Flash notifications app for Moto G6 / G6 Plus - Moto G6 Plus Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hello all. Since our Motorols do not have LEDs, I have found a very good application that solves this problem by enabling flash notification. The application is free and without advertising. Maybe some of you know her but maybe I helped someone.
Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trendy.frontflashnotification
XDA:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-frontflash-notification-v1-6-t3734332
A big thank you to the author of the application.

actually i noticed a LED in the top right upon booting the phone for the first time, so physically, there is a notification LED. But, i think its disabled in the android software, maybe a custom rom can fix that at some point.

In fact, if you look at it in good light, you can see a small dot on the right side of the flash. However, I'm not sure if it's a led. It would be fun because then they will do it in unofficial roms.

It is a white LED. If you let your phone discharge its battery all the way down to nothing, this light will turn on when you charge it. After a few moments, it then turns off. No idea why Moto set it up this way. I'd rather have the LED on all the time when charging.

Ex kernel manager gives you options to use the white led. I have it set to be on when my phone is charging lol

Optimus 3d notification led idea

Maybe this belongs in the development area but...
The evo3d got a notification led wich i like...what about if we can make the capacitive button led's blink or something when we have a mail and sms...
Maybe more guys have this idea but well....tell me if its possible and a good idea
It is probably possible and I think developers will have a hand on it if they havent yet.
It will be eventually supported.
this idea is awesome. i think it is possible

Glad someone's liking it
This would be a nice to have for sure. If can light up those "buttons" to use for notification, it will be great.
This is already done with O2X, so it is definitely on the way for us
My previous phone was GalaxyS which had no led aswell.
I used a programmed called NoLed on the Galaxy. Installed on Optimus 3d and seems to work fine.

It doesnt support the capacitive button led's.
Sorry i was only suggesting this as a temporary alternative until further developments.
I really like this idea!
But is it possible to expand on it further?
Since there's 4 capacitive buttons on the phone, are we able to make them blink individually?
For example... home button blinks when we have a missed call, menu button blinks when we have a message, back button blinks when we have an email, and etc?
Noled seems to be working fine for me...

Unfortunately not. As the app page states, AMOLED uses no power displaying a fully black pixel so displaying alerts on the screen takes very little power.
Now as the O3D has an old fashioned LCD, it consumes potentially a ton of power just to turn the screen on at all, because it has to light the whole screen just to start. Plus, it uses the MOST power displaying black (least displaying all white), so it would need the opposite behaviour.
[UPDATE]
Ah I see you can make the screen blink, I didn't notice that at first. Might actually be useful then.
i've tested it with the developer of the LG notification app. it seems, that the files which have to be used are'nt writeable. so without root it won't work
perhaps we should send tons of mails to LG, that they make it possible.

Modified 2X/Black touch led notification app
Hi guys,
I've modified Martin Börjesson's app and now it works on ROOTed O3D and I'll upload it soon.
To-do:
1) fading doesn't work
2) change of brightness doesn't work
What will never work
1) separate LEDs - I don't think there's a way to control each of them, only all 4 LEDs

"Ghosts" on the display

Hello everyone, this evening when I play with my s8 plus, i notice that when i swipe from one screen to another, there are "ghosts" goes from top and bottom of the device. The worst it is, when the bringhtness is set to center/low and bluelight sensor is on, ist that normal? I try to make a video and take the screen when I took the password. Phone is after latest update QDD, after I install it, i clear dalvik cache, after that I make factory reset. The phone after the update is little bit slower, and how i remember, befor update the antutu was showing acros 175000, now it is about 172-3000. Where can be problem?
The new video and photo what i take:
https://youtu.be/XBG1P0EqJRg
http://http://imgur.com/a/DCkpA
I see nothing on the pic and vid.
What ghosts?
Could you please draw in the picture and Mark the places with the ghosting?
Hello, yesterday I was in Samsung Service center, and they told me, that is normal display functionality. So I was going to the near shop and compare it to another galaxy S8+ and lets see the differences, my display is little bit purple, what i should do, they said I should wait to another update, but last update QDD im currently download and install it and the phone have still a little bit purple colors on some angles. PS: my phone is after QDD update more lagging than before, some ideas what I should do? I made Clear dalvik cache and after that factory reset.
If you are unhappy with a device costing 1k€ then take it back, I certainly would. I am not suggesting you have a lemon but let the retailer see the problem and if you are not satisfied insist on a new mobile. Mine, so far, is fine, zero problems (touch wood). If it misbehaves it will go back as it should.
Let us know how you get on.

I would suggest getting it replaced. However, if you have as much trouble showing them what the issue is as you are us, I doubt they'll swap it. You need to put up some solid color backgrounds and see what it does. The pics you're posting could just be banding in the original image. Not sure what to to tell you.
That's the problem when I try the service code and turn on the red, green, blue screen, everything looks OK. As soon as I go to the main screen or I go to the application menu, and the brightness is set to less than half, the problem is there. This is not a static picture, the "bubble" above moves. When I turn on the blue light sensor, so it's even worse, but if I give more brightness, the problem is not. Also, there is no problem in any application. It would be good to have someone who has s8 plus orchid gray, to check if have the same problem, or at least try setting the orchid gray theme. Anyway, when I compared it with the other s8, the display was more pink, and I did not notice the problem what I have.

Screen Color Balance/Blue Light Filter

Hello,
First post here, looking for some help.
I just updated my At&T Galaxy Note 8 to Oreo, and with Oreo has come a very strange problem where the color of the screen is very red. It is definitely a software problem, as the correct color balance is there for a couple seconds after booting, then the red comes back. This has lead me to believe it is a problem with the blue light filter being unable to be turned off. The switch is settings is definitely off, and I even tried using Adhell 2 to completely disable it, but have had no luck. I've also revoked the permission to use screen overlays of all my apps that had it and that didn't help either.
If anyone has any ideas how to get my whites back to being white, I'd appreciate it greatly!
I'm having the same problem. Also my notifications aren't showing on any of my apps until I open them. I read something about the blue light application being turned off. I made sure my location is turned on and blue light still is stuck on.

i am having the exact same problem as well. same situation just i have a tmobil phone. i tried to disable the blue light filter with the bk manager to no luck .
my wife who has a note 8 as well has not updated and when compared side by side my phone has the blue light filter stuck on with the minimum opacity. i can still turn on the filter it just makes it even more incredibly red. i sadly do not have any advice to offer and hope there will be a hot fix soon.
To all who are suffering this. Check these settings.
1. Go to Settings/ Device Maintenance/ battery and make sure power saving mode is turned off.
2. Settings/ Display/ Screen Mode and make sure its on the highest setting.
3. This is mostly a diagnostic step but, Turn the blue light filter off, then HOLD the power but to open the power menu then touch AND HOLD power off till it asks for comfirmation to boot into safe mode. Then do it.
If non of that works. A Factory Reset may be needed.
Back your personal stuff up. NEVER back up settings if your having a software issue.
Id turn the blue light filter off first then reset from recovery.
Mine started doing the same thing today and I checked the setting and saw I accidentally turned on scheduling.
First note 8 I bought did this the first day, ended up returning g it for a new phone. Mine had a yellow tint to the screen and there's a million things on Google about it.

Moto G6: LED - confirmed

The LED is confirmed by Motorola. I asked them a question and got an answer.
My question:
" This little dot on the right side of the flash in front is what it is then? You can see it in good lighting (moto g6). "
Response from the Motorola:
" Thanks for asking, that's interesting. The little dot on the right side part of the front flash is a sign of life LED light. It would only show/activate when the battery is deeply discharged and it's plugged into the charger. "
There is hope that in unofficial rom you will be able to use it.
Woah, woah, woah, hold up. It had an LED the entire time? So, why can't we use it? Unless it's a single color LED.

Probably all Moto G6 variants have this. Unfortunately, I can not find anywhere information whether it is a single-color LED. Motorola is pursuing a strange policy, the previous models also had a hidden diode and hardly anyone knew about it.

For now I do not see newer firmware and update system for Moto G6, I do not know how it is with the Plus version. This diode is useless. You have to wait for effective solutions from unofficial developers. Probably all you need is a well-functioning root and the right application to add functionality to this diode.
EX Kernel Manager can trigger the led to do things, I have root to it works. I've got it blinking on charge and solid when done.

I can also confirm this works through EX Kernel Manager on my Moto G6 Play XT1922-7 Boost Mobile variant, I'm using the "Battery charging blink full solid full" option in the app, this is pretty neat lol! :good:
Edit: The LED is to the left of the camera on my G6 Play
Can also confirm using ex kernel manager with xt1922-7 boost variant that it does allow the led to work with charging. As well as a few other options lol just which we could choose more than one led option. Would be nice to have it for charging AND notifications lol
Maybe contacting the dev or if someone knows how that works can build an app to control it?
After installing root on my moto g6, I launched this application:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=br.com.itsmeton.motoledenabler&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cyb.satheesh.lednotify
The diode works!
We need someone who will do a more polished application for our phones.

Hi! I recently rooted my G6 Plus in order to use this charging LED. My goal is to make it blink softly when a notification arrives. I tried using Tasker according to this guide, but it didn't really work: I got it to ascend the brightness level, but it won't descend at all, even when running the second while-loop separately. After this, I can't even manage to change the brightness level until reboot. Strangely though, the script works as intended when run from adb shell. I started using "echo 1 > /sys/class/leds/charging/blink" when a notification arrives and 0 when the screen is unlocked. However, this is not ideal since the default blink is not very soft and the maximum brightness is too high. How could I make the bash script work properly in Tasker?
@pake10
You will not change the brightness or color of this diode (it's one color) so do not get tired. It's a waste of your time.
@kemoti
Thanks for answering — however, I did manage to change the brightness and make it "blink" with the script. The color can't be changed and that's okay. It seems that my problem is with Tasker since it works fine from adb Shell.
EDIT: I got it working by creating my own application, for some reason Tasker and other similar applications didn't execute the bash script properly.
hahah motorola has been putting this led on every phone i eventually had bought. the first moto g had it for notifications but g4 plus and g6 play have is as a sign of life
I got the diode working via the Resurrection Kernel when my phone is charging, but the diode is so small that you can't even see that there's anything going on. The capability is still a nice touch though.

Question Led notification light

Howdy!
I am trying to set that when I receive a message, it will show a small notification light on the mobile, like I used to have on previous android, but cannot find any option for it...
Is it possible that a so modern phone does not have it?
Thanks

There's physically no led notification light anywhere on the phone that could light up.
You can search for apps on the Play Store that sort of try to imitate having one, but afaik none of them work reliably anymore.

"lackness"
I'm fairly sure that it's been dropped industry-wise for many many years now, much like the 3.5mm jack.
Ambient/Always-on-Display is sort of a replacement for having a notification light though, might want to look deeper into configuring it. I think there's also 3rd party apps that let you configure your AOD even further.

I initially deactivated the AOD for reducing distractions, but I can activate it again if this is only way to see notification without pushing power button to activate screen again

Don't get me wrong, I used to be an absolute sucker for an led notification light.
Keep in mind that AOD and Ambient Display aren't the same. AOD, as the name suggests, keeps the screen always on, whereas Ambient Display just wakes the screen whenever you receive a notification. I only have the latter turned on.

There are actually several phones out that also don't have big bezels but there's a tiny notification led hidden behind/next to the earpiece. Common sense.
