Thx a lot. Dunno why still no direct link for fastboot ROM on Official MIUI Website

These links are official from MIUI itself. They just posted it on there forum.

SIGH!!!!! Finally. I thought they were going to wait and release it as miui 10
Sent from my polaris using Tapatalk

Hmm, but those are the old 9.5.4.0 links with the same signature, they just made the fastboot link public. What about 9.5.18.0 i use that since day one and it's super fine.

no... only with unlocked bootloader...

better 280 hours than nothing

Actually, nothing would be better, because we would be able to unlock instantly

it's really funny that they just "released" it. i have my phone from HK it came preinstalled with this ROM. i personally find it buggy and full of bloatware

Is there any chance to install global rom without unlocking bootloader in the near future?
A global ROM makes no sense if you´re not able to install it!

Yes, there's a slight chance to be happening. But you can't predict when it will be and you can't be sure it will be possible to do it without unlocking the bootloader. So, you should do it. I've unlocked mine and will remain like this until MIUI 10.

can you lock your BL after installing this rom on China Purchased devices ?

No and according to my Chat with Xiaomi Support you will no longer be able to lock bootloader on Chinese Hardware that you flash with Global ROM. Otherwise you end up with a brick that boots into recovery with a red error saying you cannot boot this version of MIUI.
So if you have a Chinese hardware version your stuck until someone finds a solution to change the Model Version to global.

Using global rom, version 9.5.4.0
- wireless charger - around 950-1000 mA
- Original Xiaomi quick charger wall - 3220 mA
- Another brand quick charger wall - 3250 mA
Dunno why, but my wireless charger don't work with Xiaomi charger, but work fine with the other brand. Both chargers are QC 3.0.
Values measured with Ampere

Wow...no way, those values are very low...
Try a different wall charger, make sure it's QC 3.0. Original Xiaomi wall charger is QC 3.0.
A QC 3.0 wall charger should have 12 V and 1,25A, if i'm not mistaken....

QC3.0 charges much faster at lower battery levels and slower at higher battery levels. What I'm not sure about is if that is controlled by changing the current (Ampere) or the potential (Volt). So you should maybe compare Ampere readings at the same battery levels, like for example at 50%.

Mi4i features fast charging. Can you suggest a better charger than 5v-2a charger?
Apple iPhone charger shows up as a fast charger for me.
fast charging is supported but the charger in the box is a normal one. (5v2a)
can anyone try out with the proper fastcharge2.0? (9v1.2a)
Donnt have one...would definitely love to get the feedback from someone who tested it first hand!
how do you see it 'shows up' as a fast charger?
are there any indication?
Mi4i FAQ http://en.miui.com/thread-122548-1-1.html
50. Does my Mi4i have Quick Charge feature? If yes, then which version does it support?
A: The Mi4i has Quick Charge 1.0, which explains the slow charging rate some users have been complaining about. The Mi4i takes roughly 2 hours 30 minutes to fully charge for me

And FYI, http://www.gsmarena.com/charge_test-review-1239p2.php
Quick Charge 1.0 was introduced in 2012 and it made use of a 5V/2A charger, which could charge a phone up to 40% faster than conventional 5V, 1A chargers. That boost accounts for a 10W max charging power.

Thus the original 2A charger that comes with phone is the fastest charger supported.

Xiaomi Mi 4c Charging Analysis Part-2
I just bought Tronsmart TS-WC1Q and I must confirm almost the same results as with original Xiaomi charger for Mi4i. Charging current with Tronsmart charger is about 1,44A and voltage is stable about 5,2V. I'm not sure, if I can determine from these results, if its support QC 1.0 or 2.0. Next time I will try to measure the time from 0->40% of battery and compare original and Tronsmart charger. Anyway I think it matters also on the ROM/kernel you are currently using. I'm on RESURRECTION REMIX with Sensei kernel v1.3.2-dev kernel.
I m on cm13, it looks like qc2.0 is supported. I used a China charger (9v1.2a). It charged fully charged up from 0 to 100% in 1hr and 40 min.
i have tried
i have tried qualcomm's fast charging 2 it works well.
How fast is Mi 4i supposed to be? I've bought orico quick charger 2.0 and it does about 1.5 hr to be fully charged. Do I need to install something to make it faster?

Help regarding quick charger

So as we know that now our phone supports QC 2.0 on custom ROMs(yay! if you didn't know that)
Now I was searching around for a good charger and I found a good Aukey charger on Amazon IN for about 671 rs(10$)
But upon searching on aliexpress, I found this one. Its really cheap and the reviews are good as well, so any idea about it?
If this is good then I can save a lot of money as its just 4$

The Redmi Note 3 does not support USB 3.0 so literally any USB cable will do as long as it is safe. It is your decision which one to buy based on the build quality of the cable (as in how quickly it will break).

CM 13 official. 9V 1,2A on off phone.
Qualcomm takes extra bucks to enable the quick charge capability. Though SD 650 supports quick-charge but Xiaomi squeezed those extra bucks to cut off the price. Even its same with Moto G3 (osprey). Even if you use quick charger, it would charge in the same speed. (Also showed in Ranjit's video)
Use Mi4i Changer insteed of using any other charger,it will boost your charging speed.

Well, not everyone got Mi4i charger :/
I've got a Aukey quick charge 3 and when I used it the phone LED flashed all the time so I stopped using it just in case it's doing any damage to the battery. It does say that it's backwardly compatible with qc1 and qc2 I'm using blaze kernel.
How determine if mine have quickcharge or not on RN3? I have flash Resurrection Remix rom + ElementalX kernel and when I charge my phone from 15% to 100%, it take about 2hours 10minute. Does this count as quickcharge? Before flashing custom rom, in MIUI, when I charge my phone, I get about the same duration. Just wondering....

Although the Huawei P9 lite can receive two amps and 10 watts of power from a charger, Huawei includes only a one amp and five watt power supply with the P9 lite, which results in rather slow loading times.

This is what I keep seeing in the log: https://github.com/Meticulus/androi...rivers/power/hisi/coul/hisi_coul_core.c#L2634
What I am seeing and measuring is that mine, the 3GB dual sim model, max current draw is 1.08 Amp.
This is the max the device will charge at no matter what if you connect a quick charge ... even a nuclear powerplant that can provide a billion Amps at 5V as long as the kernel or charging circuit is like now. A bit painful but I find the battery life to be good. Good enough so it won't be a deal breaker.
I've had phones that died while using the GPS in the car and on a charger, this one doesn't if you use a quality charger and cable.

Is there any official QC 3 charger for Mi Max available in india ? or something from other mainstream phone manufacturers that could be used with Mi Max ?
I am using my old Galaxy Note 4 charging brick with the Mi Max cable included in the box and charging speed is great on both official MIUI ROM or Validus ROM, 2360 mAh
I've been using an Aukrey Qualcomm 3.0 Quick Charger with my mi max; charges it up from 2℅ to 100℅ within 25-30 minutes, which is quite impressive regarding the fact that it bears one of the largest batteries(4850mAh) in the smartphone market.
So, you should opt for this particular one........i guess?
I got Tronsmart and its working great, and it was listed in Qualcomm pdf.
I read about that quick charge 2.0 charges as fast as quick charge 3.0 , the difference is that QC 3.0 allows wider selection of voltages , so the main difference is not speed but compatibility . Does someone using QC 2.0 and what times do you get from 1-2% to 100% ? In my town there is only QC 2.0 on store and i dont want to order online and wait weeks

The charging current fluctuates while charging, so it might be low when you measured Android N's power draw in mi a1

Well, it isn't proved until someone gets the perfect readings, all when using a QC charger.

Indeed, still gsmarena is a reliable source, also XDA has a article regarding this without quoting gsmarena. Btw, for me current charge time of this device is also decent.

Do we know if the USB-C cable included with the phone is QC compatible? I have a QC charger that I can try to measure with tonight. The Choetech cables that I have are only 5V/2.4A compatible.

Try with a QC compatible cable from a friend or something... And I assume. You are already having the Oreo beta build?
Can I try to flash Oreo with the UpdateEngine magisk module or should I wait for official release?

I think it might be since it can handle the 5v 2amps charging with the original brick that came with the mobile. QC v2 just uses variable (5v/9v) voltage to quickly charge a mobile without needing to go higher than 2amps.
I watched a video on YouTube where that guy tried charging the phone with a quick charger but it didn't work...
It still took 2 odd hours to charge completely

Not on Oreo yet but we need a baseline using the same hardware setup for testing on Nougat before we can have any reliable data on Oreo to compare with.
I'll test with Nougat later, maybe consider going to next Oreo beta (whenever that is). Really don't want to move to Oreo until xPosed is ready though.
