So in some of the news articles a lot of people were complaining that moto have a bad track record when it comes to updates. I'd like to point out that these new phones are releasing with Oreo which means that they have project treble. This makes it far far easier to adapt updates and roms to these phones so even if moto don't bother expect to have all the options! XD
Hi,
First we need to see a method for installing Magisk and a Custom Recovery!

Certainly! But no one has this phone for now. The G6 Plus should arrive the 7th of may (mine too). But there's no G6 Plus section on XDA at the moment...

It should be arriving today. Once I have it set-up, I'll try to say something useful about it
Edit: the phone arrived. Setting it up now. Until now everything is smooth. The screen is really nice. Speed is great. Pity to see that 'out of the box' 20% of the internal 64 gb is already taken by the OS and it's native apps.
For now I didn't figure out if the OS is 64 bit or 32 bit.
The camera(s) is (are) really awesome! For now no regrets! But the phone still has a locked bootloader and no root. So for now I can't really check everything. But that's only a matter of time...
The OS is 64 bit!

Great!
Please, can you share info about sensors? It has Compass? NFC?
Another question: As the root/Magisk isn't available at time for this model, can you check almost the Substratum native support with Andromeda (no root required)?

Compass and NFC work both fine. I didn't deliberately test GPS, but location service works fine. And sorry, I really, really hate substratum! No theming for me. One of the reasons that I buy a 'stock android' phone without a skin.
Only little disappointment for now is the battery life. That was better on my Moto G5 Plus with Validus O, but it still brings me through the day.
Here is the complete list of sensors I found on my Moto G6 Plus!

Hi,
Ummm... Now I have a Moto G5+, and the battery with stock firmware is great. You feel the battery of the Moto G6+ is worse?

Hi,
More questions for you:
- The XT1926-3 (RETEU) model of Moto G6+, which "code number" has? For example for the Moto G5+ is "potter". It can be "teller"?
- The phone has FM Radio receiver? How it works?
Thank you!

The battery life was promised as excellent. It's good, but not as good as my Moto G5 Plus with Validus O.
I have the XT1926-3 4/64. Bought in The Netherlands. Codename is 'evert-n' (at least that's what it shows in ADB).
I don't see an FM Radio app, so I assume it doesn't have FM radio. But I usually listen radio via a digital radio app that works online. Way better sound quality and it works without wired headphone!
It does have an fm radio.
I switched from a Nexus 6p to the Moto g6 plus a couple of days ago.
It's a lot cheaper than the 6p was but definitely holds up against it.
It's fast and smooth. Display is very good outdoors in bright sunlight. Its front facing speaker is very loud, camera's are good and the software as it is almost stock Android is also excellent.
Battery life has been great. I am quite the heavy user, and never once with my 6p was I able to get through more then a day. Always ended my days in the 10% with 3h Screen on time.
The Moto g6 has gotten me 2 full days per charge with a screen on time of more then 5 hours. Even with me still downloading apps and installing things.
Only drawback I can find in the whole phone is that it is slippery as hell. A case can easily solve this. But its too bad because she is quite a looker...
This is actually off topic of the project trebble thread, bus as you guys were talking about the 6 plus, I thought I would weigh in.

Hi,
Extracted from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g6/development/moto-g6-plus-firmware-t3788735#post76484034 it seems that the Moto G6+ is "EVERT".
Regards.
How is the battery compared to the old Z Play? Here I have 14h sot. Maybe reachable just with the new G6 Play, right? I think I keep on Z Play. It's good enough. But G6 Plus seems to be great, too. Can anybody check treble support? It it's supported, it's looking like that. You can test it with this app "Treble Check". Thanks!

Well... The best option that I found, with a good performance & battery life for ~$300 is a Xiaomi RedMi Note 2. It's a pretty good phone, that can be rooted (or even comes pre-rooted out of the box). Has a 5" screen & runs on custom Android called MIUI that is loved all around the world [emoji1]

oh thank you very much! and thank you for info about big screen. that phone seems very intresting.
i really want to buy mate 8 and i love it but i'm afraid from one thing i'm a user that root his phone and use xposed and flash roms
my question is rooting and xposed will work on this phone without problems?
and i think for mate 8 there is no number of custom roms
it is nornal that the phone is new but my question is like after 2 years when the phone stop to recieve update it will be a custom rom for it ? like Cyanogen?
Root yes ,xposed not working, stock ROM is very good with Google now launcher
I don't believe that CM is making ROMs for Mate 8
Sent from my HUAWEI NXT-L29 using Tapatalk
Root works, xposed works, no cm ROM in sight but delete a bunch of bloat apps, replace them with Google apps instead, and use layers manager along with theme app for a very close to aosp ROM feel
Have to say, was very anxious to find out how Emui would be in practice. If it would be bloated, ugly, overkill, etc.
But now, after using the device for a few days, can honestly say that I wouldn't want it to be any other way! The amount of things you can change, set or extract techy data from is enormous. Don't want stock Android anymore. Don't want CM13. This is it. Emui rulez! :good:
It's fast, smooth, does it all. No regrets. Can't / won't downgrade to stock/ AOSP / CM

Mine doesn't even get warm. There are no dots on the screen either. Having a large battery makes it charge a little slower but mine charges fast if I use the original ac adapter and cable.

Hello everybody, I was wondering if someone could tell me the best mate8 model to buy I will be using it in the usa. I'm using the mate2 now and it is a solid mid-ranger. I have unlocked the bootloader and have cm13 running on it now. I would appreciate your suggestions on the mate8 models and why you pick it. Thanks..
I'm interested in buying a Mate 8 and I was wondering if you can shoot RAW pictures using the Mate 8?
I know that it has a "Pro Mode" option but I can't find any videos online showing a full indept review of that feature, so could anyone explain/elaborate on that?
Many thanks in advance!

Most Raw-capable camera apps you can download from the Play Store won't work as well due to crap implementation on Huawei's side:
Shame, really.

If you wish to buy a Huawei phone and need RAW image files, you have to wait for the release of P9 (April 16th) or P9 Plus (May 20th) that both offer this functionality.
Thank you guys for the reply.
That's really sad to hear then. My LG G4 recently died on me with the infamous boot loop problem and I can't get it fixed anytime soon. I might wait for reviews of the new P9 but I do like the Mate 8 as well though. I'd just have to sacrifice RAW function then =/

It's not only a matter of RAW vs non-RAW... P9/P9 Plus dual camera has been yet tested by some reviewers and defined a significant step forward compared to Mate 8 (but still worse than Samsung S7).

You are right, there's more to it than just RAW, but having RAW function is usually beneficial as you can process the picture later and not rely solely on the phone's image processor. Although if the phone's image processor is good to begin with then you shouldn't need RAW.
My G4 had RAW and I quite liked it, managed to get some good shots during my holiday before it died on me(luckily it died after my vacation was over, lol).
How is the Mate 8's Pro/Manual Mode? Is it any good?

If they release the same spec phone in US as in China, then the phone should be able to cover all bands, 2G/3G/4G.
I should be receiving this phone tomorrow, are there any methods to root the phone already?
I see there is TWRP support, so maybe just flash a Chainfire SuperSU zip?
I've been looking on the chinese forums, but google translate does some wrong translation I think.
Will unlocking the bootloader and installing custom ROM void warranty?
I'm also waiting the phone, probably tomorrow, and looking for a rooting method. Probably a simple SuperSU flash from twrp must work, we need to try...

Another question is the Dual Camera system: how different is the Honor 6X cameras from the Honor 8 cameras? I have noticed that the black-white sensor on Honor 6x is degraded from 12MP to 2MP, but I don't have a good feeling if this will make the photo taken blur or significantly worse than the Honor 8? Any photo samples would be appreciated! Thanks.

I ordered the U pro from GearBest. I will post my experience when I get it in a few days (or weeks ).
I usually root my phones but never tried one with a snapdragon. According to some accounts it is more difficult to root the snapdragon than the MTK.
Also the U pro is GMS certified. Which might be another hurdle.
I also ordered a phone with GearBest, I am also waiting and I hope that he will stay with me in a few days. I will share my impressions

Same here, the phone is on its way and I'll need some help to enable additional lte frequencies. What I've read in specs the "global" doesn't have a lot of useful bands for the US.
I order the U pro on Feb. 9 at GearBest and it arrived on Feb 15.
So far I am absolutely thrilled. Everything works. Some functions smoothly others like the finger print scanner can use some improvements.
I read some comments about NFC not working. Particularly with Android pay. But as I do not have that in my country of residence it is not a big issue for me. I tried NFC however but managed to transfer pic files only. It might be a short coming of the phone or my inexperience.
I also can not comment on the camera. For me the picture qualities are good enough because I buy phone with a camera and not a camera with a phone.
The battery charges fast and even with constant use it is sufficient for a hole day. But then I am also no gamer.
Anyone encountered a problem let us know. If you can add a solution to it even better.
ye also receiving today my u pro, would be nice if we could open a forum about it!

That's great if you can do that. I am just a user. I know how to tweak a phone but I don't know how to write code.
Google cam mod works
I got my phone 2 days ago and it works perfect. Camera needs more software tweeks. I menaged to install google pixel2 cam apk and it helps with low light noise in the original elephone app. Camera mod is for snapdragon 820/821 but it works on elephone. I think they have camera 2API enebeled. There are some hickups in app but just with slowmotion but that is app issue not phone issue.
Overall great phone. Everythink works great and the screen is beautifull. I am waiting for wireless charger to check that feature. Pardon my english.

I hope you can share your twrp. I for my part don't mind to spend a few dollars if it works well.
Also would be interested in rooting the U pro with Magisk. I had no problems with rooting the P9000 with superSu and Magisk. Magisk did root it but I never got around the safety net.
Also I did not manage to see the U pro in win explorer. The phone is recognized in the PC but doesn't show in explorer.

Hi All,
I recently got a Vernee X, and i have been attempting to Root it, to no avail. i am aware that some of these chinese phones have locked boot-loaders, or that you have to request to be allowed to root certain ones, im assuming that its something along these lines, as i am unable to root in the usual manner.
My question is does anyone know, if its possible to root, or is it too new, or if i do in fact need to unlock the bootloader, if so how to do it, or if i am missing something? i appreciate any advice, that anyone might have, i figured perhaps someone else has been in this position before.

I confirm that the Rom stock has several bugs. then it is very slow. this smartphone has a hardware that could be exploited better. i am hoping that this community can come up with some custom roms for the vernee x . I hope soon
after a few weeks of use, I can say that even if from the hardware point of view this smartphone vernee x is really remarkable:
- battery is excellent: even with various stresses I can finish three days. Never seen such a thing. And, also, it recharges really fast.
- satisfactory display and , with its 6 GB of ram and 128 ROM worth the money spent.
unfortunately, everything is not supported by adequate software.
photo and video compartment can be improved.
The fingerprint works only for unlocking but does not have any influence (practically it is as if it did not exist) on the apps that support it.
I tried to install sensor management apps but they do not work. Sometimes he "feels" his finger once and then goes off, sometimes he does not "feel" it.
There are no gesture like the dt2w or better known as double tap to awaken the cell (but is it so complicated to implement it in kernel?).
When I open some applications, for exple e-mail app, it takes a while to view leaving a nice white screen for about ten seconds.
I really hope that there are improvements because I would really like to abandon it: by now I have taken pleasure in the tranquility that gives me the battery
The phones battery life is excellent.
Both SIM CARDS are 4G
The Cameras are not very good - you need sunny days
It's smooth once it gets going but stutters here and there.
It is very well built with great button travel and very low tolerances with the fit and finish.
The screen is adequate. It's well constructed, sharp but the blacks are grey and there is some light bleed.
The back cover is some form of plastic NOT metal.
It feels good in the hand - even though it is quite thick. It's a very comfortable phone.
I have several flagship phones and you can feel, hear and see the difference. However - @200$ this is a supreme effort.
The phone looks like a flagship, handles nearly as well and absolutely buries everything in sight with its battery.
It has an FM radio!
It's very difficult for me to put this phone down!
Onward.
any rom development from any one for vernee x . please i want to see a lineage 14.1 or 15.1 port to the vernee x .
please i want to see also madOS port to the vernee x. i hope soon
Vernee X How to opend band 4
Hello Guys. I just buy a Vernee X and I find out the phone don't have band 4, so I can't get 4g. What is the best way to configure or get it? because is not listed in system.
The Phone is nice but only work 2g or Edge at AT&T .
With 'settings', Wi-Fi and Mobile network I can choose 2G, 3G and 4G...
i have the same problem, the phone donest have all the bands enabled, i need bands 4 and 5, to properly conect to the red.

The phone must be root in order to pick and enable, right now you don't have the option.
