Overwhelming Battery Life!! - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, looking at the title you would know this is about my Phone's amazing Battery Life.
But NO, it's not my S6, but my Mom's Phone that has put my S6 and every other phone in my household to shame. My mom spends most of her time on youtube, streaming old songs and watching old music videos. She got this phone after my brother used it for 3 years, which I gave him after using it myself for 2 years. It's safe to say that my Mom's phone is now 5 YEARS OLD!!. I often heard my mom bragging about her phone's battery when I walk around with a Powerbank in my Pocket. So I told her not to plug-in her phone for the next 12 hours.and use it as usual. 15 minutes back, she asked me to plug her phone. That's when I remembered what I told her and I realized it's been more than 2 DAYS!!. I just took a few screenshots that speak for themselves. I wonder how long the phone would last if I turn ON the CPU Power Saving Mode. I must say, I am overwhelmed & shocked.

You're right, the screenshots do speak for themselves: they show that it's hardly ever used.
They also show high power loss whenever WiFi is actually on, and a steady decline when it's sleeping.
It seems to have been used like... what, 10% of the total time? Less? With that same usage, an S6 would last much longer.

Lolz...anytime I see her, she's on youtube and I am certain those 5 hours were spent well on youtube. S6 cannot and will never stand a chance when similarly used. You can watch youtube for 5 hours straight on a 5Ghz Wifi, but then your battery will NEVER LAST more than 12-14 hours. I know that hurts but lets embrace the fact! May be you can shed some light on how to make our battery last longer?

I still use my S6 and sad as I want to admit it, the batter is not as great. I don't use much of it for Youtube, but I have about more than an hour of video filming of it for a fully charged phone.

Regardless of age you can get a "lemon" battery.
Go into your settings, then connection, and make sure "beam" is NOT checked. This drains battery.
If you set up email then this could also drain your battery if your connection is always on. If your internet connection is on it drains the battery pretty fast. My 8525 will only last near a day, not a full day, because I have push mail setup.
There are many extended batteries for sale on the net and some promise as much as 12 hours or use. I'd recommend moving to one of those!
Also, how did your phone work fine in europe? As soon as I landed in London I realised ATT doesn't exist there and I had to get a prepaid card from Orange. Luckily I had unlocked my phone before hand.
it cant be my battery i switched the battery with my friend and the battery still got eatin up....
checked my beam and its not checked on....
i soon as i landed in poland (krakow) me and my buddy have the same phone he put his on and i put my on and we were like we are connected to orange this is grear so it worked right away....u dont wanna know how much my bill was but it was alot of money.....my buddy almost paid 1000...roming calls killed him and when he got drunk he talked to ppl for hours from the us , that wasnt to smart by him lol
hey guys just wanted to let u know that the phone is back to normal since yest...........i have no idea why it was accting up like that but its holding the battery just like it did before ..........

Battery getting destroyed lately... ideas?

Nothing coming up on BBS. That drop was when I was sleeping. Looks like a 25% drop in the span of minutes. Same thing happened today. Went from fully charged to 90% to 59% in an hour or so of no use. And from the looks of battery usage, it was pretty much just Wifi, Network and screen. Nothing else.
Not sure what is going on really.
something is holding a wakelock during that time, at least that's what I gathered from the picture.

Oddly, the highest wakelock was 5minutes. Didn't have any severe wakelocks. Not sure what exactly would cause a 25-30% drop.
Whole thread on this that I have been apart of. The OP actually has two issues but his second one if this issue and the one that is mostly covered in the thread. Only happens at night. Can't figure out what is causing it. I let AT&T know but they haven't gotten back to me. HTC tried to blame it on facebook. Seems like a handful of people are noticing it. Most wouldn't because they charge their phone at night.

Went through the thread, seems similar but less extreme drop for me. I'm in Queens, NY.
Today my phone is fine... And Friday I had close to 24 hours on battery with around 3 hours screen time and 35% left.
The drop last night was from using the phone, not idle.

[REVIEW] ZeroLemon Samsung Note 9 5000MAH Slim Juicer Battery Case

Hello Everyone,
Since Zerolemon came out with the 7500 mAh V30 battery case, I've been a believer in...second chances, and new products are my thing. So, I bought a Note 9 512 Gb for the business, and decided to try this sample battery out.
As it turns out, this battery is good. It executes 1.25 charges on average, but I could never really ring out every last drop. The stats speak for themselves.
Day one:
I was on my phone's battery for just short of 15 hours, and 54 minutes on the first day of reviewing, and I admit, I only listen to music and check my servers from this phone. SSH, maybe a little VNC, and mostly Tidal. There's the first 44% down.
Day two:
Just to make it even, I thought another 44% should do for usage, and practically do the exact same thing going to the client, and check the servers, maybe change the playlist, but not much else changed with my usage other than the time screen on. This took a little longer. 23 hours and 41 minutes.
Day three:
Hectic day at the office, and now the poor girl gets her 85% down from just rocking her world. Almost identical, but now it's cumulative in a sense.
In sum:
Bogging down the battery in spurts made the Note 9 last longer, but total gain was three hours by doing it that way. Main drain was continuous, and that lasts much less time. Draining the Note 9, and the battery case, then my Note 9 again took about 75 hours and 15 minutes, give or take.

The verdict:
This thing saves your ass in a long trip, like a Greyhound from Phoenix to say, Seattle, but who's taking the hound anymore, besides me?
This would be righteous if you were out in the wilderness, too, and you didn't want to use the power saver feature which would extend the life quite a bit more. I'm shooting for the power user, not the camping type, but I will test using those parameters if someone wants me to. Just holler back.
I mean, who's to say that we couldn't squeeze out about 300 hours in that mode? I get power outages here in Phoenix every time it rains hard. I don't like when I'm not entertained in the dark.
Zerolemon, you guys put out a pretty awesome case.
I wanna try this 10,000 mAh battery next.
Thank you for the sharing! We'd be appreciated for any concern you have on this battery in future.

Battery taking a turn for the worse?

When I first got my Note 20 Ultra (Aug of last year) the battery was amazing. Now within the last 2 months is horrible. My phone shows a full charge will last 11 hours and 51m. Just today I was out and about, unplugged at 11am est and by 4pm I was at 41%.
Not sure what has changed. Though Facebook is showing around 10-20% battery usage over the last 7 days which is odd since I'm not using it that much.
Ditch FB* and any social media that's loaded as an app... crapware.
Clear system cache.
Disable all power management.
Now see what's using the battery and if it's appropriate. Go from there.
Install Accubattery to track battery use history.
A well optimized Note should about 7-14%@hr SOT, less than 1%@hr with AOD in tap on mode at night.
After doing all this reevaluate if it's a weak battery or just excessive power usage.
*yeah I know you can't send any FB messages if the app isn't installed... ditch this malware. It's malware by design not coincidence. FB is a menace... learn or get burned.
This is my N10+, the N20U may use slightly more due to variable refresh rate and 5G but should be similar.

I figure a on heavily used Note that's fast charged the battery will last 1-2 years.
My last N10+ battery failed around the 1.5 year mark. I'll probably replace now at 1 year intervals.

Question How hot does the phone get?

On my current phone I've got good battery life through keeping the phone cool. I've head that the Pixel 7 Pro could get hot easily.
How hot does the phone get during normal operations like:
Lots of browsing
Android Auto
Charging
Camera use
Hot, just not as hot as a Pixel 6 Pro.
Not hot at all
This will help i suspect.

Always cool except one time when the youtube app that I I forgot to disable went all crazy. Disabled it (like most apps that came with the p7p) and all is good ever since with outstanding battery life.
Mine was a steady 40c yesterday using mobile data whilst travelling (which i would consider hot), sat here doing nowt it is 26.5c.

This is the answer. ^
If you're not on mobile data, it's generally going to be cool unless you're gaming, but LTE and especially 5G will warm it up very quickly due to the inefficient modem.
It depends on many factors. But it tends to get hot even under "subtle" usage while on Mobile Data. In my case, anywhere between 38-44C on the battery (ambient 21-23c). Skin temperature is higher, always higher by a few celsius degrees compared to battery temp.
And of course we need to take in to account where you are and how hot the ambient temperature is, last summer when we were hitting over 40C in the UK my Pixel 6 Pro was giving overheat warnings even when it was idling. That heat was very unusual for the UK but absolutely normal for some counties for months and months.
Obviously the P7P wasn't out then but it definitely runs cooler than phones with the original Tensor.

Sounds about the same for me, about 70-80F ambient 21c-26c ish, goes up to about 100F or so. Its especially noticeable during data/wifi and charging. Temp goes down after battery is maxed out though.
P7P heats up during normal usage and heats up more with 5G.
With game on, after 15 mins it's too hot. Need rest for 15-20 mins for next usage.
With 1080 resolution battery life is bit better compared to 1440.
