Sorry, I'm an occasional Android user. Followed another guide from 2018 on how to unlock these phones bootloader's, but I guess the capability was lost after updates?
I just want a hack to bypass carrier detection for purposes of occasional hotspot use.

Pixel 2. Sorry if I didn't indicate that, this is the pixel 2 forum. I'm just running stock Android pie, the build number is in the thread title.
Cricket
If you got it from cricket I'm assuming you have a carrier locked bootloader variant... And if that's the case your window of opportunity has been closed off due to updates like you originally thought..
Sorry bud
Edit: forgot about "fastboot oem readcid” try that and see what it tells you. Unlocked bootloader ends in 1 iirc

There's a reason I ask, PQ2A.190405.003 is for crosshatch [Pixel 3 XL, so double check you're actually on PQ2A.190405.003]. Moreover, most -if not all, american Pixels are locked down. We got lucky once at launch but after that it's either buy foreign or get an RMA. Sorry man.

I'm on the same build. It's the cid you gotta check. It should even say under your build prop I believe. Under oem unlocking. Should be a 1 or 0

Hi.
I have seen the name of this version: xiaomi.eu_multi_MIMix_6.12.8_v8-6.0 in the Miui VN.
What difference with this rom: miui_MIMIX_6.12.8_7fe44b9fe3_6.0?
Who know please. Thanks

Hi Phuong
EU rom is developer Rom, has removed some Chinese application and add google apps.
Hi @vuhien. Thanks
But I want to know the source except miui.vn. The meaning the officially source, because I just have one link, that is Miui.vn only.
Thanks
Is this developer rom nougat based? or is it still MM?

Is your bootloader unlocked?
Did you sign into your Mi account on the phone?
Do you have Developer options turned on?
Yes to all three. I have got around the major problem of language by going all Google & Nova.
It started by my effort to tweek the system launcher to accept more rows & columns. This led to a home page instability, that finally forced me to flash a few of the key partitions by fastboot and then get an early rom version. I must have picked a ch-only.....
Has anyone installed 6.12.8? Is it not Nougat based??

My suggestion is to try both and see which one works for you since ROM experience can be different and we all have different expectations.
you don't have to have an unlocked bootloader to do this, right? I am on the Stable version and would like to install this...and I am looking at the instructions on the MIUI forums, and it says nothing about "unlocked bootloader' as a requirement...just wanna make sure that is right, before I flash.
thanks!

The first step says to go from Stable to Dev unlock it : http://en.miui.com/a-234.html (2 days and I am still waiting for my unlock)
I wonder if there is any way to go on the Dev rom and un-unlock (relock?) the bootloader to not have problems with Snapchat/Bank apps?!

Nope, definitely locked. If you go into dev options on the dev ROM it will tell you if your locked or not....

I have the same problem as the OP, AT&T told me that having the phone carrier unlocked did not make a difference. They also said I needed a warranty replacement, I called bull, so I reached out to Samsung, they told me to go to Best Buy to get them to push the update. I dont have the time to sit there for hours. So I come to you guys.
If what you say is true then I just need to be a bit more patient. Or should I just go to Best Buy and let them fiddle with my phone?

Hello,
I'm writing today to get more informations (if anyone know, obviously) about the actual bootloader status.
I just bought a Huawei P20. It's a good device, before wanting to root it.
As you know, the bootloader 16-digits number is no more acquirable thanks to our deer and beloved Huawei company, this means that you can't root your device since may, and not only the P20, also other huawei and other devices. :victory:
I think this decision is really anoying : I buyed an android device to be the master of my device, if I did not want, I would have bought an apple device... But it's like they can't assume Android...
That's why I write, to ask, first, if the bootloader unlock is definitely dead, or is there hope ?
If Huawei don't get the bootloader back, do you think someone of the community can release a way to root the device ?
I almost want to refund the phone because of this...
Thanks

Stupid and probably unlikely to work but can we restore the UK backup? The hisuite has rom flashing in it natively also.... There's also an option internally to flash/upgrade
