Do we know how well this will work on T-Mobile here in the US? Support for the various LTE bands, Edge, whatever? (I know the Xiomi Mix doesn't support all of AT&T and TMobile's LTE bands, for instance)

If they release the same spec phone in US as in China, then the phone should be able to cover all bands, 2G/3G/4G.

I should be receiving this phone tomorrow, are there any methods to root the phone already?
I see there is TWRP support, so maybe just flash a Chainfire SuperSU zip?
I've been looking on the chinese forums, but google translate does some wrong translation I think.

Will unlocking the bootloader and installing custom ROM void warranty?

I'm also waiting the phone, probably tomorrow, and looking for a rooting method. Probably a simple SuperSU flash from twrp must work, we need to try...

Didn't see any words on NFC and BDS GPS system. Aren't they available on the US model or I have missed something?

Another question is the Dual Camera system: how different is the Honor 6X cameras from the Honor 8 cameras? I have noticed that the black-white sensor on Honor 6x is degraded from 12MP to 2MP, but I don't have a good feeling if this will make the photo taken blur or significantly worse than the Honor 8? Any photo samples would be appreciated! Thanks.

This phone don't come with NFC unfortunately

Of course, when you get the unlock code from HUAWEI, you will be warned by the site and you have to agree the terms before you get the code.

unlock, flash twrp and supersu zip, then you are fine.
Please be reminded that unlock will void your warranty.

Dual camera is just awesome.
FP is ultra fast. I have tested it many times and seems its way faster than another currently...Huawei claims this as 0.3 second but I tested between 0.18 to .23 seconds...thats hell faster.

Well... The best option that I found, with a good performance & battery life for ~$300 is a Xiaomi RedMi Note 2. It's a pretty good phone, that can be rooted (or even comes pre-rooted out of the box). Has a 5" screen & runs on custom Android called MIUI that is loved all around the world [emoji1]

[Q]Pixel 2/2XL Portrait mode and HDR+ on Pixel and Pixel XL possibility ?!?!?

I wonder if the new portrait algorithm and HDR+ will ever be able to make it to the Pixel/Pixel XL? I don't see why it could not be able to do it? From my understanding, the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL could be using the same camera as the HTC U11 since google bought out HTC's mobile department. Both cameras are 12mp 1.4um PDAF dual pixel sensors.
We all know how wonderful the original Pixel/Pixel XL sensor is so I don't see why google cannot make their new algorithm work. Hopefully a wonderful developer can take the apk and work their magic if google do not release an official update.
I wonder if the same Russian Developers BSG can extract the apk and do his thing like what he did with the modded version he has now. Sucks I can't type in Russian or else I would ask him myself.
me,too. For now there is just a camera apk with motion function
A little bit off topic but I'm wondering if there's any camera specially developed for the pixel on xda?

Why does everyone think that the portrait mode done on the Pixel 2 is purely software based? It's not, it has special hardware to do it, do people even read?

Yes it can't be, but see here, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exmor#List_of_Exmor_RS_sensors
IMO, Pixel 2 using same sensor camera (IMX 362, Dual-pixel, PDAF) hardware phone like HTC U11, ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom and even Moto G5 Plus.
So, if any dev can ported it software, maybe it can works with other phone with same sensor, support PDAF (dual-pixel).
I heard on a Pixel review video that the Pixel 2 Camera APK can be put onto the pixel... does anyone have a link on where this is done? Thanks!

No, lol. I was actually not being sarcastic by that comment so sorry if it sounded like that. Maybe I should have said, have fun instead haha. Those are safe but the newest ones are test/beta and there are some stable ones. Just go through the link and read up on changelogs and stuff. I use Arnovas gcam which I prefer. The different devs has different preference so basically you'll have to test them out for yourself and see what you prefer.

I ordered the U pro from GearBest. I will post my experience when I get it in a few days (or weeks ).
I usually root my phones but never tried one with a snapdragon. According to some accounts it is more difficult to root the snapdragon than the MTK.
Also the U pro is GMS certified. Which might be another hurdle.
I also ordered a phone with GearBest, I am also waiting and I hope that he will stay with me in a few days. I will share my impressions

Same here, the phone is on its way and I'll need some help to enable additional lte frequencies. What I've read in specs the "global" doesn't have a lot of useful bands for the US.
I order the U pro on Feb. 9 at GearBest and it arrived on Feb 15.
So far I am absolutely thrilled. Everything works. Some functions smoothly others like the finger print scanner can use some improvements.
I read some comments about NFC not working. Particularly with Android pay. But as I do not have that in my country of residence it is not a big issue for me. I tried NFC however but managed to transfer pic files only. It might be a short coming of the phone or my inexperience.
I also can not comment on the camera. For me the picture qualities are good enough because I buy phone with a camera and not a camera with a phone.
The battery charges fast and even with constant use it is sufficient for a hole day. But then I am also no gamer.
Anyone encountered a problem let us know. If you can add a solution to it even better.
ye also receiving today my u pro, would be nice if we could open a forum about it!

That's great if you can do that. I am just a user. I know how to tweak a phone but I don't know how to write code.
Google cam mod works
I got my phone 2 days ago and it works perfect. Camera needs more software tweeks. I menaged to install google pixel2 cam apk and it helps with low light noise in the original elephone app. Camera mod is for snapdragon 820/821 but it works on elephone. I think they have camera 2API enebeled. There are some hickups in app but just with slowmotion but that is app issue not phone issue.
Overall great phone. Everythink works great and the screen is beautifull. I am waiting for wireless charger to check that feature. Pardon my english.

Project Treble

So in some of the news articles a lot of people were complaining that moto have a bad track record when it comes to updates. I'd like to point out that these new phones are releasing with Oreo which means that they have project treble. This makes it far far easier to adapt updates and roms to these phones so even if moto don't bother expect to have all the options! XD

It should be arriving today. Once I have it set-up, I'll try to say something useful about it
Edit: the phone arrived. Setting it up now. Until now everything is smooth. The screen is really nice. Speed is great. Pity to see that 'out of the box' 20% of the internal 64 gb is already taken by the OS and it's native apps.
For now I didn't figure out if the OS is 64 bit or 32 bit.
The camera(s) is (are) really awesome! For now no regrets! But the phone still has a locked bootloader and no root. So for now I can't really check everything. But that's only a matter of time...

Compass and NFC work both fine. I didn't deliberately test GPS, but location service works fine. And sorry, I really, really hate substratum! No theming for me. One of the reasons that I buy a 'stock android' phone without a skin.
Only little disappointment for now is the battery life. That was better on my Moto G5 Plus with Validus O, but it still brings me through the day.
Here is the complete list of sensors I found on my Moto G6 Plus!

The battery life was promised as excellent. It's good, but not as good as my Moto G5 Plus with Validus O.
I have the XT1926-3 4/64. Bought in The Netherlands. Codename is 'evert-n' (at least that's what it shows in ADB).
I don't see an FM Radio app, so I assume it doesn't have FM radio. But I usually listen radio via a digital radio app that works online. Way better sound quality and it works without wired headphone!
It does have an fm radio.
I switched from a Nexus 6p to the Moto g6 plus a couple of days ago.
It's a lot cheaper than the 6p was but definitely holds up against it.
It's fast and smooth. Display is very good outdoors in bright sunlight. Its front facing speaker is very loud, camera's are good and the software as it is almost stock Android is also excellent.
Battery life has been great. I am quite the heavy user, and never once with my 6p was I able to get through more then a day. Always ended my days in the 10% with 3h Screen on time.
The Moto g6 has gotten me 2 full days per charge with a screen on time of more then 5 hours. Even with me still downloading apps and installing things.
Only drawback I can find in the whole phone is that it is slippery as hell. A case can easily solve this. But its too bad because she is quite a looker...
This is actually off topic of the project trebble thread, bus as you guys were talking about the 6 plus, I thought I would weigh in.

Hi,
Extracted from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g6/development/moto-g6-plus-firmware-t3788735#post76484034 it seems that the Moto G6+ is "EVERT".
Regards.
How is the battery compared to the old Z Play? Here I have 14h sot. Maybe reachable just with the new G6 Play, right? I think I keep on Z Play. It's good enough. But G6 Plus seems to be great, too. Can anybody check treble support? It it's supported, it's looking like that. You can test it with this app "Treble Check". Thanks!

For treble the two are green (treble and seamless system updates)

GPU Turbo

I got it GPU Turbo, because I don’t play games, there’s no difference, well, maybe only an extra couple of thousands were added to the AnTuTu
Don't you have to enable 'Game mode' inside 'Game suite' app for it to work ?
I guess it only really work with 'huawei optimized game'
You're on C00GTB355 ? Which STF device variant ?

So STF-L19 really exist in real world...
6GB RAM ?

What's its LTE/4G bands compatibility ?

Rebrand should not have changed lte bands capability...
No) 4/64
About your LTE bands supported by hardware, it's not shown on system.
Actually, to test/determine it you have to:
- use android app 'LTE Discovery' when connected to a lte network
- knowing your country lte bands helps
- knowing your carrier supported lte bands helps
- knowing bands available for a determined lte antenne helps
I know differences beetwen ALx0, TL10 and L09 but I'm wondering about L19...
Or did you mean STF-L09 and not L19 ?

Thanks, but I don't need it anymore. I reverted back to B371, because I had problems with calls and now my phone is bricked. Even DC-Phoenix can't revive it.
I'm still on B365 hope it's out soon.
How?
How did you get the GPU TURBO update in October is its supposed to be released in November.
Notification came today, but Games app is missing.

If games app is missing do a factory reset and it should appear again
I just got the 376 update and it finally includes the GPU Turbo
Any improvement?
