On some levels Id say OP7 pro is better for sure. Faster internal storage, faster overall user experience, faster updates, no camera hole, 90 hz screen. Its definitely cheaper as well if that matters
But the cameras (front and rear) won't match the S10, no external storage, only 256gb of internal storage compared to 512 and 2tb on S10. No wireless charging, no IP rating (bucket of water hardly counts) lol.
It will certainly not destroy the S10 that's for sure.
Samsung wins in the camera department by far

Yes I agree, The camera part of the Oneplus is a bit weak compare to the S10 series.
TL;DR: Go for OnePlus 7 Pro. Easy choice.
Personally I think Samsung's flagship devices are a waste of money. Before you read on! I'm not fully updated on all of what I'm going to complain about, so it might've changed!
To me, Samsung has nothing unique to offer, yet their devices are almost as expensive as an iPhone. Which in my opinion is insane. Samsung offers a ****ty version of Android that looks **** (think it actually looks better now than it did before), full of bloat; it doesn't even let you uninstall Instagram. Personally I'm not a huge fan of their self-made apps either. In my opinion, it would be better to spend that money on an iPhone, which at least offers something unique (being iOS).
When it comes to OnePlus. They seem to have a great vision when it comes to how they do things. One of the things I really like with them, is that you're allowed to root the phone, and you won't void warranty. Though, to lots of people, rooting isn't very major. However, their version of Android is very nice. It is close to stock Android, has close to no bloat. The bloat that it has, you can uninstall (with root). Their hardware is very nice, and now more than ever with their new OnePlus 7 Pro (OP7P). Then the price you pay is less than any other phone with same specs.
When it comes to camera, there might be better options. However, OP7P has a very decent camera, and when someone ports the Pixel camera app to work on OP7(P), it will (probably) improve the camera greatly.
I own both the 7 Pro and the S10+
This is coming from someone who hasn't owned a Samsung since the Note 4 and has owned almost every OnePlus device.
While the 7 Pro is a really good phone the S10+ is just better. The only things better on the 7 Pro is the screen scrolling, OnePlus gestures (best Android gestures hands down), UFS 3.0 storage, and screen off gestures.
The fingerprint reader is faster on the 7 Pro but the fingerprint reader on S10+ works when your fingers are wet, and you don't need to wake the screen to use it.
I do like the size of the 7 Pro (I like bigger phones) but in-hand the S10+ feels better, 7 Pro is thicker than the S10+.
Samsung's new One UI is nothing like the old Touchwiz. The S10+ has so many customization option it's not even funny. I have found no reason to want to root the S10+ (coming from someone who has rooted every single phone they have owned).
7 Pro camera is ok but the camera on the S10+ is good if not great (not Pixel great).
I had the s10 and returned it. The finger print sensor on it was not working consistently. Samsung has too much bloatware for me and didn't see a major difference from my pixel 2 xl. Only good thing about Samsung is Samsung pay. Op 7 so far I'm loving it. It depends on what you are looking for. I don't really care for camera and I'm not worried about getting some water on the phone. Also i don't use wireless charging. The specs on op7 are ridiculous for the price. Plus op7 will get the latest updates including Q faster than Samsung phones.

OP7 is water proof though, they just didn't care to pay for the IP-certification.
I have the ceramic 10+ it is lovely but I will say that the 7 pro looks terrific, Oxygen OS and the fast updates are tempting and I am not expecting Q anywhere near the 10+ until 2020. The camera edge is probably still just with the 10+ and the expandable storage too but other than that the 7 pro is a compelling package for sure, well almost…..
….For me though an always on display and wireless charging are important features, I could probably do without wireless charging but with them marketing it as a pro model it really should have been included IMO. As for the always on display with so many OEMs offering this now that there is no reason for me to consider OP until they do too. I get that some people do not rate this feature but me it has fast become a must-have.

How does the 10+ camera compare to your Pixel 2 XL? I've just come from a Pixel 2 XL to the 7 Pro and the difference is huge, there is a lot of hope riding on GCam turning this camera around - i've got a 15 day window to return the 7 Pro and it will be going back if there isn't progress on the camera front (and then possibly going the S10+ route if the camera is any better).

Well the main sensor is pretty good on the 7 pro, we don't know about the other sensors (wide, tele) though. It might get better in the future, because the main sensor is pretty good and the weakest part seems to be the software for now. Also, you can't film with the wide angle lens on the 7 pro, and we don't know if that will be possible in the future. That's the reason why I will wait 1 more month until I decide which phone I will buy. The worst case: I have to wait until Google releases their pixel 4 because I can't stand the design of the pixel 3 XL.
I have the S10+ and have a OP7 in the box right now, probably switching over.
S10+ still lags if not rebooted every couple of days for me.
Exynos camera is meh and so is standby time.
I like the S10 but it didn't live up to the hype, want a phone I don't have to baby
Snapdragon is a different story from what I've read
The OS and notchless screen are huge selling points for me.
Won't really miss wireless charging too much, don't use the SD slot as I have 2 Sims.
Agree, being shortchanged with the exynos has left a sour taste this year.
I'm just not sure I could lose an AOD, especially as the is no led. I tried before and it bugged the hell out of me. I am though still very tempted!

S10 is more versatile but the main camera in the 2xl is imo better.

I caved and purchased the OP 7pro so now have both and 2 weeks in and I am conflicted on the OP7 vs the S10+.
The OP is a beast and I have found it more of a burden to carry and use than my S10+, it also makes an iPhone Xs max look small! I have also missed the always on display, wireless charging a little but no big deal. I’d also say that outside the extra brightness of the Samsung makes it easier to see, again no biggy. I prefer pretty much everything else about the OP7 Pro though and one thing I have noticed (and have posted this over on the S10 forum) is how much better the radio performance is on the OP7, I think this may be more down to the S10+ being bad than the OP7 being really good but at my work for example the S10 clings to 1 bar of 4G and often drops to 3G whereas the OP7 is rock solid on 3 or 4 bars of 4G all day. I have also installed Gcam and it works really well.
I won’t comment too much on the FPS, both work ok with the OP being quicker and the S10 being maybe more convenient on account of not having to wake the screen first. I do though still prefer a rear mounted sensor like the Pixel which is IMO just a better, quicker and easier option.
Re the AOD I read that OP have said they are working on this but are still citing battery concerns, given how good and polished oxygen OS is I just do not get why OnePlus are finding it so hard to provide a proper always on display? Lots of other OEM’s have managed it, LG even managed it on an LCD screen. Anyway fingers crossed they are at least on the case now.
So overall it is a seriously good device, I do though wish it was just not quite so big.

Why does it have to be unique, I don't care about that? I care about it being a good phone, a well rounded one at that. It's hard to pack a lot of features into a cheaper phone, and often results in some corner cutting and that's what happened. The pop up camera is a DISASTER and all over China one plus has had to offer an apology and a slightly extended warranty, I'd never trust that and it collects a whole lot of dust around the top of the camera port when sitting in your pocket and such, regardless of the waterproof red ring on the top.
One UI is great, I bought the s10+ and never received Instagram, and not much bloatware at all, oneUI has almost no issues besides Bixby, which Samsung even lets you disable. OneUI has been garbage, but its great in this new phone, just look at what most reviewers have to say. The s10+ is way more well rounded then the op7 pro, which has some standout features but some pitfalls top. 90HZ is great but still isn't a huge difference and the battery life is quite poor on the OP 7 pro, I went to t-mobile and didn't notice much of a difference if at all, I did notice a difference with the 120hz razor phone though, maybe if you slow the phone down by 5x the 90 hz will have a big difference.
And you're acting like iPhones are a similar value, the hardware of iPhones in general doesn't even compare to Samsung, they're GARBAGE. Unlocked right now is a s10+ and a XR for around the same price, 880p LCD vs 1440p 4k OLED display, 18 watt vs 5 watt charger, 4100 mah battery vs 3200 mah, wide angle + telephoto lens, no giant notch and a bigger screen, slightly curved edges, headphone Jack, expandable storage, way more ram AND storage. Gtfo saying these phones are close in that regard, apple is only for iOS, why would you rather buy an iPhone. Without nova launcher, Samsung offers LOADS of customization. Also real world pricing is 29$ for a OP 7 pro a month with t-mobile which is the only seller in the US, sprint is 25$ for a s10+ with upgrade plan and all, which makes a lot more sense then spending way more to buy a phone outright vs only paying half price then upgrading to the latest and greatest phone of your choosing, keep in mind most people use carrier plans so this is the more realistic example. Oh and no wireless charging with the OP 7 pro, IP rating, headphone Jack, expandable storage, etc.

Biased much?
Been a Samsung user since the the original note 3. I owned only OnePlus phone, aka OnePlus 1. It was fast back then and still is useable for me with custom rom. Now, current I own a note 5, I have it for almost 4 years now. Its getting slow even with a custom rom. There is not much support for the note 5 either, specially t mobile note 5. So my question is should I go with the Galaxy S10 plus or the OnePlus 7 Pro? S10 plus are listed for 750$ (8gb,128gb,unlocked). The OnePlus 7 Pro is also 750 unlocked with the best possible spec from OnePlus (256gb,12gb, unlocked). Money is not an issue for me to be honest, but I don't want to overpaid (weird). Which is better and your reason for choosing one over the other. Or .... Should I wait for the note 10? I know it's gonna be a beast :laugh:
honestly, I guess it comes down to personal preference.
i.e. Samsung is more feature packed but more locked down. OP is more dev friendly, if you'd like to play with modding and custom roms
Owning an s9+ for a couple of years, I enjoy some of the Samsung features, but could live without:
- water proofing - dunked the phone in water 3 times only: can't use the screen properly and that's a shame, also the speakers get muzzled and you get that annoying device is wet notification - better skip (the photos aren't that great either unless you're in a clear-water swimming pool)
- wireless charging - definitely cool feature, it's useful for me because I can charge the Iphone 8 with the same charger, but I use it mainly at night when placing the phone on the stand. It's too slow still. I definitely missed my OP5T charging speed when switching to Samsung, I literary changed charging habits with DASH
- micro-sd slot - never used it. I find popping out the tray to be an overkill. With cloud I don't see the point transferring videos (those are the storage eaters) over cable anymore. Or files for that mater. I use solid explorer and do my transfers via FTP server on my home wi-fi
- headphone jack - I guess I've used it only once. I find wired stuff cumbersome honestly and sacrificed some quality for comfort, even for home speakers. I listen to music everyday and it's nice to have two devices connect to the same headphones over BT
There's more to be discussed here, but you should really take a close look to your lifestyle, how your day goes by and match each device to that. You will certainly get your answer

I can not stand Samsung Bloatware, want Gmail does not matter here is Samsung Mail which you can not delete, want Chrome here is our Samsung browser, want Google Pay..... "Samsung Pay" .... etc.....

Strong dev support.. Still own 3T with rom support even after 3 years. Also the oneplus pushes updates till date.
Pricing - U get premium device for good deal..

I'm really liking the new OnePlus 7 Pro, but I heard from the reviewers that with 90hz on, ur battery life won't last through a day. That refresh is one of the reasons I ant to buy the device. Been using 144hz monitor, so using phone with 60hz is not the best experience. I hope there will be more after market battery case, the current one for Oneplus device looks horrible. Custom is definitely a plus. To be honest the only reason for me to get s 10 or note 10 is good custom rom support, but right now, OnePlus 7 Pro looks so good to pass. With the cameras, I have to say still no where close to the pixel, but hope there will be a gcam version for it.
I have been using my op7p for a week now. Comparing to my gf s10 plus, I have to say the screen on the s10 plus is way over the 7pro, except the 90hz. Indoor usage, the brightness level for both phone is about the same; however, when it comes to using the phone under direct sunlight, the 7p falls behind. That the only thing I hope OnePlus will improve and the camera....., even my note 5 at max brightness is still usable under sun light. Everything else is great on the 7p. So worth it.
I still have both.
The ceramic S10 feels nicer in the hand and is noticeably easier to one-hand.
Always on display and wireless charging are big plusses
Both screens are great but if you pushed me I'd give the advantage to the Samsung.
I way prefer oxygen os over one UI, and there is a degree of comfort knowing you get the updates quicker, OP are very active in this regard
The OP7 pro is faster across the board at pretty much everything.
I find I get better and more reliable 4g and wifi performance on the OP. Starting to think my S10+ (exynos) may have something wrong with the radios.

I got rid of the OnePlus 7 Pro after 7 days of usage:
1. 90hz RR just disappears at most usages(there is a workaround using adb to enable 90 Hz RR but keeping at a fixed 90 Hz further dents on battery life).
2. The curves are rather deep (reminded me the curves of Galaxy s6 edge, s7 edge, s8+ that I didn't like)- my earlier Note 9 and current s10+'s less curvy & squarish design feel better to avoid accidental touches(& typing letters p, q, etc.) and reflection under artificial lighting conditions.
-3. Under sunlight, the s10+'s screen is way more legible. It's occasional to have such usage, but when it does , it does matter.
4. Like the notchless display, but at the cost of a pop-up camera that accumulates dust and debris in the compartment- that doesn't retract entirely by the time it touches ground dropping from a weist height/table is not something I appreciate.
5. It's heavy and big ,becomes uncomforfortable for my liking to talk for longer period of time. I was not happy with the weight of 512 gigs S10+ especially when talking for an hour or so daily, hence swapped to a 128 gigs version(175gms) that feels just right. At 206 gms+the weight of a case, I found the 7 Pro way more uncomfortable to use in 1 week of my of usage.
6. No IP rating counts. No company offers warranty for liquid damaged units even with IP rating but they do so bcoz they do not know how long the user kept in water- for 30 mins, 30 hours or for days, for 1 meter deep, 2 meters or was in salt water... But with an official IP rating it's a peace of mind. You can dunk a certified IP67/68 rated smartphone in a swimming pool without thinking twice but you can't with the 7 Pro with a fear of damaging it. For light rain or splash- 7 Pro is fine, so does most of the non-IP certified smartphones now a days with zero advertising of "bucket-test" by the manufacturer itself.I do not like a smartphone that often accumulates dust. To users like me, ingress protection matters.
7. Why have a glass back on when no wireless charging ? Probably even OnePlus does not know.
8. OOS 9.5.7 improved the camera but it still has focusing issues in low light and macro, and wide angle cam can't be used for video yet- These are nitpicky and might get resolved with future updates.
(OOS 9.5.8 is out but I couldn't get the chance to check it).
Overall the 7 Pro failed to impress me to be my daily driver even after having some strong "+ve" sides.

First world problems lol. Most of your cons are personal preference and also based on aesthetics. Only thing i can agree with slightly is the wireless charging. It wouldn't make sense to get wireless charging that gets you full battery in 2.5 or 3 hours over warp charge in an hour or less(?). Camera is OK, i'll take the 7 pro over the overly done beauty shot in selfie mode and over saturation on the s10. There also has been tests to see if the 7 Pro is water resistant, plenty of videos on youtube and insurance is optional on the phone which do cover drops, spills and cracks. Heaviness of the phone... i like it, better than the lightweight of the s10. Maybe the next one will impress ya.
Don't really care about the weight ? I need more battery, so I ordered a battery case to run 90hz full time. You can tweak it. The rest really depends on your need and personal references.

One can easily find an international Samsung Galaxy S10+ within 50-60 dollars price difference. When you compare side-by-side (features, specifications, and aesthetics), S10+ beats OP7 Pro hands down. The biggest strength of OP branding was to provide customers speed at a reasonable price. With negligible price difference why would you even buy OP7 Pro?
Oh, did I mention the almost useless OP customer service? I could not get my OP6T repaired through OP d/t horrible customer service. I am a firm believer you get what you pay for.
If the OP7 Pro price was capped under $600, then the value proposition would have given OP7 an advantage. Again, just my personal opinion, your mileage may vary.

Where I live the s10 plus is about the same price as the 12gb model op7p. I used student discount to buy the op7p so it is cheaper. Both are new and unclocked, but you get more ram storage higher refresh rate with the 7. The software is also better on the 7. Everytime I use a Samsung device, I have to flash custom rom to get the most out of it. Sometime, developer abandoned the project and the rom never get updated. The s10 plus beats the 7 outdoor visibility which I really wish the op7p would get to 1000 nits and the camera (opinion), depends on what you prefer. Samsung used to be great, beefy spec, newest technology, but they rather selling components to other companies to make more money than use it for their own products. If the note 10 comes with 90hz or higher, I would drop my money for it, but we all know too well that it won't. The question I asked before buying is why would I get 60hz? When the 90hz is way better. It's night and day difference.
I traded my 512gb S10 plus for the 12/256GB oneplus 7 pro and I think both phones are great. I think the only thing the s10 did better was to quickly adjust to the surrounding light. I often find myself adjusting the brightness level of my OP7P as it is often too dim and too slow to ramp up the nits. Other than that I'm quite happy with it. Until the Note 10 pro that is?

Fast charging and wireless charging have nothing to do with one another, lol. The convenience if wireless charging is not having to plus something in. So much nicer to just set something down and let it charge. It's not meant to be a fast wireless charger. If u wanted to charge faster, I'd plug it in, lol. Like the Huawei. It's got wireless charging and fast wired. Two separate solutions for two separate problems. One doesn't trump the other. The Galaxy phones have a quick wired charging so it's not super slow if you needed some juice. But the OnePlus has NO (zilch, zero, nada) option for wireless charging.
I immediately eliminate any phone with a notch from my list. I thought thanks to new hole in display Samsung phones I would keep my note 9 until they release phones without which may not be for another 2 years. No thanks to 7 pro with its 6.7 inch no notch display I got the upgrade itch. Why anybody would buy a notched phone is beyond me. What a stupid idea. Imagine your TV having a notch . 7 pro out selling s10 in China and people have spoken.
Despite the speed of the processor and the fluidity of the 90 hz display, the 6GB OnePlus 7 Pro retains the same disastrous problem from it's predecessor - pathetic RAM management. The stock phone app hangs! Other apps hang too, but the hung phone app on a Rs.49,000 phone is unacceptable under any yardstick or scale.
Summary: A high end phone with a hung phone app is what the latest 6GB model of OnePlus 7 Pro is. None of the PVR cinema ads or online hype makes no mention of the reality that it cannot meet the bare minimum requirement of a smartphone - a working stock phone application. That's all this review is all about. If you don't have time, you can leave it here.
If you want the numbers continue reading. 85% of RAM is always used up, that is without opening a single RAM heavy app. Spoke to Amazon tech support and OnePlus support. All they could do is show me where to find the list of apps consuming the memory (which show average memory use over a period of time, not live data). I had to uninstall many essential apps (none of them are games or have heavy graphics) significantly reducing the value of my OnePlus device. Wonder why they don't show the live data? the RAM management that's shockingly bad. Installed 2 professional diagnostic tools to check (one of them advised by Amazon tech support) and the RAM used under below average load conditions was 85% (after uninstalling RAM heavy apps.) This probably has to do with overclocked processing. Flightradar24 is an app I cannot do without, as a frequent flyer. It's RAM heavy according to OnePlus. I now run it on a cheap backup from Xioami phone (which by the way costs 1/10 that of the OnePlus 7 Pro). Same with Uber, bank apps and financial market tracker apps, which did not have any problems running on my previous device - Samsung S10 plus. I gave it away. At least it was far lighter and reliable than OnePlus. Oh OnePlus has a fancy 90Hz display and fast fingerprint reader, the effects of which wear off in the 1st week of use. When reality dawns, half a lakh of cash is gone. The display or fingerprint reader cannot compensate for a hung phone app.
The conclusion is - the phone like a caged lion, struggles within the bars of it's limited RAM. It gives off the sensation of unreliability. The slippery smooth glass combined with the tablet-heavy phone reduces reliability further. It requires a minimum of 8GB, if not more in the long run.
The worse part is Oneplus cannot do anything. And Amazon cannot replace is as the stock apps getting stuck on account of insufficient RAM is a technical issue and not one that warrants a replacement of device. Again, OnePlus is not Samsung. BEWARE.
Batterylife? Forget 90 hz Even when kept at 60 hz fulltime it's lower than the exynos model of samsung gs10 plus. This is a fact, I KNOW because just before this Oneplus I used gs10 plus for three months in a raw.
Lemme tell about outdoor visibility :-- It plain SUCKS. Due to my job commitment I stay outdoors many a times. And I end up finding shades to see what's in the screen LMAO. It's 2019 for God's sake Oneplus. Poor minimal nits was intentional to keep batterylife in control is what oneplus did with the best of my thinking. No option to choose 90 hz in settings as it would eat up battery like an elephant drinking water. Oneplus already clarified that. More bigger battery means more height,width,length and weight than that it already is, so didn't. Very nice move.
The oneplus has a specific audience =>> college/highschool going students who love consuming media non- stop and happy playing PUBG and other games, keep in watching movies, browse social media, comment, recharge and repeat. Definitely does not look like made this keeping corporates in mind. I'm repenting for not doing enough research before buying this. Learnt a lesson and selling this in OLX. Forgive me who have read this far but did not like it at all for me not at all knowing how fast, no notch , yada yada great of a phone this oneplus is.
I had to decide between the s10+ and 7 pro as the 10+ was just 25$ more. I chose 7 pro because it was impossible for me to cope with the pill, I find it worse than a notch just because it has screen between it and the frame making it feel like a part of the image(an ugly part especially because the sky sits there if you watch stuff on it...)
Got a chance to own both devices (actually S10+, P30 Pro and OP7 Pro)
Oneplus 7 Pro (overall)
1. 90hz + QHD + Amoled display is the icing on the cake here.
2. The warp charging will definitely makes you think of choosing OP over S10 all day.
3. Superb gaming experience.
4. Battery life still good if not the best among flagship phones available today, I'm seriously getting 7hrs SOT with 90hz and QHD settings and that's more than enough for me given the fact that I can warp charge my 7 pro.
5. Completely full display (notchless/ no pinhole design).
S10 plus
1. Display brightness
2. Lightweight and easy to hold with one (1) hand.
3. Ip68 rating (its good to have this on the next oneplus)
4. 3.5mm jack
5. OneUI customization
6. Wireless charging is good to have but it's no use for me.
If I were to choose:
1. P30 Pro on top (very slight edge over the Oneplus 7 Pro)
2. Oneplus 7 pro
3. S10 plus

Ok got me the oneplus 8 pro on (H3G) UK and well that was a big let down in the camera department and battery life not to mention display issues , anyway within my 14 days I can exchange to pretty much any phone they have so camera is pretty important so I toy'd with idea of p40 pro but without Google was a bit off putting so I decided on the S20 Ultra and well let's say I'm not blown away with the camera on that,
has just been updated and is kinda beta especially auto focus was main issue at the time , so my question is should I while I'm still in my 14 days retun S20 ultra for the P40 pro as s20 ultra 100x zoom is well waste of time I know anything pretty much past 30x is a blurr but over all watching YouTube video although samsung looks more natural colour's the detail of the p40 pro can be slightly better its very subjective in most comparisons I can get over the fact there's no Google but should I switch or stick with the ultra and hope samsung can improve further anybody actually switched from s20 ultra to p40 pro and regret it or are you much happier , I know on paper s20 ultra spec wise display ok 120hz at 1080p isn't ideal but display is beautiful and 12gb ram and stereo speakers and tech better front facing cam ,again subjective . Personally, I'd prefer the P40P and that's not just because it's cheaper and better value depending on how your needs. It's also important to summarize and weigh up the pros and cons for both devices. If you're in the UK with a Exynos CPU, then I'd personally avoid the S20 Ultra altogether due to the hot attention it's been getting for its inferior battery life and CPU performance.
Screen - Samsung (120hz, brighter and higher quality display, no huge pill-shaped punch hole notch)
Battery Life and Charging - Tie IMO (P40P's 5G chipset is more efficient since it has a built-in 5G modem and Huawei tend to be more memory aggressive with closing down background apps). The OPPO Find X2 Pro is very similar to the OnePlus 8 Pro though. They have near identical camera specifications (same main sensor), battery size and screen.
I see it as an overpriced version of a OP8P and with inferior software updates since OnePlus are better at releasing new firmware regularly than both Oppo and Samsung. I wouldn't consider it.

If you're purely after a flexible and strong camera performance across all lens and don't mind losing Google Play Services, the P40 Pro is almost impossible to beat in my opinion. The latest .131 firmware update that just came through about a week ago further improves its shooting performance and it can now take macro shots to an extent (I've posted a few other photos in another thread).
The S20 Ultra with its Exynos chipset is just not worth it. Every user has complained of auto focus issues, poor battery life versus its Snapdragon variant and the price tag has set a lot of expectations for perfection which Samsung couldn't deliver (there's a reason why the S20 series sold 50% less than the S10 series and petitions were started demanding Samsung to answer why they separated these two chipsets across various regions) - I'm not against Samsung but this is a sign that there's problems with this phone. The autofocus issues and its inability to take close-up shots are supposedly being fixed in the Note 20+ though.
The OnePlus 8 Pro on the other hand is the best all-rounder I'd say and I'd choose it over the S20 Ultra any day because the screen is just as good as the S20U, has Snapdragon 865 and not the Exynos and is regularly updated with new firmware (a friend of mine coming from the P30 Pro said it was a nice upgrade). It takes great videos too and is amazing value.

I've had the 8 pro and wasn't at all impressed tbh camrea wasn't good and battery life and screen issues with greys and black looked wrong and washed out are stick with P40 pro I think it has best camera option that I'm after and battery life and optimization is Stella on Huawei's I can always install my bank app on tablet so not a deal braker tbh to hell with trump hopefully once he's out the ban will be lifted ,

OP8P's camera is a solid performer, but it's far from a flagship champion in the photography department in my opinion since the P40P is superior in both hardware and software.
Another reason why The P40P is also great in the battery life department is because there aren't any Google Play Services and other Google-related processes running in the background 24/7. I can disable most of Huawei's app services whenever I want, including their App Store, HiCare, HiSearch and their other apps quickly and easily. Yes, even though the battery capacity is only 4200mAh, Huawei has great RAM management and it's not as bloated anymore with other unwanted apps (at least the global version is pretty clean).
I have both the S20U and P40P, i have to say the Huawei is the better device hardware/software wise i u set it up properly HMS/GMS/ICE BOX. I previously had a P30P and i loved it thought i would go Samsung but honestly they are not top of the crop even if the price is.

I'm really into the Hardware and aesthetic of the phone, and I think the P40 Pro is the best on the market in that aspect. It really feels premium and worth the price. It's the perfect size and weight and the materials are top notch. The Samsungs S20's just don't feel their price which is the first thing that lets it down to me (the Note 10's were much better in that respect).
If you have some patience and are good with technology and can side load GMS on the P40 Pro I'd definitely recommend it. It's the first phone out of the recent flagships that I want to keep for the next 12 months.
Another option I'd suggest is the Oppo Find X2 Pro. ColourOS I actually find I prefer to Oxygen OS. The camera is excellent and the phone feels and looks quality.
Thanks good to hear , yes had p40 lite briefly had issues getting GMS working on that but alot of the vids aimed at the p40 pro gave up with it in the end , hope to have more success with p40 pro just to be on safe side and to get my Google fix I've also ordered a oneplus 8 12GB green so will have the best of both worlds preferred it over the pro having the p40 pro as main camera phone dont see the point in getting another pro as well Roll on Monday and good buy Ultra [emoji3]

After nearly one month of use, I decided to write an initial review of Vivo X50 Pro+. The main reason is that Vivo as a part of the Chinese BBK Electronic concern is the least known brand in the west, and I believe unjustifiably.
There are three brands under BBK - Vivo, Oppo, and OnePlus. While the first two were at the beginning success only in the Indian market, the last one is well known in the west too. In fact, it was intended for the west and OnePlus phones were known to bring the most bang for the buck except for the average camera (supposedly no more).
And even Oppo made a great breakthrough with the last models. Only Vivo is left behind.
So why buying a Vivo phone if you are not from the east? And why buying X50 Pro+ exactly?
There are many good reasons for this. Let’s look at them closely.
Design
Even I have to admit I’m anything but a fan of the curved screen (my dream phone design is the Nokia 9.3 concept (https://www.phonearena.com/news/nokia-9-3-pureview-5g-concept-renders_id124342) I accept the reality for the time being and I really hope that that madness evaporates quickly. The curved screen is unpractical (distortion and false touches around the corner) but at least I managed to improve the phone outfit by buying a nice case for a few euros. I bought a model with the glass back (glass back is the second design failure I’m fed up with it’s heavy and fragile). There is a really stunning X50 Pro+ model with faux camel leather but then, I’m not yet prepared to go naked, exposing the back of the phone and especially all precious cameras to all unpredictable harsh situations. Hence I bought a really nice case instead of having an exceptional designed phone.
Display
OK, the part of the phone design is a display. X50 Pro+ comes with a nice E3 AMOLED panel with DCI-P3 color gamut, supporting 120Hz high refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate, and has a peak brightness of 1300nit It also supports HDR10+. The E3 means that the display adds 8% to energy efficiency and has reduced blue glare. Otherwise, it has vivid full colors and sharp picture, which is well seen even under the direct sun. It has a small unnoticeable hole for the front camera, adjustable refresh rate, automatic brightness control, night mode, and three adjustable manifestations: home screen, lock screen and always-on display. What I miss is a chance to put your email on the lock screen, you know, it might be helpful if you lose the phone.
Camera
It is a while when the Vivo camera has been the last time evaluated on DXO. And I’m yet to try the camera in all its functionality. But I’ve already had a chance to compare the shootings with the Huawei P40 Pro and I have to say that I’m impressed. The main sensor among the four is the GN1 camera of Samsung, which supports Dual PD and Tetracell technology, which has 50 million pixels, a single pixel of 1.2μm. The output is 12.5 million pixels, and the single-pixel is 2.4μm, which increases the light sensitivity by four times. ISOCELL GN1 has Samsung’s pixel isolation technology ISOCELL Plus, which uses a physical barrier to isolate the pixels so that more light is collected by the microlens and then absorbed by the pixel’s photodiode.*The result is higher color fidelity and higher sensitivity, bringing natural tones and shadows to high-resolution photography. There is a 13 megapixel portrait camera, which has an f/2.4 aperture, a focal length of 50mm, and a double zoom. The 8 megapixel sensor offers 5x optical and 60x digital zoom. Panoramic pictures, on the other hand, can be taken with the 8-megapixel wide-angle lens.*On the front side, there is a 32 megapixel front camera, which offers an f/2.4 aperture.
Battery
I must admit, I’m immodest as far as the battery is concerned. I came from the Huawei Mate 20X side, I had a 5mAh battery, I’m not a gamer, rather a surfing addict. But surprisingly I noticed that Vivo manages consumption rather well without compromising performance. I manage through a long day easily, usually, I have enough power for two consecutive days.
Hardware
As you might know, X50 Pro+ uses to date the last SoC of Qualcomm, the SM8250 Snapdragon 865 (7 nm+). My phone comes with the 256GB ROM 12GB RAM UFS 3.1. It is fast, reliable, and smooth. The 4G antennas cover all common world bands (exceptions are band 20 of EU and more exotic US bands - like TM 66, 71, V 13, 46, 48, 66 and ATT 14,29,30,66). It is understandable, the phone is meant for Asian markets. And it supports both SA/NSA 5G frequencies 1, 3, 41, 77, 78, 79. That means that it had to cover the most common 5G specter in EU (where it exist) and one 5G band from Sprint (41) for TM in the USA.
Otherwise, the X50 Pro+ has both VoLTE and WoWiFi enabled and it must support Netflix too (I don’t use it). The nice move from Vivo is Wifi 2.4 and 5 aggregation and smooth switching from wifi to mobile when needed.
Software and customization
As expected X50 Pro+ comes with a lot of Chinese applications hardly usable anywhere else. Most of them could be removed from settings, others are removable (and retrievable) with adb shell pm uninstall --user 0.
After thoroughly removing unwanted apps there are negligible Chinese traces remain. One is, for example, when you get deeper into the weather app, you eventually come to the pure Chinese site. Otherwise, the weather is from the Accuweather and very reliable.
The launcher is not bad even if it is not as polished as Huawei’s. It supports gestures, themes, and customization. For more customization, you have to get a theme editor, which functionality is more limited than Huawei’s one. You can replace the stock launcher with the custom one. I didn’t decide to replace it yet, it has some useful feathers. I want to mention that I prefer stock Calendar, Clock, Weather, Albums over the Google ones. And the overall design is nice, I just wanted material icons, which I prefer smaller though. You have a native voice recorder with the phone and really nice messages application, which I haven’t replaced with Google’s even than the last now got RCS in my country. Not to mention very useful note applications with text, voice, picture options, and even OCR which works surprisingly well with foreign languages.
So why switch from Huawei to Vivo?
I admired Mate 20x in the time of acquisition but after two years I started to believe in the combination of a smaller lighter phone together with a tablet when needed. But that is not the main reason. As we all know Huawei lost GMS support. I guess I could live without the majority of Google applications. But I strongly consider the phone as a tool which should be sufficient to replace payment instruments, cards, tickets, personal documents, and keys. In my opinion, this is the second most important role of phones besides getting information.
And all this is now jeopardized if you possess a Huawei phone. Vivo is a completely different story. The company is not in dispute with the US administration and the X50 Pro+ is completely capable to serve the purpose. Despite poor and misleading knowledge of a vendor I bought it from it has full GMS support and it matches CTS profile completely. Google Assistant works flawlessly as well as Google pay.

Google pay works in stores without any problem.
Regarding VoLTE and VoWiFi I couldn't test it before because my operator doesn't support it. It says next year every year for about 5 years.
I borrowed a sim and try it but I couldn't enable either of them. I need more time to find out why.

So far I like Vivo X50 Pro+ camera but I haven't had much opportunity to test it in all possible circumstances yet. But I did a short comparison between photos taken with the Vivo and those taken with the flagship Huawei P40 Pro. Compared photos are attached, I tried to evaluate them. I'm not a professional photographer but some differences are obvious even for an amateur. But, please, make your own opinion about the results and I'll be glad if someone more skilled than me participates with his (hers) own comment about the results.
So these are my observations:
HV1 - standard cameras were used, Vivo expresses better dynamic range;
HV2 - standard cameras, better Vivo's dynamic range, but a thin cloud covered the sun during the second shot;
HV3 - thin fog in the valley - zoomed pictures, Huawei's camera has a larger zoom;
HV4 - wide shots - pretty equal results;
HV5 - standard cameras - equal results;
HV6 - Wide cameras - equal results;
HV7 - 5X zoom on both cameras - Huawei expresses better dynamic range;
HV8 - close pictures - more vivid colors from Huawei;
HV9 - standard cameras - better dynamic range from Vivo;
HV10 - wide cameras - better dynamic range from Vivo;
HV11 - zoom on both cameras - better dynamic range and sharpness from Vivo;
HV12 - normal shot in almost total darkness - brilliant exposure and sharpness from Huawei;
HV13 - night shot in almost total darkness - brilliant exposure and sharpness from Huawei;
HV14 - normal shot in almost total darkness - brilliant exposure and sharpness from Huawei;
HV15 - night shot in almost total darkness - brilliant exposure and sharpness from Huawei;
HV16- close objects in darkness - brilliant exposure and sharpness from Huawei;
HV18 - semidarkness with the normal shot - brighter but less sharp and with distorted colors picture from Huawei;
HV20 - semidarkness with the night shot - brighter but less sharp, less dynamic range and with distorted colors picture from Huawei;
I must add an explanation:
All pictures are taken on the point and shoot principle. I reckon that I could take a better full dark picture with X50 Pro+ if I would have really tried to keep my hands still that critical seconds when the picture has been developed. Another remark: X50 Pro+'s camera is really fast and that counts a lot, sometimes almost all. This Samsung's GN1 is a brilliant feature, it never made me wait to shoot under the daylight, as Huawei did. Just pointing and shooting, that's it. Maybe occasional lag and consequential shaking make Huawei daylight pictures what they are.
All four X50 pro+'s cameras were done their job taking into account that no phone camera right now is able to compete with Huawei's Leica and AIS configuration in a totally dark environment. I'm truly impressed.

It's Trading Shenzhen ( https://tradingshenzhen.com/en/vivo-x50-pro-x50-pro-x50). Although it is from Hongkong It has a few EU offices, gives warranty (it works, I tried it for Xiaomi tablet), and delivers at least to EU duties free (global shipping) in about 3 weeks.

That issue with VoLTE and VOWiFi - I'm still none the wiser so far...
Maybe someone with more experience could help. All indicators show that it works but actually, it doesn't.
Look at the attached pictures. I used 2 sims, one was mine and it doesn't support either VoLTE or VOWiFi, and the other is my wife's which supports both and has both activated (works with her phone).
And now take a look at settings. With my sim, both VoLTE and VOWiFi settings are missing (case it doesn't support any of them), and with other are shown and activated. The same it is apparent from Secret Phone Settings app.
But the fact is that in both cases when calling, radio falls back from LTE to 3g. Really weird.
I'll try to search Weibo, that's the only possible remaining source of advice that I could remember...

Yeah that is the problem I am having with my vivo nex 3 and there is no support for volte, when I contacted vivo customer service they said that the Chinese rom version was not able to have volte enabled and that is only supported cdma carriers with volte. Thanks for the in-depth look though !!!

I have a few remarks though:
Importing X50 Pro+ is not such hassle;
Audio from mono speaker may not be superior (for mono not bad either) but dedicated hifi chip makes miracle and dominates both via wired and Bluetooth earpieces - in my opinion that's far more important;
Funtouch is far better, customizable and closer to stock than miui - miui on my tablet was so buggy that I was just lucky enough to have a chance to root it and totally replace the system with lineage;
Not to mention Oppo regarding camera, performance and customization - it's significantly behind X50 pro+;
And Xiaomi Ultra camera is not such surplus - check Dxomark analysis;
Huawei is another story but it is right now hit hard with lack of mobile services.

Yes, it works. Yesterday I had opportunity to test 5G on band 41 and it worked. T-Mobile uses this band aquared from Sprint.

Hi guys. I bought an A52 4G for myself a few weeks ago and here is my brutally honest review. As you will see, there are some things I wasn't satisfied with but I needed a phone quickly and for my budget and availability, I thought I'd give Samsung a chance.
Pros
1. Lots of QoL services by Samsung like always on display and apps like Gallery by Samsung can be more useful than Photos by Google. I also mapped the double tap power button to start the flashlight.
2. The 720G chipset along with a 90hz display feels plenty powerful especially for those coming from an older midrange device. However, it's not as fast and instantaneous as stock Android or OxygenOS. Also, you will face lots of stutters and bugs if you enable animation to .5x. At default 1x, animations are too damn slow.
3. Stereo speakers. Sound quality is average though. I don't use it much so I don't care.
4. Water resistance. It's nice of Samsung to bring this feature to a midrange device.
5. The macro camera can be useful for taking pictures of very small items like coins. The selfie camera seems alright.
6. The display, despite having kind of inaccurate colors is actually a lot better looking than most Chinese brand (OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Realme, etc) phone displays. Most Chinese brand displays tend to have a washed out, pale look to them despite having high refresh rates.
7. Battery life is pretty decent. If you don't use it much, it'll last a couple days easily. Of course, battery will degrade over time so a few years later, you might need to change the battery or the phone itself.
Cons
1. Sound quality output through the 3.5mm jack is very bad. My previous phone (Moto G5s Plus) had a much better built-in DAC. But at least the jack is there so I guess it's better than nothing but I'd suggest you get a good type-c to 3.5mm converter and use that instead if you're looking for decent audio.
2. The display isn't bad (the 90hz is definitely an upgrade over 60hz) but the color calibration out of the box by Samsung is very inaccurate and kind of pale. You can switch to "vibrant" mode but it over saturates everything. The saturation is so off the charts that you have no choice but to go back to the pale "natural" mode. Also, the amoled screen can be fatiguing to your eyes. Not everyone faces this but personally I have this problem.
3. The charger provided is really weak. Sometimes I like to use my phone while it's charging. Sadly this charger is too weak to do that and can't keep up. I did have a faster charger from my previous budget moto phone and it does a much better job charging the A52. It would be better if Samsung didn't provide this crappy 15 watt charger and made the phone cheaper so I could buy a 25 watt charger myself. I don't see the logic in this. The phone supports 25 watt charging but Samsung includes a 15 watt charger in the box.
4. The lightly colored matte plastic back looks awesome in the beginning but with some mild use, the colors are already starting to fade and become yellowish. So put a case or skin on it if you wanna preserve that awesome color.
5. The colors and details of the main camera are not very good for an upper midrange device in 2021. I saw some reviews on YouTube with review units provided by Samsung that showed much better camera quality than what I'm getting with my retail unit. Especially after you take a picture, if you zoom in on a person's face for example, the details are just not there. Also, the colors are inaccurate and not life like. Hopefully, someone can make a good GCAM for this phone. Otherwise, expect to live with an average camera.
6. Random spammy apps like Dailyhunt get automatically installed every few days. I set all settings to not update anything automatically but it still does that. I even contacted customer care about this and they couldn't provide any solutions. EDIT: Luckily, it stopped doing this.
7. If the bezels were a bit narrower especially the sides and top, it would have quite a flagship killer look. Even the A51 has narrower bezels on the side. But I know Samsung did this on purpose so their more expensive S series phones would look more special than the A series.
8. It's a bit on the heavier side if you compare it to the A51. Putting a case and tempered glass on it will only increase the weight further. I find myself having to put the phone down on a table or bed to use it. I can't hold it in the air for long due to its weight.
Bugs1. "Force dark mode" option in developer settings automatically turns itself off whenever you restart your device.
2. If you set animation to .5x instead of the default 1x, and cycle through your recent apps, there's a weird stutter.
Conclusion
If you can live with Samsung's annoying OneUI stutters or slow animations, this isn't a bad phone especially if you can get it for around $300 USD. I'd call this a good phone for moms/dads and grandmas/grandpas. If you're a young millennial trying to live on the cutting edge, I'd pass on this one and get something that's a little faster, maybe the new Nord CE (it has a more washed out display than the A52 though).
Well! My phone have just arrived. I'm switching from an S7 edge that I've been using for the last 4 years. So far I find that the screen is pretty good! Better than the S7E. The speed is excellent and of course, the ONE UI 3.1 is superb. I've already uninstalled some unwanted apps. As regards the camera, haven't tested it yet. But obviously, the GCAM will make it better.

Of course it'll be better than a 4 year old phone lol. If you think one UI is superb, try using stock android or oxygenos, you will be blown away.
I got A72 and the picture quality coming out from the stabilized Sony IMX 686 sensor with pixel binned 16 MP pictures is superior to Samsung HM2 108 MP giving just 12MP images ... So is A52, I don't believe your "honest review" ....

A72 is not A52. Specs are one thing, software is another. You don't have to believe anything. As I said in my review, you should experience the phones in person preferably from friends who bought it and then make a decision.

Griping about it being water resistant is really picking at nits. It adds little cost and help to seal out dust, extending the usable service life of the device.
Charging a phone while using isn't a good idea and it should charge slow whilst using regardless of the wattage capacity of the charger brick being used.

They say that whenever a new phone comes out. Of course the people who are gonna upgrade from a 5 year old phone will also say this is the best phone they ever used. From their perspective, it makes sense but I believe you should thoroughly research the market and only buy what YOU like the most. I was moving to another country where phones are quite expensive so I just grabbed this cause I was in a hurry. If you have the time, research other phones and try to use them in person. That way you will know for sure what you're getting because specs can be misleading. I'd suggest you look into Poco F3, OnePlus Nord, Moto G100, Moto G60 and other similarly priced devices before going for the A52. Don't assume that just because it's a Samsung, it's gonna be a great phone. Samsung intentionally nerfed this phone so there is more incentive for people to go for the more expensive S series phones.

To be frank, this device has received overwhelming amounts of good press, which, as a consumer, is a good thing.
That said, constructive criticism is a key component towards improving upon future A series models and/or polishing the current user experience.

The Samsung Fold series always get rave reviews but they're expensive, fragile and limited devices. Worse I'm being kind in my criticism.

I agree with this, although I prefer it for the occasional media consumption. For general usage, it might lead to some eye strain for some people which includes me.
The build despite plastic is decent enough considering the trade-offs with its other specs at this price point and an IP6X is always welcome. The camera is nothing spectacular but not bad, given that it's harder to quantify the expected degrees of quality per $ at this price range. Performance is fine for the majority of the time but there are occasional stutters or lag you will encounter. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. It's also worth noting that warranty and software support tend to get overlooked when looking at the price.
I was considering Poco F3 as an alternative before getting my A52 however, I didn't go through with the Poco F3 because of various issues and concerns that I can't be arsed to list.
This phone is on my list to upgrade from my Essential PH-1. Keeping an eye on ROM development and Gcam development. I can get it for around $354 depending on the COP to USD conversion rate in Colombia. Anyone know better deals out in the wild?

Well, I will answer this from the perspective of an Indian Millenial coming from Mi A2 (and having only used crappy Micromax and Redmi phones in the past, this is something which I think most Indian youth can relate to). Let's go point by point :
1. UI
Having used stock android and MIUI, I can confidently say that OneUI is definitely a bit clumsy, but it is easy to get used to compared to FuncTouch and MIUI. Also, *there is no Google dialer*, meaning you can safely do call recording. Also OneUI has "Link to Windows" baked right into it, which is a huge boon in my opinion as it kinda compensates for the lack of DeX support, I think this is one of the most underrated feature of Samsung phones.
2. Ads and Bloatware scene
Now this maybe specific to India only. I set the device up using GeekyRanjit's guide on "How to setup Samssung devices" on YT, and so far (1 month later) I have got no ads except wallpaper services message when I swipe from right on lock screen. Also, all bloatware can be either disabled or uninstalled (unlike MIUI and ColourOS), so no problem there. Overall it is much much better than Redmi, Poco and Realme offerings. Though here Oneplus NORD maybe better.
3. Camera
TBH I bought this phone for the camera, and consider the competition it did not let me down, sure there is a bit of over sharpening going on in most images and indoor/low light photos and videos have a ton of noise but considering the competition in 15k-25k INR, it is definitely better. I use Gcam 7.3.018 by Urynx05, and it does improve video stabilisation a lot thanks to OIS (only Oneplus NORD has OIS in this price). For night mode, stock night mode is better than night sight (much brighter and well balanced). Daylight pics, it is a mixed bag, macro camera is good but could have been better,but considering how rarely it is used, it is fine.
4. Display
Most Indian milllenials like me are currently upgrading from LCD to Amoled. I having never used an Amoled, am satisfied with the display. But yeah you are right Amoled displays do cause more eye fatigue than LCD.
5. Availability and Customer support
This is where this phone shines! Here in India, this phone is available like everywhere, in most mobile shop in any market no matter, how small or rural the area, this unfortunately is not the case for OnePlus and Redmi, POCO (infamous for flash sales and black-marketing)etc., thus Galaxy A52's actual competitors are phones from Vivo and Oppo, which are usually more pricey. Also, Samsung customer services is next to Apple.
Set your priorities before buying a phone and you won't be disappointed, my suggestion, if you want good camera hardware and reliable phone go for it, but if you want to do gaming I would suggest you to look elsewhere say iQOO Z3 for 20k INR.
