I have downloaded TomTom v6.01 software and the Britain Map from XDA-Developers FTP server. I have tried it for the whole day but didn't get it work. I think I am not so weak in this technology but it seems I am a newbie here.
I did it the following steps.
1. Extract the TomTom_v6.01_install.zip, I found no .exe files in it, only a ttn6_setup.cab and other directories under directory of TomTom. I think this pack is for the installation on my PPC. So I copied the whole dorectory of TomTom to the PPC, under "My douments".
2. open file explorer, click on ttn6_setup.cab. It begins to install. It seems success is in my hand but,
3. after the installation finished, I extracted another RAR file which named Great_Britain_V650_Map.RAR. It creared another directory of Great_Britain_V650_Map. Entering into it, I found another directory of Great_Britain and some files under it. After reading some threads on the net, I created a directory on the SD card with the name of Great_Britain-map and then copied all the files into it.
4. Run TomTom navigator by click on start->programm->Tomtom, it went through some steps of setting language, voice, right or left hand, etc. Then it says "no maps found".
I have managed to sort this issue out in the whole day but invain. So anybody else can help me?
Thanks!
You can give this a try
- On your PC create a new text file (in notepad) called CurrentMap.txt
- In the text file write \Storage Card\Great_Britain_V650_Map\
- Save the text file
- Rename the txt file to CurrentMap.dat
- Create a folder on the device in the My Documents folder called TomTom
- Copy the new .dat file into the TomTom folder
Thanks for your reply. But still no happy.
I think I didn't do anything wrong. I followed the instruction on the net and did it in a right way. but it's strange.
Anybody else can help? Thanks!

Dear Raven2000 I appreciate your notice & complain about the piracy to the Moderators, you did a good job for that post, but sadly you have neglected someone's need, as TENMAN have asked the FTP address but you have forgotten to help him, didn't you? I think we should help a member specially if we know the answer for their query despite to think of their Juniority or Seniority.
Anyway the FTP address is as follows, I think you might need that as well:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Software/TomTom v6 - Full Version with GB Map/
Please be helpfull

Tenman find the FTP address in my previous post, but according to my advice I have downloaded them and that TomTom is unable to search for the Maps (once installed). Finally I have managed to solve the problem with TomTom6+GB Map+Speed Camera. contact me on email.
GoodLuck
Sidd
There are some FlashDrv problems with TTN6 (or not supported issues).
You can easily overcome this by changing you "My Documents" shell folder
location. Point it at your card.

I didn't help as helping will lead to piracy. Surely having a copy of Great Britian maps on the FTP server is piracy?
Anyway, I am not taking any part in requests involving commercial applications. Besides dealing with piracy is the job of Administrators and Moderators, I don't know why I waste my time
So are you refering it to the ""Administrators and Moderators"", that they are keeping pirated stuff on their ftp?
Sidd
Without getting into the ins and outs of piracy.....
Did anyone find a conclusive way to make sure that TomTom 6.x picks up the maps on the SD Card...?
Yes I have Dibbler, email me on hotmail if you want the solution, its gonna be around 200mb, asap

I will say that we have been recently advised to remove Tom Tom from the FTP and we have complied..
This topic should not only be closed, but also deleted. Mods do your homework.
Guys, I can't believe you can be so bloody stupid.
I post and post about not distributing warez through this forum and the ftp and you guys still do it.
As I've said before this forum is a public resource - if you distribute warez through here, or "cleverly" upload it to the ftp you're not doing any of us favours. The mods have discussed this, but frankly I'm sick of guys abusing this board. We're not children. We all know how to use torrentz. Go and do your warez there. But not here.
I'm borderline on whether we should permit discussion on how to set up your clearly warez'd copies of TomTom or anything else, but frankly, this is going to be my policy as of today:
- I'm going to forward this thread to TomTom.
- I'm going to volunteer ip addresses for everyone on this thread so that they can take the matter up themselves.
And in future, if it happens again, I'm banning anyone who distributes warez. 1 warning, then an immediate ban. And if necessary, I'll start posting ip addresses publically in case any software author wants to take the issue up further.
Please note: I try not to be a hypocrite. I've expressly stated that the forum operates on a knife edge already
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1082343&postcount=5
but you can be significantly more sensible then posting warez, uploading or stating that you've downloaded them. This is your public posting, not mine. You are implicating yourself in the piracy, not me. We're a very open minded board, and what you do in your own time is your business. But do it publically and you risk yourself AND the board.
And if you risk the board, you put at risk something that I admire. Please don't do that. I've said before, if you're such a noob that you can't even find warez without someone showing you, write to me. I'll point you in the right direction. But please don't post or upload warez on this forum/ftp.
V
PS. I can't believe TomTom make it near impossible to find their email address. Lol, they really don't help themselves.

Dear sir or madam. I am a moderator of the website, xda-developers.com.
I direct your attention to the following thread:

I am concerned that users are publically posting software which may consist of pirated copies of your software.
If you require assistance in identifying any of these members, please feel free to contact me.

an OP in a thread I followed referred to a post # for someone to check which I want to do also. I have myself used links to specific posts (which he did NOT do), but I am wondering if there is a way to go to a post number like there is a way to go to a page number. If not, put in the suggestion box.
this may be wrong forum to ask in, if so, sorry, mods please move

Not in the xda app or tapatalk that I know of, if this is what you are asking then a good place can be right here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841646
If you are referring to on a PC then unless it is linked (yes you can link just a post rather than a whole thread) again at least not that I am aware of, but I rarely have a chance to sit in front of a PC so another great place to ask would be here

You can also request this feature at either thread
Hope you find what you're after
Hello,
I have finally joined the forum hoping to find out what if anything if going on with my phone. I have several screen shots of various instances that seem out of the ordinary. To top it off I found a ton of txt files with my phones information on it from Maa360. I desperately want to know if I'm under an administrators account and am possibly being monitored. All the way down. To my Gmail email. I think there is an administrator account over me there too. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.
Hello,
Welcome to XDA.
Personally, I think you might just be paranoid.
I have no idea what you mean by "having an administrator account" over you.
Try posting your question in the forum linked below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
The experts there nay be able to help.
I ask this because the site I have to be able to visit and function 24/7 is aspx-based. Here is some details to understand my issue.
The site is an affiliate-type one and I transfer money from once bank account to users, and I have to do it, when they ask it.
So, it's not a big deal for me to do that, when I'm at my workplace or my home, but I have life and I cannot be 16 hours a day at home. When I tried to access the website from my smartphone (TCL 5042D) using Chrome and Firefox and Browser (phone's own browser)(I encountered the same problem at the same spot from all 3 of them-I'll explain the problem right now), I logged in just fine. The customer's accounts are in one page and from there simply press the + or - buttons (depends on what the customer wants) and then a popup will appear, having a 2 boxes that I have to write the amount of money and a description for the transaction. As soon as I press to the boxes, the smartphone zooms as it supposed to be (in order to see what you're typing) and the popup dissapears from the screen disabling me to press the ok and to put description.
What, do you believe? Could it be a bad-written aspx site, or is it natural to react that way? And what do you suggest?
(English is not my mother language, and if you find any difficulty to comprehend the text above, post to the thread your question, in order to clarify what you didn't understand)

Register an XDA account to post and reply in the forums. Good luck.
There are extensive possibilities to edit an XDA account. Your can specify and fiddle with almost everything. But:
The essential option 'delete account' is missing!
This should have been implemented directly after the 'register account' functionality. Actually even before that!
Please fix this! (In fact, this is not a 'feature request' but a bug report.)
Regards.

This may not be something that is clearly pointed out for many but, it's available.
If you go to the following link...
https://www.xda-developers.com/contact/
... You'll see various options available to you like the "Change username or cancel an account."
If that preferred method doesn't work out for you, you can also contact an administrator like @MikeChannon via PM or email and he'll be more than happy to help you out with account management/support.
Good Luck!

Unless asked to do so, PLEASE don't PM me regarding support. Sent using The ClaRetoX Forum App on my Apple Macintosh.

Sorry, it's NOT available. What you tell me to do, is to fill out the contact form. That's not what is widely considered as a web interface.
Or would you say, the 'register new user' functionality was complete by saying: "Well, just send an email to the administrator and beg for an account."
I suppose not. I'm disappointed by that answer.

Yeah, that's better than nothing. But:
I can edit my user profile and settings just like that, while I am logged in. I don't have to type in my user name and email again and again. How does that work? Well: because I am logged in already!
But the said deletion process totally ignores that I am logged in. I have to enter my details again and then have a verification... yaaawn.
Why do sites like XDA put up so many artificial obstacles for people to get away.
The easier a process is, the more likely people will follow it. So, if the process was just one or two clicks away, your could boost the number of canceled accounts. Wouldn't that be something?

Well small sites and sites that moderate content before it shows in open forums may allow user controlled account deletion. However, many larger sites and sites that permit user content to show instantly, generally do not allow users/members to delete their own accounts. Why? well because it opens the door to assive amounts of abuse. A user could post all kinds of bad stuff and then delete the account thus making the culprit uncatchable, unstoppable. You see an account deletion that is compliant with GDPR meansno trace is left of the account. That means remaining posts cannot be tracked and cannot even be found since the user database no longer recognises the account. So we would have no idea where the user had posted or how many times... important if it is abusive or spam content.
In addition user controlled account deletion would render anning users effectively useless because the user wouldb still need access to the sites account deletion system even if banned. It would allow them to delete their account and simply create another one immediately.
We have multiple thousands of users online at a time, 60000 posts per day and because we cannot monitor all that in real time we have to have some control over what the "bad" users are doing. Changing user names and creating / deleting accounts every other day are things we would be 100% guaranteed to suffer from if we handed over direct control. We have massive numbers of users and inevitably we are constantly challenged by hackers, DDOS attackers, spammers and other abusers and the ability to create and delete accounts with ease is not a good idea for us or the "good" users who would suffer the ill effects if we changed things.
Mike
Thanks for the clarification.
