Wireless charging. - Moto Z2 Play Accessories

Hey all, recent got one of these phones and was just thinking I should grab one of those wireless charging style backs. But now that I'm looking they appear discontinued? No one shows stock, and everyone on eBay wants 60 plus shipping for them. So any one have a better suggestion on getting wireless charging on this thing?

If you're in the UK, Vodafone has them in stock for £40. I got one and really like it, it's the grey fabric and looks great!

If you're stateside, you might have some luck at some Best Buy brick and mortar stores. Despite what the website says, some stores DO have it, albeit in very limited quantities due to lack of real demand, not to mention they were giving it as a freebie for those who bought the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, and Moto Z Play from them unlocked (which was how I even got one in the first place). eBay obviously has it but prices are going to be sky high. Heh, reminds me of when I had an LG V10 and the wireless charging back LG sold for it wasn't available in the US and would usually be sold at the low low price of $59.99 but I managed to nab one from a seller for $35 bucks.
Other than that, you're pretty much out of luck. If you really want wireless charging, get that Incipio battery mod that includes wireless charging or the TUMI one if you prefer. Probably better than the wireless charging back since it works with the Verizon bumper case though it probably doesn't have the 15W Qi fast charging capabilities that the style shell wireless charging back does.

wireless mod from motorola
I could not find the wireless mod either, until i did a web search and found a link to the motorola site. Sure enough i placed an order for $37 and it went through, even though it would not show as an available item on the site when I was looking on it. Just got confirmation email - be here in 5 days. Try this:
https://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-mods/moto-style-shell-with-wireless-charging

The floral wireless charging mod is now available on the US Motorola site for a clearance price of $20. Get them while you can.

Wireless charger from China on Amazon for S4

A couple of days ago I finally received my qi wireless charging receiver from a company in China (purchased through Amazon). I wrote a review about on Amazon, but since I can't post links yet (newbie, thought I've technically been registered on the boards for years -- lurker), so if you want to see that you'd have to go to Amazon and search for the title of the product or at least some of the keywords. The title listed is "Metrans Qi Wireless Charger Wireless Charging Receiver For Samsung Galaxy S4" -- the company name is Metrans.
Seems to work fine so far. The pad says 650mA. The instructions received were in Chinese only. But I just search for "qi wireless installation" and found a video how to do it. Ridiculously simple. It's possible there is a slight bulge to the back cover of the phone, but if so it is very slight and my eyes couldn't really detect one.
When I put the phone on my charging pad (Nokia DT-900 that I got free from AT&T when I bought the Nokia Lumia 920 -- 12V, 750mA), I got a message on the phone:
Wireless charging
You have placed the device within range. Now
charging wirelessly...
Ballpark, it has taken me about five minutes to add 1% to the battery level, that's with all radios on except NFC. So, YMMV. The phone does not get hot (well, no hotter than when plugged into a regular charger).
I do not use a case on my phone, so I don't know if it would work through a case or not.
If you have any questions, let me know and I'll try to answer them.
You must have gotten lucky cause its $18.83 now. Not worth it at almost 20 for just the receiver.
I ordered mine on May 23 and had no idea when the Samsung would be released. Besides, I didn't want a new thicker back cover.
I paid $15.99 plus $4.49 shipping. Shipping was 15 total days.
ordered mine on ebay a few weeks ago. im also getting 650 charge speed. and there IS a buldge
. do you have any solid cases, that you can test if they fit with your wireless pad on..
i have paid enough for some cases and i dont want to throw them away, i still have neo hybrid that i can use but i still want my other plastic cases too..

Where to buy an external charger and spare batteries (UK) - advice

I've just bought a used N910F and wanted to get myself some spare batteries and an external charger. I've just moved up from a Note 3 and previously, an S3 LTE and had multiple batteries for both, with external chargers and I'd like to get the same for the Note 4.
I'm based in the UK and so I'm somewhat limited to what products I can get hold of. I'd like to get one of the Samsung external charger but I was wondering - as these are just running from the mains charger that you're using to charge the phone, is there any issue buying one of the non-Sammy, generic ones? I'd assume that the charger takes care of any overcharging issues - is that correct? If anyone has a link to any cheap genuine Samsung units, I'd be very pleased to have a look. I found one for £30 at Amazon, but it's a 1-3 month wait!
As for spare batteries, I've always gone for the Anker batteries and found them pretty good, and it's looking as though that's the only option for me at the mo - Amazon have them for £14 shipped where as the Powercell units are over £18. Any genuine ones for around £20? I'm not about to waste my money on the ebay cheapies!
Thanks for your time guys! :fingers-crossed:
Amazon buy anker,mpj,etc
I just recently purchased a standard Samsung battery from Amazon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00VIK5DOY
Although there are cheaper options, I made sure that I selected the one that was sold by Amazon themselves on the basis that they are very unlikely to sell fakes - the one I got for £10.63 with next day delivery on Prime certainly seems genuine to me.

Thanks for getting back to me with an actual product. How is the battery holding up? I'm really happy with the Anker one I bought - I'm getting about 1.5 days of moderate use and 5+ hours of SOT between charges. I don't use NFC at the mo so I don't know if this supports it, but as things stand I'd be happy to get another one or two. Does anyone know how to tell if theses "genuine Samsung" batteries are indeed, genuine? I remember reading up on it when I had the Note 3 and it was really tricky visually.
What about these external chargers - anyone had any experience of the non-Samsung ones?

The battery works fine for me, and is a definite improvement on the tired genuine battery it replaced.
Well, I've bought, what's labelled as a "genuine samsung extra battery kit". It's currently charging the enclosed battery in the external cradle. I'll try it in the phone to check if the NFC works to be sure that the battery is a genuine Sammy one, but any ideas on how to check the charging cradle?
Just bought a replacement battery direct from the Samsung UK site - £25 but worth it for the peace of mind. Free delivery.
EDIT: Ordered at 5:00pm, it's now the next morning and my battery has arrived - great speed for free delivery! (Now, if only Samsung could get their firmware updates out as fast!)
EDIT: Genuine Samsung packaging (with the window on the front of the box, and a plastic container for the battery) and manufacture date of last month, so fresh off the assembly line
I've just charged up the battery that came in the "kit". Appearance wise it looks identical (but dont most of them?!) but I just tried it with NFC and that worked - I thought the fakes didn't have the NFC chip - or have some of them started adding it or have I just got a genuine one for a really good price?!

Where did you buy it from?

FYI Best Buy listing error on power pack

I think I saw it mentioned in one of the threads, but I was at Best Buy tonight and can confirm it...
Best Buy has the Incipio power pack listed on their website for $79.99
Here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/incipio...yUjkMe4Sqz1pjAQ17T-kZHsAGrdvmjjCPIaAj5l8P8HAQ
That's $20 more than Motorola's website (it's out of stock there), which I thought was odd...but in store tonight I was able to check, and in reality they are selling the power pack WITH wireless charging for the $79.99...still $10 more than Motorola's price, but cheaper than the Tumi or Kate Spade pack with wireless charging...
No idea why they fail to mention this in the product description...
Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
Still all overpriced and I will wait until no one buys them and they reprice it to 39.99. I mean seriously we are talking 15 dollars in material here and they want 70 dollars.
Thanks for the heads up on this. I was a little nervous about buying it, but upon getting it home and trying it out... works like a charm with my cheap out Qi charger. Better than my S5 did.

Please suggest a good wireless charger!

Hi,
I've just bought the Nilkin MagicTag Type C Wireless charging receiver for the Mix. Considering how long the battery lasts, I realized I could live with the slower charging speeds of a wireless charger. I have only bought the receiver as of now and I need to buy a couple of wireless charging pads\stands.
I've seen a lot of cheap ones on ebay but I understand that there are a lot of fake ones being sold on ebay which doesn't offer close to the promised output.
Can someone suggest a reasonably priced good quality wireless charger? Thanks in advance!

Get the Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charger, whether it be the stand,or,the less expensive model that lays flat:
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/mo...charging-stand-black-sapphire-ep-ng930tbugus/
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/mo...s-charging-pad-black-sapphire-ep-pn920tbegus/
You can get these virtually anywhere for less than MSRP,however, ensure that what you're getting is indeed the Samsung branded one (lots of identical knockoffs that don't have "SAMSUNG" on the face of the charging base).
Also, some legit items are quite a bit cheaper as they may not include the charging cable & Samsung 2a adapter.
If you already have that, then the less expensive model(s) make sense.
Otherwise, read the fine print to ensure the cable & wall adapter are included.
Any 2a or above should be sufficient, but, don't expect high speed charging, due to the sticker you have not being able to provide it.

Apparently there are a lot of knockoffs with the Samsung logo being sold on ebay and Amazon. Its hard to determine whether the one we are getting is the real deal until we have it in hand and closely observe it. Check out these videos on youtube.
Samsung Real vs. Fake Wireless Charger
The only way to ensure that we get the real deal is to buy direct which costs around $50. Considering the Nilkin Magic Tag doesn't support fast charging, I don't think the 2A fast charger is any good.
Are you using a wireless charger? Is there a faster receiver available?
Since, this is my first time using wireless charging, does using fake wireless chargers cause any harm to the device? Like heating issues? Or is the only drawback lower charging speeds?

I don't use knock-offs of anything,if they're going to be deceptive about what/who they are,I sure as Hell am not about to encourage their shenanigans by rewarding them with my honestly-earned $$$.
With no regard for being genuine,I'm certain they couldn't care less about the safety of what they sell.
Also, the el-cheapos tend to be tempermental about charging, having smaller/weaker/fewer coils.
The Samsung chargers are discounted periodically, you just have to look around.
Regardless, you will pay a bit more vs knockoffs, but, you get what you pay for & believe me,w/wireless charging,it's worth it.
Otherwise, you might as well just plug-in the ol'school way....................
The only other brand I recommend is the TYLT stand:
https://www.amazon.com/TYLT-Wireless-Charger-Galaxy-Phones/dp/B00DG8NUC8
It's not fast,but,is reliable.
They only real drawback for this one is the proprietary cord/adapter.

Is there a sticker which supports 2A fastcharging? I ordered the Nilkin Magic Tag based on the reviews on amazon. But unfortunately, it only supports upto 1A charging.
If you know of one, please suggest.

1A is the highest rated one I've seen to date & outside of Samsung devices,I don't think there's anything, whether it be accessories/stickers/phones,that support/include fast wireless charging.
I made a while thread about this with the many different items I bought

There are definitely receivers charging faster

Thank you for the links. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't offer international shipping on the items you've mentioned.
For now, I've managed to get the Nillkin Magic Tag and a Nillkin Magic Disk III Fast Charge Edition.
I wanted to get the Samsung Wireless Fast Charger but they are priced ridiculously high in New Zealand and its hard to say which one is the real deal on ebay! They have even managed to create knockoffs with the cooling fan built-in making it almost impossible to identify the genuine one from the knockoffs.
So I got a reasonably priced fast charger from Nillkin which claims to support Fast charging on compatible devices.
Guess I'll have to live with the slightly slower receiver until something faster is available for International buyers.
Cheers!

here is what i learned. unless your USB C tag is also fast charge you won't see any difference.
i had both the nillikan and the one that i linked which claims fast charging. unless everything in your setup is fast charge you aren't going to see the difference. with just a regular nillikan tag and the fast charger it will be normal. you need to get a fast charge tag - check Ebay.

Yes. I am aware of that. I just bought the fast charger as the price difference between the standard variant and the fast charging edition wasn't much. Moreover the standard variant was out of stock when i ordered.
If at some point, a fast charging receiver becomes widely available, I can make use of the fast charge feature.
Till then, I'll have to adjust with standard wireless speeds.
All of the generic tags currently available on ebay and the Nillkin Tag only support upto 1A charging as mentioned by KOLIOSIS earlier.
So I thought I'll get the Nillkin one as Nillkin is a decent brand. Some generic ones don't even come close to the speeds they claim.

I can vouch for the TYLT stand. I have two of them and they work great. It's definitely faster than the other flat style charging pads I've used. I gave one to my son for his Nexus 6, and he loves his too.

Disappointed with Mod availability in the UK

Luckily I bought this phone on the basis it was best at the price range.
If I had bought it for the mods I would be really disappointed. There is literally none available other than the high end ones like the camera and the projector.
The style shells, wireless charging shells, incipio pack etc are near enough impossible to find, and Motorola themselves have pretty much nothing available on their site.
Amazon Spain has almost everything. Buy them from there.
