Worth switching from Samsung Galaxy S7 (Exynos Version) to Blu Vivo X?

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S7 (Exynos Version) and been thinking of switching to the Blu Vivo X for the 4010+ mah battery, 64gb internal storage, and 4 cameras. Both phone has 4 GB and rams and an Octacore CPU. The Blu Vivo X is currently more than a $100 less than the Samsung Galaxy S7 (Exynos Version).
What's your thought on the Blu Vivo X and would it be worth switching to it from a Samsung Galaxy S7 (Exynos Version), even though the Blu Vivo X uses a 720p screen, and Blu has been known for having adwares in their phones in the past?

My thoughts (which are only MY thoughts, I'm not pretending to have the absolute truth):
- Blu Vivo X has a mediatek CPU which isn't at the same level as Exynos or Snapdragon CPU, still it will do the job.
- Blu is know for adware but is also known for having malwares installed
- 4010mAh battery, I would be very careful with that number. A high quality manufacturer will announce the capacity of their battery and you can almost be sure that it is true. Now, when you go to less known, less top quality manufacturers, when they say 3000mAh, you test the battery and it's in fact like a 2000mAh. So before making a choice, find concrete tests which tells you how much time you have with a full charge. Don't listen to people on Youtube with no test protocol who say "Yeah, I can last 2 days with it" because you can't know their perception of things, you can't know if they have been paid, you can't know what they do with their phone. If I turn off Wifi, LTE, and keep the screen of on my OnePlus One, I can last 1 week! Now if I use it normally, I last 1 day, 2 days at the most, but real screen on time is like 6 hours. So be careful and don't trust fanboys or people who just throw numbers like this.
About battery capacity, I give you an example I have read some years ago when Xioami released their external battery pack (10.000mAh). When tested, it was almost good but more around 9000mAh. They had compared to unknown brands found on Amazon, and some batteries announced like 10.000mAh, had in fact less than 5000mAh in capacity. So be careful, Blu isn't such a great highly recommended trusty manufacturer, so I would tend to think their numbers are enhanced for the commercial speech, but in real like, will a 4000mAh battery last a lot longer than a 3000mAh from Samsung, I doubt it.
So in the end, what do you think you will do with the Vivo X than you can't do with the Galaxy S7? That's the real question. You want more storage space? The Exynos version of the S7 has a SD card slot. More battery, better buy an external battery pack, it will cost you less.
That's my point of view, I would never trade a flagship from a very well known brand some model from a brand known for cheap phones and who put Mediatek processors in their phones. I highly doubt that the Blu Vivo X will have internal memory that has the same speed as a Galaxy S7, I highly doubt the pictures from the Vivo X would beat the S7, I also highly doubt you will have more "Screen on time" with a Vivo X as Samsung has spent time to optimize their system (you can also debloat it to gain battery life by removing all Samsung crapware). That's only my point of view, but I don't think it's a good idea. You should make your own idea by reading LOT (not just 1 or 2) reviews on the Blu Vivo X, watching videos on Youtube and read between lines, don't trust people that aren't even tech journalists ; )

The system response was slower than what I'm used to and the UI just feels "cheap" to me. On a brighter note, the front camera was awesome for using Google Duo to talk to my son while I'm on the road. Its not a bad phone, I just feel like my S7 is a better phone."

Pros:
- The screen is big but you don't get a big phone. I've strayed away from 6" because I'm a little person, but I quite like holding this because it's skinny enough that small hands can hold it and also enjoy a "big boy" screen.
- It's smooth. It's definitely faster and more smooth than my last phone (HTC Desire Eye). Installing apps is lightning fast, scrolling through google is a breeze, and having multiple apps in the background doesn't slow it down.
- Sound quality is quite good. It's bass-y, which I like. It picks up the slightest noise though, which could be great or bad depending on the situation I guess. It goes quite loud as well.
- Plenty of storage. You'll be able to fit thousands of photos, songs, and quite a lot of apps onto this phone.
- Fingerprint scanner is awesome. I've never had a phone that did this, so it's kind of fun.
- Messaging notification drop-down is AMAZING. I LOVE this feature. I was pleasantly surprised when someone texted me and I was able to read/reply from the drop-down, all while staying on whatever page.
- You can do split-screen. I think it depends on the app though. In theory, it's great that you can have two pages up at a time.
- Android nougat is so nice. I had Android 5.0 with my last phone. Upgrading to 7 is definitely what I needed, and hoping for an update to Android 8 in the next year, maybe?
- The actual feel of the phone is high-end. It feels like a top-rated phone, but without the pricetag.
- All of Google's apps come already installed. I personally don't use many of Google's features, so luckily it's easy to remove them and add some extra storage to the phone.
- It came with a screen protector already on, an extra screen protector in the box, and a case as well! It also came with the standard charging accessories and some earbuds.
- Fast startup/reboot. The initial startup is a bit slow and worrisome, but it's just the one time as it gets itself ready for you! After that, turning it on is quick.
Cons:
- The camera. So many problems with it. I'll go into detail at the end of this post. This is the biggest obstacle holding me back from possibly sticking with this. My last phone had a superb camera that was clear, could focus on micro surroundings, adjusted perfectly to light... And this camera fails in all those areas.
- The resolution IS as advertised. No you won't be getting the clearest of words on your screen, but it's passable. It's noticeable if you switch from a better resolution phone like I did though.
- The lack of cases is strange, I must admit. Hopefully some more come out soon.
- No theme, at least not that I could tell. I think all of my past Androids of recent years have had an option for different interface themes. This doesn't seem to have this feature.
- I couldn't access ANY ringtones/notification alerts. I had to download a ringtone app.
- 14GB of my 64GB was already taken up. I can't figure out what's taking up so much space. I've gotten rid of any bloatware (luckily wasn't a lot, so great job, BLU), but 14 is still a lot.

I'd love to give it 5 stars, but there's just one thing that's so jarring to me, and I don't understand it at all... When you use your camera (back and front), the window on your screen is crisp and beautiful (back is, front is lackluster). But when you go to look at the image, it's blurry. It's like it goes from the supposed 13MP+, down to maybe an 8MP (at best) once the picture is actually taken. I'm pretty miffed at this. I mean, really, the camera specs are a lie.
To go along with the camera, it also has a hard time focusing on things close to it. For example, selfies are a joke. You get that perma-airbrushed look even without the beauty filter on. I have freckles, but you can't see them in the photos. Some different camera apps make the clarity and focusing a bit better, but you'd more than likely have to deal with obnoxious ads unless you want to pay for a different camera app.

Overall, I'm not exactly happy with it, but I'm not mad either. I really wish the camera was better. I switched from a 2014 phone which excelled in that area, so it's sort of hard to downgrade after spending a couple hundred bucks. I did upgrade in many areas which is nice though. I sort of want to return the item, but I might keep it. Luckily I'm not a huge selfie taker, so I may not care too much about the problem a week from now."
So all in all, I've also read some reviews from tech websites, the Vivo X seems to be a good phone FOR THE PRICE. So if I were you, I wouldn't expect a 250$ phone to have the same quality of components of a 700$ phone. Mediatek processor, Only Gorilla glass 3, LCD screen not Amoled, Camera with only "ok quality". If you extrapolate, that can give you an hint of the quality of the internal memory, of the quality of the RAM used, the quality of the GPS chip (will it fix your position as fast as a S7? Don't know, but I doubt it).
To me, your question is similar as saying "I have a Ford Mustang, is it worth switching to a "add name of any common cheap car" ?" You see what I mean?

No way!!! Why you would do that? It`s more like a downgrade.. If you really want a change, something stock, more storage, more ram, quickly software updates and maybe a better battery backup, you can change the s7 for a OnePlus 5T, or simply you can wait for OnePlus 6 which is launching in june..

Yes it's true, these are the best alternative to my point of view too, but the only thing is that it's not on the same budget level (250$ for the Blu Vivo X and 500$ or more for the OnePlus phones). Though, you summed up all I said very well, S7 to Vivo X is a downgrade.

On some levels Id say OP7 pro is better for sure. Faster internal storage, faster overall user experience, faster updates, no camera hole, 90 hz screen. Its definitely cheaper as well if that matters
But the cameras (front and rear) won't match the S10, no external storage, only 256gb of internal storage compared to 512 and 2tb on S10. No wireless charging, no IP rating (bucket of water hardly counts) lol.
It will certainly not destroy the S10 that's for sure.

Samsung wins in the camera department by far

Yes I agree, The camera part of the Oneplus is a bit weak compare to the S10 series.

TL;DR: Go for OnePlus 7 Pro. Easy choice.
Personally I think Samsung's flagship devices are a waste of money. Before you read on! I'm not fully updated on all of what I'm going to complain about, so it might've changed!
To me, Samsung has nothing unique to offer, yet their devices are almost as expensive as an iPhone. Which in my opinion is insane. Samsung offers a ****ty version of Android that looks **** (think it actually looks better now than it did before), full of bloat; it doesn't even let you uninstall Instagram. Personally I'm not a huge fan of their self-made apps either. In my opinion, it would be better to spend that money on an iPhone, which at least offers something unique (being iOS).
When it comes to OnePlus. They seem to have a great vision when it comes to how they do things. One of the things I really like with them, is that you're allowed to root the phone, and you won't void warranty. Though, to lots of people, rooting isn't very major. However, their version of Android is very nice. It is close to stock Android, has close to no bloat. The bloat that it has, you can uninstall (with root). Their hardware is very nice, and now more than ever with their new OnePlus 7 Pro (OP7P). Then the price you pay is less than any other phone with same specs.
When it comes to camera, there might be better options. However, OP7P has a very decent camera, and when someone ports the Pixel camera app to work on OP7(P), it will (probably) improve the camera greatly.

I own both the 7 Pro and the S10+
This is coming from someone who hasn't owned a Samsung since the Note 4 and has owned almost every OnePlus device.
While the 7 Pro is a really good phone the S10+ is just better. The only things better on the 7 Pro is the screen scrolling, OnePlus gestures (best Android gestures hands down), UFS 3.0 storage, and screen off gestures.
The fingerprint reader is faster on the 7 Pro but the fingerprint reader on S10+ works when your fingers are wet, and you don't need to wake the screen to use it.
I do like the size of the 7 Pro (I like bigger phones) but in-hand the S10+ feels better, 7 Pro is thicker than the S10+.
Samsung's new One UI is nothing like the old Touchwiz. The S10+ has so many customization option it's not even funny. I have found no reason to want to root the S10+ (coming from someone who has rooted every single phone they have owned).
7 Pro camera is ok but the camera on the S10+ is good if not great (not Pixel great).

I had the s10 and returned it. The finger print sensor on it was not working consistently. Samsung has too much bloatware for me and didn't see a major difference from my pixel 2 xl. Only good thing about Samsung is Samsung pay. Op 7 so far I'm loving it. It depends on what you are looking for. I don't really care for camera and I'm not worried about getting some water on the phone. Also i don't use wireless charging. The specs on op7 are ridiculous for the price. Plus op7 will get the latest updates including Q faster than Samsung phones.

OP7 is water proof though, they just didn't care to pay for the IP-certification.

I have the ceramic 10+ it is lovely but I will say that the 7 pro looks terrific, Oxygen OS and the fast updates are tempting and I am not expecting Q anywhere near the 10+ until 2020. The camera edge is probably still just with the 10+ and the expandable storage too but other than that the 7 pro is a compelling package for sure, well almost…..
….For me though an always on display and wireless charging are important features, I could probably do without wireless charging but with them marketing it as a pro model it really should have been included IMO. As for the always on display with so many OEMs offering this now that there is no reason for me to consider OP until they do too. I get that some people do not rate this feature but me it has fast become a must-have.

How does the 10+ camera compare to your Pixel 2 XL? I've just come from a Pixel 2 XL to the 7 Pro and the difference is huge, there is a lot of hope riding on GCam turning this camera around - i've got a 15 day window to return the 7 Pro and it will be going back if there isn't progress on the camera front (and then possibly going the S10+ route if the camera is any better).

Well the main sensor is pretty good on the 7 pro, we don't know about the other sensors (wide, tele) though. It might get better in the future, because the main sensor is pretty good and the weakest part seems to be the software for now. Also, you can't film with the wide angle lens on the 7 pro, and we don't know if that will be possible in the future. That's the reason why I will wait 1 more month until I decide which phone I will buy. The worst case: I have to wait until Google releases their pixel 4 because I can't stand the design of the pixel 3 XL.

I have the S10+ and have a OP7 in the box right now, probably switching over.
S10+ still lags if not rebooted every couple of days for me.
Exynos camera is meh and so is standby time.
I like the S10 but it didn't live up to the hype, want a phone I don't have to baby
Snapdragon is a different story from what I've read
The OS and notchless screen are huge selling points for me.
Won't really miss wireless charging too much, don't use the SD slot as I have 2 Sims.

Agree, being shortchanged with the exynos has left a sour taste this year.
I'm just not sure I could lose an AOD, especially as the is no led. I tried before and it bugged the hell out of me. I am though still very tempted!

S10 is more versatile but the main camera in the 2xl is imo better.

I caved and purchased the OP 7pro so now have both and 2 weeks in and I am conflicted on the OP7 vs the S10+.
The OP is a beast and I have found it more of a burden to carry and use than my S10+, it also makes an iPhone Xs max look small! I have also missed the always on display, wireless charging a little but no big deal. I’d also say that outside the extra brightness of the Samsung makes it easier to see, again no biggy. I prefer pretty much everything else about the OP7 Pro though and one thing I have noticed (and have posted this over on the S10 forum) is how much better the radio performance is on the OP7, I think this may be more down to the S10+ being bad than the OP7 being really good but at my work for example the S10 clings to 1 bar of 4G and often drops to 3G whereas the OP7 is rock solid on 3 or 4 bars of 4G all day. I have also installed Gcam and it works really well.
I won’t comment too much on the FPS, both work ok with the OP being quicker and the S10 being maybe more convenient on account of not having to wake the screen first. I do though still prefer a rear mounted sensor like the Pixel which is IMO just a better, quicker and easier option.
Re the AOD I read that OP have said they are working on this but are still citing battery concerns, given how good and polished oxygen OS is I just do not get why OnePlus are finding it so hard to provide a proper always on display? Lots of other OEM’s have managed it, LG even managed it on an LCD screen. Anyway fingers crossed they are at least on the case now.
So overall it is a seriously good device, I do though wish it was just not quite so big.

Why does it have to be unique, I don't care about that? I care about it being a good phone, a well rounded one at that. It's hard to pack a lot of features into a cheaper phone, and often results in some corner cutting and that's what happened. The pop up camera is a DISASTER and all over China one plus has had to offer an apology and a slightly extended warranty, I'd never trust that and it collects a whole lot of dust around the top of the camera port when sitting in your pocket and such, regardless of the waterproof red ring on the top.
One UI is great, I bought the s10+ and never received Instagram, and not much bloatware at all, oneUI has almost no issues besides Bixby, which Samsung even lets you disable. OneUI has been garbage, but its great in this new phone, just look at what most reviewers have to say. The s10+ is way more well rounded then the op7 pro, which has some standout features but some pitfalls top. 90HZ is great but still isn't a huge difference and the battery life is quite poor on the OP 7 pro, I went to t-mobile and didn't notice much of a difference if at all, I did notice a difference with the 120hz razor phone though, maybe if you slow the phone down by 5x the 90 hz will have a big difference.
And you're acting like iPhones are a similar value, the hardware of iPhones in general doesn't even compare to Samsung, they're GARBAGE. Unlocked right now is a s10+ and a XR for around the same price, 880p LCD vs 1440p 4k OLED display, 18 watt vs 5 watt charger, 4100 mah battery vs 3200 mah, wide angle + telephoto lens, no giant notch and a bigger screen, slightly curved edges, headphone Jack, expandable storage, way more ram AND storage. Gtfo saying these phones are close in that regard, apple is only for iOS, why would you rather buy an iPhone. Without nova launcher, Samsung offers LOADS of customization. Also real world pricing is 29$ for a OP 7 pro a month with t-mobile which is the only seller in the US, sprint is 25$ for a s10+ with upgrade plan and all, which makes a lot more sense then spending way more to buy a phone outright vs only paying half price then upgrading to the latest and greatest phone of your choosing, keep in mind most people use carrier plans so this is the more realistic example. Oh and no wireless charging with the OP 7 pro, IP rating, headphone Jack, expandable storage, etc.

Galaxy S10 plus vs Oneplus 7 Pro

Been a Samsung user since the the original note 3. I owned only OnePlus phone, aka OnePlus 1. It was fast back then and still is useable for me with custom rom. Now, current I own a note 5, I have it for almost 4 years now. Its getting slow even with a custom rom. There is not much support for the note 5 either, specially t mobile note 5. So my question is should I go with the Galaxy S10 plus or the OnePlus 7 Pro? S10 plus are listed for 750$ (8gb,128gb,unlocked). The OnePlus 7 Pro is also 750 unlocked with the best possible spec from OnePlus (256gb,12gb, unlocked). Money is not an issue for me to be honest, but I don't want to overpaid (weird). Which is better and your reason for choosing one over the other. Or .... Should I wait for the note 10? I know it's gonna be a beast :laugh:

honestly, I guess it comes down to personal preference.
i.e. Samsung is more feature packed but more locked down. OP is more dev friendly, if you'd like to play with modding and custom roms
Owning an s9+ for a couple of years, I enjoy some of the Samsung features, but could live without:
- water proofing - dunked the phone in water 3 times only: can't use the screen properly and that's a shame, also the speakers get muzzled and you get that annoying device is wet notification - better skip (the photos aren't that great either unless you're in a clear-water swimming pool)
- wireless charging - definitely cool feature, it's useful for me because I can charge the Iphone 8 with the same charger, but I use it mainly at night when placing the phone on the stand. It's too slow still. I definitely missed my OP5T charging speed when switching to Samsung, I literary changed charging habits with DASH
- micro-sd slot - never used it. I find popping out the tray to be an overkill. With cloud I don't see the point transferring videos (those are the storage eaters) over cable anymore. Or files for that mater. I use solid explorer and do my transfers via FTP server on my home wi-fi
- headphone jack - I guess I've used it only once. I find wired stuff cumbersome honestly and sacrificed some quality for comfort, even for home speakers. I listen to music everyday and it's nice to have two devices connect to the same headphones over BT
There's more to be discussed here, but you should really take a close look to your lifestyle, how your day goes by and match each device to that. You will certainly get your answer

Strong dev support.. Still own 3T with rom support even after 3 years. Also the oneplus pushes updates till date.
Pricing - U get premium device for good deal..

I'm really liking the new OnePlus 7 Pro, but I heard from the reviewers that with 90hz on, ur battery life won't last through a day. That refresh is one of the reasons I ant to buy the device. Been using 144hz monitor, so using phone with 60hz is not the best experience. I hope there will be more after market battery case, the current one for Oneplus device looks horrible. Custom is definitely a plus. To be honest the only reason for me to get s 10 or note 10 is good custom rom support, but right now, OnePlus 7 Pro looks so good to pass. With the cameras, I have to say still no where close to the pixel, but hope there will be a gcam version for it.

I have been using my op7p for a week now. Comparing to my gf s10 plus, I have to say the screen on the s10 plus is way over the 7pro, except the 90hz. Indoor usage, the brightness level for both phone is about the same; however, when it comes to using the phone under direct sunlight, the 7p falls behind. That the only thing I hope OnePlus will improve and the camera....., even my note 5 at max brightness is still usable under sun light. Everything else is great on the 7p. So worth it.

I still have both.
The ceramic S10 feels nicer in the hand and is noticeably easier to one-hand.
Always on display and wireless charging are big plusses
Both screens are great but if you pushed me I'd give the advantage to the Samsung.
I way prefer oxygen os over one UI, and there is a degree of comfort knowing you get the updates quicker, OP are very active in this regard
The OP7 pro is faster across the board at pretty much everything.
I find I get better and more reliable 4g and wifi performance on the OP. Starting to think my S10+ (exynos) may have something wrong with the radios.

I got rid of the OnePlus 7 Pro after 7 days of usage:
1. 90hz RR just disappears at most usages(there is a workaround using adb to enable 90 Hz RR but keeping at a fixed 90 Hz further dents on battery life).
2. The curves are rather deep (reminded me the curves of Galaxy s6 edge, s7 edge, s8+ that I didn't like)- my earlier Note 9 and current s10+'s less curvy & squarish design feel better to avoid accidental touches(& typing letters p, q, etc.) and reflection under artificial lighting conditions.
-3. Under sunlight, the s10+'s screen is way more legible. It's occasional to have such usage, but when it does , it does matter.
4. Like the notchless display, but at the cost of a pop-up camera that accumulates dust and debris in the compartment- that doesn't retract entirely by the time it touches ground dropping from a weist height/table is not something I appreciate.
5. It's heavy and big ,becomes uncomforfortable for my liking to talk for longer period of time. I was not happy with the weight of 512 gigs S10+ especially when talking for an hour or so daily, hence swapped to a 128 gigs version(175gms) that feels just right. At 206 gms+the weight of a case, I found the 7 Pro way more uncomfortable to use in 1 week of my of usage.
6. No IP rating counts. No company offers warranty for liquid damaged units even with IP rating but they do so bcoz they do not know how long the user kept in water- for 30 mins, 30 hours or for days, for 1 meter deep, 2 meters or was in salt water... But with an official IP rating it's a peace of mind. You can dunk a certified IP67/68 rated smartphone in a swimming pool without thinking twice but you can't with the 7 Pro with a fear of damaging it. For light rain or splash- 7 Pro is fine, so does most of the non-IP certified smartphones now a days with zero advertising of "bucket-test" by the manufacturer itself.I do not like a smartphone that often accumulates dust. To users like me, ingress protection matters.
7. Why have a glass back on when no wireless charging ? Probably even OnePlus does not know.
8. OOS 9.5.7 improved the camera but it still has focusing issues in low light and macro, and wide angle cam can't be used for video yet- These are nitpicky and might get resolved with future updates.
(OOS 9.5.8 is out but I couldn't get the chance to check it).
Overall the 7 Pro failed to impress me to be my daily driver even after having some strong "+ve" sides.

First world problems lol. Most of your cons are personal preference and also based on aesthetics. Only thing i can agree with slightly is the wireless charging. It wouldn't make sense to get wireless charging that gets you full battery in 2.5 or 3 hours over warp charge in an hour or less(?). Camera is OK, i'll take the 7 pro over the overly done beauty shot in selfie mode and over saturation on the s10. There also has been tests to see if the 7 Pro is water resistant, plenty of videos on youtube and insurance is optional on the phone which do cover drops, spills and cracks. Heaviness of the phone... i like it, better than the lightweight of the s10. Maybe the next one will impress ya.

Don't really care about the weight ? I need more battery, so I ordered a battery case to run 90hz full time. You can tweak it. The rest really depends on your need and personal references.

One can easily find an international Samsung Galaxy S10+ within 50-60 dollars price difference. When you compare side-by-side (features, specifications, and aesthetics), S10+ beats OP7 Pro hands down. The biggest strength of OP branding was to provide customers speed at a reasonable price. With negligible price difference why would you even buy OP7 Pro?
Oh, did I mention the almost useless OP customer service? I could not get my OP6T repaired through OP d/t horrible customer service. I am a firm believer you get what you pay for.
If the OP7 Pro price was capped under $600, then the value proposition would have given OP7 an advantage. Again, just my personal opinion, your mileage may vary.

Where I live the s10 plus is about the same price as the 12gb model op7p. I used student discount to buy the op7p so it is cheaper. Both are new and unclocked, but you get more ram storage higher refresh rate with the 7. The software is also better on the 7. Everytime I use a Samsung device, I have to flash custom rom to get the most out of it. Sometime, developer abandoned the project and the rom never get updated. The s10 plus beats the 7 outdoor visibility which I really wish the op7p would get to 1000 nits and the camera (opinion), depends on what you prefer. Samsung used to be great, beefy spec, newest technology, but they rather selling components to other companies to make more money than use it for their own products. If the note 10 comes with 90hz or higher, I would drop my money for it, but we all know too well that it won't. The question I asked before buying is why would I get 60hz? When the 90hz is way better. It's night and day difference.

I traded my 512gb S10 plus for the 12/256GB oneplus 7 pro and I think both phones are great. I think the only thing the s10 did better was to quickly adjust to the surrounding light. I often find myself adjusting the brightness level of my OP7P as it is often too dim and too slow to ramp up the nits. Other than that I'm quite happy with it. Until the Note 10 pro that is?

Fast charging and wireless charging have nothing to do with one another, lol. The convenience if wireless charging is not having to plus something in. So much nicer to just set something down and let it charge. It's not meant to be a fast wireless charger. If u wanted to charge faster, I'd plug it in, lol. Like the Huawei. It's got wireless charging and fast wired. Two separate solutions for two separate problems. One doesn't trump the other. The Galaxy phones have a quick wired charging so it's not super slow if you needed some juice. But the OnePlus has NO (zilch, zero, nada) option for wireless charging.

I immediately eliminate any phone with a notch from my list. I thought thanks to new hole in display Samsung phones I would keep my note 9 until they release phones without which may not be for another 2 years. No thanks to 7 pro with its 6.7 inch no notch display I got the upgrade itch. Why anybody would buy a notched phone is beyond me. What a stupid idea. Imagine your TV having a notch . 7 pro out selling s10 in China and people have spoken.

Despite the speed of the processor and the fluidity of the 90 hz display, the 6GB OnePlus 7 Pro retains the same disastrous problem from it's predecessor - pathetic RAM management. The stock phone app hangs! Other apps hang too, but the hung phone app on a Rs.49,000 phone is unacceptable under any yardstick or scale.
Summary: A high end phone with a hung phone app is what the latest 6GB model of OnePlus 7 Pro is. None of the PVR cinema ads or online hype makes no mention of the reality that it cannot meet the bare minimum requirement of a smartphone - a working stock phone application. That's all this review is all about. If you don't have time, you can leave it here.
If you want the numbers continue reading. 85% of RAM is always used up, that is without opening a single RAM heavy app. Spoke to Amazon tech support and OnePlus support. All they could do is show me where to find the list of apps consuming the memory (which show average memory use over a period of time, not live data). I had to uninstall many essential apps (none of them are games or have heavy graphics) significantly reducing the value of my OnePlus device. Wonder why they don't show the live data? the RAM management that's shockingly bad. Installed 2 professional diagnostic tools to check (one of them advised by Amazon tech support) and the RAM used under below average load conditions was 85% (after uninstalling RAM heavy apps.) This probably has to do with overclocked processing. Flightradar24 is an app I cannot do without, as a frequent flyer. It's RAM heavy according to OnePlus. I now run it on a cheap backup from Xioami phone (which by the way costs 1/10 that of the OnePlus 7 Pro). Same with Uber, bank apps and financial market tracker apps, which did not have any problems running on my previous device - Samsung S10 plus. I gave it away. At least it was far lighter and reliable than OnePlus. Oh OnePlus has a fancy 90Hz display and fast fingerprint reader, the effects of which wear off in the 1st week of use. When reality dawns, half a lakh of cash is gone. The display or fingerprint reader cannot compensate for a hung phone app.
The conclusion is - the phone like a caged lion, struggles within the bars of it's limited RAM. It gives off the sensation of unreliability. The slippery smooth glass combined with the tablet-heavy phone reduces reliability further. It requires a minimum of 8GB, if not more in the long run.
The worse part is Oneplus cannot do anything. And Amazon cannot replace is as the stock apps getting stuck on account of insufficient RAM is a technical issue and not one that warrants a replacement of device. Again, OnePlus is not Samsung. BEWARE.
Batterylife? Forget 90 hz Even when kept at 60 hz fulltime it's lower than the exynos model of samsung gs10 plus. This is a fact, I KNOW because just before this Oneplus I used gs10 plus for three months in a raw.
Lemme tell about outdoor visibility :-- It plain SUCKS. Due to my job commitment I stay outdoors many a times. And I end up finding shades to see what's in the screen LMAO. It's 2019 for God's sake Oneplus. Poor minimal nits was intentional to keep batterylife in control is what oneplus did with the best of my thinking. No option to choose 90 hz in settings as it would eat up battery like an elephant drinking water. Oneplus already clarified that. More bigger battery means more height,width,length and weight than that it already is, so didn't. Very nice move.
The oneplus has a specific audience =>> college/highschool going students who love consuming media non- stop and happy playing PUBG and other games, keep in watching movies, browse social media, comment, recharge and repeat. Definitely does not look like made this keeping corporates in mind. I'm repenting for not doing enough research before buying this. Learnt a lesson and selling this in OLX. Forgive me who have read this far but did not like it at all for me not at all knowing how fast, no notch , yada yada great of a phone this oneplus is.

I had to decide between the s10+ and 7 pro as the 10+ was just 25$ more. I chose 7 pro because it was impossible for me to cope with the pill, I find it worse than a notch just because it has screen between it and the frame making it feel like a part of the image(an ugly part especially because the sky sits there if you watch stuff on it...)

Got a chance to own both devices (actually S10+, P30 Pro and OP7 Pro)
Oneplus 7 Pro (overall)
1. 90hz + QHD + Amoled display is the icing on the cake here.
2. The warp charging will definitely makes you think of choosing OP over S10 all day.
3. Superb gaming experience.
4. Battery life still good if not the best among flagship phones available today, I'm seriously getting 7hrs SOT with 90hz and QHD settings and that's more than enough for me given the fact that I can warp charge my 7 pro.
5. Completely full display (notchless/ no pinhole design).
S10 plus
1. Display brightness
2. Lightweight and easy to hold with one (1) hand.
3. Ip68 rating (its good to have this on the next oneplus)
4. 3.5mm jack
5. OneUI customization
6. Wireless charging is good to have but it's no use for me.
If I were to choose:
1. P30 Pro on top (very slight edge over the Oneplus 7 Pro)
2. Oneplus 7 pro
3. S10 plus

Compared to the Pixel 4/xl this just feels like a downgrade, even to the Pixel 3xl it's no real upgrade. Most people who think budget will not turn to this phone and the highend-spenders will not be pleased by this. I don't see googles angle hear, however they haven't shown any good angle recently anyway. And the heck did they remove the neural core? Plus getting a weaker soc.. just madnes.

Apparently neural core made face unlock work quicker so no loss there.
About the only thing I would prefer is higher ppi but I sure don't want to spend $1000 to get it.
My next phone will be 5G so pixel 4/xl aren't an option.
If it's not enough bang for the buck then just wait for black Friday and/or opt for the 4a 5G.
Google phones have never been the best phone for everyone.

Most likely the machine learning Ai stuff is included in the snapdragon 765 so no more dedicated chip is necessary. I would not worry too much

For a flagship (which it isnt). It sucks.

Sure, we technically don't know what the battery life will be but just knowing a little bit about phone hardware and some common sense indicates that the battery life should be pretty good.
The biggest battery drain on any phone is the screen mainly due to the screen resolution. So take the Pixel 4 XL for example. The battery life wasn't too bad but not great either. Now increase the size of the battery 10%, decrease the number of pixels by 42%(that alone is huge), decrease the overall screen area by 11%, add in a slightly more power efficient processor, remove Soli and remove face unlock and you basically have the Pixel 5. The only thing really working against the Pixel 5 in terms of battery life is the 5G which I'm going to turn off anyways. I have no concerns about the battery life of the Pixel 5.

The more interesting comparison is to the 4a. A significant price difference but both are a similar size and real world performance would be similar too.
This just leaves wireless charging, IP and maybe 90hz as the tangible differences you would notice day to day. Maybe it will feel more premium in hand too but that is hard to know right now.
I got the 4a with the intention of giving it to one of my parents with the 5 landed, I am now hesitating though as the 4a is terrific and I am not sure the 5 is £250 better.

I have only had my pixel 5 for a week and i am super impressed with the battery life. I have been getting 3 days out of it . At the moment it has 25 % left and it's used 8 hours and 26 minutes of screen use , that's using google to simply surf the net and as I am a distribution driver i use Google Maps daily, I also make multiple calls daily and use Bluetooth all day for my vans multi media unit and my zenwatch 3 all day I am 61 years old so I have had tons of phones and I have to say i think this phone stacks up with the best including the Asus rog 3

Con: Price for what is being offered. The speakers are just OK. The gap issue from production quality. Luckily I was able to get my P5 for net cost of about 461 including tax after stacking a bunch of promos, etc. Also no gap issue on mine.

The only phone that I currently have and would recommend is the S20FE, but not at MSRP AND if it doesn't have these touch screen issues that people are talking about. Only thing with Samsung phones is that you have to spend additional time to customize to your liking and reducing bloat. I was also pleasantly surprised with the camera qualify after making settings adjustments to reduce saturation and softening in photos.

After using mine for about a week, I am kind of regretting trading in my 4XL for one reason....the ear speaker quality. It is literally the worst sounding earpiece and is extremely quiet relative to my 4XL. I was driving on the highway yesterday and could barely hear my client on the other end. Had to plug in my wired headset. Unacceptable. I will probably send in for a new unit to see if its any better, but everyone seems to have the same comment as I.
I can settle with almost every concession Google took, and I do think the fingerprint is a big welcome back feature. I hate face unlock especially with having to wear masks. Never made sense to me. The hole punch doesnt both me.

As far as Active edge is concerned. I guess, apparently the feature isn't 'official' on the Pixel 5.

I've sold my FE for the Pixel. The screen issues are annoying albeit the last update seems to have sorted it, but I just cannot live with the Samsung nonsense like cannot delete Samsung photos app and playing a dance to get to Google Photos
It's a great phone the FE but not when you are Googled up for home and work and can't be bothered working around 2 of everything

I've sold my FE for the Pixel. The screen issues are annoying albeit the last update seems to have sorted it, but I just cannot live with the Samsung nonsense like cannot delete Samsung photos app and playing a dance to get to Google Photos
It's a great phone the FE but not when you are Googled up for home and work and can't be bothered working around 2 of everything

The Pixel 5 is great. It just works out of the box. I'm enjoying mine and it has been a couple of weeks. You can debloat Samsung, but obviously that's additional steps. It's not hard, but quite frankly I just don't want to invest time with custom ROMs, adb commands, etc. Those days are long gone lol.

A bit true..but this would never happen. Htc had 1 model with 2 versions ...one with htc software and one with google only ...

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones

I'm trying to get an updated opinion about the "hot" snapdragon 8 gen 2 phones that are out currently. About 4-5 months ago the Vivo x90 Pro+ and Xiaomi 13 Ultra were the talk, but the vivo as it stands isn't going to be releasing a global version, and the CN version that a handful of people got their hands on, there is quite a bit of talk about all the bloatware on the device, plus notification issues, plus it doesn't appear as rooting it is anywhere in the near future for the phone.
The Xiaomi is an option and they have a global version in the talks, but apparently it might not come to the states and also I hear that the signal support is hit or miss.
Next up is the Samsung S23 Ultra; although I hear great things and generally speaking the hardware is pretty hard core, I don't have good experience with their interface. From personal experience using galaxy s6,7,8 bloatware is a HUGE issue and from what I hear not much has changed for the better since those models. Also I have read root is possible which is a plus on the S23 ultra, but still not sure if there are any limitations (outside of samsung software (I don't use samsung software)) such as google wallet/pay, bank apps, etc?
Moving on, Oneplus. I've always been a hit or miss kinda guy with the Oneplus. I've owned the op3T, op5T, and now the OP9 Pro. I like that they are "root friendly" generally speaking, and have a semi-vanilla android OS. What I dislike about the phone is the curved screen. Don't really care for it. Also the glass back is no-bueno because my current one has cracked multiple times on me despite being in a case and still functional.
Anyway, I'd like to hear some updated opinions about any of these phones or similar phones that you recommend.
For me, I am mostly interested in performance and battery life that can get me through the day or so. Having a nice camera is a perk, but I think most camera's these days are decent at the very least.
Also kind of a side topic, has anyone had any experience with a carbon fiber phone case? I was thinking of using one for my oneplus or future phone to prevent the back from breaking if it's glass. Carbon fiber is supposed to be really strong and light weight; but I'm not sure if it hinders the phone signal/antenna.

The Samsung Note 10+ (N975U1) has a smaller battery, is 30gm lighter, has better form factor & bezel to display ratio and gets better SOT (11-13 hrs) than the S23U*. In actual use it's only slightly slower except for intensive gaming. It runs cool and supports up to 1tb of expandable storage. The 60hz display is still one of the best in terms of resolution, color accuracy/calibration.
It's cams are more than adequate. Solid build quality and long lived. I have two and nothing Samsung has released since has matched it in overall functionality and usability which why I still run them. They are still a joy to use.
New ones are loaded with Android 10 are still available.
*all Samsung's should be optimized otherwise battery life will suffer.

Thanks for your input. The one concern I have with that model is that I believe the form factor is considered a phablet if I'm not mistaken. I personally like the smaller phones (thinner in terms of width).
Another phone I haven't heard too much about is the iqoo 11. I think it's comparable to the Oneplus 11 in terms of price and specs. Does anyone have any input on that one?
