MediaPad X2 frezze when screen turns off (from time to time) - Huawei MediaPad X2

I bought mediapad x2 through aliexpress (it seems the model is 703L)
I received it with the custom soft 701L B006
I made an update by OTA to 702L B205.
The phone works fine except freezing after turning off the screen (and automatic reset).
Factory reset (with cache wipe) did not help,
also enable or disable the sleep mode of all apps.
The problem also appeared before the update to 702L
I can not connect this problem with anything (runing app, settings, behavior). It seems to me that the phone frezze more often when I'm walking with phone in my pocket in compare when phon is idle, eg on my desk.
Please help me

Mediapad X2 comes with 3 different model numbers, 701L, 702L, and 703L. Each of them has their own independent roms. You cannot switch between 3 models without proper process. You said you have a 703L, with a 701L B006 and now in 702L B205? There's too much confusion here. I suggest you to figure out what's the exact model of your Mediapad X2 first, and flash the proper rom accordingly. If you want to switch to a different model, there are a lot of tutorials here.

Latest stock ROM for GEM-702L

Picked up a 702L and realize the software on it is way outdated in comparison to the 703L. (703L has 5.1.1 on B112 vs 702L only having 5.0.1 on B006 )
1.) Any idea why the 702L is so far behind?
2.) What is the latest and greatest stock rom for the 702L?
3.) Is there any gurantee that the 702L will get 6.0 OTA like the 703L? (my 703L is currently on B205 beta)
4.) Is there a way to safely manipulate a 702L as 703L such that I can flash it with a 703L rom?
Thanx!

Ha, you made it here. Do you still have your Mate 8? You'll have to convert your 702L to a 703L. Then you'll be able to get updates. There is a thread or two on here on how to do it.

Just curious why so many tried to convert from 702L to 703Ljust to get the OS upgrade?
I am a newbie, please forgive my ignorance. My understanding is Android 5.0 is a lot better in the extended microSD memory management then the Android 5.1 where Google has restricted direct access & direct write to SD memory in the name of "security concern".
Please teach me as to what may be the benefit of upgrading to 5.1 or even 6.0?

Everyone did it to be able to get ANY updates as the 701L and 702L get the shaft when it comes to updates and the 703L gets them all.

I believe Google has messed up with 5.1 and even 6 because I read that these upgrades were a great step backward when it comes to "external" SD memory management. A lot of my favorite apps no longer work and data and files are all cramped into the internal memory. Neither can these apps be moved to the SD memory without crashing and locked up after launch. In fact in android 5.1 and 6 the "move to SD" function is no longer available.

Can someone please tell me why bother to upgrade to Android 6 (or even 5.1 if that matter)? From most of my reading, Android 5.1 and 6 no longer has direct access to SD card and thus rendering any extended memory useless. I suppose Google wants to make sure that devices with small internal memory (32GB or lower) will have to upgraded to have any much use.
I for one has cumulated over 100 GB (over400 hours of 30 minutes sessions) of professional lectures and teaching materials that are sitting in my external 128GB sd card of my Samsung Note 3 that I use regularly with Chrome cast. I found out the hard way that with a new android tablet with Android 5.1 I have no luck in using any of them.
There is a patch for 5.12.
This issue has been discussed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro.../request-mod-access-external-sd-card-t3353078
The app developer can implement a user prompt.
I have granted my apps this access.
Otherwise you cab move the staff to the ext-sd/Android/data folder where each app has its files

I tried the rom. I flashed my X2 to 703L so I can only fastboot flash this rom. No way to do a full dload.
Anyway, It works fine and smoothly for my X2, but my X2 is originally TW version and this is for TW X2, so it's supposed to working fine and smoothly.
I think hardware wise, there aren't any different in TW or other version of the Gem-702L version. Correct me if I'm wrong

Hey, wow I appreciate this very much.
I Converted from 702 to 703 will there be a way to go back to 702L?
If u make a stock debloatet, can u make one without huawei and google stuff as well??
A pure Rom without any supplementary Sniffing Data Stuff would be absolutely phantastic.
Nevertheless, If u d'ont, u do not, Hell on wheels, that's ok for me as well.

That would be extremely appreciated if you can do that. I'll try then to see if it converts my 702L with 703L rom back to its original form.
Huawei's TW stock rom is with gapps already, and less Huawei apps. It's basically for international use, only with a regional name.
It will take less trouble than doing a CN stock rom

It was downloading last night but Huawei's site is painfully show. When it said it was going to take 4 hours to download I just left the computer on and went to sleep.
So there's no one that have manually installed this Beta 6.0 on the original 702L ?,

A lot of Taiwanese users have upgraded. The feedback is nice. I don't know about other regions.
I couldn't try it because My X2 has been converted to 703L. It just won't let me get through the dloading.
======
By the way, I don't know if this is useful, but Huawei Taiwan actually provides a downgrade pack for 702L users to downgrade to 5.0 if they are not satisfied with android 6.0
Here's the download link:
http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=81363&version=323452&siteCode=tw
It's only 1x kbs, really tiny pack. It says that dload the downgrade pack first then do the full B005(5.0) dload.
Here's Huawei Taiwan download page if you want to download other versions of stock roms:
http://consumer.huawei.com/tw/tablets/support/downloads/mediapad-x2-tw.htm
Anyone who wants to try might go ahead.
I've already downloaded both package, but unsure about wether I should upgrade or not.
Just read on http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=629&t=4812210 , on that the phone is laggy for some and it runs "hot".
All gem702L runs version b006 as latest, while the Taiwan version only has b005 as their latest.
@iamhcg You write yesterday the downgrade script will also convert your 702to703device back to original 702.
Even if it goes hot, you would have enough time to be able to do the dload method to that B201 version.
Are there any advantages to use a version 201 instead 211? Only the strange thing with miracast. Maybe they bugged this after 201. Is there a difference if you go via this version here?

For what I see, the udate.app in downgrade pack contains some img files you can't flash through fastboot, such as crc.img curver.img, etc; those img files are for android 5.0 formaton.. It is a the first step of downgrading your device, then the full dload do the job.
The only thing is that the downgrade pack is for gem-702L. That's why I need to fastboot flash system img files of 702L to make it temporary go back to 702L, hence get the full process done.

The version No. in different regions are not equivalent. Huawei normally develops CN version first, then they make a few adjustment and roll out to different regions. So I'll say B201 TW is very close, if not equal, to B209 or B211.
For advantages, I do contact local Huawei guys, the response is: for regional roms, they make some adjustment to be more suited to the local environment, such as GPS tuning and some stuff. So now that gem-702L B201 is out, they suggest me to flash back.
Besides the official story, my personal experience is that B201 is more compatible to my gem-702l.
China is a huge but closed market. They setup their roms for local use (Hence, no Google services). But they put everything back to TW/International Roms. I think that's why miracast or other stuff runs well on my 702L in B201.
What I feel now:
1. no a lot of useless CN or Huawei apps.
2. complete gapps.
3. Miracast works.
4. Back to warranty of course.
5. stable.
It's basically just close to the user experience of B209 or B211 for 703L users. I am quite satisfied with it.
I think I'll stay in B201 unless the development gap between 702L and 703L becomes huge again, then I'll consider switch between models.
Now there's a safe way to get back, it wouldn't be a problem.
Thank you for this additional informations.
What do you think about the 701 users who had converted to 703 and want to downgrade for some reason.
Maybe someday Huawei could offer a 6.0 for 701 with fixed gps. I really saw an inaccuracy of 10-30 m on only gps using offroad usage and don't know if this is a consequence of my conversion to 703)
I think it could be possible
- flashing the four 702 img files,
and the universal cust b112,
Then it might be possible to use the downgrade script for 701 model, too.
Then I would install universal cust again and dload the B003 firmware for the 701.
Any comments about this idea?

Ok.. I've finally decide to update my Gem 702L to this Android 6.0, and so far this is my review of this update.
Everything run smooths.
There aren't as many shortcuts in the pulldown menu as before.
DPI changer is a nice thing, otherwise there aren't many changes.

**sorry I have to edit my own post a bit:**
I am not a developer so I don't even know what the uiversal cust does. You probably know more than I do.
I only know there are 2 quiteria:
1. you have to cheat the downgrade script that your device is a 702L for the downgrade to work.
2. You'll need a 701L-cust zip when you want to convert back to 701L
I don't know if unversal cust does the job. If yes, then there's no problem. If no, I rememeber ZeuseZ made a 701 cust file here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66824282&postcount=62
I think "Channel_ru.zip" is a 701 cust in Android 5.0 but I am not sure. Maybe you want to check with him.
Once you have the proper 701L flashable cust, I suggest you to follow my steps, first to make sure you can downgrade to android 5.0 as a 702L. The downgrade pack will check if your device is a 702L. If it's not, the downgrade/dload will stop.
Once the downgrading is done, it is easier from here.
You can simply extract img files from stock 701L, fastboot flash them, format internal storage, flash the 701l cust, then do the full dload thing. Then you should be back to 701L stock.
Yes I see. I doubted zeusez script would do the downgrade. Now we know that this is indeed only a partial of the process.
It just sets the system to a cust folder for region ru and offers that file.
I would need 'eu' for Europe.
I got that original eu file from a user with a untouched 701.
But it could be sufficient to set the model number and temporary to ru, so that dload for the B003 for 701 EU would work on the next step.
I will not test that personally until HW would offer a 701 upgrade. But I am sure there will be users who want to revert their phone for other reasons.

Huawei 8 FRD-AL10 boots to eRecovery

I recently purchased my Huawei 8 FRD-AL10 on Gearbest and it came with nougat installed with all languages available. Firmware seemed to be very clean, no chinese applications, only some games that I easily unninstalled.
I used the phone for a few days until an update appeared on my phone. I don't recall the exact name of the update, other than it required a 2.41 GB download. The update was left to run on its own, with plenty of battery still left on the phone.
When I came back to check the phone it was sitting on Huawei eRecovery. Rebooted the phone but it always seems to get back to eRecovery no matter what I do.
If i restart the phone by pressing POWER and VOL + and choose the option to recover to factory defaults, it will do its thing all the way to 100%. Once I restart the phone it will always go back to eRecovery.
I reached Huawei by phone and they claim the support is out of coverage as the phone is designed for the chinese market.
Is there a way to recover the phone?
I loaded the stock android 6 rom marshmallow for FRD-AL10 available on the forum onto an SD card.
Inserted the SD card on the phone and pressed both volume (VOL + and VOL-) and POWER buttons, to force the upgrade. It then eventually fails with the following error message "Software install failed! Incompatibility with current version. Please download the correct update package!"
Removed the SD card and booted the phone and connected the usb cable and a prompt came up to install a device named HUAWEI L19.
How can this be? Why is my phone being detected as a FRD-L19?

My friend has the same exact problem that you are writing here about. Could you send me the link you have to android 6.0 you found for the FRD-AL10. I will search around and get back to you.
If it's as I think it is, you need to rebrand your phone to AL10 or use MM of L19

To make it simple. Long story short, bought phone from gearbest, you can check the details here. Phone is an FRD-AL10 intended for chinese market and officially comes with chinese/english, but as you can see on gearbest its "unlocked for european use" and they upgraded to nougat added extra languages to the phone before they shipped it to me . They unlocked the phone and debranded it to its european counterpart (honor 8 FRD-L19) which has very similar hardware.
Phone arrived to me with broken seal, and sure enough it had all the languages and emui 5.0 (which is not stock version) installed on it.
In regards to the stock firmware for AL10 I was able to find it here

The box came with broken seal, that's correct. When I first turned on the phone for initial setup I noticed that it included ALL languages available but the phone should come stock with English and Chinese ONLY.
It came with emui 5 (android 7) installed BUT the latest stock official rom for this model (AL10) is emui 4 (android 6). Only european models have emui 5 available.
So, to my understanding, the phone did not come stock from factory with nougat, they changed it to make it "european" before sending it to me. This explains why the box seal was broken. Please check gearbest listing details for my phone here.

They are not, unfortunately! I have a ticket raised with them and they are denying the whole thing even when I told them straight that the stock emui 4 (android 6) that comes factory stock with this model (FRD-AL10 chinese model) does not have all languages as they advertise.on their site. Only non-chinese versions of honor 8 do come with all languages and emui 5.
Also they are avoiding answer the question on how emui 5 came installed on the phone when the listing says emui 4.
Ah, I am shocked right now
Anyone else that might bought the phone on gearbest that would like to share their story and how you have overcome the issue?

I have a ticket raised with gearbest and they are denying the fact that they sold me a phone with broken seal and emui 5, so how can I trust them? Since the phone now only boots to eRecovery I have no possible way to prove that the phone has emui 5.
I am afraid that if i ship it back to them, through their service, they will come up with an excuse, that I broke the phone in the first place, since they already have the phone and my money on their side. The real problem is that I have now trust faith on their service!

This is what worked for me:
I could not access my phone or even boot into Android to get the Product ID to get the UNlock code for the bootloader etc.
1. Initially my phone was in a boot-loop where it stops at the Huawei eRecovery screen and would not download or update via WiFi.
2. So the 1st step was to download a rollback package for my specific model - FRD-AL10. Then I used the "dload" method (SD Card > "dload" folder, Pwr+Vol UP+ Vol Down) to apply the rollback from whatever it was to FRD-AL10...B135. Succeeded perfectly.
3. Then I downloaded the stock firmware for FRD-AL10, Chinese model, non-specific and again used used the "dload" method to flash the stock firmware to the phone. Succeeded perfectly.
4. The phone rebooted to a 'out-of-the-box' first start-up screen prompting me to select the the Region. Thereafter the Language, WiFi, Agreement, etc and then started looping again to where it went back to the "Selection" screens > Region, Language, WiFi, Agreement, etc. > loop again back to Region, Language, etc.
5. I flashed the firmware again using the "dload" method with the same result.
Note: All other posts suggested I had to 'unlock' the bootloader, root the phone, etc. Unfortunately I did not have access to Android on the phone to get the Product ID, to get the UNlock code, etc. This is where I got stuck. I used different tools, but none would work as the bootloader / phone was LOCKED & the phone UNrooted, FRP was locked.
6. Then I used "Huawei DC Unlocker". I had to buy credits first - 15 Euros. Then used "Huawei DC Unlocker" to essentially "UNLOCK" the phone, it did not "UNLOCK" the bootloader, but it did something to the "FRP" locked issue.
7. I restarted the phone in "SAFE" mode. I was again presented with the "Selection" screens > Region, Language, etc, BUT this time the phone booted into Android.
8. Rebooted the phone in "Normal" mode and it booted into Android. NOW I had access to the dial-pad and could now get access to "Developer" options like USB debugging, get the Product ID of the phone to get the UNLOCK code from Huawei, etc.
9. Once I had all the information I needed, I then 'unlocked' the bootloader by following the instructions from Huawei's website using "fastboot.exe" etc.
10. I then followed 'debranding' instructions from posts elsewhere on XDA to convert the phone from FRD-AL10 to FRD-L09/L19 firmware. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/help-honor-8-chinese-t3489773/page3)
I hope this information will help someone.

Honor 8 Do Not Enter eRecovey Mode

Hello everyone, I need my help, I bought my Honor 8 in Gearbest, version AL-10 (Chinese), but I made the huge mistake in updating, and with that it was only on the screen of eRecovery, searching the internet I found some steps and I did it, but now my cell phone does not call anymore, it's only on the screen with the Blue Honor logo, I can not do anything else, I do not enter eRecovey anymore, I can only enter Fastboot mode, but the phone is locked, Unlock this mode, from what I read I need to unlock it, but I do not have the product id to complete the unlock process, does anyone have any light on how it could make him come back to life?
How do you get it back into eRecovery mode?
Thank you guys
Sorry my english, I do not have much knowledge of the language.

Hello my friend
yesterday I ended up getting
I used a program called DC Phoenix, it unlocks and makes the recording of the new firmware
But now I'm trying to find a correct firmware for my cell phone
He entered cross flash, I installed a version yesterday and when he came up he showed me another version.
Hi alisonduarte,
You bought a chinese model of Honor 8 (AL10). But, did it came with a AL10 firmware or, in most cases of imported models, a rebranded one. (L14 or L19 maybe).
Rebranded chinese models (AL00 and AL10) are known to bootloop with recent firmwares. The last working firmware, for my own rebranded AL00 phone, is B380.
I advise you to rebrand your AL10 to L19, with the help of this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-honor-8-to-frd-l19-t3632220 (L19 Firmware link is dead, another link here: https://mega.nz/#!ELQXnYgb!H7c0hCSIZ6N3ljMBm8JD21-aaNY3E-1JD0M99dntr7o)
Then update to B380 using "Firmware Finder for Huawei" app -or- "dload" folder method -or- RedLotus method. (For the last one: HiSuite 5.0.1.300 needed, download link here. Use this "filelist.xml" link for FRD-L19C432B380 firmware: http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G753/g104/v77475/f2/full/filelist.xml)
Good luck! =)

[Question] No mobile data on custom rom with BLN-21 -> BLN-22

Hi. I recently unlocked and debranded my Honor 6x BLN-21 (European) to BLN-22 (Indian) in order to upgrade to emui 8. I'll just get to the point: I tried flashing OpenKirin's OmniRom and lineage os. Everything worked, and I mean EVERYTHING, except mobile data. I can turn it on and off but it's like it's only working on the UI side: it shows LTE under it but when I try to open the playstore or a chrome tab it's just not there.
Other details are:
- the sim is recognized, i can send messages and call.
- i can connect to wifi
- i tried manually searching for networks since it showed IWIND instead of FASTWEB, but i couldn't find it. I could only find IWIND, Vodafone, 3 and a few others... Even though in the top navbar it correctly says FASTWEB, which is my courier... So there's that.
- I'm from Italy
- I tried lineage os 17.1 (the one from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/development/rom-10-lineageos-17-1-honor-6x-t4064803 ) and everything worked, but since i want to install nethunter , it was incompatible so i had issues with ADB. (Note that i did NOT install nethuner on Openkirin's version of the os in order to test it)
Please does anybody know how to fix this? Is there a patch or something I missed?
Thanks.
Nobody?

Yes, it's true, especially if you are an European.
Our model (bln-l21) does not have the update to emui 8.0 unlike chinese or india.
If you want to install a custom rom on it, you need to have emui 8.0.
To do it, you must debrand it to india or chinese.
If you do it, you can no longer receive certain frequencies 3g / 4g (not the same bands in theses countries).
Never again huawei for me...
