Probably just a security patch ?

Security

It's not the April patch and we already had March's with Nougat. Hopefully some bug fixes and performance improvements. My battery has been a lot worse since Nougat

I notice a slight performance increase. Battery life definitely improved.

After the update, my phone won't boot past the Sprint LTE screen. Any one else with issues?

I didn't see an update from you about this, but I wanted to weigh in. I saw this thread and your issue. I installed the update myself and it seemed to stay on the Sprint LTE screen for way too long. I actually had time to stare at it, worry, then pull up this thread, reread your issue, read the reply about recovering, and reread the solution! Then the screen dimmed and after I stared it down some more, it loaded the system stating the update was successful. Not sure if this was your issue, but maybe? For those that may run into this, I guess be patient!

To fix the issue, I had to perform a clean Odin flash then update. I'm guessing the conflict was related to me previously being on the beta versions of Nougat.

Samsung's security updates are a month behind, it was basically the march security update now that it's just about April.

I had same issue before this update. Phone was stuck on beta version and said I was on the latest version when checking OTA. Smartswitch is complete garbage. Not only do you have to mess around with old C++ redistributable just to get the latest Smartswitch to run, once you do get it running the auto-prompt to revert back to stock no longer worked and the manual recover feature also didn't work as it said I had an invalid serial number even know I didn't. Not only did it not work, apparently the serial it wants is on the box only so if you don't have the box your SOL. I had the box and it still didn't work. Total lousy tool and worthless.
I ended up having to flash the official build with ODIN doing a clean flash. Once I did that, everything was great. Issues went away (battery drain, lag, getting hot, etc) Now this latest update popped up like normal. Update didn't take long to install, all good.
So those that were on beta at some point, use ODIN to flash official build. I already have a GS8+ on order and moving to big red after 15+ years with Sprint. Sprint is taking away subsidy on top of I can't take the network anymore it's total crap. That is a story for another day.

Well if anyone cares, the update includes the checks against hiding GPS mock apps from system. No more hiding. No more Pokemon Spoofing, if you're into that.

I have the same issue. Updated late Sunday evening and never got past the LET screen. I left it on over night plugged in and still at the LTE screen in the morning. Went to Samsung Experience Center in Best Buy and they re-flashed and all was well with no data loss.
I was prompted for the update again this morning, ran it and again looking at the damn LTE screen as I type this. The Samsung folks are off until Thursday so trying to figure this out. The SmartSwitch app does not recognize the phone.
Will look at Odin and appreciate any tips you, or anyone, has.

Anyone notice the nougat update lowered the phones resolution to 1080P ? I just realized it. i stayed on the OG firmware PB5 till i saw a hotspot no root hack.

Dos the rooted of7 kernel work on this?
somebody pull the update.zip..and upload it..if u didnt flash it already..so we can get the boot.img out of it
Just got this this morning. Anybody have a clue what it did, other than bug fixes?
There is a new Samsung bloat app in the drawer now. Also the unread counts color is now matching the theme I am running. I am running Black Gold from the themestore and instead of the ugly Samsung orange unread count it is now gold to match the theme...a very welcome addition imo. Only thing I've noticed so far.

I took the plunge. I can say it worked in my phone. I got the ofe update this morning and installed the of7 kernal. Rooted for me! Installed root check and gave me I have root. Note tho this is a risk and I am not responsible if you or anybody else has issues. I maybe just a lucky one. If unsure please wait till ofe kernal with root is released. I am just sharing my experience
its a different kernel in there....i looked..i also pulled the update myself..should have a proper root once i hand it to the kernel dev

To get root we have to build it from source! The source is not released at this time. Just because the kernel is ofe doesn't make it a different kernel either. Only thing you would see is changes in the ramdisk which i doubt there are any

I say partially fixed. I'm still getting refreshes, just not nearly as often. But my RAM is still always close to 80% full even with all the fun stuff disabled.
Is it hard to unroot to take the update? Or should i just wait for a custom flashable ROM? I've always jad HTC phones haha. Thanks guys.

Ohhh.... I may have to bite the bullet an actually update then. I was going to take a "wait and see" approach and try to maintain KNOX. But I really dont give a crap about maintaining KNOX anyway TBH - I wont use Samsung pay so who cares? I may just go ahead, take the OTA and Root 5.1.1. The sounds like the update we've been waiting on. It integrates LTE carrier AGGREGATION which is better for people in spotty LTE coverage areas.
Any last minute words of wisdom/advice before I take the 5.1.1 plunge and cant go back?!
I dont really see 5.1.1 getting root that wont trip KNOX like PingPong anyway. The Flashfire method has never really materialized. I have yet to see a tutorial or FAQ for Sprint users to update to 5.1.1 Rom with Flashfire and avoid modifying the bootloader to spare KNOX and keep pingpong root. Not sure it will happen... I mean I know its theoretically very possible. I just have not seen it confirmed that a Sprint users has FlashFired to 5.1.1/OF7, new firmware and all, but kept old bootloader/boot partition and maintained their KNOX free pingpong root.
Rollout Schedule:
 7/13 5% of base
 7/18 20% of base
 7/20 30% of base
 7/22 40% of base
 7/24 50% of base
 7/26 60% of base
 7/28 75% of base
 7/30 100% of base
Details:
 A software update to G920PVPU2BOFE is available for the Samsung Galaxy S 6 beginning, 7/1315
 Stores are reminded to update demo devices to the most current software version.
Fixes/Enhancements:
 Enable Carrier Aggregation 2x20
 Various Bug Fixes
so is the original 5.1.1 supposed to be done rolling out by now? I still have not received it....I went to a local best buy asking for a manual update and they told me "you already have the latest version." so that was obviously no help. anyone know where or how i can perform this update manually? everytime i check for updates it says "error connecting to server at this time"
I gave in and just updated to OFE. I must be in the 5% initial rollout! Root incoming.

OTA Update

I just got an OTA update. The "details" weren't detailed at all... just "improvements to android." This is just a heads up if you want to check for one. I'm also curious if anyone knows if this brings any improvements?
I don't have a wireless charger (Samsung has it and is supposed to be fixing it) but maybe this will fix the wireless charging problem?

Someone in the other thread said they worked for Verizon and that the last update allows for Samsung pay to work, but since they aren't officially supporting it, the last step is Samsung making a special update to give it the feature, somehow not through Verizon?
Everything is hearsay, anecdotal, and annoying. But that's all we've got I suppose.
The update makes the wireless charging worse for me using the older mini charger, it worked fairly well before the update.
Correct, It unlocks the functionality needed for Samsung Pay, Verizon and Samsung are still negotiating official support. Samsung is not willing to activate Verizon members cards until Verizon makes an agreement.
I hesitantly took this update on my Note5, and so far regret it. Everything was running absolutely fine until the update, then things got weird. I get ANRs, which isn't a terrible thing when seldom, but then the lock screen crashed over and over, and wouldn't let me do anything. Also, during the crash, it showed my home screen wallpaper and contents, which I'm pretty sure is a security concern. Anyways, I had to do a hard reset, and it cleared that issue up, but now boot time is significantly longer and the finger print reader is giving me problems. Not once did I have a problem with the finger print reader before the update. I'll look into this and see if anything in my control is causing this instability.

Get Zimperium stagefright detector from the play store and it will show the device is still vulnerable.
Now I'm not having issues like other users but Antutu scores dropped and things like crossy road are unplayable.
If this is how things are to come I'm done. This device was nearly perfect and now not so sure. I'm still in my 14 day period to return this device, may just do that.
More than likely it's due to the new kernel. With a locked bootloader this is impossible for the user to fix.

Weird, I had no issues. Hopefully it was a fluke and it clears up fo ryou.
Also, it seems to be confirmed that the OTA update does allow for Samsung Pay to work. Now we have to wait for the app to be released to the play store.
This is the Tweet from Will Graylin saying, "soon to be down loadable on Google Play for Verizon customers. Hoping in the next week or so."

Auto Rotate Issues w/ latest update?

Has anyone else noticed any issues with their sensors after the December security patch? My auto rotate and proximity sensor both seem to be on the fritz. A reboot will temporarily fix the issue. I'm wondering if it's just my phone or others are experiencing these issues.

After returning it and getting an S7 she hasn't seen a security patch since. She is sitting on Samsung's newest flagship and it's on October's security patch. Sorry to keep bugging you but could you please check in your Settings then About Device then scroll down to Android security patch level and let us know what it states (for example January 1, 2017)? OR in the same section, maybe you can also check what the Android Version is... It would be nice if you got the Nougat update/7.x!
If you have the February 1, 2017 patch then that's what most of us are waiting for to fix these issues! If you are still on the January patch then we need to look for another answer/fix.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Could someone on the ARE6 OTA download AIDA64, go to the "Display" tab and check the date under "GPU Version"?
Is there an update for tmobile?
Actually that build been out for weeks on AT&T Server as well so nothing really new with 2ARE6 . 2ARE2 is way better build and has newer stuff on it compared to 2ARE6 has old stuff which is weird.

I read in one of the threads that they have some method of pulling the hidden OTA updates from the update server. The crazy thing is there's new builds every few days. It seems crazy to have to wait months for a new update, and when it comes its still a month behind on security patches.
If you watch the t-mobile and ATT threads specifically, you'll see the Ota updates. Be warned, most don't pass safety net (ARC6 was the last one before ARE6 to pass), so if you need Google Pay or anything else that relies on safety net, your screwed. The other warning is that these OTA files factory reset your device.

How do you know which ones pass the safety net? Also ARF2 passes the safety net. Also why was ARF2 so big? I have it on my phone but nothing new has appeared...

You don't know until someone tries to use something like say Google Pay. For an update to pass SafetyNet, Samsung has to submit it to Google, and then Google has to Certify it. No idea why it's so big. The problem with these unofficial OTA updates is that your not really sure *what* is in them, with the exception of a possible new security patch level.
Have you actually gotten Google Pay to run on ARF2?

Verizon releases Oreo for LG V20

OTA updates are usually released in batches.
Just keep trying and it will pop up soon.
Mine showed up last night, near midnight. So far it seems very little different, I'm using NOVA Launcher and a couple of icons are changed, don't see much else.
I'll rate it as "mostly harmless."

Still says no update. Is it because I have a straight talk SIM card?

You don't need a Verizon SIM. I'm in another country, using a local SIM here and still got the update.
I suggest you wait for a few more hours.
NB. You may find luck with a different Wi-Fi network.
i still havent got it yet i check about every hour for last 3 days
Can someone check to see if call recording still captures both sides of the call with this Oreo update?
Got my notice also, screenshots here... https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77668746&postcount=388

I just now got my notice. Grow some patience it is not like it is going to do anything super awesome for you. In fact it will likely cause bugs and glitches for you. Btw I froze the updater gonna wait for a home cooked version from someone here.
Got the update, I lived outside US, I kept the sim card and just turn on WiFi and manually search for update.
It seems I have a lot better signal, anyone to confirm ?
When I turn off airplane mode, it find signal a lot faster.
Is there any chance we can use this version for other models, like the H990DS?

That would be a big no.

Yesterday, I updated it. But Ghost Screen Fix does not work well.
Ghost still appears when the status bar is pulled down.
Is there a way to fix it?
This update fixed my bluetooth streaming to Dodge Uconnect.
