Hi Folks,
I received my MediaPad M5 (10.8) Pro 1.5 weeks ago and ran some benchmarks on it.
The Pro Edition comes with a Kirin 960, instead of the Kirin 960S build into the standard variants, and thus runs at 4x2.4GHz & 4x1.8GHz. In addition I got the variant running at 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal eMMC 5.1 storage.
I ran a Geekbanch 4 and as well an Antutu V7 Benchmark resulting in:
GEEKBENCH
1869 Single-Core
6394 Multi-Core
ANTUTU
182745
Both scores are very similar to last year's HTC flagship device U11, powered by a Snapdragon 835, 4GB RAM, as well as 64GB of internal UFS 2.1 storage.
Fell free to post your own screenshots and results and discuss them around here.
I just ran these tests after the update but haven't done them before. I'd say pretty similar results. (Using the pro as well)
That's great. So performance is on par with the out if the box results. Pretty much what I'd expect as the update only brought security patches and DRM L1.

Based on the pass few weeks in China, I had personal hands on for the ZTE Z7, Huawei Ascend P7 and Oppo Find 7. All the 7s
The one that actually felt best on my hands (I am 6 feet) was the ZTE 7 and its lesser brother the Z7 max.
I did not have the opportunity to try the Xiaomi Mi4 as it was no where to be seen even after it launched (sold out the minute it released I suppose).
I can only hope that the design was not as bad as the Mi3. For me it looked like the giant version of one of the Ipod nanos a while back
Neither did I have the chance to check out the Meizu MX4 as it was not out yet.
The Xiaomi Mi4 currently ranks as the most value to cost effective phones we have yet seen, given its impressive specs and better looking design on photos (at least way better than the Mi3)
For me I would take the ZTE and Xiaomi anytime based on their similar designs, however I have yet to see the official pictures for the Meizu MX4 (not to be confused with the 4-core model)
In the meantime I am happy with my ZTE Z7 max which cost me CNY1999, lesser screen quality (not 2k resolution, but still 1080p 5.5") and ram (2GB vs Z7 3GB) than the Z7 but everything else is the same.
So choose your poison.
I would take the Xiaomi Mi4 because of MIUI v6 and defenitly more development than the other chinese mentioned phones.
November/December will my HTC One M8 arrive !

Back in January, rumors of a possible Huawei Honor X2 successor started to pop out. According with previous rumors, the tablet named as Huawei Honor X3, would be unveiled during CES packing a nice set of specs. However it was a no show until the most recent leaks at TENAA.
Originally, we were expecting the device to come with 6.2-inch 2K device, Kirin 950 processor alongside 4GB of Ram and 64GB of Storage. Previous benchmarks also suggested Android 6.0 in a newer version of EMUI. We cannot say what happened with the device on those leaks, but we got a different picture in the TENAA Honor X3 documentation.
According to TENAA, the Huawei Honor X3 boasts a larger 7-inch display with 1920×1200 resolution. The horsepower is given with the use of Snapdragon 615, a quite old and deprecated choice in 2016; Huawei could at least consider the 616 version that fixes all the problems found in the 615, other specs include 2GB of Ram and 16GB of Storage.
The Huawei Honor X3 also comes with a generous 13MP rear camera and 5MP unit on the front. We also found the presence of a fingerprint scanner on device’s border, just below power button, a new placement that we are seeing more often this year. Finally, the device houses a 4320mAh battery to provide enough juice to run out the specs.
Hey bark,
Thanks for posting this. In my opinion, these specs seem highly unrealistic and under par even in comparison to the current X2. I'll gamble and say the specs for the X3 will be much better than the ones quoted in this article...
ya maybe they might have a lite and a pro version for x3. and this one could be of lite.
A Snapdragon processor means there will probably be a CM based rom for it in the future.
Snapdragon means NO Dual Sim Full Active.... So I have to look to other device.

Firstly, appolgize if wrong thread & I know there's probably many posts asking the same thing...
I'm planning to get a new Mobile - after having a Galaxy S4 (stuck on Android 4 since KNOX trip) since they first came out.
I'm a VERY light user, only using it for occasional text/calls, the occasional game & a little bit of Web Browsing (if I find any free Wifi hotspots)
.. Been looking at 'mid-range' SIM-free phones at about £200-£300 (could go as high as £350-ish IF the phone offers better 'futureproofing) with the following basic specs
5" (or larger) screen
32Mb (or more) / 3Gb (or more) RAM
3000mA battery (or more)
SD Card slot
Android 6/7 (6 as long as there's planned update to 7)
As little bloatware as possible - not too fussed if not quite 'vanilla' android but close to it would be nice
Now at first I narrowed it down to possibly a Moto G4 Plus but I find that the UK version does NOT have a compass, which I believe (wrongly perhaps) is usually essential if you plan to use any sat-nav software (which I occcasionally have to use).
Then I considered waiting for the Nokia 6.. possibly even the Arte Black version (when it FINALLY arrives in the UK) - since it's virtually 'Vanilla' Android & would probably won't have too much Bloatware - but I then read reviews that it can be a 'little laggy' opening apps
Then the Huawei Honor 8 was thought about but then read that some reviewers don't like the Emotion UI very much (not knowing the actual reason why they don't like it I won't know if I'd like it)
& finally the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) or Galaxy J7 Pro (if I can find a shop that sells it) is added to my short list but considering how much bloatware was installed on my aging S4 I'm concerned the A5/J7 will also have umpteen apps I will never use installed
Now I know the Moto G4 / Nokia 6 have larger screens than the Honor 8/A5 & the specs are not quite the same between phones (I've been using another website to compare specs.. not sure if allowed to post link/name but hopefully it'll be allowed - GSMARENA) but since I've been out of the Android game for a while - I'm confused over many of the specs
Examples:
Chipset: Which is considered 'better' - a Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617, Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430, HiSilicon Kirin 950 or Exynos 7880 Octa
CPU: Octa-core (4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.2 GHz Cortex-A53), Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53, Octa-core 1.9 GHz Cortex-A53, or Octa-core (4x2.3 GHz Cortex-A72 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex A53)
GPU: Adreno 405 , Adreno 505, Mali-T880 MP4, Mali-T830MP3
Screen: is 'IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen' better or worse than 'Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen'
what is a 'Li-Po 3000 mAh battery' - is it any better/worse than a 'Li-ion'
So , can anyone explain which is considered 'better' than the other specs..
Which phone would you consider from my short list... any suggestions of other phones I may've overlooked that have similar basic specs ??
Edit: So many views - no answers
Anyway, Still looking at phones
- what do you think about the Huawei P10 Lite??
Thanxs in advance

Pocophone F1 is considerably the cheapest phone for gaming. It features Snapdragon 845 and Adreno 630 which are the same processor and GPU found on high-end phones like Samsung Galaxy S9.
Take note that media intensive apps like video-games never will make use of more than 1GB RAM.

so you recommend HONOR. 20 pro?
NO. Quite the contrary.
Also: The Honor 20 Pro doesn'nt have a card slot, whereas the Poco F1 has one.
i forgot to tell that i have 256gb Honor version and 64gb F1
The Poco F1 has 6GB and/or 8GB RAM, the Honor 20 Pro has 8GB RAM. That's what interesting when it comes to play games, nothing else.
