just wondering, is this it for honor VIEW 10?
no updates, no EIS on camera... nothing...
starting to regret getting Huawei because there is no support, the hardware is good but software if that 1 update was it then I'll never get Huawei again
ALSO you had huge sh*t with youtube channel where stream was not available for some reason

It is also great for group photography where no one is leftout in a photo with accurate bokeh effect while it frames your photo intelligently!
Now, time for some before and after shots with AI Photography!
Before we go into the next section, let us introduce you to a very good friend of our's, Sophia!
Click play to see what she has to say…
If you remember correctly, we mentioned AI 24MP front camera as well and if you didn't know, it takes clearer selfies!
"Apart from having an amazing camera, AI 2.0 also gave it an intelligent touch with:
- Bokeh in selfie mode
- Detailed imaging
- 3D facial recognition
- Correcting optical distortion

"
"If you could only choose one of these many features, which one do you love most?
- Bokeh in selfie mode
- Detailed imaging
- 3D facial recognition
- Correcting optical distortion
- AI improved facial lighting for consistency
- I WANT THEM ALL"
And here are some amazing selfies taken by our fans!
This is all? Of course not! To make your experience as pleasant as possible, AI 2.0 made it easier when it comes to scene identification and automatic classification (Smart scene categorisation in AI Gallery), Smart portrait categorisation to recognise faces by individuals and groups, and Highlights 2.0 where it recognises occasions like birthdays, parties and more!

If the view 10 isn't updated to the Newer AI features and EIS soon, honor would lose a lot of loyal fans. The hardware is more or less similar and there is no reason that the new features wouldn't work. I hope they do update the view 10 cause its one great phone

You guys should've organised this a lot earlier. I remember the View 10 live Q&A being a lot lively as it was announced earlier

?

OMG!
Just fell in Love again.
The phone looks awsome, the first Huawei i bought was Honor 7, after that i had most of the Huawei phones. Mate 8, P8, P8 Lite, P9, P9 Plus, Honor 8 Honor 9, P10, Mate 9 Pro and now proud owner of Mate 10 Pro.
Honor 10 would be awsome to own if i could afford it.
Sent from my BLA-L29 using XDA Labs

meh... nothing terrific about it

I've watched the Livestream, and my GOD what a unique color this device has. I kinda imagine myself using the Honor 10 "NAKED" and everyone is looking at me jealously ??

The phone was very beautiful and had a lot of appeal, I think it will be very successful.

Hey huge shootout.. ? ?

I think the phone is a beautiful piece of machine and anyone who is into aesthetics would pick this over other phones of this price segment. The glass at the back is just stunning.

Will the live stream link be fixed on the raffle page, it says the video is not available, which means you cannot get points for watching it. Another than that the live stream was very informative and well done, except for the speaker. IMO I think they should have gotten someone who was a little more discernible. For me it was fine, but I know some of my compatriots could not understand what he was saying.

Honor 10
Nice upgrade for Honor 8 users

@Honor Anything mentioned about the 6/64GB and 6/128GB models? Will they exist in europe, or only for chinese customers?
Please tell, why headphone jack got added, but no microsd slot. By adding emmc 5.1 instead of UFS 2.0/2.1 it was useless to remove it either.

Are there any details about Honor Open Source Program for Honor 10 or are they stricted to View 10?
Maybe ask @[email protected]_USA?

The design doesn't change enough for me, I don't think I'll buy it. And removing front fingerprint sensor isn't such a great idea, I was hoping this sensor could be under the screen at the front : It would have been a great news
3.5mm jack and scanner on the back as expected. What's the slot / button on the top of the S8?

Well it's all heresay at this point. I have read in multiple places flush mounted dual cameras are equipped and if not its old technology. And will not compare to the iPhone 7 dual camera rival and others.. We'll see at the release. The so called fingerprint scanner on the back was rendered in Photoshop, it has been proven.. We don't know what's up their sleeve. Bet the so called backside scanner is another camera lens... If not the phone is not up to future standards especially after the note 7 disaster Samsung has to deliver on its new flagship. Just my research and 2 cents....

I haven't seen anything special with dual camera phones yet. I have had 2 myself and nothing compares to the Galaxy S7 or Pixel in terms of image quality. The iPhone takes nice photos but not in comparison to the top android phones on the market. Dual lens has its perks but in terms of image and video quality, it's the quality of the sensor and camera that counts, not how many of them there are. Good software is also very important. Xiaomi for example have terrible camera software and image processing that doesn't get the best from their cameras. Their dual camera phone isn't great either.
It's not old technology, that's nonsense! Do you see top SLR and digital cameras with a dual lens setup? It's an added bonus for certain situations, gives a few more functions but it doesn't make it better than a phone with a single camera on board. S8 will doubtlessly have the best or one or the best cameras ever seen on any phone.

I get what your saying. I just saw a lot of talk about dual lenses on the back. It's definitely about the software along with the lens setup no doubt! Everything may be a ploy at this moment to fool apple and lg and others launching before the S8, Samsung needs to deliver especially after the note 7 disaster... We'll find out on March 29th! S7 edge is my favorite phone so far out of the 20 phones I've owned

Yes I hope so, it would be a bit boring if there is nothing else to it. I hope for a surprise or two during the 29th of March announcement. If it's just as the leaks suggest, it'll still be great. I'll be slightly disappointed that we know everything already though.
They really do need to up their game. These devices cost a fortune! With the rise of cheap but powerful Android phones, competition from Apple and crazy things going on in the world right now that could slow down consumer spending, they need to make a statement and convince people to part with their money. I don't think they can absorb another failure. Phones are now so powerful and are packed with so many features, it's becoming more difficult to stand out. I don't see much of a future for 1k devices unless they think of something new. With only minor upgrades, people will start holding on to their current phones for longer.
Fingers crossed, we might not know everything yet!
this gonna be the most beautiful design i ve ever seen!
i loved Note 7 but i think the detail in this design is awesome.

I am still at a loss, why people buy phones based on beauty.
Having previously owned a G5 which has its button at the back I can say its not a good idea, its just annoying, e.g. 90% of time my phone is on my desk with screen facing up, to press the home button as is on the S8 I would need to pick up the phone, its impractical.
I have the same issue with phones been made slim as well, they harder to pick up, they get hotter, it restricts battery size, all for looking more pretty.
The first thing I do when I get a new phone is to buy a gel cover which makes it less slim and gives it raised edges. Modern smartphone design I just dont understand how people like it.

It s not based on beauty but when there lots of same or nearly same specifications and features design can become more important.
There is same chipset on flagships and software is Android with some extra features and optimization. All flagships have great camera and display is qhd, fhd or 4k and all nice for our eyes so design become something different and I love to have beautiful everything around me ...

those 2 cents work on me
Fingerprint on the back isn't a nice place... how to unlock your phone when it's on a table.. could be an option to double tab the screen, but you still need to use that fingerprint on the back..

Which one should I buy? Samsung S9 or Honor 10?

Guys, I am planning to purchase a flagship recently, Samsung S9 was my favour before known Honor 10 from Honor hub of XDA ‘【The New Species in Color】Honor 10 makes Galaxy S9 looks boring!!!’. Honestly, the colour Aurora violet impressed me a lot. S9 looks a little bit boring (S9 still looks much better than iPhone 8) compared with Honor 10. Exclude the ID design, the specification of Honor 10 still not worse than S9.
It is no doubt the absolute performance of Kirin 970 is slightly weaker than Snapdragon 845 or Exynos 9810, but the high performance of 845 can do nothing exclude game! (Well, I’m not a gaming addict) In contrast, the NPU innovated in 970 is awesome, especially utilised for scene recognition and semantic image segmentation mode in camera. To illustrate this two AI technology, I quote the official explanation from Honor below:
The Honor 10’s AI camera was developed and supported by the NPU processor in the Kirin 970 chipset, which means it recognises 500+ scenarios in 22 categories real-time. It can pinpoint the outlines of various surrounding objects, like the sky, plants, people and waterfall, and identify their locations. This feature is supported by the industry-first Semantic Image Segmentation technology, which allows the Honor 10 to identify multiple objects in one single image. It is here where the Honor 10 stands out from the crowd at the first place. Furthermore, the industry-first Honor 10 features apply scene-specific parameters to each photo real-time when taking a picture, making every photo you take professional at just one click.
IT’S REALLY COOL!!!!
I’m sure there will be more AI utilizations in the future based on NPU. Currentlutilizationisation of new technology on the phone is much more rational than pursuing absolute performance blindly.
In the unlock aspects, S9 has iris recognition, facial recognition and fingerprint on the back. But I prefer the ultrasonic fingerprint on Honor 10 since it not only located on the front but also work with a wet finger. By the way, the facial recognition also present on Honor 10 lol…
And the battery of Honor 10 is 3400mAh which is more than 3000mAh in S9. I think Samsung is too conservative on both battery capacity and fast charge after the issue of Note 7, the small battery and outdated 18V fast-charging technology make S9 less attractive. Moreover, the SuperCharge of Honor provides 5V 4.5A = 22.5W keeps phone cool when charging compared with the high voltage 18W QC2.0 (9V 2A). The cool SuperCharge makes me feel more reliable than hot QC2.0, cause I always worry that my Galaxy S7 ‘Boom’ when I charging, it’s really hot!!!
Honor 10 has launched in China last week, ¥2599 (€340) for 64GB; ¥2999 (€391) for 128GB which is much cheaper than Galaxy S9 (nearly €1,000).
As the global launch event will be held on May 15th in the UK, I am so curious about the price. Here I listed some of the core specs of the two phones.
What price do you guys think this psychedelic new phone from Honor is going to be?
€400 or €500?
I have prepared €1,000 for S9 before, but now I think I can purchase two Honor 10 for me and my wife lol…
I would choose Honor 10.I just like huawei more.Price quality and specs ratio hands down for honor 10.
I would buy nokia 7 plus for superior build quality and stock android and faster updates and good battery
With Honor 10 in my hands for 4 days, I would say go buy it if you don't mind the over saturated camera, especially the overly airbrushed human faces in photos. So much for "AI camera"... I regretted my ¥2999.
Fair to say though the phone looks gorgeous and the notch can be turned off...
If I have another chance, I would rather wait for 1+6

Ok, that sounds terrible! Can you post some inages, with and without AI. some faces, plants, landscapes/city images? that would be greatly appreciated!
"especially the overly airbrushed human faces in photos."
Ah, but that makes the images 'professional' apparently. I think I'll stick to a proper, straight set of images that I can post process, should I so choose, with photoshop...
If honor 10 will launch in India with base variant at 35k then there is no competition with oneplus 6. Everyone go for the oneplus 6 at 37k. Also honor has unspecified version of gorilla glass protection. But oneplus 6 has gorilla glass 5. Last time honor launched it's honor v10 that has some of the better specs with it's bigger battery and price at just 30k of 128gb variant and also the display quality.
"Can you post some inages, with and without AI. some faces, plants, landscapes/city images? ..."
Unfortunately I don't have much spare time during the day - but I will try but not very soon.
"but that makes the images 'professional' apparently"
I guess those PS effect automation is the so-called "intelligence" of current camera-hype. I just don't like the overexposed and airburshed fake faces - some might like it though.
Colleage of mine who has s8+ said to me the same thing. He owned Piexl 1 before and would go back to Pixel 3 (when out) solely for the camera department.
Apart from camera the fingerprint recognition of Honor 10 is hardly usable with dry hands - face unlock is fatastic though.

You can, only partially. It has apeture, portrait and photo mode. In portrait mode you can set beauty level and photo mode has AI switch. I have set beauty level 0 and AI off - improving to some extent - but to me the photos are still overexposed and unnatual.
Selfie camera is more obvious even with beauty level 0.
BTW the phone was bought from China in a trip and I live in NZ so returning is a real challenge. I decided to keep it despite of the annoyances. I like the size and the looks of the body, dual sim functionality, and able to customise the UI to my liking...

In the P7 pro teardown thread the fingerprint scanner has a different hardware number, so it's either an updated version or a different part used.
Don’t worry, the Pixel 7 fingerprint scanner is totally fine
Worried about the Google Pixel 7 fingerprint scanner since the Pixel 6 had so many problems? Don't be, it's just fine.
www.androidauthority.com
And then you have this review:
Pixel 7 Pro review: Google is finally figuring out flagship phones
With its latest Pixel 7 Pro, Google seems to be proving that it's learning lessons and really figuring out how to make flagship phones.
9to5google.com
"This year, though, things are a bit better. Yes, the fingerprint sensor is still much slower than OnePlus and Samsung. You can’t just quickly tap the sensor and immediately unlock the device. But, the accuracy seems to be bumped up just a little bit, as it doesn’t require the same level of muscle memory to get the right position for unlock. Plus, it does feel slightly quicker than last year. It’s roughly on par with the Pixel 6a, which had a few updates over the 6 and 6 Pro."
Edit: I am adding another review. I am currently using an S21 Ultra and am generally happy with it. However, as opposed to leasing (which I have been doing with the S21 ultra) I am looking to buy a phone outright and this phone piques my interest. Failing this, I will either just buy out the remaining balance of the S21 ultra or possibly buy the S23 ultra outright (depending on the reviews but will probably be very iterative)

"The bad news? The fingerprint sensor doesn’t appear to have improved much at all. Sometimes, it registers my fingerprint just fine and works on the first try. But if it does work, it often takes a beat longer than I’d like it to. And when it doesn’t work, I often have to try a second or a third time before it properly scans my finger. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s also not particularly great."

Pixel 7 Pro review: Google is finally figuring out flagship phones
With its latest Pixel 7 Pro, Google seems to be proving that it's learning lessons and really figuring out how to make flagship phones.

No, I gave up on Samsung. Since there wasn't a 512 GB Pixel in 2020 after our Pixel 1s stopped receiving updates,, and I really liked our Samsung Galaxy S3s years back, I got us the Note 10+ 512 GB. I was glad to give them up when the 512 GB Pixel 6 Pro came out. I'm never going back. I understand that some people like them, and that's fine.
I actually have a whole dissertation on what I didn't like about the Note 10+, which I don't have a problem with on our Pixels so far, for the times someone asks me why I don't like Samsung, which have been a few:
roirraW edor ehT said:
My wife and I had the Note 10+, not the S21 Ultra, so I can't speak to that.
For the Note 10+, complaints were:
Slow ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint reader. Some folks have the same complaint about the P6P's optical in-screen, but it's worked very, very well for me.
Samsung's duplication of multiple services that Google supplies. You have to know what you're looking for and jump through all the proper hoops/settings to set defaults back to Google's solutions since that's what I prefer.
Related to Samsung's duplication of services/apps, their phone app duplicated a bunch of my contacts (and even tripled some) in a way that Google doesn't recognize them as duplicates, so I'd have to go through manually, compare, and delete or consolidate contacts.
How customization of the active Quick Setting tiles was set was really frustrating, up through and including Android 11 on the Note 10+. When it gave a list of the QS Tiles I had to choose from (to add to those that normally show), it presented them in a single horizontal scrolling row across the top of the screen only and in no order that made sense to this human, instead of Google's method of displaying all the tiles available in all of the screen real estate that's available, so even if the order the "inactive" ones doesn't make sense, at least I can see 14 of them all at once and only have a little over two pages of them instead of 8 pages of single-row QS tiles to choose what to activate. This is particularly frustrating when using third-party apps to enable better performing QS tiles for WiFi or Mobile Data toggling or other purposes, so I would have more than one nearly identical-looking toggle that would get confusing to choose from, and from what I remember, the custom third-party app-created QS tiles weren't necessarily together or at the very end of the scrolling list.
Despite disabling all background snoozing for particular apps like GMail, Hangouts/Chat, etc, I couldn't get timely notifications of emails and chat. This was particularly troublesome for work, which also uses Google for everything. I opt not to have a work-supplied phone as it would be iOS. As an aside, my coworkers who do have iPhones from work also have trouble with some chat notifications not being obvious or immediate or some such, so that wouldn't necessarily be a solution anyway.
Before the Note 10+ (on the Pixel 1 I used before it), my emails and chat notifications came through immediately. I sometimes got email notifications for work several hours after. I do enough multi-tasking and when I'm very busy I just don't get a chance to flip back to my Chrome GMail window on the computer so I rely on the phone notifications.
Sometimes I would get a phone notification of an email (both personal and work) in the GMail app hours after I had already seen the email in Chrome on the PC and had deleted it or in some cases at least definitely had read it and didn't do anything further with it.
My brother has a Galaxy S9+. This has been his and his big extended family's first smartphones of any kind. When I complained to him about the late or useless Note 10+ GMail and chat notifications, he told me he experiences the exact same thing and he assumed that was just the way Android is.
Factory resets and all disabling of background snoozing of affected apps didn't help at all.
Samsung gimped Do Not Disturb. When DnD came out with (I think it was 5.0 Lollipop), I hated it and gave up on it quickly. I don't remember at what point I started actually using it on the Pixel 1, but they definitely improved it tons. I don't recall exactly what Samsung's implementation was missing but it was very noticeable having come from the Pixel 1 and no longer being able to do some things. I think what Samsung was missing was the ultra-fine granularity of configuration I could do for each and every scheduled and common/unscheduled DnD profile as to what exceptions were allowed to get past DnD. They had some of it implemented but missing enough that it stuck out at the time.
Now that I have the P6P, I can say that the Note 10+'s night mode camera shots were really bad. I think they were worse than even the Pixel 1s'. The P6P does wonders with what little light is available, by comparison.
There may have been more but I can't recall at this time.
I did like the built-in stylus. My wife used hers tons more than I did, but it would be handy for Google Photos' magic eraser and for other things. Samsung owns patents that would keep anyone else's stylus from being quite as useful or convenient, however. If I remember correctly, between Apple and Samsung's stylus patents, everyone else's stylus just can't compare.

FWIW coming from a physical sensor (3xl) it works just as well so far. Have to turn on the screen first, so two actions vs the 1, but reliability/speed went from a big concern to a non-issue so far.

Hello, I have a pixel 6a which I like very much, but which for me has a defect. We cannot put all the applications in full screen (prime video...), whereas samsung, xiaomi have this option there. I like to know if with the pixel 7 or 7 pro this is now possible? Thanks in advance

General TechRadar review: "The Google Pixel 7 Pro is simply a brilliant phone at everything it does"

For those interested, here's a link to Philip Berne's review at TechRadar. Rating 4.5/5
The summary: "The Google Pixel 7 Pro is every bit as good as the best smartphones from Apple and Samsung. It looks great, takes amazing photos, and stands out in a crowd. Google made lofty promises for this phone, and it delivers on the most important, even though some features aren’t as good as we’d hoped (and others have yet to arrive). Google implements software features as art, and the Pixel 7 Pro improves the smartphone in areas we’d forgotten needed improvement."

General Xiaomi 13 Unboxing & First Impression & Specs

I just received my Xiaomi 13 (12/256) and immediately proceed to unboxing, first impression and specs review.
One caveat, if you want to get hold of UFS4.0 it seems you need to order the 256GB version (at least), as the 128 GB version only has UFS 3.1... how much difference will this play in the real world we still need to check & see.
Here also some random tests that I did.

Guys,
I have been using the Xiaomi 13 now for almost 2 weeks quality time as my mainly driver. Here my feedback in case any questions just hit me and I will try to reply. It`s a rather expensive device so... no questions should be left unanswered if you decide to go with it
Where did I buy it
============
I bought it off trading shenzhen and it was delivered out of China for ~ 12 days. The price was 823 EUR for the 12/256 version
Which version
=========
I do believe that the 12//256 is a must if not... then strongly recommend. Why? The 8/128 version seems to have UFS 3.1 and UFS 4.0 is just better. How? UFS 4.0 can achieve read speeds of up to 4200MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 2800MB/s. In contrast, UFS 3.1 has read and write speeds of up to 2100MB/s and 1200MB/s, respectively. And also 12/256 is a bit more future proof for the next 1-3 years at least
Form Factor
========
With the size 6.36" it`s rather one of the few small Android phones and I love it. It fits in most of my pockets and I am using usually the S22 Ultra, so coming to a smaller screen didn’t felt too bad but it felt way more convenient.
Display
=====
I am a fan of curved screens and this is completely flat which is a bit problematic with gesture use and the included case. But the Samsung E6 AMOLED is really good, very bright (up to 1900 nit peak) and totally usable under direct sunlight. I have compared this to my S22 Ultra and it was not falling behind (S22U has lower peak nit as per specs) but it doesn’t feel like this when comparing.
Battery
=====
4500 mAh isnt too much sometimes with Android phones but here the results are outstanding I believe due to the Snapdragon 8 GEN 2 performance and efficiency. I get constantly over 6 hrs of SOT with mixed (mobile/wifi) use.
Snapdragon 8 gen 2
==============
That`s a beast, able to run at 45 C for a longer period of time w/o sacrificing performance. I was able to run 10 times AnTuTu with only losing 4% from the original score in one of the rounds. I was able to play Genshin Impact for 3 hours and 10 minutes running from 80% to 0%.
It’s a powerhouse and maybe the best chip to upgrade to if you are looking to stay with the phone for a longer period.
Speakers
======
This year the Harman Kardon tuning is gone, but the speakers are loud, EQ works well, sound is balanced and compared to my S22Ultra I like the Xiaomi sound better, it sound fuller and has more bass
Charging
=====
Xiaomi advertised 43 mins from 0 to 100% and ... it`s almost like that, I got it from 0 to 100% for 45 minutes so the claim is total valid
IP68
===
It has official rating but the only thing that worries me that I did not notice any rubber isolating on the sim tray slot
Camera
======
The back camera is outstanding, color consistency between ultra-wide, main/wide and tele is OK, Xiaomi finally improved the audio quality (bitrate) in video recording. You can shoot Dolby Vision video 4K 60 FPS for 6 minutes, the only downside is the front camera HDR processing which is still not ideal and ... the FHD 30 FPS only mode for front camera video which is a bummer.
The only big downside I was able to find is that on 4K you cannot auto switch between the camera lenses when shooting video, you can only do that on the FHD.
The 3.2x Optical Zoom is OK and up to 10x it`s bearable but it`s worse than S22 Ultra zoom capabilities.
Chinees MIUI
=========
The ones I got comes with Google Basic Services, so you just switch a toggle and you have playstore you have google, so it`s good. It does though come with a lot of Chinese app that some might want to remove. It does also have native call recording.
Well that`s about this summed up, let me know if you have any questions or share your experience with the device.
Nice flat screen gorgeous phone
It just arrived today. I'm enjoying it a lot.
Tried to unlock it right away, but for some reason, Mi Flash tool told me to wait for a week , which is fine.
I'm eager to unlock, root, then globalize it via magisk modules.
The camera is really great, check the attachment for reference.

I haven't find anything wrong. Works just fine.
Like every time I buy Xiaomi with CN Rom it hurts... Experience is just so bad. So many lags and bugs. Luckily there is EU and other roms. I just need to wait 5 days.
I got red device 512GB few days ago and experience is mixed. Yeah it's a smaller phone finally (coming from MI11) but cameras are disappointing for now. Especially wide camera. I did had good experience with gcam on MI11 for ultra wide. So just waiting for that. Also the red color is not so red as advertised! Does anyone know does it have a pre applied back glass protector? Cuz it looks like it does and it would make sense because the color and feel to touch are just not so good! Battery life could be better. 5G on some networks is switching off and leaves you without network.. condom case as always is disgusting to touch and slippery.
(Ordered new thin mat black)
Nova Launcher beta finally works with gestures BUT you can't choose it as default launcher so it reverts to default one all the time so I uninstalled it...
Yeah , every time I give a chance to CN Rom and every time is just such a bad experience.
Oh yeah , some google services don't work like assistant, basically anything to do with microphone permission, good luck finding it in setting. If you do please let me know.
Duolingo app voice exercise, don't work , yeah, because microphone permissions... Goes through Google.
Google and China are not good friends. Bad Google bad !
And there is more trust me
