There is not much difference in nougat, oreo and android p. everything looks same with some tweaking they are giving new version names. so we will get android p possibility are there. in my case these are minor updates. real version updates should be like kitkat to lolipop. we need that kind of updates but our device won't support if we have that kind of major updates because so many devices ended up with kitkat so instead of major ones they are decided to release minor ones to give old devices new features.

It all depends on whether Huawei plans to include Project Treble in the Oreo upgrade. With Project Treble, timely security updates and possibly Android P upgrade will come to our device.
No proper announcement has been made regarding Project Treble for Honor 6x.

Hey guys
My friend just bought a new Huawei Mate 7 Gold yesterday and I checked the Android version and it says 4.4.2 Kit-Kat. He'd like to update it to Lollipop and since I have been doing such things for years on Samsung and HTC devices I thought I should help him out by checking the forum first. I found a helpful article about updating it to Lollipop OTA, however it is in German and the translation is terrible, so can anyone point me in the right direction?
As I said, the device is brand new and still has 4.4.2 unmodified Kit-Kat on it.
This is the article I am talking about: http://www.huaweiblog.de/huawei/huawei-mate-7-lollipop-update-download/
Thanks guys!
There's a thread dedicated to this in the general section
Thanks for you reply and for pointing me out to the right thread. From what I've read, it seems as though the Lollipop update is quite unstable nowadays and I should hold off till it's official, correct? I don't want my friend to go through a hassle because of it since he is not very tech-savvy.

I have installed lollipop 5.1.1 beta and its quite good but there's still many bugs. Maybe it is better to wait the official release.
I agree. If your friend is not tech savvy, hold first and wait for official release
It's usable as a daily driver, but no, not as stable as 4.4.2.
Generic overview:
-random reboots, not extremely frequent but they happen.
-some memory issues compared to 4.4.2
-a bit less battery
-some options not present
Hi, someone knows when will be release the official version of lollipop? No betas

Nope, and tbh i'm not extremely eager to run lollipop on most phones right now... Google screwed up pretty bad on this major version.

I second that. While material design is nice to look at, the memory leak and battery drain are causing issues in some lollipop phones
hi,I tried alot roms but can not install them, device is mate 7 2gb ,MT7-L09 and rom is B137SP11,I think this rom is developed from any rom,by the way official huawei site in which rom avaible this one did not install too.I have another problem when I use ussd codes not change tr expression in area codes, may be it will occur from tr expression,I buy it from TURKEY I think it will not give permission to set new rom on it?thanks

Which one is it? Most of the ROMs which have been posted here haven't got an Update for ages now, the only one which seems up to date is the Oreo one, however I am afraid that this ROM will be dead too soon (hopefully not) :/ I just hope that this ROM will be our savior and get us out of this misery aka EMUI.
I'm in the same situation. Most of the roms have some bugs and never get updated and others are just not stable enough to be used daily. I hope there will be at least one rom that is stable and that gets updated from time to time. Especially since Honor 8 won't get Android Oreo anymore.

crDroid is under testing for latest B401 blobs and the GPS reboot fix. I'll update it as soon as possible.

Never heard of crDroid before, can you tell what it is like? Is it a rom based on the B401 firmware? Whats the difference between the other ones? And in what kind is this firmware/rom better than teh other ones?

I'm new to the Honor 8 (and coming from the Nexus 6: ease of modding/availability of custom firmware etc., this totally sucks). But I'll tell you that generally the only "better" custom ROM is a more stable ROM: otherwise, it depends on user preference. Do you want a lot of customization options, or are you preferring a pared-down, bare-bones experience? That's what makes the difference.
The trouble with the H8 appears to be that 1) EMUI for the H8 just doesn't play very nicely with custom ROMs (and possibly even just rooting?); and 2) because of that, not many people who are interested in developing ROMs are taking on the task.
So I'd just get used to EMUI or take whatever ROM is most stable according to most--I have no idea personally what that is, but your options are going to probably be pretty limited (especially now that it looks like Huawei is shafting H8 owners by not releasing Oreo). I doubt you've got any room to be picky here: just shoot for stability.
As for crDroid specifically, it is one of many lines of ROMs (like Resurrection Remix) and is released in different variants for different phones. This one is based on Cyagenmod (and my guess is the Honor 8 one isn't official, but rather an unofficial variant, "based on" crDroid)--but you could've found that out by using Google (see here for starters).
The Honor 8 appears to be an especially difficult device to successfully mod, so if you're a beginner, I'd really think twice before taking on the task unless you can get some help. I'm fairly well-versed with modding, but I'm either going to return this phone or limit my tinkering to rooting.
Upto which Android version, this phone (redmi note 7 pro) will receive Android updates? Any idea? I am new to Xiaomi world and have no idea about how and when they release software updates?

As of now, Xiaomi has promised us MIUI 11 based on Android Q, which is to be released in Q1 2020..
Yes, they provide OTA updates time to time..check out the updater app it, informs you bout any pending updates...
Honestly speaking updates are very late, they make us wait for a long time for almost nothing, just security patches and few negligible fixes...
Anyhow i dint buy this phone for updates and versions though., custom roms are way better in providing latest updates

But Violet hasn't received the best of custom ROMS yet, this will take a while, also lack of kernel sources prevent devs from making Custom Kernels for MIUI..

As posted in the link above, Android 10 is set to launch on September 3rd.
As far as i am aware, manufacturers have to configure the Android 10 so it works optimally with their devices. And this process takes time to complete.
Does anyone rember how long it took to get Pie, when it was released for our device ? Thanks
Regarding Pie release: The first post in here appeared around November, while Pie itself was released around August. So it took roughly 4 months.

I am (was) in the Pie beta testing group and if I remember correctly, I got the upgrade around November indeed.
According to a Xiaomi Online Support attendant, 10 will start rolling out in UK this week.
When it's about updates, online supports often says what we want to hear
So wait and see...

No! It shouldnt be january!
Mi A2 Lite has pure Android.
- No Bloatware
- No UI
Plus our device supports Project Treble. They used this feature with Pie update. Our device's drivers didnt updated since 2018 because of the Project Treble they dont need to update those. But it will be good if they do.
There is nothing to be hard.

The hard thing is that xiaomi has problem with our vendor, that's why we don't see fully working custom versions of Android Q , the only way is flashing a gsi version , or Android 10 with custom vendor , so... they have big problem , mi a3 has the same problem , that's why the device is still on PIE (they have promised that the Q update for A3 will come in the end of October)
So... we'll see , miui 11 is still PIE too... so maybe the problem is not that small

Since pie builds with custom vendor is in user opinion "more bugged than with sock vendor" I don't if there is sense to make custom ROMs with custom vendor if users days it more bugged than stock vendor, otherwise I'm still trying to build superior q, of course with custom vendor

I have a honor kiw-l21 phone it has build kiw-l21c432b350 on emui 4.0 android 6.0.1. the thing is i need to update the version of android, since my banking app no longer supports android versions lower than 7. i have searched your site for a version of android that is 7 or grater. is there an official version to meet my requirement. I noticed that there is is a develeper version called lineageOS 17.1 is that my only solution or is there an official one i can use.
Updates get automatically rolled out by OEM/carrier if they consider it necessary.
What you mean is to upgrade your existing Android. This is never done by OEM/carrier.
IMO to upgrade to Android version 7 or higher you have to flash a corresponding Custom ROM like LineageOS.
But I may err, as always ...

You need to use test point method that needs opening your phone's back cover and that is kinda a pain for noobs. Need some research on your phone.

Cheers, I was hoping that Honor/huawei might have brought a newer version of EMUI out, I did update it when EMUI 4 came out, that update was from android 5 to 6.
