Any way to get access to the b/w camera?

Is there any app or hack to get access to the b/w mode like with the P9?

Okay my bad. I meant the b/w camera. B/w mode in honor 8 still uses the color camera.
I think even p9 uses same method as honor 8, that is filtering..
Whoever got p9 device, try covering the mono lense with finger in monochorome mode..if its showing popup that covering the lense, than that mono sensor just used for sharpening and details.
The honor 8 can't get solo access to the bw camera, it's just a filter for the colored lens. The p9 bw is the real deal
https://robinwong.blogspot.my/2016/08/a-full-monochrome-image-sensor.html?m=1
I did a little poking and digging with the "large aperture" jpegs produced by Honor 8. Because you can change the focus and fake bokeh afterwards, the jpeg has to contain extra data in addition to the final image (large aperture jpegs are much bigger than normal ones).
It turns out that those jpegs contain actually two jpegs in the file. First the fake-bokeh result, and then the original jpeg shot with the colour sensor. But there's almost a megabyte of data in addition to these jpegs. I tried to find out if that data is directly an image from the monochrome sensor (which is used to ccalculate depth information for the fake bokeh), but didn't manage to figure out the format of that data (and ran out of extra time).
IF that extra data is directly a monochrome image, then it would be easy to write an app which takes a large-aperture jpeg and extracts the monochrome sensor image from it. However, if the data is processed (into depth-map or similar), then this approach wouldn't work. I'll see if I can get anything out of the data when I'm less busy.

That's what I've heard about the Honor 8 with regards to the monochrome lens.
I'm wondering if you could do something as crude as flash a custom rom for the P9, and then just flash the H8 stock boot.img to maintain the kernel? I need to unlock my bootloader so I can start playing around.
*#2846#
Actually, you can acces and only test RGB and Mono camera in Honor 8 using some built in hardware tests by typing in *#2846#.
And no, it's not using bw filter. Try covering one lens while testing.
So, if that app can acces both bw and rgb cameras individually, maybe someone can write a simple app using code found in that test app.
You can just use the monochrome mode and it only uses the b/w lens.
They patched it in a few version ago, can't remember precisely when.
Right now on B394 it works fine

[CLOSED] Google Camera + Night Sight - UPDATE 3 (PIE VERSION) [CLOSED]

Well, this camera is working on our phones with Night Sight.
Install the camera, go to settings ---> Mod Settings ---> Fix ----> Raw Sensor - change it to RAW_SENSOR.
After that, go back to settings ---> Photo ---> Advanced ---> Night Sight and enable Alternative Config 8.1, go back to viewfinder and done. ALREADY SET!
Now comes the hardest part, we need help with the settings, because the photos are overexpoded, high ISO and things like that. To be honest, I don't know how works most of the settings, so please, if you find the right settings, share it with us HERE everyone could enjoy the benefits of this app, we're a community, so we help each other, don't forget that. The config is more stable now.

UPDATE 3:
I uploaded 2 files, one for normal shoot and the other for black and white photos.
I have to say that I just edited the files to make it work on our devices, Monochrome xml was taken from a telegram group (OP6/OP6T), thanks to Jean-Luc for this mod.
Download the XML file that I attached and save it into Gcam/Configs (folder inside internal memory).
Now, check the photo that I posted and open Gcam and double tap to restore the config.
Note: You'll need to tap to focus before take the photo, to avoid overexposed photos o errors.
I took both files (camera and configs) from a telegram group, so, Thanks to the guys who modded the app and edited the config, thank you very much! What a great job was done

next steps are explained in other posts here .... "Gcam" folder in internal memory , inside it create a new named "Configs" and this folder put XML file
open Gcam apk ,click twice anywhere in a place between shooter and left icon for change camera back-front , it will appear a window with restore settings "nico...." you just save it in "Configs" . That's it !

i tried using night sight and it just sat there and it wouldnt load .....but the other features worked,
Portrait mode is not working ....
Photos with the front camera do not change compared to those of the native camera, the face does not get more details as with the ports of the GCAM 5.1
Can someone re upload the Nico-NormalShoot+NightSight.xml please? I need it for gcam and when I click the original one it says it's unavailable.
Photobooth Crash
Only monochrome file
Only the monochrome file is working ?
Do you need Root ?? I do not see a GCAM folder in my file explorer.
I tried to install on Motorola One Macro and then Motorola One Vision. I followed the tutorial to the letter. But it crashes on both handsets right after installing and opening.

Hi,
Is there any update for this cam? I've tried in night sight using the xml files but all of the pictures are just coming exaggeratedly overexposed and with a lot of noise.
Thanks in advance for the help
it's amazing, I take photos without light and I was surprised, really thank you very much for this development, I will attach 2 photos in comparison of the difference.

Try setting it off. It would work.
Interestingly when I set it to her on pictures are having overblown whites. And with hdr+ enhanced it's not taking pictures at all... Android 10 here. Any suggestions?
It doesn't work anymore, the hdr shows processing, and after turning the hdr off, it won't click pictures
Update after Android 10
I faced the same problem of HDR processing never ending after Android 10 upgrade. However, the photos still seem to turn out okay. Thanks for this port! I'm running it on Motorola One Action.
Hello,
What level of "Camera2 API" is enabled on "Motorola One Action"?
"Full" or "Level 3" ???
Example Image Attached: DevCheck in Xiaomi Mi 9T (Level 3)

Stock cam vs gcam (without ia /edit)

Here you can compare shots on realme 5 pro stock vs gcam (main cam) . The result are the same on x2 phone and others phone. Colors and contrast are too strong on the native app, more unatural. Thanks to all developpers! https://photos.app.goo.gl/qUoNtF34C6wEQkVx5

Hello. thank you, yes then first of all I used the xml file "anand" then I was in the advanced parameters / activate modifications of libraries / and changed the shadows to - 1 instead of 6 (dark). for the wide angle you just have to activate it manually in advanced settings.

Hello,
Would you be able to share a main camera RAW file from the GCAM and the Stock cam ?
Also, from what I have seen with the media photo samples is that the stock 64mpx mode is way better than the 16mpx JPG.
There is more color info and better sharpness on the 64mpx JPG when downscaled with software like PhotoShop to 16mpx.
Would be very interesting to compare a stock DNG, GCAM DNG and stock 64mpx JPG to see what we can find out.
Really interested in buying this phone if the RAW files are good.
Thank you and have a nice weekend !

I increased the contrast to 1,5 in the avdanced parameters instead 1 because with anand xml the contrast is a little bit too flat..

Hello, Google Photos doesn't let me download the DNG file(downloads only a jpg from the DNG - They also compress the dng files).
Would you be able to upload the DNG into another file sharing page ?
Also, could you share a 64mpx photo from the stock cam and a GCAM dng of the same shot ?
I'll post my findings here.
Thank you for the help!

Gcam review and xml

Hi all
I searched for examples of such topics on this site, which are the most up-to-date versions gcam Check and present. But I did not find anything. So I decided to create this topic
In This thread i want to review new gcam after released
In addition to reviewing the latest gcams, different settings are also made for different phones
Also in this topic, we try to provide the best settings and versions for different phones
First of all I want to review new gcam....
The name is aspen
It made by ai-ro and he use 8.1 gcam base
I test and share it with all freind and all of them also like it
Every one said output and color is very good
List of phone tested .... Poco f2pro . Poco x3 . Mi10 . Mi10 lite . Mi note 10 pro . Mi note 10 lite . mi9 lite . Redmi note 9 series . Redmi note 8 series
Fortunately it support xml and can load it very easy . Make a folder by name (ConfigsSettings8)
In main root of internal storage and copy xml file in this
So open the camera and double tap in area between shutter bottom and gallery.after that choose config and push save
Mod Edit: Telegram link removed
Second one I want to explain about new other gcam . It made by pitbull and base gcam 7.4
Output and color is great and also about 10 xml on base . U don't need to do anything.just double tap double tap in area between shutter bottom and gallery.after that choose config and push save
I also uploaded my xml for this gcam.
Configs root : copy xml to folder .... ConfigsSettings7.4
Mod Edit: Telegram link removed

Bulk Edit portrait mode pictures on Windows / Android / iOS

Hi guys, my situation is the following:
I took alot of portrait mode pictures on a Samsung Note 8 (it was called "Live Focus") and on a Xiaomi Mi 9t Pro and a Google Pixel 5.
Now I try to collect all my pictures in one place, but the problem is, that I have no tool to edit all sort of portrait pictures. For example if I find a picture that I like, but I want to adjust the portrait mode effect, I need to find the right phone and edit it on that phone. That's far from ideal.
Is there any way to edit the portrait mode effect "bookeh" of all these pictures in one single app? No matter if it is an Android/iOS/Windows app. Or is there a way to remove the bookeh on all pictures at once? That would also help, because there are apps that can generate the bookeh afterwards, if I want it.
