just tried tethering my nexus s to my work desk top to be "off grid" but i'm having issues.
I cant for the life of me tether the NS to the computer (running windows xp -32bit).
i was able to do this fine on the n1, but no go on the nexus. the computer just doesn't recognize it.
I've down loaded the tetherxp.inf file, but when point the setupwizard to it, it can't find it.
wth??????
then i start doing to research and read that the NS tethering isn't supported by window xp?? just win7, win vista and linux???
is this true???
what have you guys been experiencing?

arg. just did that.
didn't help. oi!!!
still getting the "the hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software" pop up.
i'm giving up on this.
the tether function is "on" on the phone, but my comp doesn't recognize the connection in the network settings.
sucks as i'm trying this on a fresh XP os installed notebook. so i don't know what could be causing this... (yess all updates have been updated)...
slowz, you're able to tether with your NS to xp?

This definitely isn't working with Windows XP.
This worked fine with my Nexus One. I had to install tetherxp.inf for it to work.
With the Nexus S, I removed all devices, uninstalled the drivers and started from scratch. No go with either the tetherxp.inf file or the RAR file posted earlier in this thread.
I can't find any other documentation on the Net that shows that Nexus S can tether with Windows XP.
Has anyone gotten this to work?
try this...
go to the PDAnet website http://www.junefabrics.com/android/index.php download their software onto your computer(free), then follow the directions on the screen. it will install the latest drivers onto your computer. i had to do that with my work computer too.
Well, I did that and now I just have a copy of PDSNet on my machine
I still can't get XP to recognize my Nexus S. When I plug it in I still get the New Hardware box that asks to find software for USB Device.
What I did was to add entries to tetherxp.inf for Nexus S which matched the signatures in device manager after I connected my phone to xp and turned on usb tether. I then installed the driver from tetherxp.inf.
Bazinga.

Will this driver work with Windows 7?
Old post but hopefully someone out there is still looking... will the above driver work with Windows 7? Also, is this a first party driver from LG that I just haven't been able to find on their site? Oh, a minor (?) wrinkle here - my G5 is the Canadian model (LG-H831), carrier is Rogers.
The answer I'm hoping for, is "yes, that driver will work" (as opposed to "it should work")
Maybe I'm just being overly paranoid, but I'm generally leery installing drivers from anywhere other than the manufacturer. But the existing drivers are incredibly buggy on my PC - sometimes the phone shows as a drive, sometimes I can see the SD Card, sometimes I can enable USB debugging. But mostly, none of the above. Aarrgh!
Dear All,
I am facing an issue while trying to install the driver of the "Android ADB Interface" on Windows 10. The procedure of the installation is:
1- Install latest LG Drivers "LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.2.0".
2- From "Device Manager".
3- Click on "Action".
4- Add legacy hardware.
5- Next.
6- Click on "Advanced".
7- Choose "Android Phone".
8- Click on "Have Disk".
9- Click on "Browse".
10- Choose "android_winusb".
11- Choose "Android ADB Interface".
12- Then Next.
13- After that you will get this message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
So please may someone provide me the correct driver.
Thanks.

Do you have an updated link for this driver, per chance?
Hi folks. im currently unable to use adb in cmd, only fastboot. So if anyone can help me upgrade my usb drivers to use adb with my windows 10. My device is seen currently as Kedacom USB Device, Google, inc driver. Android Bootloader Interface is using Microsoft winusb.sys (driver), wdfinstaller01009.dll(control), winusbCoinstaller2.dll(control)which are Windows 7 (old) Those are the best Microsoft and Dell can provide.
I know theres h91810 (i) LG_UP.dll floating around but Tmo is anti-rollback. So H91810( j ) LG_UP.dll would be the goto file set (i hope) Btw, the (i) is corrupt anyways? File extracted had error showing for me while it was in the .zip
Either one of these will help me with progressing towards getting my device working

Hello, I have a big problem with installing MTK drivers on my laptop. I have Windows 10 64bit and Windows 7 32bit. I tried almost all drivers, but nothing work. When I connect my phone (Lenovo A536 or Alcatel One Touch), my laptop does not recognize it. Warning says: "USB Device Not Recognized".
Please do you have any tips how to fix it? Or if there is someone who can help me with that for example via TeamViewer I will be very happy.
Thank you in advance.
EDIT: Problem was with USB cable.

I understand what you are stating. I've been there.
Now you will need to look at it in a different way. You installed the drivers but, windows will still not recognize the device.
This now needs a different approach...
There's two items to look at:
1) The drivers are installing correctly for the device but, Windows may not be permitting them to work because the driver signature is not being permitted.
That's a common issue that requires you to manually stop Windows driver enforcement. This is something that i can't really effectively provide via forum texting.
2) The drivers are installed correctly but, Windows are not connecting the device with the driver.
This is also a common issue that requires you to go and manually select the drivers for the device. This is also something that i can't really effectively provide via forum texting.
I did a little searching and I do believe that one or more of the links may help provide the guidance you need.

It isn't that they bought a certain special cable, I'm assuming the cable they were using was faulty/broken and buying a new one solved the problem or they were using a 4 pin cable like those meant to be used with cameras to transfer data instead of a 5 pin cable like those meant to be used on android devices and buying a 5 pin cable solved their issue.

No, I mean a replacement cable like the charger cable that came with your device. The usual cable that is used on all android devices to charge battery and connect to PC, it should be a USB to microUSB cable.
