Back to Stock problem: Honor 6X BLN-L24 US - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

I have read most of the existing threads on going back to stock for Honor 6X BLN-L24 US version, and still have issues with dload method.
Background:
- unlocked bootloader, installed twrp, installed Elite Rom 7.7
- decided to get back to stock and installed various version of FullOTA-MF-PV using dload. The install gets successful at 100% using dload method, however, the screen is blank after restart.
- tried to install these files, all of them successful at 100%, but screen blank after restart.
BLN-L24C567B342 FullOTA-MF-PV;
BLN-L24C567B360 FullOTA-MF-PV
- bootloader is locked by dload, and I cannot unlock anymore because I do not save the unlock key. Now, since the phone only loads in fastboot mode, I cannot get all information needed to get unlock key.
Information from fastboot:
- I am assuming that "NRD90M test-keys" and/or "hi6250" product model is the issue, searched on forums, but did not find anything that helps for BLN-L24 US version.
Code:
C:\Users\user>fastboot getvar rescue_version
rescue_version: rescue0.5
C:\Users\user>fastboot getvar rescue_phoneinfo
rescue_phoneinfo: NRD90M test-keys
C:\Users\user>fastboot oem get-product-model
(bootloader) hi6250
C:\Users\user>fastboot getvar vendorcountry
vendorcountry: hw/usa
C:\Users\user>fastboot oem get-psid
(bootloader) SN:HSMDUxxx
(bootloader) IMEI:8629xxx
(bootloader) IMEI1:8629xxx
- The following message comes up when the phone loads up. This message is different from the message I had when bootloader was locked.
Code:
Your device has failed verification and may not work properly.
1. press power to continue
2. press volume up key up to 3 seconds to enter recovery to restore your device.
3. your device will stop start, if there is no operation.
I have researched on the following forums, but still did not figure out the problem or the solution:

Please refer to this thread to downgrade to roll back to marshmellow.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/roll-to-marshmallow-bln-l22-t3618942
Summary of Problem:
The custom ROM that I installed was andriod 7.0+, and using dload method would NOT work without rollback to Andriod 6.0.
Here is the steps I have followed (Honor 6X-BLN24 US version).
https://www.hihonor.com/us/support/search-result/index.html?keywords=honor 6x
1. From the above website, download the following two files, and install them using dload method.
1.a. HONOR 6X ROLLBACK PACKAGE (Berlin-L24HN, From Android7.0 to Android6.0, C900B300, United States)
1.b. HONOR 6X FIRMWARE (Berlin-L24HN, C567B110, Android 6.0_EMUI 4.1, United States)
2. After installing both files, wipe the data/cache using regular recovery (Volume UP + power button)

relocked Honor 8, and now it does not boot

Same as https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/honor-8-bricked-please-help-t3656639, but I removed TWRP prior to relocking.
I have an Honor 8 phone, with firmware version FRD-L09C185B360.
Several months ago, I unlocked my Honor 8, installed TWRP, and rooted the device successfully.
Today, for some arguably wrong reason, I decided to relock my phone. So, I restored stock recovery, and issued:
Code:
fastboot oem relock <PIN>
After rebooting, it said something about the data partition being seriously damaged, and presented two options: (1) wipe the data partition, and (2) shutdown. I had no choice but to pick the wipe option, and now the phone does not boot. Here's the exact situation:
Normal boot
Phone enters "Huawei eRecovery" mode, with three choices:
Download latest version and recovery
Reboot
Shutdown
By picking the first option, it connects to my WIFI, and after some struggling, says "Getting package info failed".
Booting while power + volume up is pressed
Device enters "Huawei eRecovery" as above.
Booting while USB is connected, and power + volume down is pressed
Phone enters "FASTBOOT & RESCUE" mode.
It asks to open HiSuite.
HiSuite has an option "System Recovery", which struggles a bit, and then says "Your device is not supported for system recovery"
In this mode, I can issue "fastboot" commands, but not "adb" commands:
Code:
[B]fastboot oem get-bootinfo[/B]
...
(bootloader) unlocked
OKAY [ 0.005s]
finished. total time: 0.006s
Interestingly, it says that bootloader is unlocked, while the device screen shows the status "PHONE Relocked. FRP Lock"
I also tried unlocking the bootloaded again, but to no avail:
Code:
[B]fastboot oem unlock <PIN>[/B]
...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.018s
Trying to install TWRP has the same result:
Code:
[B]fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-frd.img[/B]
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (22794 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.636s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.666s
Booting while power + volume down + volume up is pressed
It tries to install an update package. When there's no update package, it says:
Code:
Software install failed!
The update package does not exist.
Please download the package again.
I also tried downloading the update package. I tested the following, individually:
FRD-L09C185B360.zip (1.38 GB)
FRD-L09C185B380.zip (1.31 GB)
FRD-L09C185B385.zip (1.30 GB)
For each ZIP file, I performed this process:
Extracted "UPDATE.APP"
Copied UPDATE.APP into "dload" folder of an external SD-Card
Booted the phone using power+up+down combo
In all cases, I encountered the error:
Code:
Software install failed!

Do you have a suggestion on what I should do?
http://www.hihonor.com/de/support/software-list/index.html
Go to the upper link and download the rollback img for your L09 and then dload the UPDATE.APP.
Maybe it boots up and u r lucky. If not...
Then you flash a full size Marshmalow UPDATE.APP.
You have to know that there are smaller Updates only containing the update files and those only can be flashed over current working android installations.
So go with a full sized marshmallow UPDATE.APP for your device..

Thanks for the response. I tried the rollback package. It says:
Code:
Software install failed!
Incompatibility with current version.
Please download the correct update package.
I guess one of the two things:
Current android is Nougat, but the rollback is for Marshmallow.
The "cust"s are incompatible (if I'm using the correct word). Mine is C185 (middle east), but the site you provided gives C432 (Europe).
So, I can download the full Marshmallow image "Honor 8 Firmware (FRD-L09, Android 6.0, EMUI 4.1, C432B131, Germany)" from the website.
But the custs will be incompatible again. Any idea on where to get a C185 image of Marshmallow?

Kudos to both @Rommco05 and @oberfeldwedler! You are geniuses!
Here's some info for others:
Phone model: Huawei Honor 8
Model No: FRD-L09
Firmware: FRD-L09C185B360
I rolled back from the above to the following:
Rollback: HONOR 8 Rollback Package (FRD-L09, from Android 7.0 EMUI 5.0 to Android 6.0 EMUI 4.0, C185B300, MiddleEast&Africa)
Marshmallow Image: HONOR 8 Firmware (FRD-L09, Android6.0, EMUI4.1, C185B130, MiddleEast&Africa)
I would provide a link, but I need more post counts before the forum allows me to post links. Simply search "FRD-L09, Android 6.0, EMUI 4.1" in Google, and follow the first link on Huawei official site.

As Rommco05 explained. Here's a bit longer description:
Download an "official" rollback (official is important, as the phone verifies the image before allowing you to install it).
Extract UPDATE.APP from the rollback ZIP file.
Copy UPDATE.APP on the "dload" folder of an external SD card (create the folder if it does not exist).
Shutdown the phone, and insert the SD card.
Push volume Up+Down+Power for about 10-15 seconds.
The phone starts installing the rollback.
After the rollback is installed, do the same for the full Marshmallow "official" image.
PS: This process is only tested for Huawei Honor 8. Dunno if it works for other phones.

Honor 6x BLN22 Semi Bricked! Help!

Hi! This is my first post and going to be a long one! But kindly excuse me! I need HELP!
I have Semi bricked my Honor 6x firmware (bln-l22, android 6.0, emui 4.1, c675b132, india channel) while trying to manually update it to Nougat which I downloaded from "stechguide.com/honor-6x- b360-nougat-update". I downloaded the Asian version. I accidentally extracted and flashed update_data_full_BLN-L22_hw_spcseas.zip instead of the update.zip first. The update_data_full_BLN-L22_hw_spcseas.zip file got to 100% installed and then went to Huawei eRecovery. Then I couldn't flash the update.zip. I get a software install failed. Also tried to manually flash to stock Rom and other newer update versions of Nougat on SD card again but I get software install failed or Incompatible for this phone. I tried to factory hard reset but this also fails. I can wipe only the cache and reboot which goes again to eRecovery. The eRecovery on wifi does not work either. I looked up booting to safe mode but nothing happens.
After reading a lot on this forum, I tried minimal adb and fastboot. My device in fastboot & rescue mode shows up on minimal adb and fastboot when I type "fastboot devices" command (but adb devices gives no devices/emulator found). It also shows up as Android Phone (Android sooner Single ADB Interface) in Device manager on PC and android drivers is upto date. The Huawei suite loads up but can't connect to it (can't enable hdb).
My phone is boot locked, FRP locked, not rooted (and impossible to enable usb debug) so I can't flash any commands like recovery.img, system.img or twrp and cwm recovery. I always get the remote command not allowed.
Right now, On starting my device, Honor logo shows up, vibrates and goes dark twice then to eRecovery.
All the other combination functions of Power, Vol - and Vol + works.
Please help me restore my Honor 6x to stock or update to Nougat! Thanks a ton!
extract update.zip. Get the UPDATE.APP.
create a "dload" directory to your sdcard. copy UPDATE.APP in this folder
shutdown phone / unplug phone.
hold on VOL + + VOL - + POWER
UPDATE.APP will install. Then shutdown phone. remove UPDATE.APP from dload directory. Extract UPDATE.APP from second zip (smallest one: update_data_full_BLN-L22_hw_spcseas.zip)
copy this new UPDATE.APP into dload folder on sdcard.
Shutdown phone / unplug
hold on VOL + + VOL - + POWER
When install complete, try to boot, if not boot, recovery into recovery and wipe cache / data

Heya! Thanks for the reply.
Can you be more specific about Which ROM to use? The stock ROM or the Newer Nougat Firmware for my phone model?
I have tried the following:
Honor 6X B132 Stock ROM and Honor 6X B320, 330, 360. Yet to try B320, 340 & 342 Firmwares.
I don't remember which one says incompatible, wrong update package or software update failed after 6% installation but bottom line is they all fail to install. I can't do a Hard reset and only wipe cache. I do wipe cache before flashing with SD card dload method but still unsuccesful.:fingers-crossed:

Help! L29C432 Mate 8 bricked

Hi,
I believe I bricked my Mate 8 when I wanted to go back from rooted B320 to stock firmware via offered OTA. After OTA ran through device rebooted and got stucked in black screen. After this I tried flashing everything to get the device back working: dload B320, dload B330, dload B180, rollback method etc. Some of the trimes the dload ran through to 100% but after reboot the Huawei logo appeared and after 2 seconds I get a black screen. When I reinstall TWRP for EMUI 4.1 I it can't mount data and storage. I treid to restore an older backup with no sucess (backup was installed but phone not booting)
What I still can do is:
-enter fastboot mode
-unlock bootloader
-flash files via fastboot
-install and boot into TWRP for 4.1
Is there a step by step guide to get this device back working to stock firmware?
Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Try installing a rollback package that corresponds to your firmware. I tried 2 and failed at 5%. When I put the update.app from b330 on SD card and tried dload method, it worked. Only difference was my screen wasn't going black. I think the problem is the same as I had, Your phone is trying to find the boot.img but can't because what you have is incompatible.
Have a look at somboons post in mate 8 development. SRK tool is pretty good for mate 8 and other Huawei devices. Read the posts. I think rollback packages are your best bet though.

I think I hard-bricked my phone

I was trying to root my phone but messed up really bad. Before, whenever I bricked my phone, I just used the dload (UPDATE.APP) method to fix it. But now, when I put a UPDATE.APP file in my SD card and press Vol Up+Down+Power. It doesn't go into dload. It just gets stuck into Your phone is booting up.
Now I only have access to fastboot mode and TWRP. Nothing else. TWRP says no OS Installed
What was your build number and what's your model number?
If you can boot into bootloader mode:
1. Download a firmware compatible for your honor from firmware finder for huawei
2. Download and install huawei extractor
3. Extract system.img, boot.img, recovery.img from the firmware
4. Plug your phone to the computer and boot into bootloader
5. Open command prompt and type:
Fastboot flash system system.img
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
6. Shut down your phone and boot into recovery
7. Perform a factory reset
8. Should be done!

Hello,
So it's a rebranded phone, many of imported Honor phones come rebranded by reseller...
I advise you to debrand your phone, a rebranded chinese phone from chinese to europe version can't get working firmware above B380.
To do that, you need to unlock your bootloader and root your device. (Guide: here)
Then you can use this tool to change "vendor/country": Huawei_Multi-Tool_by_Team_MT_v7.1.exe (Avoid v8 update if you can, but if you can't you can launch "v7.1" from v8 interface)

how to upgrade huawei mate 8 firmware from EMUI 4.0 to EMUI 8.0?

the firmware was stock from old days with EMUI 4.0+ Android 6 (B197). how to upgrade it to EMUI 8+oreo (B820)?
I have downloaded the B820 for the model. when upgrading from project menu, it says the B820 is not compatible with current version.
the bootloader has been unlocked.
please help. Thanks!
update1: seems I didnt get the correct files. trying again now.
update2:
downloaded those fullOTA-MF files for B852. installed them. after reboot, the device boot-loops. it will boot with "android" on the screen then reboot after a while. in bootloader mode, "fastboot oem get-build-number" shows 8.0.0.0146, so it does upgrade to B8XX. good news is that fastboot still works, and bootloader is still unlocked. but bad news is that it boot-loops now...
then questions are
1) how to get it boot up, at least show what goes wrong during booting?
2) any TWRP working with emui8 on mate8?
3) how to go back to emui 5 or 4?
Please help! thanks
I've managed to update from B368 to B852 by flashing B592 first and then flashing B835, afterwards, go into settings and update via OTA from there
