LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

Thanks for the ROM, messi, it's greatly appreciated even if development stops cold after the post you just made.
And for those that might care, the MD5 of the archive is: 00dd56ee08963da05195915dd528d9b1

The headphone audio output on this ROM is rather weak, but that's not messi's fault, it's because of how Oreo is working on this device. There appears to be no mixer_paths.xml file in Oreo now, and I added the older mixer_paths.xml (with permissions 0644 as required) with the necessary adjustments to boost the audio output from the default of 84 to 92. It had zero effect so it seems the audio subsystem in Oreo is now working differently for whatever reason, not sure if there's a way to adjust the defaults at all.
Also, the kernel for this ROM appears to be defaults to just 6 core operation: I've installed the ROM twice now on my S2P and when I check the core activity with CPU-Z it always shows 2 little cores active, 2 offline (always), and all 4 big cores active. And of course the minimum CPU speeds are 960 for the little cores and 768 for the big cores - they should be (or at least I should say they could be set in the kernel parameters down to the minimum of 384 MHz and that would save a bit of battery life.
Overall it's been great so far, really, everything seems to work fine. The flashlight didn't work so I installed a flashlight app then suddenly the toggle started working so, there's something funky going on there but everything else so far has been great. Would be nice if there was a more customized kernel available, yes, with more governors and perhaps even some undervolting potential but I know this device just doesn't have much developer love at all.
Regardless, it's very cool to be able to run Oreo 8.1 now since I have never really given a damn about it at all previously. I may go back to running the stock T-Mobile 20a rooted ROM on my S2P however, it depends on how things work out.

Geezus, I spent an hour looking for that information on multiple forums and websites and you're the first person to point out where it is, damn.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Adjusted the default path name="headphones" from 75 to 90 and w00t, much much better now.

I want to ask a question. This Custom ROM support the LG Stylus 2 Plus K520TR model?

There are two issues I've noticed, can't say they will, would, or do affect other people and I'm using the MetroPCS model with T-Mobile (I was using the T-Mobile stock ROM originally).
- the Mobile Hotspot does not function. It says it's working in the Settings submenu but the actual hotspot never does function, it never shows up as a visible AP for another device to connect to, the SSID is not broadcast, etc
- the USB options when you plug in a USB cable will not stick, I've got into the Developer Options and I have it set to always MTP and every single time I plug in I have to go manually change it from charging to MTP to get it working
They're not massively important things but for me the Mobile Hotspot could be useful for my Wife when we're out and about; her Flex 2 doesn't have cellular service so in the past she'd just tether to my Stylo but now that's not possible.
Not sure this can even be resolved given the nature of the usage but it would be nice to have those two nitpicks working properly. Aside from that this ROM so far has been spectacular: I'm getting 7+ hours of SOT at 50% brightness, with cellular and Wi-Fi enabled constantly, and using L Speed to handle background performance.
So far so good.

I am getting a vendor ID error every time I restart the phone. T-Mobile version stylo. Clean install followed to a T. I also noticed some games aren't working either like they cannot community ate with the server mainly Paladins strike that game also starts with an error.
I'll try to screenshot the error and write it down as well as the vendor id it says I need to match

Did a full reflash and the vendor id error persists. Also not sure if its because of that but most of the apps and games I try to play are giving me network errors and not downloading the content. I can download from the app store no problem but its within the app that problems with network start. My APN is correct as well.
Wondering if I missed a nougate update that is causing the vendor id error.

@messi2050 said he was done with this phone and I haven't heard anything from him since, so no. @deadman96385 @Travisholt92 @xRaZeR_FuZioNx and @cospalet are all working on roms still. If you wanna talk to them and see what their plans are, we have a telegram group, but you'll have to find it yourself

Ya I'm not looking to pay for nightlies of an unfinished rom

The ROM works, the only thing that doesn't for me is the hotspot but that's a given anyway and nothing can really be done with it.
Only thing I wish we had at this point is a custom kernel to get the idle speeds down from the current ones of 960/768, they should be 384/384 and it would help with battery life (which is fine even in spite of this current limitation). Maybe some more governors would be nice too but so far I've been running this ROM since it was put out and haven't had a single thing to legitimately complain about unlike others it seems.
Use it, don't use it, but for Pete's Sake® STFU about it and messi, will ya?

I just got my computer up with 14.04.5 TT and set up my build envir. I just need the time. I cant leave my computer set up at home right now and thats where i have the best connection. Its my first time so i intend to do a couple dry runs first, maybe play around with the kernel. But i never have to time to get rling with it

Google lens
I can't believe it but Google Lens actually works on this ROM. I haven't done a lot of testing but so far so good.

Did you ever find a fix for the mismatching vendor.img? I feel dumb bit its been years since i've fiddled with android internals. They've change quite a bit since lollipop lol

So, for you, if you have cellular service, can you test out the hotspot functionality and let me know if you're successful with getting it to work? It's the only thing that doesn't work for me, so I switched back to the 7.1.1 ROM where it works just fine. I'd love to continue using the 8.1 ROM but without that hotspot it's a problem.

[ROM] CyanogenMod 12.0 for Evita [Unofficial][5.0.2]

So the evita has made it into the first group of devices with official nightly builds for CM12!
You can read the blog post from CyanogenMod here: cyanogenmod.org/blog/the-l-is-for-lollipop
Or... you can jump right into the downloads here: download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=evita
Hi All-
I've built CyanogenMod 12 from source for the HTC One XL.
Nothing has been modified, and the only thing required to get it to work was some trickery with the proprietary blobs.
Most everything seems to be working properly!
There are some app glitches I've seen (particularly video playback), but I'm guessing it's not specific to this device.
Some of the video problems can be solved by disabling the NuPlayer in the Developer options.
Updated 2014-12-16. Video appears to be a bit more stable.
Updated 2014-12-22. Update to Android 5.0.2! (whatever that means)

Tested working:
Mobile network
Wifi
Camera
Bluetooth
GPS
Play Store, google apps, etc.
I'm running HBOOT 2.18, s-off, TWRP 2.8.1.0; so I'd recommend you do the same
Steps:
Download CM12; put it on your SD card:
cm-12-20141229-UNOFFICIAL-evita.zip
cm-12-20141229-UNOFFICIAL-evita.zip.md5sum
Download PA Beta Google Apps; put it on your SD card:
(Not required, but you'll want this for the Play Store app)
[GAPPS][5.0.x][BETA] OFFICIAL Up-to-Date PA-GOOGLE APPS (All ROM's) [2014-12-25]
Reboot to recovery.
Take a backup if you want.
Do a 'factory reset'.
(NOTE!!! Do not do the factory reset from the bootloader, since that will wipe ALL your files)
Install CM12 & Google Apps.
Reboot!
I'll be making more builds as time goes on, until we get official support.
Have fun and let me know if anything goes wrong!
A note about md5sums:
I don't know why people don't seem to recommend doing this, but TWRP will automatically check md5 hashes for you.
Just include the .md5sum file in the same folder as the .zip file.
I've had corrupted downloads/transfers before, and they're easy to avoid.

You guys are awesome, hope to see soon the official one.
Thanks for this great ROM.
I've been having some trouble with the phone app. It hangs while ending the call.
I also tried to check muy IMEI and it's blank. (Check attached picture)
Battery isn't good either.

I'm on AT&T and I don't have any problems with the phone app or IMEI; who is your carrier?
If you want to post a logcat I will look into it.
As for battery, Juice Defender could be hurting if it is aggressively closing apps/services which then restart themselves.
Or you could try disabling NFC. I've had many problems with NFC on other ROMs for this phone in the past, and I never use it so I always keep it off.
I clean installed again, and I can see, a very big difference.
I can see my IMEI now, I can also:
Make calls
Connect thru mobile data
Watch YouTube and Netflix
Send video to Chromecast
Listen to music
Music Bluetooth stream
Bluetooth calls (not sure)
Take screenshots
Battery is not bad at all.
But I still can't watch video on Instagram or Facebook.
After getting a phone call, phone app becomes unresponsive. It freezes on the call screen displaying the word "Terminando" English for "Ending".
Everything else works, but you can't call again until rebooting.
I love CyanogenMod and Lollipop.
Thank you for the great work.
Edit: I forgot, my carrier is TELCEL in México City.

I've been using this rom for a day now and through the short use of this rom I've not noticed any hiccups except getting Vipermod to work fully. Trying to boost the speaker volume for instance but have not come to any success. Other than that it's proving very nice and I am really liking 5.0 since my LG G2 took a dive the screen shattered.
Edit: Unfortunately I spoke too soon because I have run into two specific problems so far, one being the battery. It's difficult with this rom to make it through even a whole day and when the "battery saving feature" kicks in the device is reporting 15% left yet in reality this is around 3% because I go to turn the device on and it shuts down.
Second problem I found was with the music streaming service Pandora. The audio just doesn't want to play. I've had no issues with youtube and other videos through chrome, just Pandora and wanting to stream across bluetooth.
I understand this is an APLPHA, just wanted to report back my findings. Thank you for taking the time on this Rom and I will be checking back in to test again and see how the progress goes as I am really enjoying Lollipop.

Pandora works fine for me. I wasn't expecting it to so it is a pleasant surprise
Are you running the 12/16 version?
For battery, I haven't seen a problem.
What does the battery usage page say?
Have you tried turning off NFC?
I am running the latest version and as far as the battery usage page goes I can't really trust it right now because it tells me values that as aren't really took crazy yet my battery gets eaten up on this rom. Have you tried Pandora through bluetooth music streaming? I've heard that this is a problem with other lollipop roms so far as well.
Will CyanogenMod support Evita in their CM12 version?
Is there any way to know which devices are going to be supported? If so could you share a link? Thank you.

At the moment, no devices are supported.
There is no list of devices with planned support; although, there have been a few CM11 devices that are planned to not be supported in CM12.
Many updates are happening on different parts of the code, and various things are expected to break/fix from day-to-day.
Once the CyanogenMod team decide the code is stable-ish (for at least the popular devices) they will start releasing nightly builds.
At that time, I see no reason for this device not to be supported since I am already building the code practically unchanged.
CyanogenMod on November 13th said:
We are unlikely to enable nightlies against CM12 until towards the end of this month, or early next month, as we work to incorporate the CM features you’ve all come to appreciate into the new code base, and reimagine those that no longer translate to the Material look of L. It is also currently too soon to tell how many devices will transition from 11 to 12, though early traction has this number higher than we had initially hypothesized.

Thank you so much for the info! Anyways I just installed your ROM and its looking gorgeous! Smooth installations, not problems whatsoever so far. Will report later with any finding.
Thanks a lot for your work!
Installed new version 12162014.
Phone app does not crash after hanging up, but Bluetooth calls do not work.
Phone app crashes when dialing.
Hello, i've already use the newest version, and it works flawlessly, btw it kind of slow loading if i using it for playing some games, is it because the app usually run at dalvik runtime and now because the lollipop it run at ART and that cause the app loading so slow?
I've loaded the newest ROM, cm-12-20141218-UNOFFICIAL-evita.zip
It works great, except for a couple of things.
1. AudioFX keeps stopping.
2. When I connect my phone to computer via usb, sometimes the internal storage shows up in File Explorer, sometimes not. When it does, I can open Internal Storage and see all the folders. However, when I open some of the folders, I see either no files, or only some of the files that I know are really there. From the phone I can see the files using ES file Explorer. Also, I've found no way to change the usb protocol (MTP, PTP or USB Mass Storage).
Other than this, the ROM seems to run just fine.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for this great ROM. Runs realy smooth and stable for me, but mobile data and usb connection to my PC isnt working.
In the APN settings there is a message that the APN settings arent available for this user and im not able to add an APN. Any idea?

Camera - Unable to focus?
Just noticed that the focus on my phone does not work. Anyone notice the same issue?
It wasn't able to focus on rom packaged version and also google camera from play store. I first dirty flashed but then did a clean install and still was acting up. Was working fine in Sense 5 and CM11.
Taking photos and videos etc function works though. Just wasn't able to point focus.
This is so cool !! Just tried on my rogers htc one xl evita w/ hboot 2.18 and TWRP
Flawless

and mobile data isn't working or only for a short time after a reboot.
So far this has been great, had a couple reboots one after trying to reply with Hangouts and another when setting up my work email. Has had some small lag but nothing major.
Luckily I still had an XL for a backup. My GPE converted M7 won't turn on or charge anymore

"It seems that burning Generic System Image (GSI) was mainstream until a while ago,
but GSI did not deal with notice LEDs, covers with magnets etc,
recently it only finally released Xiaomi kernel source , I decided to build it
for AICP-mordiford support myself, for example because MoKee 81.0 was released
and maintainers released the source . ROM is common to 8 inch version and 10 inch version (Plus).
Since we started publishing while waiting for Unlock, we have already received reports
of problems and defects from some users. Because there was a change on the side of MoKee,
there might be something like this, so it was saved. "
I tried to contact lindwurm without success . The information about this project is very hard to detect , because it does not exist in english language. I decided to create this thread as the information of existence this ROM exclusive for Mi Pad 4/Mi Pad 4 Plus. It is the best custom rom for this device because it is created by owner of this hardware. It includes fixes for hardware specific problems not existed on other devices . Because the roots of AICP are LOS , this ROM has many (maybe all) features good known in LOS .
I am using this ROM for a month on my Mi Pad 4 (WiFi only) and I am yet to find any bugs. Great job from Hota and the team.

thank you for a responce. When you will release next build, could you public release notes? It will be nice, but the rom seems to be finished and bug free. I am not able to report any problems. I have to check if lte modem and gps working, when I will cut my micro gsm card.
I read about problem with battery leaks by lte applications (LOS) in wifi only model. I have lte models only , but maybe someone else will write if this problem exists or not.
It is interesting, I used gsi aicp previously and I have problem with autorotation after some time of use. Your non-gsi seems to not have this problem.
Pie - nice to read it. Personally I will use Oreo as long as we will have working version of xposed for Pie.
Today I tested my mi pad 4 lte in antutu bench. The result was 90000 in last release of this rom (L Speed set to battery optimalisation).

How long does the table stay in standby mode with this rom ? It seem's that other roms suffer from standby mode not working properly.

At "balanced" it should be about 140k.

I have a card for use in new tablet. It does not work. My gsm operator does not use B20 at all, this can not be a problem. I am able to list possible to use operators , I select mine and I have information it is not avialable . The APN I have defined ok. Is it a problem of this rom ? Is someone using LTE without problem ? ( I tried with WiFi enabled and disabled and firewall disabled )

I do not know. I am using my own otimalisations for keeping standby over month . It works for me on all of my android devices .

Can you give me some advice over how you optimize it? I would love to keep mine from getting buggy after awhile.
What to do?
1. I use automagic for automate interfaces managing.
I turn off wifi and mobile data on smartfons and wifi and gsm modem on tablets in the script. Additional IT turns off nfc, bluetooth... on every lcd lock. Turn it on, on lcd unlock and use only wifi if it is available.
2. L Speed lets me use device with battery optimalisation.
3. Use Greenify for restricted hibernation all not needed apps. You have to use it with xposed. (My email I synchronize manual in script after network back. If you see app was stopped change hibernation in it from normal to not deep.)
4. Wakelock Detector will monitor for detect problematic apps and hibernate it in Greenify. It worked for me some time in mordiford and stopped. Today I use BetterBattery for it.
5. Use AppOps or os build-in functions to set privilages for your apps. Cut auto start with system an do not let system sleep for all apps you know they do not need it.
6. If something autostarted after cut this privilage, uninstall it or use MyAndroidTolls[Xposed] for fight wit it without uninstall.
7. Use Netguard or other firewall for cut intertnet for apps like flashlight... which do not need it.
8. I suggest to use too the XPrivacyLua if yor privacy has any value. If you disable access to some info, you will be able to limit some activity too.
Like you see, you can do everything if you have root and xposed. I am sorry, but android pie(9) is useless today.
Edit.
I measured power consumption by mi pad 4.
1. Stand by : 14 mA
2. wifi off, lte off : 230 mA
3. wifi on, lte off: 250-350 mA
4. wifi off, lte on: 240 mA
5. wifi on, lte on: 290 mA
6. wifi on, lte off, youtube: 410 mA
7. wifi off, lte on, youtube: 420 mA
8. wifi on, lte on, youtube: 420 mA
It looks like normal use of the tablet consumes a lot of power. It does not look good. It is bad.

This is proffesional provider Plus with contract card and big limit. Pad 4 is not able to register to it's network.
I cut my old card to nano size. It is semi professional provider Aero2 and card is free with free internet with small limit. This card works at once without any problem. I have had to change prefered network type from global to lte/wcdma.
Does this rom have read/write speed slow problem. Is it better than mokee or MiUi rom?

Hey Bogdan010! Thanks for the ROM and screenshots.
How is this different from an AOSP ROM (HavocOS, RR, etc.)? I read up that CAF has better compatibility with Snapdragon hardware, so would this ROM be better than an AOSP one?
Also, is Bluetooth calling fixed here, or will we have to flash the bt-call-fix-hlte.zip file?
P.S.: I have a SM-N9005 running RR-P-v7.0.2-20190605-hlte-Official at the moment, and am planning to clean flash and update to HavocOS, so if this ROM has better compatibility, I'd rather test this one out.

Ok...
First: The main developer of this ROM is @jprimero15 (he told me to create this thread and i said "ok, i'll do it") so thank him!
Second: CAF based ROMs has a better compatibility with snapdragon SoC-s (as you said) but it's not very customizable (like Havoc)
Third: I tried BT calling and it works in this ROM. Miracast works too but sound comes from phone speaker (not TV) [this option is still in beta stage because google killed miracast in pie]
Peace out! :fingers-crossed:

Firstly, A thanks is in order then, Thanks jprimero15!
Secondly, by better compatibility you mean better battery life, efficiency etc.? So basically if I want a solid ROM with less customisation I go with this, am I understanding this correctly? Xposed and stuff won't work, I'm guessing?
Thirdly, The casting bit I understand, no worries, I read all about how google killed it off.
Thanks for replying and setting things straight though, Bogdan010.

Can u please add a features list to the OP post ( like in the Havoc thread) so that we can get to know what all customizations are available without actually flashing the ROM?

Running perfectly for the past couple of hours.
Really love the smoothness of the ROM in all the menus, especially the scrolling; before I always got that slight stutter in RR and Pixel Experience while scrolling through anything.
Google Pay also works after installing Magisk. On another hand though, BHIM, the banking app we use in India is giving me a false positive saying the device is rooted, even without installing Magisk, but not much of a problem, it's an Indian government-made app so it sucks lol, had this issue with RR also (and it randomly got solved, but whatever)
Bluetooth calling works out of the box without flashing any extra zips. Music also works with no disconnection (I was able to test only for a few minutes though)
Specifically love that little lightning icon that appears when the phone is charging rapidly.
Battery life seems to be similar to all other Pie ROMs, but yet to test extensively. Will get back with results in a couple of days.
The in-built customisation options are slightly limited, unlike the other AOSP ROMs, but its still enough I feel, not considering the below clock suggestion.
Everything seems pretty stable, will be using this for the next week, and will post if any issues.
One small thing, I would like the ability to move the clock in the status bar from the left to the middle. Would that be possible? Or is there a Magisk module that could help me with the same?

Okay cool, I'll check it out and holler back.
Just one more small thing, do you think it would be possible to enable the flip cover to put the phone to sleep? I still use the original samsung cover, and it's slightly irritating to press the power button everytime. The phone wakes up when I open the cover though, so maybe its possible the other way around also? Just maybe
Thanks a lot for your quick replies, Bogdan010

Finally published on XDA, a very good ROM, I use it on a daily basis, screen 9+ hours, the speed is at the level of PE 9 CAF, who needs lightweight ROM, with the latest security patches, and without bugs, I can recommend Carbon
Solid ROM. I chose it thanks to the Kill option in the Recents task switcher.
Note that unlike LineageOS, CarbonROM doesn't come with a built-in firewall since contemporary android (last year or so) lets you use rootless firewalls via vpn redirects. Personally I've rooted and used afwall regardless since I need root for adaway.
Mi Remote works fine in case you're wondering. You don't need to allow any permissions and can even firewall it after "pairing" your TVs and it will still work.
One question/caveat: How do I enable lock screen rotation?

To be honest, I do not really know if this is possible.
The lock screen normally shuts down most of the censors.
If you are sure that the accelerometer is active when the screen is locked, it has to be researched.
Otherwise, you would need TYPE_MAGNETIC_FIELD and TYPE_ACCELEROMETER to adjust the settings.
I, personally, don't think it is possible.

Thanks for replying. I'm asking because it's fairly common in other ROMs so I assumed the setting was buried somewhere in the menus. I even looked it up over the github repos ( https://github.com/search?q=org:CarbonROM+lock+screen+rotation&type=commits ) and found multiple commits suggesting it's an existing feature: https://github.com/CarbonROM/android_frameworks_base/commit/afc54cf30f9c3adb4038dc3363cf47bbefc01564

Sensors wise, I think that's the sleep mode that cutoffs those circuits rather than the lock screen itself so once the display turns back on the sensors are back on as well. But that's just me making guesses really.
Ok I managed to get the lockscreen rotating but it isn't easy. Basically you need to add a line to build.props using magisk's MagiskHide Props Config module. So, from the terminal after installing and rebooting you su and run props which is a menu driven terminal script. You add a new one (I think it was no.4 in the menu? follow the on-screen instructions...) called lockscreen.rot_override and give it the value true. Then let props initiate the reboot and you're done.
TL;DR lockscreen.rot_override=true in build.props
Anyhow, would have been nicer to have it as a CarbonFiber but so long as it works, I'm not complaining Thanks.
Another day another odd bug / missing feature: It's likely at least two-three separate su (magisk) and missing permissions possibly related to the new Android privacy polices, but Automation / Easer / Automate / LibreTasks can't use the wifi as a trigger due to missing permissions. E.g. previously I'd use LineageOS's System Profiles to turn off mobile data when my home wifi was connected but now nothing can list the wifi networks (related permissions maybe?) or switch off mobile data (su / magisk root elevation by the service probably needs work on the app dev's side) but third party tools are all broken for various reasons.
Anyhow, It's probably not ROM related but since LineageOS circumvents the issue by providing their own, I think it's still a valid point of comparison especially for people that consider event driven automation as necessary. Personally I guess I'll just try and remember to turn it on/off.

If you want to inform the team, you can use the email address in the description.
As to automation, normally when you have both LTE and Wi-Fi connected, the connection is set to sign in to the closest cell, irreleveant of the technology used. The distance marks ping times, strength of signal, velocity but even when it connects, you still have the both sensors active (which drains battery). Currently, I don't think there is a way to automatically shut down one of them, or both of them, if this is what you mean.
In terms of selection of the network, it has always worked. In terms of dozing the sensors after a certain time of inactivity, I cannot help you.
Hopefully, this is useful.

Nah it looks like the automation stuff is being shifted into the assistant APIs and SDKs and most projects and foss just hasn't caught up with the changing permissions and such: https://www.xda-developers.com/android-10-rules-automation-feature-rolls-out-some-pixel-devices/

I guess google wants their machine learning to do this automatically for users instead of the users having to go into the settings and script logic.
Anyhow, I'm sure things will sort themselves out with time so no worries.
Offtopic, for some reason Axet's Call Recorder didn't work for me even after giving it root so I had to use the magisk module that installs it as a system app. It's sorta weird since android.permission.CAPTURE_AUDIO_OUTPUT should have been granted as I checked "System Mixer Incall Recording" and approved it for superuser but it didn't. I even thought something went wrong with magisk itself but adaway and afwall test fine so...
Anyhow, thought it's worth mentioning since I keep running into similar premission related issues and some of them are common enough that people already have apps to solve/circumvent them.
Changelog - 20/04/2021
Hello!
I've switched to this ROM because android 11 and kernel 4.9 was not stable for me, with all kind of slowness and issues.
I'm glad to see an up-to-date android 10 rom. The performance is just insane compared with the other rom's i've tested.
But I do experience a bug with wireless. When my phone is connected to a 2.4ghz wifi AP, the performance is really low, below 4mbps with high jitter, even with the signal at 100%. If I connect to the 5ghz band, the performance is perfect, above 115mbps.
How can I help you with troubleshooting this? Unfortunately this is a massive problem for me. Changing wifi channels and 20 or 40mhz bandwidth makes no difference at all.

Hi!
First, I have none of your issues and have no information on anyone else experiencing it.
If you connect to 2,4 Ghz, the range is longer and wider, which means the strength and velocity is somewhat disturbed by the distance from the router or the AP, but ensures longer distance. Drops are fewer than in the 5 GHz.
If you use 5 Ghz, it is much more stable but the distance is shorter and the channel is narrow, which leads to easy disturbance of the connection.
If you use the Hotspot for someone close to you (not far than 5-7 metres) use the 5 GHz.
Changing the bandwidth of the channel might improve something but rather not.
If you have any other questions, do not hesitate.
Thank you for your answer but unfortunately I do experience this problem with this ROM and not with others
I'm aware how wifi networks works but where I'm mostly using my device, I don't have 5ghz available.
I need proper 2.4ghz stability because I use ms teams on my device for home office.
This problem is not present with other android 10 roms with kernel 3.18 like lineage os.
Let me know if you need logcats or anything

This looks like a good rom. I will test it on my device.

o Thank you for your answer but unfortunately I do experience this problem with this ROM and not with others

Ok, send them to me. I will take a look when I have some time to do so.
No promises.
I found the problem it's bluetooth.
I have a mi band that is always connected to my device. Just by having bluetooth enabled, I can't have more than 4mbps. Disabling it, I can use wifi happily at 70mbps.
Is there a bluetooth coexistence mode that can be tweaked?

They are on the same chip
Check here
I'm aware of it. But like I said, this was a non-issue with miui and LOS17.1.
Perhaps there's a tweak on WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini that can be done? Or maybe los17.1 uses different blobs? You could try to push zeelogs 17.1 kernel to cr-8.0.
These are just ideas, not complaints

A bug I found - google assistant is not working and it's showing 'not available in this device'.. Is there any way to fix it??

I can just speak for the 2019 Xperias:
-BT AAC Codec isn't working actually
-Calls may have no Audio
But that's all on My Bug List. It seems like the latest Versions aren't booting on the Xperia 1 III so it will be the same on the 5 III. But I will help to fix that if People are willed to test around... That's why I'm also on GitHub...
Updated the Thread, MARS_SOMs and GitHub<3

Are you willing to develop a stable version for me? I am willing to donate higher amounts to fund the development. I'm quite tired of the way Sony does their software.
The auto downgrade to 60Hz everytime the phone gets slightly hot. That software feature itself drives me mad from using the phone.

Totally agree with You about the Software since the Z3 (Z3+/Z4). They started a Semi-Public Beta Program to optimize the Firmwares with an Bareboned AOSP. Still lacking a lot of the old famous Featurs like the Mini Apps, Extra Apps, Widgets, Brands like Cybershot, Walkman and so on... It's sad!
I'm really trying to get the best out of it (still). So i will solve the issues asap (next 24hrs).
Let's try to solve the Performance issues right after that!
I splitted My MARS SOMs into 3 Gears. Everything is explained on GitHub. Also updated the Threads and the ReadMe's. Also made huge Progress with My own Overlay. It's a firsty on Android Development (including incredible and tons of Features). Give "Gear Second" and "Gear First" a try for now. It should work fine yet (except for the Audio issues maybe)

I bought this App too, but do You mean a own Kernel for the Xperias? Or are You thinking about Profiles for the Stock Kernel?

We should be the one to thank you! I will try your new build out and give feedback. Yes i think the Xperia needs s custom kernel or custom profiles at least.
Something is not right with how the stock kernel processes tasks. Games do not get the phone hot. But teamviewer, uber and google maps does for some reason. One other Xperia 5 III owner reported that the Franko Kernel Manager solves this issue. Perhaps we can take reference from this and improve?

The Problems with the Performance should be fixed over the MARS Base SOM. I played around with the Kernel Settings and it doesn't seems to improve stuff further. LMK and ZRAM are the bad Guys at the end. Paired with wrong rendering of certain Apps like Google Maps. Everything of that and more should be improved with My fully working SOMs. I would be glad to make it work on the last 6 Flagships from SONY (Maybe even the Pro Devices). Just need some help with the testing...
Really reached some big Goals the last week or so. Really looking forward to make it 100% stable for everyone. There are also more things planned for our Xperias which are really ambitious...

Hey there. Just managed to install your SOM and test it out for a while. Overall stability is there and performance seems identical to stock.
Just would like to raise some stability issues:
Unable to turn on Wi-Fi on my end so far. Turning it on through notification shade shortcut causes System UI to freeze momentarily and W-Fi goes off after that. Turning it on through settings causes Settings to freeze momentarily and Wi-Fi goes off after that. It doesn't show list of Wi-Fi networks
Screen refresh rate still drops to 60Hz when phone gets warm and there is no way to force change it back to 90Hz or to turn this feature off
Also raising these suggestions:
We have to find a way to improve the time from fingerprint scan to home screen. It has taken too long since the first Xperia 5. Also, pressing the power button and resting finger on the sensor at the same time seems to get to home screen faster. Just resting finger on the sensor without pressing the power button takes a longer time. I think it is something to do with software
Is it feasible to port over Lineage OS or similar?
Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you and supporting your work!
Thanks again for Your detailed Feedback @SPEEDHAMMER ! I have just released another big Update which should improve things further...
I would really like to see You on My Disco rd Server to share more Details about my upcoming work with You!
I'm about to create an Xperia Exclusive OS with many great Features. There are already some people around and I'm sure they would like to see You too!
HUGE UPDATES INCOMING!
MARS will be available over GitHub Releases so You can easily Download ready-to-use Zips of MARS for Magisk. Also included are now OTA Updates for MARS over Magisk and the focus Changed to GSIs again. Use PHH AOSP 12 or PIXEL EXPIERENCE 12 by Ponces to unleash Your Xperias
Excuse me, I've just come back after 3 years of stock ROMs. What is the order of flashing the Pixel Experience? I used to use a custom recovery, but as I see there's no such one for 5 III and I didn't find any instruction. Do I just flash the ROM via "fastboot flash system_b pe.img"?
Now I have a stock ROM with all-working Magisk. Do I need a full-wipe also? There's a GSI flashing after Magisk installation in your general instruction, right?

You need the Pixelsystem.img File
Place it next to fastboot and execute:
fastboot flash system_a Pixelsystem.img
Followed by
fastboot flash system_b Pixelsystem.img
Wipe Your Device or it doesnt Boot
fastboot -w
Thats it
Sorry, have the same error during step 5 and during flashing PE. I made a mistake somewhere.
