My Mix 2s is on the way and I'm excited to get it. I'm just wondering how is Xiaomi with supporting their phones? Do they tend to be one upgrade of Android then done? How are they with security updates? I've wanted a mi mix since the first but only now had the money to snag one. Coming from the V20 while a great phone in it's day - LG never updated it from 7.0 and I've gotten only a couple of security updates. I'll keep it as a backup for the moment because it has literally everything but wireless charging.
Since I bought my mix 2s in may I've received about 2 updates. Currently waiting for miui10
Sent from my Mi MIX 2S using Tapatalk
The list of MIUI 10 is quite long,
so compared to others I would say they update longer.
I will also buy Mix2s for several reasons and this is one of them
Xiaomi is known for supporting their phones very long but you have to keep in mind that Miui doesn't follow android versions. There are phones with lollipop and miui 9

Being that the Mix 2s had been released for a good few months now and it supports project treble I expected at least a test ROM by now.
I currenctly own a Mi5s and must say that the S never got the support that the Mi5 did. Even from Xiaomi themself. Do people expect this to happen with the mix 2S as well?
I'm curious since I'm looking for a new device. Tried the Oneplus 6 a couple of day but I didn't convince me enough. Now looking at the Mix 2S and Mi8, but LOS is a big deal for me.
There is a whole separate subforum dedicated to project treble development on Xda, all the roms are there, look it up.
Device specific roms are not yet available because Qualcomm hasn't released the sdm845 sources yet.
This is exactly the reason why I went with the OP6 instead.

Yes because there are already tons of roms for the 1+6. Oh wait... People are waiting for the 845 sources, this is why there are no roms currently. There are also no roms for the 1+6 currently, only modified stock ones
Mi5 (SD820) -> Mi5s (SD821, an overclocked antecessor)
Mix 2 (SD835) -> Mix 2s (SD845, a newer generation)
Hey People,
Any hope of Android 10 coming now as a christmas present?
Guess we'll find out soon ?
Yeah know it doesn't help :good:

Chances for it are rather low.
So basically Android 9 was released by Google on August 6, 2018 and we got the Beta for Pie at the end of November/ beginning of December 2018. Considering that Android 10 was released by Google on May, 2019. We can assume that it takes roughly 3-4 months for the first year Android One phones. Mi A1 got its second Android update (Android 9) at the end of December 2018, which means that it took the Mi A1 4 months to get its second Android update, which means altogether that XIAOMI IS FRICKING LATE AGAIN.
So yeah, I also hope for at least a 10 Beta, but I'm not keeping my hopes up about it. I'd suggest you do the same. Cheers.
Meanwhile I got the MIUI 11 update on my other phone at the end of October. Android One is a joke.

No, this only shows Xiaomi's priorities. They put the best part of their developers to work on MIUI, and leave A1 phones for their spare time.
There was a mention in other thread a while ago about Xiaomi wanting to drop A1 phones all together, but we never got confirmation about it.

It's not necessary for MIUI 11 to have android 10, on my other phone I got MIUI 11 and I still have android 9.
MIUI is Xiaomi's selling point. Android One probably has a relatively low priority and therefore very few manpower, as it produces the least profit. All of their customer support people I had contact with didn't even knew that they sell non MIUI devices.
Edit: Nokia isn't any better. My Nokia 7 Plus usually gets the security updates later than my A2 Lite and Android 10 will not be around until next year as well.

Mi A1 launched with Android 7 which means it doesnt support native Project Treble. On the other side our phone launched with Android 8 which means we must take updates fast than Mi A1.
Even Huawei P Smart 2019 got its Android 10 update. This is real shame for Xiaomi and Google.

I heard MIUI 11 is not at all Android 10 (at least on my father's Redmi Note 7 and neighbor's Redmi Note 8) and Xiaomeme (as we call it since the 'bricking' update of Mi A2) shows that they're really cockteasing Android 10 in most of their devices where in fact it is still Android Pie (at least in developing countries like PHL regions).
And yeah, AndroidOne is not their priorities, even they did not fix bugs, but instead, adding more bugs than what it already have.
Nokia 7.1 get today android 10 update

No. Xiaomi isn't the best when it comes to updates. Guess they don't have the manpower.
Edit: Also most other manufacturers only releases Android 10 updates in this year for their flagships. Mid-range / budget phones are at the bottom of the line.

MIUI 11 It's not an Android update, it's just a Customization layer

Do you think Huawei P Smart 2019 is a flagship??? It got Android 10 update!! Plus this phone has heavy bloated UI instead of our phone’s naked Android UI. Huawei updated it before the Xiaomi&Google’s Android One phone.
Google should take action about it. Google can suspend Xiaomi’s Android One licence. Xiaomi intentionally not giving any info about promised update and they still didnt gived any OS update. No one wants to buy a lie!
I thought the whole point of the Android One program was to ensure that the phones received timely updates for 2 years, which would include at least 2 OS updates.
Oh guys, calm down. December update for A2 lite isnt even out and you are talking about bad update policy. Once a month we get a security patch and Android Q is guaranteed for our device.
What do you all expect from a phone that costs 150,- (and now even cheaper)?
Buy a Pixel phone if you want beta and stable versions of the latest android.
I have the Global Version of the Poco F2, the updates on this device have been terrible, I will be exchanging phones from the Poco to a Mi 10 Pro, this is only my opinion but it had great potential, no updates, the lack of security patches at least and some bugs I have encountered have made my experience worst.
I hope they give you your updates.
I hope my experience with the Mi 10 Pro will be good.
I had mi 10 pro before this f2. Good phone

Good for you. I bought the F2 Pro mainly because of the big battery and the pop-up front camera, which is great for paranoid people like me. That was nearly 2 months ago and my phone has been switched off since then due to lack of custom ROMs, because I'm not a fan of Chinese software. I agree that Xiaomi support for our devices is laughable though, but I have no valid alternative to switch to.

Yeah I get you, I almost of the times switch phones, but the lack of updates has made my mind on changing it. It is a good phone tho, I have a bug where if I do or receive a call and if I talk with the earpiece they don't hear me, I have to go into speaker and then again to earpiece to be able to talk normally. My signal hasn't been stable tho, I have a redmi note 8 pro which supports same bands and it doesn't have that problem, switching Rat mode doesn't seem to do any effect either. There are many things that need to be fixed but this are software problems.
Hardware wise I haven't had any problem.
The mi note 10 was good but just remembered 1 bug. The curved edge always made false presses. Done my head in!!
I can get a Mi10 for the same price as a F2 Pro and I took the F2 Pro, because few min. Mi10 make me sick, curved and **** hole.
Thinking also about swapping Poco for Find X2 Pro
What do you mean lack of updates? I have had three already! They have updated it to miui 12 and now they have got to update it to Android 11, be patient.
Just install Xiaomi.eu ROM and forget about oficial global ROM. Anyways only 2020 phone worth to get instead POCO F2 Pro is Oneplus 8 Pro and you need spend more money, Mi 10 Pro is garbage having the Oneplus 8 Pro and Oneplus 8 normal version is not worth compared to Poco F2 Pro. Another alternatives are new Oneplus Nord and you save money or 2019 top phones like Oneplus 7T or Realme X2 Pro.
And still every phone have annoying hole or notch, so Poco is the only one choice if you want a clean screen.
Definitely worth getting off global onto xiaomi.eu then? I've had the phone about 4 days and not sure how much work is required to make the switch.
I imagine it's just bootloader unlock, twrp install then clean flash. After that any regular updates should be easy?

I'm the same I've got a OnePlus 5T that's getting old and the battery life isn't great. Got this because of the battery life, pop up camera, headphone jack. The specs and features are awesome, but the lack of custom ROM support is terrible. I haven't actually began using the phone and was more trying to debloat it, but having issues finding how I can remove everything Google and Xiaomi related without crashing the phone.
I'm not in an urgent hurry to change over, but yeh if LineageOS or any other ROM was released it would be an awesome option. Even I'd be happy with a MIUI ROM that was fully debloated and without gapps, as it's proving tricky to work out what I can remove.
I had a Huawei Mate 8 previously and said I'd never again get a phone that has limited support. I almost went for the OnePlus 8 Pro, but has no headphone jack. Otherwise I almost would go for the OnePlus 7 Pro and just put up with no headphone jack as there's a lot of development for that, but it is old.

Thanks for that. I started the process of bootloader unlock, it took many tries of the exact same steps before it acknowledged a valid account and then started then 7 day timer, how anticlimactic lol.

I suggest you go for the stable version because the beta has some certification issues at the moment. Unless you need root and also like to fiddle around

does xiaomi.eu rom pass safetynet with magisk?
Is it just me or does it feel like Xiaomi is not really pushing regular upates to our device?
At the begining, it was about one week after the Mi 10 got it's updates and lots of other devices are getting their regular updates, but the Mi 10 Pro is stuck at the august security patches and MIUI version 12.0.2.
I thought, it's a flagship devices and it will get it's updates quite early, but it doesn't look like that. Quite disappointing...
I'm talking about tne non CN version of course.
Well, I also notice that there's a big stop with the updates. I'm still with the security patch July and MIUI version 12.0.1 on my MI 10 PRO.
I don't know what Xiaomi is waiting for to release that update.
Same here 12.0.1.0 so sad
I got 12.0.5 yesterday, but it looks like it's a beta release.
Mi Mix 3 was a flagship phone in 2018. Mine is global version and I have not received updates since 2021.
Are they really gonna abandon software support after 3 years and leave it with Android 10?
What's your take on this, guys?
Miui 13 Come to china firmware but with android 10. Xiaomi was not good to maintain there product and like you i hope have à last update with miui 13 but i not expecting more than that....
For me it's the First and last xiaomi Phone i bought cause i have 2 update i must force..... Expecting more userfreindly experience.
The phone work great again and all the hardware part of this one was good 3 years after.....
