption took place.
Can anyone point me in the direction of steps to take on resolving this? I am good either going back to factory or root, I just need my phone working. I have reviewed this forum, and am confused on best option on how to proceed, or do I have a permanent brick.
Thanks so much in advance for the assistance!
I'd reset it from recovery mode. I reset my phone whenever it acts wonky. When you do reset it in recovery do it like 3 times like you are clearing it out to put in a rom. If all else fails you can at least flash the rooted rom or original rom again, Good Luck! At least you have root, I'm on 6.0 and no root sux big time!

Thanks so much. Cool, I hope it is an easy fix. Because I am pretty much a noob with this stuff, I have never "cleared it out" to put in a rom. I might have done it, but do not recall. I will have to review my process steps again to make sure. Any chance you can provide some step by step instruction that I can follow with regard to resetting and clearing out from recovery mode?.
Here are the steps I found online, does this look correct to you...a hard factory reset? Is this ok even with rooted phone?
Hard reset LG G Stylo
Turn off the device
Press and hold Volume Down key + Power Key about 6-7 seconds
Release Power key when LG logo appear
When still pressing Volume Down key, press Power key one more
Release Volume down key when Factory Data Reset menu appears
Use Volume key to select “Yes”
Pres Power key to confirm.
I do still have the rooted rom I originally used and instructions from 6th_Hockage...are you saying that if I just flash that again following the steps I used to originally root the phone that this will work even though the phone is already rooted?
Thanks!
Turn off the device
Press and hold Volume Down key + Power Key about 6-7 seconds
Release Power key when LG logo appear AND it says "Recovery Mode"
You'll get a recovery menu and you use the volume up and down keys to highlight the "factory reset" after highlighting "factory reset" press the power key to activate selection. Do that three times and you will have a clean slate of your rooted rom.
You don't have to re-flash the reset will be the rooted rom
Did it work???

Galaxy tab A 2016 (SM-T585) backlight not working after security update

I just downloaded and installed newest security update (2018-06-**) for my device. After restart screen just went black. When i plug in to charge it, it vibrates, so it is working. Tried force restarting with Power + VolDown, it restarts, but you can only barely make out even the samsung logo when restarting because the backlight does not light up. I tried going into system recovery mode but i just can't see anything... What should i do now?

Find screenshots of stock recovery from devices just like yours, then use that screenshot as a guide when you boot into recovery, look at the screenshot and look at the list of options in stock recovery. You're looking for the "wipe cache partition" option. Starting from the top of the list, count down the list until you get to the factory reset option. Now boot to stock recovery, then press the volume down button the same number of times as what you counted from the screenshot. For example, in the screenshot, if "wipe cache partition" is the third option on the list, just press the volume down button three times, this should put you on the wipe cache partition option, then press power, it should do the wipe. Then try rebooting.
If that doesn't help, use the screenshot again as a guide to use the "factory reset" option" by counting down the list then pressing volume down that many times then press power to do the reset then reboot.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to flash your stock firmware via PC.

Question Problem following Z flip 3 update Scheme not recognized

Good morning,
My Z flip 3 5G updated itself and since then it does not recognize the unlock pattern.
I am blocked and I want to recover my data.
In recovery mode I have at the bottom
cause of reboot recovery is boot checker reboot recovery with key
I wiped cash but nothing changed.
Help j'ai besoin des données
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble accessing your data on your Z Flip 3. It sounds like the update may have caused some issues with the device's software.
One thing you can try is to boot your device into Safe Mode. To do this, press and hold the power button until the Samsung logo appears. Then, immediately press and hold the Volume Down button until the phone finishes restarting. When you see the "Safe Mode" icon in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume Down button.
Once in Safe Mode, see if you're able to access your data. If you're still unable to access your phone, you may need to perform a factory reset. Keep in mind that this will erase all data on your phone, so make sure to back up any important data before proceeding.
To perform a factory reset, turn off your phone and then press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons until the Samsung logo appears. Release both buttons and you should see the Android recovery menu. Use the Volume Down button to scroll to "Wipe data/factory reset" and then press the Power button to select it. Confirm that you want to perform the reset and then wait for the process to complete.
If none of these options work, you may need to contact Samsung customer support for further assistance with recovering your data.
