Gem 702-L android 6.0 - Huawei MediaPad X2

http://consumer.huawei.com/tw/tablets/support/downloads/mediapad-x2-tw.htm
There's a "test" version of Android 6.0 for GEM-702L, have any1 tried to install and run it ?
I would love any feedback.

I tried the rom. I flashed my X2 to 703L so I can only fastboot flash this rom. No way to do a full dload.
Anyway, It works fine and smoothly for my X2, but my X2 is originally TW version and this is for TW X2, so it's supposed to working fine and smoothly.

I think hardware wise, there aren't any different in TW or other version of the Gem-702L version. Correct me if I'm wrong

Hmm! Maybe I'll make a stock rooted debloated version of this

Hey, wow I appreciate this very much.
I Converted from 702 to 703 will there be a way to go back to 702L?
If u make a stock debloatet, can u make one without huawei and google stuff as well??
A pure Rom without any supplementary Sniffing Data Stuff would be absolutely phantastic.
Nevertheless, If u d'ont, u do not, Hell on wheels, that's ok for me as well.
Thx, Ray

That would be extremely appreciated if you can do that. I'll try then to see if it converts my 702L with 703L rom back to its original form.
Huawei's TW stock rom is with gapps already, and less Huawei apps. It's basically for international use, only with a regional name.
It will take less trouble than doing a CN stock rom

It was downloading last night but Huawei's site is painfully show. When it said it was going to take 4 hours to download I just left the computer on and went to sleep.

So there's no one that have manually installed this Beta 6.0 on the original 702L ?,

A lot of Taiwanese users have upgraded. The feedback is nice. I don't know about other regions.
I couldn't try it because My X2 has been converted to 703L. It just won't let me get through the dloading.
======
By the way, I don't know if this is useful, but Huawei Taiwan actually provides a downgrade pack for 702L users to downgrade to 5.0 if they are not satisfied with android 6.0
Here's the download link:
http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=81363&version=323452&siteCode=tw
It's only 1x kbs, really tiny pack. It says that dload the downgrade pack first then do the full B005(5.0) dload.
Here's Huawei Taiwan download page if you want to download other versions of stock roms:
http://consumer.huawei.com/tw/tablets/support/downloads/mediapad-x2-tw.htm
Anyone who wants to try might go ahead.

I've already downloaded both package, but unsure about wether I should upgrade or not.
Just read on http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=629&t=4812210 , on that the phone is laggy for some and it runs "hot".
All gem702L runs version b006 as latest, while the Taiwan version only has b005 as their latest.

@iamhcg You write yesterday the downgrade script will also convert your 702to703device back to original 702.
Even if it goes hot, you would have enough time to be able to do the dload method to that B201 version.
Are there any advantages to use a version 201 instead 211? Only the strange thing with miracast. Maybe they bugged this after 201. Is there a difference if you go via this version here?

For what I see, the udate.app in downgrade pack contains some img files you can't flash through fastboot, such as crc.img curver.img, etc; those img files are for android 5.0 formaton.. It is a the first step of downgrading your device, then the full dload do the job.
The only thing is that the downgrade pack is for gem-702L. That's why I need to fastboot flash system img files of 702L to make it temporary go back to 702L, hence get the full process done.

The version No. in different regions are not equivalent. Huawei normally develops CN version first, then they make a few adjustment and roll out to different regions. So I'll say B201 TW is very close, if not equal, to B209 or B211.
For advantages, I do contact local Huawei guys, the response is: for regional roms, they make some adjustment to be more suited to the local environment, such as GPS tuning and some stuff. So now that gem-702L B201 is out, they suggest me to flash back.
Besides the official story, my personal experience is that B201 is more compatible to my gem-702l.
China is a huge but closed market. They setup their roms for local use (Hence, no Google services). But they put everything back to TW/International Roms. I think that's why miracast or other stuff runs well on my 702L in B201.
What I feel now:
1. no a lot of useless CN or Huawei apps.
2. complete gapps.
3. Miracast works.
4. Back to warranty of course.
5. stable.
It's basically just close to the user experience of B209 or B211 for 703L users. I am quite satisfied with it.
I think I'll stay in B201 unless the development gap between 702L and 703L becomes huge again, then I'll consider switch between models.
Now there's a safe way to get back, it wouldn't be a problem.

Thank you for this additional informations.
What do you think about the 701 users who had converted to 703 and want to downgrade for some reason.
Maybe someday Huawei could offer a 6.0 for 701 with fixed gps. I really saw an inaccuracy of 10-30 m on only gps using offroad usage and don't know if this is a consequence of my conversion to 703)
I think it could be possible
- flashing the four 702 img files,
and the universal cust b112,
Then it might be possible to use the downgrade script for 701 model, too.
Then I would install universal cust again and dload the B003 firmware for the 701.
Any comments about this idea?

Ok.. I've finally decide to update my Gem 702L to this Android 6.0, and so far this is my review of this update.
Everything run smooths.
There aren't as many shortcuts in the pulldown menu as before.
DPI changer is a nice thing, otherwise there aren't many changes.

**sorry I have to edit my own post a bit:**
I am not a developer so I don't even know what the uiversal cust does. You probably know more than I do.
I only know there are 2 quiteria:
1. you have to cheat the downgrade script that your device is a 702L for the downgrade to work.
2. You'll need a 701L-cust zip when you want to convert back to 701L
I don't know if unversal cust does the job. If yes, then there's no problem. If no, I rememeber ZeuseZ made a 701 cust file here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66824282&postcount=62
I think "Channel_ru.zip" is a 701 cust in Android 5.0 but I am not sure. Maybe you want to check with him.
Once you have the proper 701L flashable cust, I suggest you to follow my steps, first to make sure you can downgrade to android 5.0 as a 702L. The downgrade pack will check if your device is a 702L. If it's not, the downgrade/dload will stop.
Once the downgrading is done, it is easier from here.
You can simply extract img files from stock 701L, fastboot flash them, format internal storage, flash the 701l cust, then do the full dload thing. Then you should be back to 701L stock.

Yes I see. I doubted zeusez script would do the downgrade. Now we know that this is indeed only a partial of the process.
It just sets the system to a cust folder for region ru and offers that file.
I would need 'eu' for Europe.
I got that original eu file from a user with a untouched 701.
But it could be sufficient to set the model number and temporary to ru, so that dload for the B003 for 701 EU would work on the next step.
I will not test that personally until HW would offer a 701 upgrade. But I am sure there will be users who want to revert their phone for other reasons.

I've posted my process here. It's actually easy. You just have to go back to full B112 stock first; then follow the instructions. Where you are now is pretty much where I started.

Latest stock ROM for GEM-702L

Picked up a 702L and realize the software on it is way outdated in comparison to the 703L. (703L has 5.1.1 on B112 vs 702L only having 5.0.1 on B006 )
1.) Any idea why the 702L is so far behind?
2.) What is the latest and greatest stock rom for the 702L?
3.) Is there any gurantee that the 702L will get 6.0 OTA like the 703L? (my 703L is currently on B205 beta)
4.) Is there a way to safely manipulate a 702L as 703L such that I can flash it with a 703L rom?
Thanx!

Just curious why so many tried to convert from 702L to 703Ljust to get the OS upgrade?
I am a newbie, please forgive my ignorance. My understanding is Android 5.0 is a lot better in the extended microSD memory management then the Android 5.1 where Google has restricted direct access & direct write to SD memory in the name of "security concern".
Please teach me as to what may be the benefit of upgrading to 5.1 or even 6.0?

I believe Google has messed up with 5.1 and even 6 because I read that these upgrades were a great step backward when it comes to "external" SD memory management. A lot of my favorite apps no longer work and data and files are all cramped into the internal memory. Neither can these apps be moved to the SD memory without crashing and locked up after launch. In fact in android 5.1 and 6 the "move to SD" function is no longer available.

Can someone please tell me why bother to upgrade to Android 6 (or even 5.1 if that matter)? From most of my reading, Android 5.1 and 6 no longer has direct access to SD card and thus rendering any extended memory useless. I suppose Google wants to make sure that devices with small internal memory (32GB or lower) will have to upgraded to have any much use.
I for one has cumulated over 100 GB (over400 hours of 30 minutes sessions) of professional lectures and teaching materials that are sitting in my external 128GB sd card of my Samsung Note 3 that I use regularly with Chrome cast. I found out the hard way that with a new android tablet with Android 5.1 I have no luck in using any of them.
There is a patch for 5.12.
This issue has been discussed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro.../request-mod-access-external-sd-card-t3353078
The app developer can implement a user prompt.
I have granted my apps this access.
Otherwise you cab move the staff to the ext-sd/Android/data folder where each app has its files

Update L09 B329 to Android 6

Hi, I flashed B329 in my Mate 7 L09, and I need to update to 6.0. Phone region is latin america.
Brother... you are better off with what you have. Believe me, I've tried two or three builds and always find myself reverting back to lollipop. Latest I tried was C432B571 by forceflashing via fastboot individual *.img files, and went back to C900B329 after a day. Marshmallow has a lot of shortcomings for my taste (not going to list then).
If your are still eager to try it, I recommend you go for C636B512 Full ( Asia Pacific ) build. As it is the easiest to flash via normal local update and also to rollback from.
BTW... I'm in Central America and most likely have the same phone as you.
Try this, B560 is out for it. https://plus.google.com/+NicolasLeonardoToscoff/posts/DbV7bKBu293

[TUTORIAL]How to update EVA-L09C636 (Asia-Pacific) model to B361 (EMUI 5)

I had been searching for a way to update my EVA-L09C636 (Asia-Pacific) model to EMUI 5.0. During the previous month I tried to install EVA-L09C636B361 firmware via either dload and Huawei Updater, but such means of direct installation never worked out.
Now the problem is solved, and the solution is quite simple, though a little bit unexpected: using Huawei Updater to install EVA-L19C636B190 before installing EVA-L09's own B361 firmware. I mean, it is interesting that we have to "borrow" the B190 firmware from the Dual SIM L19 model in order to update to EMUI 5.
(I'm not the first person to find the solution. I just found out that in a Taiwanese forum a tutorial is already posted. )
So there are two steps to install B361:
1.
Install EVA-L19C636B190 via Huawei Updater
Use Custom ROM URL
Copy and paste the link to EVA-L19C636B190:
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1079/g104/v64578/f1/
Use the HiSuite on PC to finish the installation of B190 (Set its proxy to 127.0.0.1 and the port to 41279)
2.
Repeat the previous process, but this time, replace the link with the one to EVA-L09C636B361:
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1256/g104/v73928/f1/
Again, use the HiSuite to finish the installation of B361
Note that the C636B190 version firmware for L19 model does run on L09 without the support of the L09-exclusive NFC. I think there should be a thread discussing this. Anyways, before official update comes out, the two steps above seem to be the only way to install EMUI 5 on the Asia-Pacific EVA-L09C636 version without losing data.
That is interesting, I dont have a C636 but I would assume just doing step 2 without the need to flash a L19B636 would do the trick.

I was searching for this for months. I bought my p9 EVA-L09C636 in the US (I'm european) and I never had the chance to update, even at 4.1.1. I went crazy because I tried several times to unlock the bootloader first, installing twrp and flashing updates but with no success. It's unbelievable that I need to fake the version with huawei updater to obtain the updates for my phone. Now I've Nougat, without factory reset, with everything working, from nfc to all stock apps and services. Thank you very much

Need Help
My model is Huawei P9 EVA-L09C636
I tried to update like this, it's started updating and got an error while updating then phone rebooted with new update,
but there's lot of errors,
Built Number displays as - NRD90M test-keys
Updater missing in settings
Camera missing
Flash Light not working
Clock missing
File Manger missing
and few more default huawei apps missing.
How do I fix it or downgrade to previous version back?
Thanks finally I was able to update my P9 to Nougat using this steps. The only difference is that there is a EVA-L09C636B190 available now so i didnt have to use the version for any other cell, I was afraid to do it. So following this steps i was able to upgrade from 168 to 190 and finally to 361 version.

it's still NRD90M test-keys. but i'm cool with it.
Works on AL00 as well?
I was wondering if I can get the most current european rom on my AL00 with that method as well?
Holy cow thank you for this tutorial.
I spent six hours following every tutorial I could find on the web and my P9 staunchly refused to install ANY update from the very next one after the one it came with all the way up to the latest!
After hours and hours of trying this method is the one that worked.
Edit: This firmware is a developer build.
There have been several updates installed since it was released.
After you this firmware it you should immediately install Huawei Firmware Finder from the Play Store and install the latest full OTA.
The developer build changes the device ID of your phone so you have to manually add the model of your phone in Firmware Finder as:
EVA-L19C636
Otherwise Firmware Finder would tell you there are no firmwares available for your model.
If you can't install the latest OTA immediately after installing this firmware, first install the next one available (38 if I recall correctly) then install the latest OTA -- 38 will say it failed to install but it actually installs just fine, then install the latest full OTA.
That will give you all the bug fixes and the security patches from Google.
Also note that this firmware works on both the dual sim and single sim models (it's built for the single sim but my device is dual sim and the sim configuration in settings works).

I tried to update like this, it's started updating and got an error while updating then phone rebooted with new update,
but there's lot of errors,
Built Number displays as - NRD90M test-keys
Updater missing in settings
Camera missing
Flash Light not working
Clock missing
File Manger missing
and few more default huawei apps missing.
How do I fix it or downgrade to previous version back?

The build number is normal.
As for the disappearing apps, it sounds like you have faulty flash storage.
That will cause files and apps to randomly disappear.

Download Full Package (system update)

I noticed some annoying bugs in Emui, so I thought "hey, why don't reinstall the OS" I tried it over HiSuite but it didn't worked out. After that i noticed the "download the full current package" button in System update. The button does nothing, is this normal? I'm just confused asf, the Mate 9 is my first device so idk. I also noticed that Huawei isnt offering the full roms anywhere where the public can find it easily. OnePlus & Samsung did a better job there... Is there even an easy way to reinstall the OS or update it manually?

Yes. It is normal when System Update doesn't download "full package", cause it checks current and choose not download same version.
And yes. Huawei doesn't offer full ROMs in easy places. They post all ROMs on HiCloud (Huawei Cloud Resource) silently. In a few cases they can post ROMs on Huawei official site, but it is too rare.
Huawei thinks that no necessary to told everyone that new version is coming, cause they are using method with OTA updates.
And no. There is no easy way to reinstall OS or update manually, but with some exceptions.
Current free method uses modified recovery to force update. It requires bootloader unlock procedure (unlock forces factory reset procedure). Additionally method requires some knowledge how whole process is running.
There is paid method also. It is easy in general and you should DNS setup only. But a few percents are choosing pay for service what helps people to install free ROMs.

Are you serious ??
@idealfall1
The easy place to download firmware is firmware finder on Google play store they have all Huawei firmware for all model...
Or we have this site
http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php?find_model=
Find your model number and download it.
And for finish we have a very very easy way to force re-installing firmware without root or flash recovery or paid solution or unlock bootloader... It's the 3 button method !!!
Create a folder in external SD card, call him dload and put firmware (update.app) in, turn off your phone press volume down + volume up + power in the same time and voilĂ
Sorry for my bad english

Huawei Firmware Finder is private project of enthusiasts. They don't host any firmware and only help people to find ROM in HiCloud. But question from idealfall1 was why Huawei isnt offering the full roms anywhere where the public can find it easily. Other manufacturers do it.

Do you have Mate 9? Did you try install something with 3-button method? I tried many times. It is not working.
In case of Mate 9 Huawei added special tag "UPDATE_ONLINE" in rom. And most roms are with this tag will not install via 3-button...

If you are right, so it is very good news!
5 or 6 months nobody can't install roms via 3-button. There are only 3 service ROMs with tag "offline_update".
What exact version do you have? I will download and check for tag.

Ok, conclusion time. Mate 9 users cannot update via 3-button because of this special flag/string. Does the firmware finder work? It's technically an online update, right? I'm a little bit confused... Firmware Finder found for me some FWs from june... Can I install them? Sorry I'm not looking through this mess xD
When I buy it they are in b126 version and upload on b138 but if the 3 button method don't work for update firmware like you say may be can work for him because he want flash the same version of firmware, are you fellow my reasoning ?

If you're using FF, you must know that it forces ROM to system update.
Workflow is simple:
1. Find ROM
2. Force to system update
System Update will download ROM by self, like update is coming from Huawei officially.
But Huawei prevents this trick on very new ROMs and additionally checks for authorization.
In it's turn, FF can check ROM too, tries to reproduce Huawei's routine.
So, if you want install latest rom, you have to use method with modified recovery to force update.
If you want install old ROM - force update via FF.
P.s. We are all huaweied

Yeah. Good idea.
Three button reset does not work with the Mate 9.
It just doesn't.
You can only factory reset if you're on stock.
That applies to ALL stock firmware as far as I know.

MediaPad X2 frezze when screen turns off (from time to time)

I bought mediapad x2 through aliexpress (it seems the model is 703L)
I received it with the custom soft 701L B006
I made an update by OTA to 702L B205.
The phone works fine except freezing after turning off the screen (and automatic reset).
Factory reset (with cache wipe) did not help,
also enable or disable the sleep mode of all apps.
The problem also appeared before the update to 702L
I can not connect this problem with anything (runing app, settings, behavior). It seems to me that the phone frezze more often when I'm walking with phone in my pocket in compare when phon is idle, eg on my desk.
Please help me
Mediapad X2 comes with 3 different model numbers, 701L, 702L, and 703L. Each of them has their own independent roms. You cannot switch between 3 models without proper process. You said you have a 703L, with a 701L B006 and now in 702L B205? There's too much confusion here. I suggest you to figure out what's the exact model of your Mediapad X2 first, and flash the proper rom accordingly. If you want to switch to a different model, there are a lot of tutorials here.
