Question How hot does the phone get? - Google Pixel 7 Pro

On my current phone I've got good battery life through keeping the phone cool. I've head that the Pixel 7 Pro could get hot easily.
How hot does the phone get during normal operations like:
Lots of browsing
Android Auto
Charging
Camera use

Hot, just not as hot as a Pixel 6 Pro.

Not hot at all

This will help i suspect.

Always cool except one time when the youtube app that I I forgot to disable went all crazy. Disabled it (like most apps that came with the p7p) and all is good ever since with outstanding battery life.

Mine was a steady 40c yesterday using mobile data whilst travelling (which i would consider hot), sat here doing nowt it is 26.5c.

This is the answer. ^
If you're not on mobile data, it's generally going to be cool unless you're gaming, but LTE and especially 5G will warm it up very quickly due to the inefficient modem.

It depends on many factors. But it tends to get hot even under "subtle" usage while on Mobile Data. In my case, anywhere between 38-44C on the battery (ambient 21-23c). Skin temperature is higher, always higher by a few celsius degrees compared to battery temp.

And of course we need to take in to account where you are and how hot the ambient temperature is, last summer when we were hitting over 40C in the UK my Pixel 6 Pro was giving overheat warnings even when it was idling. That heat was very unusual for the UK but absolutely normal for some counties for months and months.
Obviously the P7P wasn't out then but it definitely runs cooler than phones with the original Tensor.

Sounds about the same for me, about 70-80F ambient 21c-26c ish, goes up to about 100F or so. Its especially noticeable during data/wifi and charging. Temp goes down after battery is maxed out though.

P7P heats up during normal usage and heats up more with 5G.
With game on, after 15 mins it's too hot. Need rest for 15-20 mins for next usage.
With 1080 resolution battery life is bit better compared to 1440.

[Q] OPO overheating, need help

Right so I've been playing with my phone that I've had for a while, but never seriously until this past week... and that's when I started noticing that it overheats. Pretty badly.
For example, I was playing Dead Ahead, a game that I didn't think was too intensive since my ipod touch 4g can play the game without any issues aside from some lag. All of a sudden after like, 20 minutes of play time, the damn phone starts getting so warm that I can feel it through the protective screen I put on my phone's front. After running a temperature check, it was near 40 degrees C inside there.
The weird thing is that it seems to take forever for it to cool. An hour after the above incident, the cpu was still clocking in at around 35 c, After I read a Cleaner(esque) App to kill all the running apps to try to prevent any more issues.
So I guess the question is, what's wrong here? I saw on the forums that the phone has a tendency to overheat a bit, but this type of overheating is ridiculous. I'm using the official OP flip case if that makes any difference. If y'all need stats and stuff just tell me how to post it/what you need and I'll gladly provide it. It's a shame cause I like this phone, I'd hate to have to dump it over an issue like this.
40°C is nothing to worry about, these phones can get way higher than that without any real serious consequences. I'm pretty sure I've seen mine over 60°C. Just sitting here typing this message on Tapatalk has me device at this temp:

So don't stress, and remember games are very CPU and battery intensive, so it's natural for it to heat up a bit. And really, 40° on any Android device is actually a pretty low to mid temperature. So it isn't overheating, if it was overheating it would shut down due to the thermal shutoff. It's just heating up, and not very much.

Really? My ipad 2 and ipod touch (yeah I'm migrating) never had issues playing the same game with overheating...
but if what you say is true then I guess it's ok, but it was still getting warm enough that it was getting a bit hot to hold...
More importantly I think there's still a battery draining app on the phone since it woke up dead this morning after leaving it unplugged at night so I think that may be the issue... at least I hope it is. Now I need to go back and uninstall everything up until this issue first presented itself.
Oh I'm running the OTA cyanogenmod if you're curious, thanks for the reply.

Always on Screen

Samsung claims it uses less than 1% per hour. do you guys believe this? do you think this feature will be as light on the battery as Samsung claims?
I was thinking about it...in a 12 hour day...this could be as much as around 12%. which is about how much we probably gain with the larger battery compared to the S6. hopefully with Marshmallow keeping rogue apps closed we will see an improvement in overall battery life over the S6.
what do you think?
if its too much of a drain there is still a LED light you can use for notifications. this is most likely what ill be using...
Doesn't appeal to me. Will be turning it off and using led as usual.
I guess once the phone is out there will be some tests to know if its true ^^
You can shut it off in the quick menu if your worried about battery. That or flip it over

Are you sure samsung said that? I know lg said that but their panel is ips, i wouldn't expect some text on an amoled to take that much battery, think i saw somewhere today where they said it takes 3-4% of total screen power usage, meaning if the panel takes 500mA per hour the always on screen will take 15-20mA per hour.
Heres a in depth screen review from displaymate posted on the S7 edge forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3321619
Another question is, is it more efficient to have the always on display vs periodically turning the entire screen on? Even with the notification LED I still do this from time to time.
can we port this feature to s6 edge ?? samsung may not release it officially bt can devs port this feature ?
will it be like moto x display? just turn it on only when you get some notification, lift the phone or take it out of the pocket? or just always on when the display is not covered??
Another thing is it turns off automatically in your pocket. So unless your phone is out all day and just sitting out on your desk or something i don't think the drain will be that bad.
I am more worried of the "burn-in" it could cause than battery drainage, as such, I will disable it for sure.

I asked the guy @ Best Buy at the Samsung area. He said he never heard of screen burn in. Lol, I picked up his s6 display and showed him. All the floor models have it!

it moves around. so no issue
I would have thought it moved about a bit? The AOS bit so pixels didn't get worn at different rates

yeah there's no burn in issue. seems like every minute it moves.

Terrible Battery Life on Comparison to Others. Suggestions?.

WTF is going on with my battery? I have the S7 Flat snapdragon version (G930v) running the G930u software unrooted which removes all carrier bloat. Screen brightness is set to a little past half way. I have all setting provided by stock software optimized for maximum battery life other than running AOD. I am running a black Wallpaper/Lockscreen/ and an All black theme from the Theme Engine.. Wth hell is going on here. My battery time is looking Rediculous in comparison. Someone help me out here.

I feel asleep around 3am I guess with 89% and woke up just now close to 11. Heres battery over that 8hr period. 5% during that time. Standby drain is not bad it seems. But only 10hrs on 100% is crazy low compared to what some of you guys are getting.

What can I do to get this increased.?

Is the same problem present with the phones original firmware? What you call bloat may very well be needed adaptions.
Urs is mutch better the what i get, mine drains 40% over night ..

Overwhelming Battery Life!!

So, looking at the title you would know this is about my Phone's amazing Battery Life.
But NO, it's not my S6, but my Mom's Phone that has put my S6 and every other phone in my household to shame. My mom spends most of her time on youtube, streaming old songs and watching old music videos. She got this phone after my brother used it for 3 years, which I gave him after using it myself for 2 years. It's safe to say that my Mom's phone is now 5 YEARS OLD!!. I often heard my mom bragging about her phone's battery when I walk around with a Powerbank in my Pocket. So I told her not to plug-in her phone for the next 12 hours.and use it as usual. 15 minutes back, she asked me to plug her phone. That's when I remembered what I told her and I realized it's been more than 2 DAYS!!. I just took a few screenshots that speak for themselves. I wonder how long the phone would last if I turn ON the CPU Power Saving Mode. I must say, I am overwhelmed & shocked.
This is a 2013 phone with a 2100mah battery; Xolo Q800 (a small Indian smartphone manufacturer)

You're right, the screenshots do speak for themselves: they show that it's hardly ever used.
They also show high power loss whenever WiFi is actually on, and a steady decline when it's sleeping.
It seems to have been used like... what, 10% of the total time? Less? With that same usage, an S6 would last much longer.

Lolz...anytime I see her, she's on youtube and I am certain those 5 hours were spent well on youtube. S6 cannot and will never stand a chance when similarly used. You can watch youtube for 5 hours straight on a 5Ghz Wifi, but then your battery will NEVER LAST more than 12-14 hours. I know that hurts but lets embrace the fact! May be you can shed some light on how to make our battery last longer?
I still use my S6 and sad as I want to admit it, the batter is not as great. I don't use much of it for Youtube, but I have about more than an hour of video filming of it for a fully charged phone.

[REVIEW] ZeroLemon Samsung Note 9 5000MAH Slim Juicer Battery Case

Hello Everyone,
Since Zerolemon came out with the 7500 mAh V30 battery case, I've been a believer in...second chances, and new products are my thing. So, I bought a Note 9 512 Gb for the business, and decided to try this sample battery out.
As it turns out, this battery is good. It executes 1.25 charges on average, but I could never really ring out every last drop. The stats speak for themselves.
Day one:
I was on my phone's battery for just short of 15 hours, and 54 minutes on the first day of reviewing, and I admit, I only listen to music and check my servers from this phone. SSH, maybe a little VNC, and mostly Tidal. There's the first 44% down.
Day two:
Just to make it even, I thought another 44% should do for usage, and practically do the exact same thing going to the client, and check the servers, maybe change the playlist, but not much else changed with my usage other than the time screen on. This took a little longer. 23 hours and 41 minutes.
Day three:
Hectic day at the office, and now the poor girl gets her 85% down from just rocking her world. Almost identical, but now it's cumulative in a sense.
In sum:
Bogging down the battery in spurts made the Note 9 last longer, but total gain was three hours by doing it that way. Main drain was continuous, and that lasts much less time. Draining the Note 9, and the battery case, then my Note 9 again took about 75 hours and 15 minutes, give or take.

The verdict:
This thing saves your ass in a long trip, like a Greyhound from Phoenix to say, Seattle, but who's taking the hound anymore, besides me?
This would be righteous if you were out in the wilderness, too, and you didn't want to use the power saver feature which would extend the life quite a bit more. I'm shooting for the power user, not the camping type, but I will test using those parameters if someone wants me to. Just holler back.
I mean, who's to say that we couldn't squeeze out about 300 hours in that mode? I get power outages here in Phoenix every time it rains hard. I don't like when I'm not entertained in the dark.
Zerolemon, you guys put out a pretty awesome case.
I wanna try this 10,000 mAh battery next.
Thank you for the sharing! We'd be appreciated for any concern you have on this battery in future.
