[Help] Override app links? - General Questions and Answers

Whenever I click a specific URL in my browser (chromium-based right now), I want the URL to be sent to tasker directly instead of being opened in the actual browser. Chromium based browser usually lets you link youtube-urls to the YouTube app as an example. Is there a way to override/modify these app links and redirect them to another app instead?

Application that syncs with browser on computer

What is the name of the feature that gives you a tab on your internet browser and that allows you to send information to your cell phone? Thanks a lot to the people on here who really do help and arent douche bags.
Chrome to phone
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
android2cloud
And android2cloud does the opposite--you can share a web page from your phone to the app which, when the extension is installed in chrome, opens the tabs you sent from your phone when you (get home and) open your browser.
there is also one for Firefox.
called
fox to phone
same people make it I believe.
And then you have the Firefox desktop sync and android browser.
yummmm

[APP] Bookmark to Desktop

I just released a first BETA of my Bookmark to Desktop app. It allows users to share pages from the Android browser straight to the bookmarks bar of Google Chrome/Chromium on their desktop.
The app can be found on the market under the name "Bookmark to Desktop (BETA)"
The Chrome extension can be found on chrome.google.com/extensions if you search for 'bookmarktodesktop'
A firefox extension is on the roadmap.
IMPORTANT: Both the app and extension are in a beta phase so feel free to report bugs, comments or feature requests.
Thanks for this. Will try it out.
Another developer wrote a firefox add-on that works with the app.
Now both Google Chrome/Chromium and Mozilla Firefox are supported.

cool, but where to download the app?
I am going to give this a try. I use chrome to phone and have wished for this function. Just out of curiosity - you didn't want to call it "phone to chrome"?
going to try it out but... chrome to phone hardly ever works for me. never sends link and NEVER lets me sign out after it gives me the error. really ticks me off!
dose this use appspot.com?
The idea is useful. It is sync between desktop and phone?
The reason I did not call it phone to chrome is because:
1. I did not want to limit myself to 1 browser
2. The extension does not have push yet. Currently the app polls every 30minutes and a manual fetch button is available.
Instant push that opens the bookmark in a new tab is coming very soon.

Hi
thanks for the nice app, I actually have been looking for something like this for quite some time
One question though: where are the accounts created/stored? I assume they are not bound with google account, so I am guessing they are managed by you?
Cheers

Yes, the accounts are bound to my backend. Currently there is no support yet for changing passwords and managing accounts but I'll try to add that in the near future.
Good job

I tested it with both regular Dolphin browser and Dolphin HD browser and they both are compatible. Use the menu button and then 'share page' from within the browser to use the application.
I just placed a small sneak preview video online that shows the upcoming instant Push to Desktop service.
http://www.vbsteven.be/blog/android-push-to-desktop-is-coming-video/
Just released the beta of PUSH to browser support on the Android market and the chrome webstore.
To try it please update your chrome extension to version 0.3 or later. The firefox addon does not have push yet but it is coming.

Stock browser won't load searches

If I type a search word in the url bar of the stock browser, it won't load. Instead it'll take me to Google.com. I had to download the chrome browser which is annoying.
I did delete the Google search apk via titanium backup, not sure if that's what caused it.
Anyways, does anyone have the stock ics browser and the Google search apk? Google search isn't in the marketplace for me.

[AppReq] Mod Google+ app to enable download link on all the pictures?

Can anyone please create a modified Google+ app to enable download option for all pictures?
Some pictures does not share the URL but ridiculously can be saved if google+ is browsed through web browser in Android.
Also, it will be additionally nice to have a search feature within the app that is currently missing.

Any way to open an app from a URL?

I want to add a reminder to Inbox, which makes URL links clickable, to open an app on certain dates (in this case Nook.)
Is there any way I can make a URL that when clicked on my phone, will open that app on the phone?
The closest I've got is going to its Play Store entry.
Thanks!

I don't it will work that way because the app is on your device, your device nor your app are Web pages so how could a URL do this? Unless you can figure something similar to how an email with an XDA link can be opened in the XDA labs or Tapatalk app.
You can probably set something up between Gmail and Tasker to open the app.

Well I figured that Chrome had a way to parse certain links locally without a connection. Maybe something like app:// or local:// etc.

URLs don't work without being connected to a network that I know of. I could be wrong but when you click a link it has to run its course thru the network to find the URL, if that URL is on your device it still needs to go out over the network and make its way back to your device to open whatever you set the URL to open on your device.
