The Moto page they are citing has been up since the soak went out. It's not an indication that the final rollout is in progress.

Nothing for me at 3:04PM

I don't expect it to be something beyond what we already have...

No new updates for me.

I think android authority jumped the gun on this one. Usually in the past we have seen the real OTA come out about 10 days from the start of the soak test. And they usually give the soak 7 days to go though.

Especially since they have listed for the OTA is :
Version History
Current version is
55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US
Version
Date Released
Release Notes
55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US*
February 2, 2012

Will it matter if my A2 has no sim card in it?

No a soak, is just a way to get it in the hands of several users to make sure it does not explode peoples phones, or turn wifi off or turn the radio to hell or anything really odd like that. Usually a soak is very similar as it is in IT, to where you turn it on, and let it run for a few days to make sure nothing catches fire, or dies right off.
If nothing like that happens, then it will be released as an ota in about 10 or so days, bugs and all.... and then the bug fixes will come in a month or so after.... sort of like our 2.3.6 was a huge bug fix to our 2.3.5.

haha - thats a decent way of explaining...

From what the devs/mods on the moto forums said, it'll only be a few days before the OTA is released. Somewhere around 3 days from SOAK start.
Matt/Mark (whichever one is there) said that this is basically a test to make sure the update will install.

I'd say it will probably be official soon. All in all, we know ICS runs pretty decent on our phone, no major bugs, and can install on a clean system. What's left?

Yea they are , if you are on untouched (not rooted, and no system apps touched) stock 2.3.6..... If not just find a guide that applies to the atrix 2 you have and follow them (Us, China, or wherever).....:good:

not for AT&T - i mean the instructions are going to be the same, but since its not available on AT&T, when you go to the homepage and select USA as country - the last update shown is not ICS, its GB...
EDIT: hankbizzo5 is also right - so those instructions are for international atrix 2 users (where ICS has already been rolled out) on stock 2.3.6. it will be similar for AT&T only when it hits here. so if you are modified, you need to fxz back - check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909319

I may be mistaken, but https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/90004 looks like it is referencing an AT&T upgrade, as the file is 67.21.125.MB865.ATT.en.US. I'm not an expert, but I assumed that the ATT part in the filename indicated that it was an AT&T update, but maybe all the updates are labeled that, I don't know.

Froyo rolling out across UK

According to SamsungMobileUK - Froyo is official now (again?). Everyone will have it by End of Month. Is that USA too?
From twitter:
https://twitter.com/#!/samsungukmobile/status/29684769499
Froyo starts rolling out today; everyone will have it by the end of Nov. To prepare, get the latest version of Kies http://bit.ly/cfjJDa
I think we should see it by Christmas. That way when we get it earlier, it will be that much more exciting!
Samsung has been quick to point out that when SamsungUK says 'everyone', they mean 'everyone in Europe'. They have consistently said 'By the end of the year' for us Yank's.

yes, but they have not really qualified when that really is - it could also be in November. One rumor site claims all of us by the 11th of November.
For a multinational company, they have terrible communication skills. We are left to infer what they mean. But you are correct - previous communication has been region specific.
I have already installed the Froyo version available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797282
After Froyo is released officially in the US for AT&T, does anyone knows if there would be a way to upgrade to the official version?
* Update: Nevermind my question... there is a thread about this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821480
According to this:

Especially when you consider that Samsung had access to the Gingerbread source for the Nexus S (the first Gingerbread phone to come out). At this point I am just hoping we get Froyo soon. If we are lucky, the Nexus S will help make an official update to Gingerbread come sooner; or if not, if the hardware is similar enough we may get unofficial gingerbread updates soon after the Nexus S sources become available.

Evo get's Gingerbread 6/3/11... TBolt must not be far behind.

I look forward to the official update so the devs can get to work and this whole Ginger radio thing can be put to bed.

I can say that it does come from verizon and its not your everyday cs rep or a store employee. I have known the person since I'm 5 (41 Now) and they have been with verizon 15 years and has worked his way up from tech to a nice position.
I can also add that they were looking into making the maintenance update part of the GB upgrade but were having issues with it so as of now they are two seperate ota's.
Im sure some of the devs here can check and see if this has any validity. I cant get him to confirm a GB date but he said nothing will be set for GB until current issues are dealt with..

All updates have issues so it's going to be pretty much unavoidable. Factory resets can generally clear up most of them though.

I haven't seen anyone saying they've gotten the OTA update. EP1W seems stable enough to release, though. I think the current issues a few people are having are isolated to their location (constant tower switching draining battery) or the TW4 implementation in the debloated leak.

You can check for, and potentially even download an OTA update when on a custom ROM, however, you won't be able to actually apply it. It checks literally every file to make sure it hasn't been modified, and if any file is missing or changed, it will fail to update.
As of right now,09/06/11 1:46PM Eastern in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with a last name starting in "S," I have NOT gotten the update. I know sometimes it rolls by area, sometimes it rolls by last name (like Sprint) - if it is coming today, it hasn't come to me yet. Obviously you guys will be first to know if/when it does.
I'm 100% stock, not even rooted. Just FYI.
I don't think any OTA will be rolling out until the end of the month at the earliest.
I think Verizon typically updates their device support page before rolling out OTA updates:
http://support.vzw.com/system_update/charge.html
http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/droid_charge_instructions.pdf
http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/droid_charge.pdf
Nothing new there so I'm guessing they haven't started rolling out GB anywhere.
Guess the people who say they've gotten it are lying. Not believing its released yet until I see screenshots. And yeah, even though the rom itself is done, they still have to finalize it and make sure it's ready for OTA, not just flashing through PST, train their staff, etc etc. But WE have it

The leak was labeled as "official" so maybe that is where people are saying they have he official one.
I think we will see the OTA's before the end of the month unless p3droid has another leak in their hands (this last one was a month old)
Nothing here in good old NH yet
So what real proof do we have that this EP1W is even the final release?

My thought is that this is not the release that Verizon will be rolling out. The "official" designation is something that the dev guys put on it, saying its their official release.
There are some strange things in the UI that make me think this isn't an RC. Also, the timing of it is odd, since the devs have had it in their possession for so long.

Let me correct you both,
I do not label things, if it is labled as official and OTA by samsung, then I will state it is official. If that changes over time I will state that as well. You assumption that I just randomly give titles to this is very incorrect.
As to your second point, we always have things in our possesion long before releasing to the general public. That is not an indicator of squat.

Got the same E-Mail early this morning and I completed the survey :fingers-crossed:
I received the same invite too. When completing the survey it asked if I rooted my phone and after saying yes, it asked if I was willing to go back to stock for testing. Not sure if that exempts us from the test group. Good thing it didn't ask if I was already testing the ICS leak that is installed on my phone.
Question for the DEVs.... Once we download the update.... Should we post it for you for guys? (in case any of you are not in the group selected)

In order to qualify for the soak test you had to agree to keep it confidential. That means not even talking about if you were invited on any forum and includes giving the update to any other person (it is a big no no). If you do that you are in violation of the NCA you agreed to. Having said that at the end of the survey it should have told you if you were included in the soak group or not. If you qualified based on your answers it would tell you so. If it did not say you would be included in the soak test and if you wanted to factory reset to do it immediately, then you most likely did not qualify. Having a rooted phone and restoring it to stock most likely does not preclude you from being included in the test. Moto wants all scenarios tested including previously rooted phones and people running an AT&T phone on a another network. If the soak test is successful the OTA should start going out to the public in about five to ten days after the soak test begins.

I too am a bit confused. Now at the 4.0.4 leak, I too have received the soak invite.
However, since the leak is running so well on my phone, I am hesitant to jump in for a soak if you will.
Instead, I think this is what I am going to do. Wait for the full ICS OTA to come out. Wait for our pros to get their feet wet a bit more with our new fxz thread that has sprung up, and finally, wait and see if those of us running the leak can get to the OTA ICS when it is released. From what I have read now, there is a bit of nebulous information on whether it will ever be possible due to one particular part of the fxz process. I encourage you all to read the threads and *cough* soak it all in so you understand.
Until then, I'm not fixing my phone, as with the 4.0.4 leak its certainly not broken like it was with 2.3.6, and I will be patient. I know its exciting to be a soak tester, though based on scar tissue from having to fxz when Moto soak tested 2.3.6, I am just going to sit and wait. Perhaps those of us on 4.0.4 leak should do the same until the trained professionals see what we have to work with when the OTA ICS is released.

My guess is that that leak was so close to the soak test that it has a fairly high chance of being identical to the soak test and final release. Wait for the soak test to begin and see what version people are running (if they will violate the NCA and tell you). If you have the same version then you are already good to go. If not then you would need to restore your phone somehow to stock 2.3.6 in order to install the final OTA update as it most likely will not validate being installed over a leak.
Is there any way you can up the soak to a filehosting site?

Wrong!! AT&T and Moto have fixed several of the issues that have we have seen in this leak. Remember the leak we have is from july 6th. The soak will be a new build as of most likely last week from my sources.
Also all this NCA buisness... do you really think that everyone in the soak is going to keep this from us? I got the 2.3.6 soak the day it came out and released to well our only other dev then lfaber06, and we had 2.3.6 roms and patches out to everyone that week. I still have never released who gave it to me, unless those people want the credit.
Also you WILL HAVE to be on 2.3.6 for the SOAK files to work, the install will work just exactly like the leak did. We also now have a way back to 2.3.6, and I will release a script and all the files tomorrow so that those in the leak can do this.
Gotcha... I know it said I made it, but was flipping through the screens as I was running out of the house. Thanks for the clarification and info on the non disclosure.

People can technically do that but to participate in the soak test they have to agree to an NCA (Non Disclosure Agreement) where it specifically prohibits talking about the soak test and sharing the OTA files with anyone. So if they do that they violate the NCA they agreed to to be part of the soak test. I think the logic behind that is even though the soak is probably the final release if there is a major bug or bricking issue they don't want it to spread behind the targeted soak test pool of users.

The soak files will validate whether people are updated to stock 2.3.6 and maybe 2.3.5. It most likely won't have the hashes to validate the system files in the leak so the probability of that is most likely nil. Stock, signed OTA files check every file in the system with hashcodes (either mda or shasum usually) to make sure they are stock. If every file is not stock the OTA will refuse to update the phone. So if you are on the leak it will most likely refuse to install.
It will be interesting to see what clock speed the CPU runs at in the soak / final update.
I got a invite for the soak testing too. I have no idea as to how i could of gotten that because I've never registered with moto.

It is sent to selected members of Moto Owner's forum that also filled in their model, IMEI and carrier info. That registers you for the Motorola Feedback Network. If you did not do that then there is no way they would have sent you an invite to the soak test.

Again, as I said before. this is wrong. The SOAK is just like an OTA and will be linux patch files ONLY!!! There is no check to see if you are on a leak to see if you are on ICS or not, just a check of the signatures on the files they plan to patch, again not EVERY file. The cheks are md5 of ONLY the files they are going to patch, so that they know that the patch will take.
We have seen these before, and dealt with them before here in the A2 forum.

Motorola updated their Android software upgrade page...

...And the Photon Q is still slated to get Jelly Bean (4.1)! Though it doesn't have an estimated time like some of the other more 'popular' devices they have.

Posting this here just to fill everyone in on Moto's latest decision.
Without a time estimation other than the 'it will get it', I'd say we're looking at June/July or later.
Good news. Hopefully they work out the major bugs that they have.

What bugs? Mine seems to work pretty good.
i always buy the phones that get neglected i guess we may have to wait a bit. i agree tho ^, my device is running great, no problems, and loving the keyboard. great battery life too, since i switched to CDMA-only anyway.
I've been checking the phone for updates every day since I got it two weeks ago.

Ha, dude, I hear ya. I've had the exact same problem. Only phone I got that was well supported was teh original Motorola Droid. Since then, it was Droid Charge, which was ignored by everything, HTC Rezound, which had decent enough support, but nothing great, and now this thing. I just can't get a break.
Still waiting for a new OTA. Have been switched back to the Evo Shift for more than a month now. I may just go with a Galaxy Note 2.

Lol, I find it kind of irksome when the carrier gets you on a 2-year contract, and then stops updating the device after 7 months. That's basically what happened to the Sidekick 4g and the My touch 4g Slide.
Just received notification as attached..did anybody receive it also? Not JB i guess..

Yep, i just got it too. It's only 8.17 MB so probably too small to be JB. Hopefully it will fix up a few things..
That's the little "overall device stability" improvement update Sprint has begun to push out.
I'm rooted, unlocked, and modified, so I won't get it. Can y'all report back on any stability improvements?

Update failed(
I just got a notification for an update for today too (77.8.14.XT897.Sprint.en.US)
According to the release notes it's "Various fixes and enhancements to improve overall device stability." I'm willing to be there's some other stuff in there to make it harder for us to actually *use* our phones. (like how the one from November silently broke bluetooth tethering...)

here it is if you wanna have a look:
FXZ here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095536
Just got the update as well.
I'm unlocked, rooted, deOdexed, & modded so I don't want it (unless anyone can confirm it won't affect any of that).
Any quick way to do away with the notice and have it not come back? Maybe edit the build.prop?
I'll peek around in the build.prop in a bit when I have time to see if anything jumps out.

Yogi that say .10 does anyone have a Zip flash-able upgrade to .14? I am getting the upgrade note, Also I know(belive) we can fastboot restore stock recovery, is there a flashable zip somewhere containing this aswell?, Thanks in advanced
Just installed here too. Verified still 4.0.4 so no JB. Nothing obvious for sure and it seems to be running the same to me.
