Battery getting destroyed lately... ideas? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Starting last night, my battery is getting destroyed when the phone is not in use. I haven't installed anything new, apps included. Running Cleanrom 4.5 DE.

Nothing coming up on BBS. That drop was when I was sleeping. Looks like a 25% drop in the span of minutes. Same thing happened today. Went from fully charged to 90% to 59% in an hour or so of no use. And from the looks of battery usage, it was pretty much just Wifi, Network and screen. Nothing else.
Not sure what is going on really.

something is holding a wakelock during that time, at least that's what I gathered from the picture.

Oddly, the highest wakelock was 5minutes. Didn't have any severe wakelocks. Not sure what exactly would cause a 25-30% drop.

Whole thread on this that I have been apart of. The OP actually has two issues but his second one if this issue and the one that is mostly covered in the thread. Only happens at night. Can't figure out what is causing it. I let AT&T know but they haven't gotten back to me. HTC tried to blame it on facebook. Seems like a handful of people are noticing it. Most wouldn't because they charge their phone at night.

Went through the thread, seems similar but less extreme drop for me. I'm in Queens, NY.
Today my phone is fine... And Friday I had close to 24 hours on battery with around 3 hours screen time and 35% left.
The drop last night was from using the phone, not idle.

Your battery might be lying to you

Okay...?
The majority of the people here have rooted.
It won't help. I have deleted the batterystats on mine phone more than 20 times in the last 3 days and there is no change nor hope!
Let me rephrase by saying your ROOTED phones battery stats might be lying to you.
And for the guy who tried it three times and failed. I don't think you took the time for fully discharging the phone. That's right I'm calling BS.
Anyway got to go my battery just dropped 30%
Just wanted to let you guys know that this is completely true in my case. The other night around 2am I went to sleep with the battery around 68%. When I woke up 4hours later for work my phone was turned off. I then plugged it in and my battery was at 0%.
I was on the perfect storm Rom. I then switched to das bamf. Still happens. Tried bump charging and 0-100 charging and its helped but when I reboot the phone the battery shows about 7% less then where it was.

I think that is thy the stock battery icons don't show an exact %, b/c they haven't been able to make it work right. Don't worry though i believe that the devs will get it before HTC.
Ok my battery was just now at 50%. I restarted and now showing 41%. I don't know what's going on.

As I said, you can charge and discharge all day long, it won't help!
Thank you for reposting this. So sick and tired of people complaining about dropping 10% in a few minutes after a full charge.

I think this is a glitch. It drops like crazy after restart but then stays there until it "catches up" I guess.

So far,I have only rooted my phone, not a custom rom. I either have a crappy battery life, which seems better when I shut 4g down, or there is a glitch on the metering. My .02 worth.

[Q] Abnormal (?) battery life

I'm using Cyanogenmod 11 M5 on a D820 32GB. Lately I've noticed that idle battery life is not as it should be; I got frustrated enough last night that I wiped everything and left it sitting. Battery started at 82% and dropped to 63% with about 15min of SOT::

This doesn't feel right; as I recall from when the phone was new (and as I have seen others talking about), standby time is supposed to be great. Is this normal?
I'm flashing stock right now; I'll see if that helps.

Show us some BBS logs. Most likely CM issue though. More precisely, the CM kernel. But without BBS, it's just speculation.

Okay. I'll try this with stock Android and see what happens. If it's not better, I'll post BBS logs for it too.
I also think it's CM's fault, and if this happens with stock as well, you may have a faulty battery.
I usually get 1 hour SOT/20%, give or take 10 minutes.
I can get this with my usage patterns, obviously this is going to change (for better or worse) depending on how you use and configure your phone.

At any rate, after totally paving my device the drain seems to be better on M5. Not sure what the issue is/was.

[Q] OPO overheating, need help

Right so I've been playing with my phone that I've had for a while, but never seriously until this past week... and that's when I started noticing that it overheats. Pretty badly.
For example, I was playing Dead Ahead, a game that I didn't think was too intensive since my ipod touch 4g can play the game without any issues aside from some lag. All of a sudden after like, 20 minutes of play time, the damn phone starts getting so warm that I can feel it through the protective screen I put on my phone's front. After running a temperature check, it was near 40 degrees C inside there.
The weird thing is that it seems to take forever for it to cool. An hour after the above incident, the cpu was still clocking in at around 35 c, After I read a Cleaner(esque) App to kill all the running apps to try to prevent any more issues.
So I guess the question is, what's wrong here? I saw on the forums that the phone has a tendency to overheat a bit, but this type of overheating is ridiculous. I'm using the official OP flip case if that makes any difference. If y'all need stats and stuff just tell me how to post it/what you need and I'll gladly provide it. It's a shame cause I like this phone, I'd hate to have to dump it over an issue like this.
40°C is nothing to worry about, these phones can get way higher than that without any real serious consequences. I'm pretty sure I've seen mine over 60°C. Just sitting here typing this message on Tapatalk has me device at this temp:

So don't stress, and remember games are very CPU and battery intensive, so it's natural for it to heat up a bit. And really, 40° on any Android device is actually a pretty low to mid temperature. So it isn't overheating, if it was overheating it would shut down due to the thermal shutoff. It's just heating up, and not very much.

Really? My ipad 2 and ipod touch (yeah I'm migrating) never had issues playing the same game with overheating...
but if what you say is true then I guess it's ok, but it was still getting warm enough that it was getting a bit hot to hold...
More importantly I think there's still a battery draining app on the phone since it woke up dead this morning after leaving it unplugged at night so I think that may be the issue... at least I hope it is. Now I need to go back and uninstall everything up until this issue first presented itself.
Oh I'm running the OTA cyanogenmod if you're curious, thanks for the reply.

Battery taking a turn for the worse?

When I first got my Note 20 Ultra (Aug of last year) the battery was amazing. Now within the last 2 months is horrible. My phone shows a full charge will last 11 hours and 51m. Just today I was out and about, unplugged at 11am est and by 4pm I was at 41%.
Not sure what has changed. Though Facebook is showing around 10-20% battery usage over the last 7 days which is odd since I'm not using it that much.
Ditch FB* and any social media that's loaded as an app... crapware.
Clear system cache.
Disable all power management.
Now see what's using the battery and if it's appropriate. Go from there.
Install Accubattery to track battery use history.
A well optimized Note should about 7-14%@hr SOT, less than 1%@hr with AOD in tap on mode at night.
After doing all this reevaluate if it's a weak battery or just excessive power usage.
*yeah I know you can't send any FB messages if the app isn't installed... ditch this malware. It's malware by design not coincidence. FB is a menace... learn or get burned.
This is my N10+, the N20U may use slightly more due to variable refresh rate and 5G but should be similar.

I figure a on heavily used Note that's fast charged the battery will last 1-2 years.
My last N10+ battery failed around the 1.5 year mark. I'll probably replace now at 1 year intervals.

Question Battery Life

I am interested in this battery performance? What SOT are you getting? What do you get for battery time the medium power saver mode?
Any screen shots are appreciated.
It's on Friday and I feel like the first 48 hours it was draining pretty quick. I upgraded from the OnePlus 6t and I certainly feel the slower charge.
Waiting for it to fully discharge and then I'm going to give it a full charge and then I will post my battery stats after seeing how long it lasts.
Full charge before bed last night .. and I drove around a bit today with it plugged in for about 30 minutes. Going to bed now at around 50%. Not going to charge until tomorrow.

I am still trying to figure out if I have a battery drain issue. I am getting the same usage as what I did as my A70. After full charge it says it will last around 22 hours. Usage is the same as with my A70, not sure if that is right.

Standby uses about 1% for every two hours for me with Always On Display. That is always my benchmark even for my last Samsung. There's something using battery wildly if it goes too high after some many hours or even within one hour.
A hint there, try rebooting 3 times in an hour or so. My last Samsung had an issue where normally one reboot would fix the battery drain but it would every now and then require two more to fix the drain.
The battery use stats might help you narrow down to something but if not then you have to factory reset or disable or remove stuff. If its with the rom then it gets more difficult.
If you are seeing the 1% standby for even an hour or two then it should be fine there and the drain is only while the screen is on.
You might also be able to spot certain things the the logcat.
Thank you for your reply. I will try to reboot it. I have done a factory reset but it hasn't helped. I will test it for a few days.
I have 9hours Screen On Time on a pixel experience rom.
AOSP does wonders to this device.

You never know. Funny how much reboots fix things that shouldn't need fixing in the first place
