I've got this new tab recently. Has anyone rooted this device? Is there any hope for having the ways to root this device? Dear developers, please, do something for this device.
Thanks.
Just filling in some information holes.

Sorry to get your hopes up OP, I too have the Acer Iconia One 10 B3-A40 and would like to root mine as well. I wanted to add more details about the device to hopefully further along the progress.
The device in particular that I'm talking about it the Acer Iconia One 10
Model:B3-A40
Android Ver:7.0
Security Patch Level: January 5, 2018
Kernel Ver: 4.4.22
Image Version: Acer_AV0N0_B3-A40_RV09RC01_WW_GEN1
Build Number: Acer_AV0N0_B3-A40_9.001.00_WW_GEN1
CPU Vendor: MTK
CPU Version: MT 8167
I'm a super noob when it comes to rooting but a relatively comprehensive learner. With little to no guidance I've attempted to unlock the boot loader and TWRP flash to no avail. I would love to either be told by an experienced rooter that it is either impossible to root this device or the steps I would need to take to root this device.
Thank you all for your time, sorry for the lengthy post.
I'd need guidance too for this device, unlocking bootloader doesn't seem to do much, all power-up combinations simply lead to starting "demo mode"...

I have the same tablet. No luck with rooting tried pc rooting and everything. A Dev on another website said it was unrootable and there is currently no root for Acer B3A40 . Guess the iPad we all have is a waste of money if anyone else has a solution will be greatly appreciated thanks

This device is a MTK device, there is a tool that can build a TWRP recovery for your device for you.
https://devsjournal.com/twrp-recovery-for-all-mediatek-phones.html
Once you've successfully built a working TWRP for your device, flash Magisk via TWRP to root the device.

Here, this page has several options for building/porting/installing TWRP on MTK devices. The last option works on rooted or non rooted devices.

If you have the tablet that is in the title of this thread.
This wasn't hard to find at all, it's on the Acer website, the stock firmware versions are listed on this page, click where it says "+OS (3)"
Then download the firmware listed at the top, the one that says:
Date: 2018/02/27
Version: RV09RC01.WW.GEN1
Vendor: Acer
Size: 1,804.6 MB
This firmware exactly matches what is already installed on the device according to the specs that were listed earlier in this thread.
https://www.acer.com/ac/en/ID/content/support-product/7251?b=1
Download that firmware, then follow the instructions in the last method that is listed in the link that I posted with the different ways to build/install TWRP.

The MTK Droid Root & Tools program is asking for the recovery.img file, which isn't in the update file downloaded from the Acer site.
It does have the scatter file and boot.img.
These are all the files in the zip file downloaded from the Acer site:
boot.img
file_contexts.bin
lk.bin
preloader_neostra8167_tb_n.bin
scatter.txt
system.new.dat
system.patch.dat
It does say I can use a recovery.img file from a similar tablet, but I do I know which tablet to use and where can I get it? Any ideas?
So, no ideas about how to get the recovery?
I found the recovery for the A3-A40, but MTK Droid Root & Tools complained that the size wasn't what it should be.

You should be able to port the A3-A40 TWRP to work on B3-A40.
Do a Google search for:
"Port TWRP Mtk"
That will give you lots of results with videos and guides to port TWRP on Mtk devices.

You can find alternate steps for unlocking the bootloader here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041627
Also, if you need help with rooting or installing a new ROM, I've compiled a set of instructions on my technology blog (thoughtsontechnology.com, my second-to-last post).
(NONE of this work is mine, I just compiled the text and links in one spot for easier access.)

philos64 can you explain which drivers you mean....if the user can plug the device into the computer and is recognized then driver issue should be fine as I am able to load TWRP however this doesn't allow root access and the Unlock Device App v7.1.apk is a device resident application.
Cheers
Footnote:
I got it sorted
1. Download TWRP 2.4 and install via fastboot
2. Download this file http://www.mediafire.com/?cr209hb5e2fr910
3. Reboot into RCK
4. Install Downloaded zip in link
5. Reboot and you now have root access.
Let me know how you go
Cheers

Hello, I own a TF300TG which mounts 4.2.1 android version, 10.6.2.11 fw.
I'm trying to root it with SRS root (eset32 detected it as trojan, btw) but it keeps failing.
VROOT doesn't even install on my PC (i don't know why, it's written in chinese).
how can I obtain root privileges?

The easiest way is to unlock your bootloader, install a custom recovery like TWRP and then flash the SuperSU ZIP from that recovery.
Make sure you double-check that you picked the right recovery version for your bootloader.

Yeah, it is tricky to pick the right recovery version with all those incompatible bootloaders and the new KitKat ROMs needing yet another one to flash properly.
There are other options for rooting, search for motochopper and similar tools, but personally I don't regard them as simple and some of them have been reported to contain malware.
To help you find the right recovery version, first need to know the version of your bootloader. You can find it at the top left of the bootloader screen. The interesting part are the numbers starting with 10. or 9. for really old ones. Then need to know, what ROM you want to root. Using stock Asus ROM?
You can safely use a recovery for TF300T; it is much more important to pick the right version for your bootloader.

what do you suggest me to do? Go ahead and try it or hope one day a more specific version will be released?

The guide looks good to me and should work fine for your boot loader.
Instead of the attached TWRP, you can safely use any TWRP for the TF300T, as long as it has -42 in the name. 2.6.0.0 might be a little buggy, not sure.

Just to confirm that i have TF300TG with JB 4.2.1 and my bootloader is 10.6.2.11 and i have used the link that you quoted in this reply (this) and all work for me just fine.:good:

Okay was able to successfully root my Samsung Galaxy SMT530NU, I have TWRP downloaded but how do you find the correct device name for this device so I do not install the wrong file and brick my device?

Hopefully TWRP will work for recovery, but before I move further I wanted to turn to the forum for support. Thanks much!

As far as I know TAB 4 still don't have TWRP support , I'm also waitin for my T331
Is there any custom recovery available for this Tab? It seems support for the tablets are slow so far, maybe because it is new? Not even sure how long it has been out for.
I am learning Java coding now and intend to start contributing to the community at some point.
I'm glad I was able to get it rooted at least.
It's been out since early may, just not enough interest.
SM-T530NU Tab 4 10.1 Wifi model
I dont understand why there wouldnt be interest for these android tablets. They are some of the most powerful on the market. Honestly they should be hot **** right now. I think basically they are not in the right hands because they are still fairly new and expensive. With a proper recovery and some nice roms and overclock support it would be super beast. I just got my tab 4 10.1 model: SM-T530NU last night. Traded a laptop and my HP Touchpad 10 inch tablet for it. I got it rooted with towelroot no problem. Also went through and got rid of knox and samsung apps i didnt want. Im currently on 4.4.2 and saw there was an update but i'm going to wait on that. How would one go about building a proper TWRP and build at least a cyanogenmod rom for it? I have one and am willing to test or whatever to get something going. I would need someone with knowhow to teach me

I read somewhere that you can reroot if you replace the original boot.img i want to say it was. then you could root with towelroot, and then copy the new boot.img back on and root will stay. worth a try if you updated and still want root. you flash the file with odin. I could upload the boot.img from mine if we have the same one
Also, what version are you running now after updating? Is there a way to get this update to take a look at it? The SM-T530NU source from samsung is kitkat, not sure when it was uploaded, and im guessing it's the 4.4.2 i have now.
It appears the Source code from samsung is 4.4.1 which should be plenty to get a recovery working? How do we get more attention and someone with more knowhow to take a look at this? If we had a working recovery id at least try to port cyanogenmod to our device. i would test a real devs recovery but not trying myself with that

So I just purchased the Honor 8 and I have been trying to root it because I'm not a fan of the lack of options that were available on my Nexus 6p. However everything I have tried with adb, twrp, kingroot and nothing works. I'm not that advanced with root knowledge (yes I still want to root). To be honest I'm at the point where I would pay someone to chat online with step by step instructions during the rooting process! I'm just so frustrated.

A little more information would help, what model are you on (FRD/ Al??), which firmware.
Essentially though, update device via OTA, unlock bootloader, flash TWRP via adb then root( flash SuperSU via TWRP).
There are several guides for all these steps available.
It is however essential that you use the proper TWRP and SuperSU found in the development section.
Unfortunately there is no root method for locked bootloaders
Guide :fingers-crossed:

I have tried doing every and all factory hard resets tried different flash tools probably didnt work because my computer doesnt display the correct model. Im trying to learn python at the very moment new to all of this have only hrs of experience of this all. Somebody plz be ever so kind to help me out, thanks!

Where did this problem start? Did you cause this by modifying, attempting to root or flashing the device with something that caused this?
If so, about your only option is to use your device's flashtool to flash the stock firmware. If your device's stock firmware isn't available then you might be out of luck repairing your device. If this is the case then your only other option might be getting someone that has a device exactly like yours that is rooted and getting them to pull copies of the various .img files needed for your device then using adb shell to dd those .img files on your device. But, to be honest, I don't think this is gonna happen for you. You probably will have to take the device to a repair shop. It will probably be cheaper to just buy another tablet because the cost of repair will probably be more than what you paid for the device.

Okay not sure which Flash tool to use nor get my stock rom I dread to say but i dont think there is one available. Its a generic tablet its made by Quanta. Not sure how to put it in a download mode either I assume ADB is the only way to transfer any files.

Your device probably uses SPFlashtool or fastboot.

Its pretty easy to fix a soft bricked device , even if stock rom isnt available , any rom compatible with his device can fix the issue .

To be compatible, the ROM typically has to be ported and that usually requires the stock firmware or stock source from the device that the ROM is being ported over to. 99% of the time you can't just flash a ROM from a different model number, even if the CPU is the same, there's quite a bit more to it than that. The android operating system is built for the specific hardware it is installed on, the two devices would have to be exactly the same and have the exact same components, any differences in hardware make he firmwares incompatible.
For this particular device, I doubt the stock firmware or stock source code area available, even if it were, porting another ROM wouldn't be necessary because if it were available it could just be flashed with that instead of porting a ROM.
About the only time a ROM from a different model number can be used without any porting or edits being made is when the devices are exactly the same device just rebranded with a different "name".
But thanks for trying to tell me something that you thought I didn't know, now it seems I've told you something that you didn't know.

1.Search for your tablet's root package , download it and move it to your tablet's sd card. Then enter your recovery mode by pressing power button+ Home button+ Volume button at same time for 10sec. Once entered , go to option "apply update from sd card" and select the root package you downloaded. (CONGRATS YOU HAVE ROOTED YOUR PHONE!)
2.Search for your tablet's 'custom recovery' , download it and flash it through odin tool(pc) .
3.Final Step ! BASED ON THE RECOVERY YOU FLASHED THESE STEPS MAY DIFFER , SO REPLY ME IF YOU SUCCEED IN FLASHING CUSTOM RECOVERY

Odin is for Samsung devices, not other devices.
The device they are repairing is not a Samsung device. They have this device and a Samsung device. The issue on this device occurred while they were in the process of flashing their Samsung device.
I know you're trying to help but don't post anything unless you are absolutely certain that you know what you're talking about.
In this case, you didn't and that can easily lead to a hard bricked device because they followed your instruction.
Stick to answering questions about devices you personally have dealt with, don't go assuming that you understand someone else's device. They are all different, the methods, tricks and tools for one won't necessarily work on another.
You understand android somewhat but judging by your posts, you don't understand the differences in devices and methods. But you will after you've been here a while.

DO NOT USE ODIN ON YOUR DEVICE!!!
Odin is only for Samsung devices.

thankyou so much for the fast responses much appreciated to take your time to explain. Okay i have a question what would be the course of detailed action to preform getting any and all missing .img's it may need. Also i know its a crazy question but would i be able to preform this in store with the displayed tablet that matches mine? How difficult is something like this, and is there any other methods at all I can try to boot past this bootloader. And now that i remember correctly from reading others this happened when I upgraded to 5.1 or 5.0 thank you everybody once again!

No, you wouldn't be able to get it from a tablet in the store, it's a rather involved process that requires connecting the device to PC, it also requires rooting the device and flashing a custom recovery, and that's all before you actually get to where you can pull the files. It'll take a couple of hours,or more to do it.

The only other option is pretty risky. You can try a firmware from another device that has the same CPU and hardware as your device, you'd have to compare specs. It would have to have the same CPU, same screen resolution, same camera(front and rear), same amount of RAM, same amount of internal storage, same accelerometers, etc.. It has to have all the same components that yours has.
