I confirm that it worked!
XE model Global Stable_V9.5.19.0

i tried to install supersu over twrp. Copied supersu.zip on the internal storage but it looks broken in twrp and Windows. I cant see or find the zip:
Is there a other way to flash the zip or to get root?

I confirm that it worked!

Check your TWRP version. Flash the newest build. It sounds to me , your TWRP version doesn't has device encryption yet.

I confirm too that it works
XE model on Global Beta Miui 10 (8.7.5)
Unfortunately, I could'nt run suhide-lite with it, just went on bootloop
I'll stay on that while waiting for Magisk works on XE/Global Rom

Did someone try new Magisk beta 16.6 on XE devices with 8.7.5?
Inviato dal mio Mi MIX 2S utilizzando Tapatalk

My experience with Magisk under Miui 10Beta 8.7.5+8.7.12 was rather meh.
Indeed Best results with SuperSU 2.82 SR5.
Additionally with TB I had positive experience when disabling "Mount namespace partition".
After this I was able to deinstall several apps not possible before.

unable to get root even after successful sueprsu flash. this happened after i tried an update to 8.7.19...i am on 8.7.12 now....what to do now??

[Root] Magisk without TWRP

Hello everyone,
if u want to install Magisk without flashing unoffical TWRP here are the steps. U still need to have unlocked Bootloader:
Seems only Global Version works ... Have a try:
1. Download Systemupdate via OTA
2. Copy it to Computer (located InternalStorage/downloaded_rom)
3. Extract "boot.img"
4. Copy it back to your Mix 2s
5. Install Magisk Manager 5.7.0
6. Open Magisk Manager and click install & install
7. select patch Boot-Image
8. Open "boot.img" with Filemanager
9. After Magisk is finished copy "patched_boot.img" (located InternalStorage/MagiskManager) to PC
10. Boot into Fastboot
11. Flash with "fastboot.exe flash boot patched_boot.img" without ""
12. Reboot Mi Mix 2s and u're rooted now
This Boot-Image is for 9.5.19.0 Global:

So with thsi patched_boot image, it's just follow steps 10, 11 and 12

The model m1803d5xe version( known as 6GB ram black color version in China, have limited bands) probably has a limit on flashing root( magisk) in the Global rom. It will cause bootloop and currently have no solution. The m1803d5xa version( Global version) works well.

Oh yes yes, this maybe!!!! My model m1803d5xe
So if m1803d5xa works and m1803d5xe doesn't it's exactly the same problem as when flashing Magisk 16.4 with TWRP:
All devices with xe will bootloop. The only difference is, your variant without TWRP doesn't work on Chinese ROMs, only global. But flashing 16.4 on xa model and Chinese ROM works

You can install Magisk on m1803d5xe with Chinese ROM. It works fine, but gpay don't works.
So basically magisk only works if you are running native rom for your phone model? What about 256gb version?
I am very confused about which method can be used on which model and ROM. I try to read again through the different threads.
I tried to come up with a matrix that shows all working and non working ways. Can anyone help me to correct and complete this please?

Which version of TWRP bluespark?

I just currently got the latest ota and let it install and I installed magisk from the manager by choosing to install to inactive partition after ota. That worked flawlessly and was able to keep root. But I lost TWRP of course. I was using the official TWRP. I've been noticing everyone going to TWRP bluespark recovery. But which one do I download??? From what I understand there is a version for oos android 8 Oreo and a version for oos android 9 pie. I'm on official oos pie. So which one do I need?

You can use TWRP official or Blu Spark TWRP. What ever you like. Blu Spark is recommended for people coming from oos beta to stable

May I ask what the difference is?
Just to add a note to you for next ota.
After ota is installed go to magisk manager
Press download
Search for twrp a/b
Install (don't reboot)
Now go to main screen and press install
Choose to inactive slot (after ota)
This way you keep both twrp and root
Happy flashing

Magisk flashing isn´t working with latest TWRP (v3.1.1-1)

I was trying to root several roms for hours! with latest TWRP version, no matter wich method I used, the result was always a non-rooted device.
After too much hours, I decided to go back to TWRP 3.1.1-0, and it rooted my phone at once (MIUI v11 Android 10.0).
SO, dont try to root anything with latest TWRP because it simply doesnt work to root.
(apparently wasnt working due to Multirom, I have to do some tests)
I hope this help some guy wich is going crazy trying to root Android 10 (or older).
Magisk 20.0 with twrp 3.3.1-1 worked perfectly fine for me. I did it on xiaomi.eu miui11 - android 10.

No, the process ends without any error, but Magisk Mgr doesnt detects to be rooted.
Maybe was a multirom error (as primary rom) but have so do some tests .

Mi Mix 2S keep bootloop after installing ViPER4Android FX 2.7.1.0

Hello,
I have problem with installing ViPER4Android on my Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S (xiaomi.eu, android P, miui 11).
I've installed Magisk 20.3 and Magisk Manager 7.5.1.
Then I wanted to install this addon.
I was trying to do this with instructions on this forum, because I knew that there's problem with compatibility on android 10.
Everything was going properly to the moment of restarting phone after installation.
The phone got into bootloop.
I've tried to do this many times with little modifications of actions, but it hasn't ever worked.
If anyone had the same issue and have some solution for that, please help me. I can't leave without viper
The only help for the phone to start is removing viper's files in TWRP File Manager. Then phone starts normally.
Thanks a lot for every answer <3

Why can't you install magisk? What type of problem do you have?
I've made a clean flash of miui 11, because of changing the ROM, so I had to do that. What ROM do you have?
Now I have the other idea. In this week I will try to change the ROM to any other and try to install Viper again. Maybe it's the problem...
I'm using stable xiaomi.eu miui and have upgraded by OTA.
With more time I will format system and install magisk 20.3 using twrp, at the moment if I flash magisk the status is always "Magic not installed".
Sent from my MIX 2S using Tapatalk
I have maybe a solution
I'm using weekly realease of xiaomi.eu and i sucess to resolve the problem,i don't now if that work for you but for magisk, have you try to install the last version or do a clean flash ? and for viper there are a thread on xda who talk about this problem and how resolve it.

Have you tried installing viper magisk then launch viper app, you might have to manually give it storage access for it to launch so make sure it has storage access, grant it root access then install the drivers and reboot. It works for me
Edit: forgot to mention you need the magisk mod called audio modification library before you install viper drivers

Installing Magisk on stock global miui

Since kernel releases are yet to be published " a total duck move by xiaomi ?" I wanted to keep on using the stock ROM without changing anything but miui is too cringy for me to live with it, so I need to put the ol'rooting hat once again
My question is.. did any one actually root it using magisk and can still get ota , or you would need to uninstall magisk then update then get magisk again?
Also what happens to TWRP , can it coexist with miui ?
I had a previous xiaomi phone (mido) but tbh I never even thought of using the miui and switched to RR once I unlocked the bootloader ?
You can get ota with magisk but updating will rewrite boot and recovery so you'll need to re-root.

FYI, I'm still on stock EU v12.0.3.0 with mauronofrio TWRP and rooted with Magisk.
I got two OTAs already, the last with v12.0.4.0 -- and it even tried to apply one of them while I wasn't looking but it obviously failed, since there's no stock recovery.
