Not updating to latest OTA - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

Had the phone less than 1 month. Stock, not modified in any way. Says no update is available. Should I just be patient or take matters into my own hands?

You could try enrolling in the google play services beta program.
Google Play Services Public Beta Program
I did this a while back and have always gotten the OTA notices ever since.
HTHs!

Be patient. I have 2ea Pixel 2 and my girlfriend has another.
Between the 3ea phones, they all get the OTA notification randomly and it's never been at the same time.

What version are you on now?

OPM2.171019.029.B1
It's still on the May 5 update.

Well then, I would just give it a few more days. If you don't get it, just sideload the OTA and be done with it. It won't hurt anything.

Got the OTA today. Glad my phone is functioning how it should. I'll be more patient next time.

Glad you got it sorted... enjoy!

The Moto page they are citing has been up since the soak went out. It's not an indication that the final rollout is in progress.

I think android authority jumped the gun on this one. Usually in the past we have seen the real OTA come out about 10 days from the start of the soak test. And they usually give the soak 7 days to go though.
Especially since they have listed for the OTA is :
Version History
Current version is
55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US
Version
Date Released
Release Notes
55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US*
February 2, 2012
Will it matter if my A2 has no sim card in it?

No a soak, is just a way to get it in the hands of several users to make sure it does not explode peoples phones, or turn wifi off or turn the radio to hell or anything really odd like that. Usually a soak is very similar as it is in IT, to where you turn it on, and let it run for a few days to make sure nothing catches fire, or dies right off.
If nothing like that happens, then it will be released as an ota in about 10 or so days, bugs and all.... and then the bug fixes will come in a month or so after.... sort of like our 2.3.6 was a huge bug fix to our 2.3.5.

haha - thats a decent way of explaining...
From what the devs/mods on the moto forums said, it'll only be a few days before the OTA is released. Somewhere around 3 days from SOAK start.
Matt/Mark (whichever one is there) said that this is basically a test to make sure the update will install.
I'd say it will probably be official soon. All in all, we know ICS runs pretty decent on our phone, no major bugs, and can install on a clean system. What's left?

not for AT&T - i mean the instructions are going to be the same, but since its not available on AT&T, when you go to the homepage and select USA as country - the last update shown is not ICS, its GB...
EDIT: hankbizzo5 is also right - so those instructions are for international atrix 2 users (where ICS has already been rolled out) on stock 2.3.6. it will be similar for AT&T only when it hits here. so if you are modified, you need to fxz back - check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909319

I may be mistaken, but https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/90004 looks like it is referencing an AT&T upgrade, as the file is 67.21.125.MB865.ATT.en.US. I'm not an expert, but I assumed that the ATT part in the filename indicated that it was an AT&T update, but maybe all the updates are labeled that, I don't know.

Verizon OTA rolling out

Saw on AC that it was rolling out to T-Mo and Sprint users so I checked 2 hours ago and had nothing. I just checked again and it is available. From what I read it shouldn't break root. I'm updating now and will report back.

We probably won't see it for atleast another month the way Verizon is with their updates. Either way I will avoid it, I value root too much.
Update PDF to see changelog and what was updated/improved/ruined. However you want to look at it. Seems like very minor changes from which not many people will benefit.

Yeaaaaaaaa. So the update is failing on my device haha. I'll take it as a sign. I don't really care for it much anyway.
Sounds about right. They either wait too long, or shoot it off before its ready. hahaha
Anyone know why my update may be failing though? update failure code 402. I have my phone rooted/debloated. I don't think that should make the update fail though.
To resolve, try plugging the Phone up to a PC and install the Verizon Updater software that is on the Phone's flash drive..(it is one of the disks that auto pops up when you connect the phone).

haha nah. I have linux on my vbox. I have other workstations at work with windows 7 on 'em. I can't get it to open. I wonder if it is because we are blocking outbound ports with ACL's and maybe the software needs access to something to launch. I'll try off of a public Wifi as that's wide open. That's the only similarity between the windows7 and 8.1 machines.
EDIT: yup, it requires port 443 to be open (which it is) but it is also passing through our content gateway proxy. I believe it was flagging it as some malicious. Luckily, I know it's not malicious and I am the systems admin so I was able to bypass

It's not the April patch and we already had March's with Nougat. Hopefully some bug fixes and performance improvements. My battery has been a lot worse since Nougat

I didn't see an update from you about this, but I wanted to weigh in. I saw this thread and your issue. I installed the update myself and it seemed to stay on the Sprint LTE screen for way too long. I actually had time to stare at it, worry, then pull up this thread, reread your issue, read the reply about recovering, and reread the solution! Then the screen dimmed and after I stared it down some more, it loaded the system stating the update was successful. Not sure if this was your issue, but maybe? For those that may run into this, I guess be patient!

To fix the issue, I had to perform a clean Odin flash then update. I'm guessing the conflict was related to me previously being on the beta versions of Nougat.

I had same issue before this update. Phone was stuck on beta version and said I was on the latest version when checking OTA. Smartswitch is complete garbage. Not only do you have to mess around with old C++ redistributable just to get the latest Smartswitch to run, once you do get it running the auto-prompt to revert back to stock no longer worked and the manual recover feature also didn't work as it said I had an invalid serial number even know I didn't. Not only did it not work, apparently the serial it wants is on the box only so if you don't have the box your SOL. I had the box and it still didn't work. Total lousy tool and worthless.
I ended up having to flash the official build with ODIN doing a clean flash. Once I did that, everything was great. Issues went away (battery drain, lag, getting hot, etc) Now this latest update popped up like normal. Update didn't take long to install, all good.
So those that were on beta at some point, use ODIN to flash official build. I already have a GS8+ on order and moving to big red after 15+ years with Sprint. Sprint is taking away subsidy on top of I can't take the network anymore it's total crap. That is a story for another day.
Well if anyone cares, the update includes the checks against hiding GPS mock apps from system. No more hiding. No more Pokemon Spoofing, if you're into that.

I have the same issue. Updated late Sunday evening and never got past the LET screen. I left it on over night plugged in and still at the LTE screen in the morning. Went to Samsung Experience Center in Best Buy and they re-flashed and all was well with no data loss.
I was prompted for the update again this morning, ran it and again looking at the damn LTE screen as I type this. The Samsung folks are off until Thursday so trying to figure this out. The SmartSwitch app does not recognize the phone.
Will look at Odin and appreciate any tips you, or anyone, has.

I got my Pixel 3 (bought from Google) December update on December 2. Be aware it caused a bootloop for a lot of users - I had to wipe my phone to recover. I recommend removing all Magisk modules, if not removing Magisk entirely before updating. You should be able to reroot after the update.
See this thread for reports of the problem. https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3/how-to/guide-patching-boot-img-magisk-canary-t3964359

You will notice that comment came from a Galaxy owner. They expect 3 updates over the life of the phone and are running on at best a 6-month old security level at any point. It doesn't matter to everyone.

Depends on what security updates are included. Also, I'm running the Nova launcher and it would be really nice to have gesture navigation support. One reason I got a Pixel is to get to the front of the line after living with other brands of phones that took many months to get updates. So not a huge deal, but Google has spoiled us with updates every month typically within a day or two of the first Monday.
Third Monday, everybody still in update limbo? Perhaps Google just wants to give X-mas gifts this year, but I'd rather they don't hold the update.
No update love for me as of 12/16/2019 4PM EST. I'm tired of waiting and will likely just sideload the update some time this week.
