I didnt say it was in your post - I said it was at the web site you get when you click the link that you put in your post - click the link - go the site you linked to - navigate thru the site and you will see they offer a rootable option for the S7 - If you had looked thru the site before you posted the question you might have discovered what a farce this was in the first place. It is under the FAQ Link -
Well I had hope anyway. ..lol

One Click has been around for a long time, But they are limited on devices they can actually root.......... This Program does not have Note 5 included in their rooting archive ......... So No,
They cannot root the Note 5 ..... I know I tried it .... but it does not stop them from advertising they can
FYI
Guys I posted in the S6 edge plus Q&A section that my S6 edge plus has the device OEM unlock option like the nexus 6 when you enable developer mode, so maybe the note 5 does too, I have a nexus 6 and oem unlock had to be enabled to unlock the bootloader to root safely, so check and see if you have it under developer mode and if so maybe all we have to do is wait for root.....oh yeah as usual don't accept any software updates until we know patients pays off!.

So it looks like chainfire has developed a root for the Snapdragon variants of the s8 using CF Auto root. Still no unlocked bootloader or TWRP but it's a start.

The EngBoot.img will be released within the next couple days. That means that root will come soon after that.
Delete this thread. People have already talked about this so much. Those files were released by a bot that generates it for any device. We don't have an unlocked bootloader, flashing this will fail. You're essentially baiting people and wasting their time.

Root DOES exist on the S8 Plus CAN and US variants
I just went on Chainfire's website and the root DOES exist.
Just do CTRL + F or Command +F for Macs and type in the Model Number. In my case it was the G955W. So yes the OP is right and yes there is a root out for all S8 Plus devices for Snapdragon variants.
And no this is not a bot that generates it, this is the real thing.
:fingers-crossed:

Hello,
I'm writing today to get more informations (if anyone know, obviously) about the actual bootloader status.
I just bought a Huawei P20. It's a good device, before wanting to root it.
As you know, the bootloader 16-digits number is no more acquirable thanks to our deer and beloved Huawei company, this means that you can't root your device since may, and not only the P20, also other huawei and other devices. :victory:
I think this decision is really anoying : I buyed an android device to be the master of my device, if I did not want, I would have bought an apple device... But it's like they can't assume Android...
That's why I write, to ask, first, if the bootloader unlock is definitely dead, or is there hope ?
If Huawei don't get the bootloader back, do you think someone of the community can release a way to root the device ?
I almost want to refund the phone because of this...
Thanks
DC Unlocker still offers codes. It'll cost a few bucks, though.

Sorry, I'm an occasional Android user. Followed another guide from 2018 on how to unlock these phones bootloader's, but I guess the capability was lost after updates?
I just want a hack to bypass carrier detection for purposes of occasional hotspot use.

Pixel 2. Sorry if I didn't indicate that, this is the pixel 2 forum. I'm just running stock Android pie, the build number is in the thread title.
Cricket
If you got it from cricket I'm assuming you have a carrier locked bootloader variant... And if that's the case your window of opportunity has been closed off due to updates like you originally thought..
Sorry bud
Edit: forgot about "fastboot oem readcid” try that and see what it tells you. Unlocked bootloader ends in 1 iirc

There's a reason I ask, PQ2A.190405.003 is for crosshatch [Pixel 3 XL, so double check you're actually on PQ2A.190405.003]. Moreover, most -if not all, american Pixels are locked down. We got lucky once at launch but after that it's either buy foreign or get an RMA. Sorry man.

Hope we dont get penalized for being early adopters (maybe like htc cid change?) Hardware should be the same right?
Stupid and probably unlikely to work but can we restore the UK backup? The hisuite has rom flashing in it natively also.... There's also an option internally to flash/upgrade

May have to go the funkyhuwaei route and try to rebrand. However I'm not sure it's possible with a locked bootloader.

This unit is a beta prototype for testing/developer and hence it is not locked. The actual commercial set will be locked.
This option is possibly shown due to prototype while I was exploring the phone. My apologies and hope that clarify
