Im in thoughts in buying a U11, but have a few questions
1) Is expanded desktop option available in the U11 settings(stock firmware)?
2) How close is HTC own firmware to Vanilla Android? Is it alot of bloatware?
3) How well does the custom roms like Aosp and Lineage handle the camera? Does it get more worse then the stock camera or is the stock camera ported to the custom roms?
4) Does anyone here have a few DNG Raw samples, would be really glad if I could get a few samples on outdoors daylight.
Thanks!
I'd recommend you drop into a phone shop and try the phone for yourself.

The problem is that there isnt many stores that have U11 in stock.
I'd say wait for the u12 if you want a top end phone but with that comes top end prices. The U11 is an excellent phone but if you want top end photos, buy a top end camera. What the U11 does, it does well but it is by no means a master of all trades. No phone ever will be.

1) I don't know what is "expanded desktop"
2) No bloatware, only mail, weather and themes apps.
3) I don't use custom ROMs
4) Search in dxomark. Was the highest rated camera last year.

You mean "inmersive mode", right? Well, if the app has that option then yes. I use that with Flipboard.
If the jpg images look good there is no reason to think that the raw will be bad, I think.

No immersive mode is an option in a specific app or an app(often root needed), expanded desktop can be found in the settings in the phone

Sadly it isnt the case all the time I have seen a few top models dng files, without the adjustment in sharpness, noise reduction, color, contrast and clearness they can look like ****

There is no expanded desktop option.
The dng files are for edit them, they will never look "fine" until you spend some hours of editing. That is what they are made for.

Yeah, I also tried andropan once, man, it was UGLY.
Sent from my CDMA Hero, sucka!
yep.. thats the name of it.. i remember seeing some BS samsung or LG phone that came with this feature stock and it looked good, so its hard to believe that someone hasn't made a good working panoramic picture taking device...
Hi,
I'm the developper of Andropan.
Can you tell me what is UGLY in my application?
So I can make it better and better
Which device do you use?
Thanks for your help
The Epic's camera app has panorama built in. Im on the Evo myself but my family uses the hero. Glad I lurked on this thread, hopefully the Epic's camera app can be ported over sometime

1.Starting the application into a black screen is a bit - distasteful and not user friendly. Add the buttons that you have when pressing menu here.
2. The Plumb and Level indicators are a bit hard to get right, you should probably think about over laying a set of arrows to tell the user how they need to move to get level and plumb.
3. Typical camera uses the trackball to snap the picture instead of menu or a screen tap (at least on our heros) This would make it more fluid.
4. Not sure how you are storing/retrieving GEO information, but its wrong...at least for me it is
5. Just in my office - it seemed like one picture would have a different light saturation than another frame in the picture.
6. Your stitching of the pictures seems like it has a VERY low error tolerance, and you might try looking at other ways of matching and stitching pieces together so they are seamless.
7. After you have one panorama, instead of showing it at the beginning, have a gallery button, this way they can come into a screen of buttons and actually navigate with out having to use hard keys.
The above was meant to be constructive - please don't take offense, I think you have a good starting point with the app. If you need help with any of it let me know, I have a pretty decent Java/Android background, just no time to make my own apps.

I didn't understand the difference between the two different options for creating a panoramic pic (I don't remember what they were called, manage and auto I think)
I also didn't understand the point of levels
Also it would be nice when the stitching occurs if the app looked for overlap and then removed the overlapping parts of the pic.
Another suggestion would be that when you take a pic that is part of the panoramic shot that you leave it on screen and then overlay the camera view over it so you can better line up and tell where the next shot should be.

My Nexus 5 is a workhorse, still on 4.4.2 because "if it ain't broke don't fix it".
My only issue with the phone is the poor photos and videos it shoots, especially comparing to iphones and samsungs.
The question, will upgrading to android 6 improve photo quality (stock google updates, not mods).
I am sure many of you used both versions and can comment on photo and video differences.
I know there are camera API improvements, security fixes, UI changes, let's leave them aside for now and talk about perceived quality of actual photos and videos taken.
Thanks for any feedback.
Nothing much, the camera is the camera, and it is not that great.
What I read is that the newer versions of android allow direct access to the raw image, so the processing and compression can be done in apps. I saw somewhere photos side by side which showed substantial difference (but I don't know what app they were using).
The camera hardware specs are actually not that bad.

As many have heard or experienced, the stock Razer camera sucks. The Google Camera Port is awesome but does anyone know the optimal setting for the Razer phone? Those options are complex and I have no idea about really any of them.

I haven't tried that TBH. I just use the internal storage.
Here you go
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/....20_7.0H_C2API_v.4.0_AllinOne_Full_Manual.apk
That apk based off google camera 4.4 modified by B-S-G .
I had issues with recent 5.x update so do recomend just stick with 4.4
does it make any difference at all between the stock and this google camera?
it's the only thing keeping me from buying this awesome phone , that is the camera of course.

Hey guys, I installed the Pixel camera app and immediately I noticed an improvement. The Razer camera seems to have a lag to it when moving it to different objects to take a photo. The Google app eliminated that. It's very smooth. Also, I noticed using the Google apk the photos don't look as grainy.
I can't wait for Razer to make improvements to the camera. It has potential. I will continue to experiment with this Google apk.

The video does not show the Razer phone using two different apps.

My friend, watch it again. He specifically says it's the Razer phone using the Pixel 2 XL ported camera app.
I think I actually prefer razer cam, the colour have a better depth and overall contrast - still dreaming of root and camera2 api for RAW capability, this phone will be a dream when that day comes!

When the lumia 1520 came out it was so horrible I stopped using the camera. Took a few months but they fixed the app, camera is still amazing even with the new phones coming out.
This is one area they're focusing on, they remarked they wanted to at least get basic functionality down, which you have to give them props on, Jan-Nov and they get a concept to market, and it doesn't suck. lol
Coming from years of Sony phones I have to say this is quite the piece of kit. Thoroughly enjoying audio and video. The camera is quite bad but I can wait for a fix.
Cool, right off the bat I can take pictures of text on my monitor without it going fuzzy like the pre-update camera app. Anyone care to try post-update razer camera app to take a pic of a website on their monitor? Does it go fuzzy?
i need the pixel camera to save to external sd card - is there a modded apk which offers this option?
obviously the reason it doesnt have that option off the bat is because the pixel does not have a micro sd slot

These might be overkill ir wrong but they do the job.
And if so, can you do it later?
Doubtful as that is in the post processing I believe. The reason people are looking for the Gcam port, or they would just adjust the current camera software.
Being a post-process is exactly why you should be able to do whatever you want woth the background. So is it a yes or a no? Can you do it with stock camera?
Actually I meant that it's done in the OnePlus algorithms. Meaning you'd have to be a camera expert to even know what does what. It's not like taking an APK and porting it. You'd have to rewrite it or know what to rewrite. At least this is what I'd expect

Wow, that's...that's game breaking for me honestly. I heard amazing things about OnePlus (5t and 6), especially in terms of gaming performance, and i was really looking into buying one (plus 6 ) in the near future. But i love taking pics in weekends and holidays and edit them later to my leisure.
I'm keeping my eyes on news of some update that fixes this limitation that shouldn't exist in the first place

If you're that worried about raw, you should be shooting with a dslr camera. These are point and shoot that has been given a manual mode but these are still not a replacement for a regular dslr.

To me since I am a photography enthusiast (fairly serious) that the portrait mode is still just for quick snaps to give a more focus point of view on the subject, not for wedding photos and such. I get your point you still want to maybe do some editing. But I guess my point is if you like the phone for enough to want to buy it and raw photo editing is a thing, it sees that the OP should have looked for that from the beginning and not be shocked it's missing that feature 3 months after release in a forum post. Just my opinion

Well that will contribute to your problem, you are basically just taking a normal photo. Adjust the settings and experiment.
Also RAW photos are really easy to post process with the right software. I remember on the EVO LTE (one x) we had a RAW camera mod that I used some really cool software to post process and took really great photos with.
The RAW photos right out of the box we're very dark and not polished at all. I had to do all of that after the shot was taken.
As far as I know this is the point of RAW photos. The aperture gathers as much data as possible, and the photographer post processes that data as they see fit. Now I'm no pro at all and I could be off base, but that's my basic understanding of it.
If I get some time I'll go lurking around the old android forum I was a MOD on and see what I can find. I had an old friend and mentor on there that we collaborated on quite a bit of this stuff.
Have to adjust settings for night shots, lower/adjust iso,lower/adjust shutter speed,lower/adjust lighting

It wasn't the Exo LTE, it was the M8 with the Ultra Pixel Camera everyone was bashing.
Here's the thread I was referring to with the camera mod and post processing software.: https://androidforums.com/threads/raw-camera.854215/
You'll have to sift through the thread for goodies and info. Early Mon was a god in the early HTC days, and directly involved with getting us HTC DEV for unlocking our bootloaders. I haven't messed with any of this stuff in years, don't have enough time.
