Mi Mix 2s 128gb bricked - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Questions & Answers

I have a big problem with my mi mix 2s. Yesterday i got my mobile. I unlocked it and reboot erverything okay. Then OTA update MIU. After the update i saved the global rom to the internal SD card and i flashed twrp via adb fastboot.
At these moment the mobile complete bricks.
Every folder on that mobile is now complete random numbers and letters. I have no write acces with pc and bootloop into twrp.
I installed the global rom with adb side load. But the adb sideload stopped after about 5 minutes of installation round about 40%.
Now mobile boots and reconized the sim card everything worked. But the internal memory are write protected. I cannot transfer files. The software themselfes cannot writ. When i take a picture i get an error that i should enter a sd card.
Have anyone an idea how can i fix it?
in worstcase it is a case for my assurance.

Sorry to hear it.
Maybe you can try this and follow those steps

1. (Not related to your problem, just curious) How long did the unlock process take? Doesn't it take 72 or 360h to unlock it?
2. Maybe try to not sideload it but copy it to the phone and flash it if the TWRP you use supports it
3. Or try to flash official chinese rom and than flash global rom again
Flashing with Mi flash will work in any case I think

1. 10 seconds
2. cannot write any file to internal sd
3. tried it with miflash, finished in 10secs but didnt work

i resolved it. twrp flashed again complete wipe and i can write to sd. thx.

Can you tell me how you rooted the phone? Do you have to flash Magisk in recovery?

Why did it only take 3sec I thought you have to wait anyway? Are you a diamond member or it came unlocked?

[Help!] Urgent, Please help!

So, to cut the story short, My phone right now is unusable due to some ROM error trying to install some kernel, and the biggest mistake is, I removed my data via TWRP, I was doing this by midnight and did not realize that wiping data from TWRP means all your back ups is gone too and there is no data, no anything on the internal memory card, How can I restore my Moto G ? Please help I'm so panic I can't sleep
This phone I bought is not even close to 1 month, is this the end for me ?
I see there is a Mount OTG option from TWRP, Can I buy some OTG devices then put all the rom then plug in to my moto g?
No need, just install minimal adb and adb drivers for moto g,and go to mounts and storage, and mount sdcard, then just put a rom zip to your sdcard from pc.

Can you give me detailed instruction for this? I don't get the "go to mounts and storage" and the part afterwards
In twrp you have mounts and storage, just download a rom from internet,go to twrp, connect the device to pc,go to mounts and storage,or ADB or something(i dont know how its called in twrp, other users help) and put a rom that you downloaded in your phone, and then install it in twrp just like any other rom.

reflash
You can also reflash the stock rom again. This will probably fix it too
You will have to fastboot flash stock....

Sorry to say this, but you shouldn't have messed up with phone, unlocking bootlader, rooting, installing twrp if you have no idea how to restore your phone in case you mess up the things like this.
Seriously, don't do this again. Read about 180 to 360 days in the device section prior, gain some knowledge about it and then proceed. This will also save you lots of nerves, trust me.
clearing data via twrp doesn't wipe the internal storage...u must hav done something else.
anyways, in twrp go to advanced , select adb sideload.
start a command prompt and do adb sideload filename.zip
google for the elaborate steps.

May i know what is the varient of your phone? Because the method i followed is to root my E8 M8sX single sim. Im not sure if daul sim will cause a problem or not.
Firstly, you need an unlocked bootloader which can be unlocked through htcdev. You will need to create an account and follow the steps on the website. By unlocking the bootloader, it will wipe away all your data(messages, contacts, Apps etc.) on your phone so do a BACKUP before proceeding on the website.
Next, you will need a TWRP (which is a custom recovery to flash custom ROMs and root). TWRP can be found here. Finally, you need a flashable SuperSU to install through TWRP from here. Save the TWRP and SuperSU zip files on your sd card.
Then, follow the steps in this link. Download Minimal ADB and fastboot. Skip step 2 on the page after the one to download adb and fastboot. Just go straight to command without turning off your phone. Also, there is no need to download TWRP and SuperSU again from the page.
If you encounter any errors during the rooting process, just stop and get back to the state where the device is still bootable and for daily use. Ask me and i will try to reply ASAP.
**Disclaimer: I am in no way responsible if your device becomes unusable after the rooting process. Btw, Nisekoi is quite fun to watch but becomes draggy in the manga

Well, yeah thats what i meant. One way just to be safe would be after flashing twrp, boot to homescreen. After that then flash SuperSU. Other than while unlocking the bootloader will wipe away everything, i don't think flashing twrp and supersu will cause your phone to brick. Now knowing that we have the same varient then things should also go smoothly with yours. Do take note that the phone may take longer to boot after factory reset.
Just in case you didn't know, in order to boot the phone to recovery is by pressing power and volume down at the same time while the phone is off.

They removed the fastboot option for lollipop. I think they set it on by default but it seems to boot slower compared to kitkat.

I still get stuck at the unlocking the bootloader. In step 5, it asked to enter this command "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" but it says that " the program cants start because AdbWinApi.dll is missing". I did follow the steps correctly.

Help with g955n(korean s8 plus)exynos

I tried the TWRP found on this forum that claimed working with G955F, but had no luck. Once I flash it with cable, It was stuck on the start logo then restarted over and over again. When I restarted the phone by holding V+, Bixby and power button I can see the twrp interface, but it said unable to mount internal memories and I found no memory or folder available in TWRP. Did I do something wrong or is there a version that work with my Korean version of galaxy s8+?

OEM unlock was on ?
Anyway, to recover, just flash 955N firmware with odin
Brother i hope u missed some steps.
After flashing twrp, u have to boot to twrp and then click on wipe,
then click on format data and then type “yes" .this will erase ur all data.
Then u have to go to the reboot menu of twrp
And select “reboot to recovery".
Phone will boot into twrp again and then u can mount internal storage and sd in twrp.
Now Download the no verity opt file: https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/
Keep the file on ur sd card and flash it from twrp. Phone will boot normally

Flashing from CN version to Global questions

Hey guys,
Im quite new to android and all that comes with it regarding flashing roms. Now i've had the mi mix 3 cn version since october and been wanting to flash to the global rom ever since. So far i have unlocked the bootloader only on my Mix 3. Now Ive started doing some experimenting with an old one plus 1 device of mine before i fully try it on my mix 3 (and **** it up) and so far been able to unlock bootloader and install twrp. But it seems i cant get through the rooting part because every time i download supersu.zip (on my mac) it doesnt actually show as a zip file. So when i copy/paste it into the oneplus directory and try to install through twrp, basically nothing happens because its not a zip file. Is the solution as simple as: " i should just download the same file using Windows??"
Magisk:
in order to root my my Mix 3 and Oneplus 1 i need to install and run Magisk. But after installing it and opening it, it always says 'Magisk is not installed" and under that "Magisk Manager installed".
Question 1: How to fix this.....
Question 2: Do i need to root my Mix 3 in order to flash the global rom?
Currently running MIUI 10.2 Stable 10.2.2.0(PEECNXM)
Many thanks!
Safari unzips after downloading. You can disable it in the settings I think.

You do not need to root your device to flash it to the Global ROM. Unless you need root for something specific, I would suggest forgetting about TWRP and root and using fastboot to flash to the Global ROM. You can find the fastboot flashing guide, here. Click on fastboot, read the instructions, download the correct fastboot image for the Mi Mix 3, unzip it, boot your device into fastboot, connect it via USB to a Windows based machine, and run the flash_all.bat. The device will reboot when finished.
Thanks!

Ok thanks! Will definitly check it out. However i would like to get twrp working as well even just for the sake of it. But every time after i do the "reboot flash recovery rocovery.img" cmd it keeps booting into either the normal OS or into fastboot mode. Ive read about installing the force disable encryption zip file but how do i install that if i cant boot into twrp?

Which TWRP are you flashing? When I was attempting to root my Chinese Mi Mix 3 running the GLobal Stable ROM, it was very hit and miss getting TWRP to stick. I couldn't get fastboot reboot-recovery to work for me so I had to power the device off after flashing TWRP and then hold Volume Up and Power until it vibrates again to get it into TWRP.
To root in that particular situation (Chinese device/Global ROM), you need to flash this region hiding thing right after you flash root. My device kept bootlooping so I gave up and used fastboot to debloat the ROM, which took a few minutes compared to the almost hour I spent on trying to get TWRP to stick and try to get the device rooted. This is one of my many gripes with Magisk root and how inferior it is to Chainfire's discontinued implementation.
Final stage!
Ok so my last post can be ignored as i was finally able to boot into twrp and also installed magisk so now my device is rooted.
I have now uploaded MIMIX3GLOBAL_V10.2.2.0 PEEMIXM into my phones directory.
Now before i install it thru twrp.... Do i need to wipe/erase/clean my phone first? Or can i just install it without doing so?
Many thanks in advance!

You can dirty flash it. It's just a minor update. The current beta will bring some new features though, once it is released in the next stable version.

ok fair enough. However I have a situation now... after installing the process goes into a loop after selection china as region. The last small message it gives is "find device quit unexpectedly" and then it loops for 5 minutes untill it boots into recovery mode. Here i can only choose boot system (which will go into the same loop again), wipe data, or connect to MIUI assistent...
What did i do wrong?? Did i flash the wrong rom?

When cross-flashing, clean/factory reset is always the way to go. With TWRP though, there seems to be some sort of region options not changing issue. There are a few ways to work around it I personally never bothered with, but I have flashed two Chinese devices via fastboot with the Global Stable ROM and haven't ran into the region issue at all.

ok fair enough.

Fastboot is the bootloader. Once you boot your device into the bootloader (Volume Down + Power), you can use ADB through the command prompt to flash TWRP or just flash the Global ROM properly. This thread on it is still very relevant and useful.
Got it!

2) Preparation before the T card upgrade:
1. Prepare a TF card and format the TF card into FAT format first;
2. Decompress the downloaded product software version (generally a compressed package and divide it into multiple compressed sub-packets) and copy the obtained folder named "HLTE700T_TF" to the root directory of the TF card.
3. Insert the TF card into your phone and put the battery in your phone. Make sure the battery is more than 50% charged. If the battery is low, please charge it first.
(three) T card upgrade process
1. Press and hold the “Volume+” and “Volume-” side buttons at the same time, then press the power button, the phone will automatically enter the T card upgrade mode for upgrade. If the phone does not enter the T card upgrade mode, please shut down. Repeat this operation.
2. Wait for about 5 minutes to complete the upgrade and a prompt for the upgrade to be successful.
3. Restart according to the prompt after successful upgrade. If there is no such prompt, press and hold the power button for more than 20 seconds to restart. After the upgrade, the first boot time is longer, which is several times of the normal boot time. Please be patient.

EDIT: Yipee! It was asking for password. I booted to recovery by Hodling volume down+power. Then select an option to erase data, confirm by pressing volume up. It took a few minutes.
Then it booted with the custom rom!
So, anyone who comes across password can just erase their phone by booting into recovery.
Thanks to joygram! This works, so looking forward to having gapps on my phone now! Good luck to everybody.

So to summarize... If we get chinese version of A6 we can now flash this custom rom to have both :
- gapp (not available on chinese version)
- Widgets and full eink function (not available on russian version)
?

->
I can not make twrp
I just merge system.img and install gapps manually.
so I can not root
but I will try
I used Magisk and patched boot.img in joygram's ROM. Then I replaced the original boot.img with partched one, and then used the same method with QFIL. It works!
But when you boot it reminds you device state is locked. However, Magisk is fully operational and I have used many modules already.
